Is there a way to have a different image on the lock screen every time you view it like my old mate 20 pro had? Don't want to install a new launcher. This is quite a basic feature but one I loved on the old phone.

Go to the Play Store and search for "change wallpapers daily". There's a lot of apps that do that

Thanks for the tip on the Pro Launcher!!! Still trying to get the clock face to show. What does the paid Pro Launcher do over the free version? I just noticed that there are 2 versions does it matter which to use?

The only thing Launcher Pro Paid version has is a few extra widgets and the ability to resize your current ones. If anything, purchase it to support the dev. He has put a lot into LP.
Ok I am rooted. I have launcher pro installed. (BTW why does it still ask to use the old launcher I thought it replaced the stock launcher?) I can get the weather widget to come up, but no matter what I do I cant get the clock to come up. I have no option to select it. I downloaded one skin that I liked from the program to play with (TransGalactic skin). I press and hold the screen but when I try and select widgets all that shows there is the weather widget in a couple of versions. Why cant I get this clock to work?? Sorry I am new to this phone and hope I am in the right place.
The clock is part of the weather widget. Also, to set LauncherPro as your default, hit your Home button, when the little dialogue comes up to ask which launcher to use, select the check box at the bottom that window and then select LauncherPro.

Ok stupid question on Pro Launcher. I want to get the paid version but I cant find it in applications to see if I can purchase it from within the app or do I need to redownload a paid version and uninstall the free one?
Select Beautiful Home WEather as a widget >>> This takes you to a settings screen with selections on clock skin and weather skin. Choose your display setup and save it.
And yes, you can purchase LauncherPro from within the application settings.
UGH I refuse to use Paypal. I have had to many bad experiences, is it possible to buy it thru the app store directly?

The only other way is with a CC. I also will not use paypal so am stuck with the free version. I asked about it and they said it was either PP or CC.
Just installed a few hours ago this free launcher and testing it, i find it pretty good.
It reminds of MIUI launcher, also has some good themes, it's very fast and intuitive, maybe it lacks a bit of personalization thought.
It also comes with the option of a personalized lockscreen (in beta as in the menu is described) MIUI-Like
It also offers the option to copy your other launcher desktop config to save you some time (this didn't worked for me)
Some bugs i found:
The most important one is that if you have the custom lockscreen, when you turn on the phone it doesn't asks for the PIN making you unable to properly use the phone until you put it on, you have to deactivate the custom lockscreen in order to get the PIN petition.
Like i said before i tried to copy the old settings of Go Launcher EX but it won't do it saying no launcher was found or something like that.
The lock screen timeout it's the default timeout on the phone (30 sec's in my case) instead of the 3sec's? default one.
Anyway, i will give it a try and looking forward for new updates to clean it from bugs.

you mean "backup homescreens and settings" ?
this works of course only with the same launcher !
i used it some times, works perfect. (after a clean install for example)

I just had a look, thanks for the tip - it seems very nice, very MIUI for sure but with some TouchWiz as well.
It imported my settings from LauncherPro just fine.
It needs a few more options (lick dock swiping) but overall I'm impressed, I'll keep an eye on updates.
So I updated my Xperia Z3+ today and noticed that the home screen does not rotate any more.
I looked in the home screen settings, but there is no such option, like it used to be on 5.0.1.
Am I just not seeing this option, or has Sony removed this feature?
No answer I see. I unfortunately found the same thing, and it really annoys me. I had to move to use Nova launcher so I could get it back, but unfortunately I don't find nova as good as the inbuilt one. The widget handling of nova on the xperia is terrible, and the standard app tray is not as good as the xperia one. I keep hoping there will be an update that fixes it.
I guess it is that sony sadly stopped implementing mag charging and docks for the z5 and later so just don't care. And honestly I can not understand why they stopped that. It is fantastic using your phone as a bedside clock / photo frame on a dock. If I lost my current XPeria, I'd probably just buy the same model again, not get one of the later ones. Or find a different brand that did support horizontal dock/charge.
EDIT: It looks like they have released a beta of it with it fixed, but apparently buggy:

Mobe @ haha very funny... Why you said Nova is not better than Stock launcher? I think you doesn't know the true features of nova or you don't know how to customize it.

I am getting this phone soon and can not wait. BUT, I really do not like the look of MUI. I'm not interested in having some kind of IOS look-a-like with no apps tray. Has anyone else been using Google Now, or any other launcher, for a while? Could someone who knows about these things explain the pros and cons of just using a different Launcher over MUI rather than flashing a new CM based ROM? Do the changes made by MUI interfere with a more traditional Android launcher?
Used miui7 on my my oneplus one for a good while. No trouble at all to just change the launcher. Was one of the first things I did the second time I used it. Mainly because I needed a launcher that would rotate 180°. Miui doesn't do that for the launcher.
But if all you want is an app drawer, you can easily simulate one with miui launcher. Just create a folder, drop every single app in there and place it in the dock area, where a drawer would be. That's all an app drawer is after all.
The only problem is sorting the apps inside the folder since on miui 7 I never found a way of sorting apps inside a folder alphabetically. I just worked around this by swiping up from the home screen and typing in the first letters of whatever app I was searching for.
BTW you're not losing anything by replacing the miui launcher, the miui experience isn't the launcher alone, it's way more than that. If anything, you're gaining extra functionality but just using nova or alike. Can't say about miui8, never used it.
One of the first things I did when I got the Mi5 a couple of days back was to install Nova Launcher for the same reason. The other thing was to swap the hardware buttons around.
It works just as you'd expect - getting an App drawer and the ability to have a centred home screen.
One of the issues with the MIUI base is that you can't change the Lockscreen wallpaper when your active launcher isn't the MIUI launcher. This is easily fixed by switching to the MIUI launcher, changing the lock screen wallpaper from the settings menus, then switching back to your launcher of choice.
I use buzz launcher and think it's great
Change the launcher. Miui is great otherwise!

Since 2 days i'm the owner of a MediaPad M5 lite. Choose this one for the price and nice looks. Only thing I'm not happy with is the EMUI launcher.
I have tried to install Nova Launcher, but it looks like the tablet is a phone as 'drawer' icons are not staying at the bottom (landscape) but they go to the right side of the screen...
Is there a way to resolve this or.... does anyone knows a launcher app which is perfect for this device (except for the default one)
Thanks
There is cpl that im currently using and it seem very friendly running on this tablet
I've found so far that Asap Launcher also works great for landscape mode tablets. been using it for over 3 years in different tablets. unfortunately it doent have a free version.
I use CPL. It's a bit glitchy but it works alright

Glitchy can turn into a boot loop as fast as your next reboot. Launchers should be faster, more stable and better than the stock one otherwise what's the point?
Stability is a paramount requirement as an unstable one is nothing but trouble no matter how much you like it.
Lol, 2 back to back forced reloads because of a goofy launcher impressed me
The only app to boot loop one of my Androids in 6 years. It wasn't the only launcher I tried that was unstable or glitchy; the hallmarks of inept coding.
If you findle around with the smallest width option from the developer settings, you will see that at higher values, any launcher will see the tablet as what it is, instead of a phone.
