I found this little bit in the customer.xml of BMC (Bell Canada) CSC
Code:
<Security>
<NbNetworkLock>4</NbNetworkLock>
<NetworkLock>302610</NetworkLock>
<NetworkLock>204040</NetworkLock>
<NetworkLock>001010</NetworkLock>
<NetworkLock>999990</NetworkLock>
</Security>
Anybody know what this means? I was planning on using this csc.
As near as I can understand, those are the codes that set what network the phone can use. The first number (302610) is Bell Canada, the second (204040) is for Vodafone Netherlands I think, which was likely the market that specific firmware was first developed for. The next number (001010) is a test band and I have no idea what the last one (999990) is, but likely it is a placeholder or another test band.
I also do not know what the nbnetworklock code means, but as I have seen many different single digits on the examples I looked at, I doubt it is anything to worry overly much about.
Beyond all that, this code sequence seems to be very very normal for a CSC and I see no reason it should stop you from using the CSC, assuming of course you want to use the phone on Bell Canada.
Mine just has a large list of the local networks no lock mentioned .

Thank's the info.
Hi,
I've an Galaxy Note 8 (canadian, SM-N950W), buyed directly from samsung, so it's factory unlock and not in any carrier database.
My carrier offer Volte and Vowifi on S7, S7 Edge, and iPhone. I've an Volte capable sim card, and the volte component is activated in my account whit my carrier (i've an S7 edge in my carrier database).
Now, i want to get it to work whit my note 8. I've done many search on the web, and found nothing that work. I've try to get a shortcut for the ims settings, but it said "not found any csc feature", and the apps won't open.
After that, i've thinked about many other alternative, but i'm not sure if it will work, that the reason i'm asking before doing anything wrong and brick my phone. I know all the samsung carrier-specific function is on the CSC. I can just root and edit the config file, but i don't want to void my warranty, and get limited to 80% of charge.
So, another thing i'm thinking, is to flash the s7 edge CSC on my note 8, that already have the volte function enabled on it. Will it work, because it's not the same model?
I've tried too opening my firmware (downloaded from the web for my carrier), extract it, but when it's time to access the csc img.ext4 file, i get a "corrupted archive" from winrar, that let me doing anything.
Any ideas? Thank!

My logic says, surely the easiest way would be to
flash your carriers Note 8 stock Rom with Odin
If this is possible. This way you most likely to keep
everything official. (Knox etc)
I was in a similar situation.
In my case i had a branded Note 8 and
unintentionally flashed unbranded Samsung firmware.
I did not also have volte and wifi calling etc.
No shortcuts work
So i flash my correct branded carrier firmware
All was working again.
I have no carrier branded bloat, as i uninstalled
them.
This for me was the easiest option
Good luck.
Thank for replying willcor
In your case, can you access the ims settings shortcut? And then, enable Volte and get it to work?
Are you rooted? And does the note 8 is officialy supported by your carrier?
FInaly, can i just flash the csc whit odin so i will keep my file, or i need to flash the complete rom, and loosing my data?
Thank!

Firstly, i am not rooted. Stock branded carrier firmware.
As i already had my sim enabled for volte, wifi calling
etc with carrier i re flashed the carrier firmware
Volte appeared "automatic" after flashing. (Short while later ) For me the easiest way.
It was unintentionally that i had flash unbranded
Samsung firmware.
I was originally on branded firmware.
(Vodacom /Vodafone.)
I soft bricked my device while
beta testing.
When i was on this unbranded Samsung firmware
i noticed that there was no volte, wifi calling
and no stock Hiya spam software. etc.
I used QuickShortcutMaker to try and enable
shortcut to wifi calling. No luck.
I'm only suggesting you check this option out
... if possible, then surely it the best way to go.?
Further just flashing to change CSC gave me all sorts of
issues.
I landed up having XEF (France) and my device showing 32 gig storage.! Instead of 64 gig.
then flashing again i landed up on XFE (SAMSUNG)
Sorted storage out to 64 gig.
Then again i Flashed carrier firmware
4 x files ( did not flash home CSC but the other CSC
which resetted device and all is well and knox 0 x0
Bottom line is that
all my previous devices are rooted. So i knew what i was doing.
When i soft bricked my device etc.
so i did not panic.
So i suggest make sure or
look for a relevant video etc on YouTube
if not sure
Yes you are going to lose your data. So do a backup.
Flashing the "home CSC" basically is a dirty
flash.. You don't loose anything.
Which i think is not going to help you.?
Good luck.
Hi,
I've flashed the firmware of an operator that support the note 8, but still not any settings for it in the phone app setting. Can't still access ims setting too.

for me the ,the best option /scenario would be .....
1) Your service provider that you enabled volte ,wifi calling etc with .
2) Further your sim requirements ,for me i had to have sim 64 or higher ( with correct CSC of carrier .)
3) Then obviously that same service provider ( above ) stock Note 8 firmware ,if compatible with your Note 8 model /device etc .
According to what i experience surely , above should be enough to get it enabled .?
Plse note.....
i would not use another carrier firmware etc ,
(as in this case) just because it should have similar firmware .
Try to align your options ,to make it easier .!
This for me should be an key option ,not another provider that has similar functions etc .
Remember you got no root ,would prefer to keep knox 0 x 0 etc .
so your options are limited .?
good luck
Hi,
Still not getting it to work. But today, i've noticed LTE+ icon appear intermittent. It's switch to 3G when i place call.
No any settings of VOLTE.
Can't find any solution to root my phone (snapdragon), because i've the new update. I'm pretty sure it's a way to get it to work, but don't know how. It's just software issues because my operator was activated it in my account.
Hi,
Finaly, after 3 !!! factory reset, gessing whit 3 different carrier, i've activated it, i've it in the settings.
Now, when i make a call, it switch to 4G. I think it's the APN. I know my carrier need 3 apn for the VOLTE, and still have only one. I will try to find the 3 apn setting today.
For the vowifi, i see it in the notification center, a toggle to activate it, but it's do nothing.
I've successfully found the ims, there are 4 for my operator. But i can't find the IMS APN type in the option given in the phone.... How i can enable it?

If you want it to be easier call your carrier and have them add the imei # to their database then the imei will be whitelist and reprovisioned...then you can just use the unlocked firmware or the full carrier Firmware...

I have posted many times with the same info...Several others have as well..
Thanks for sharing though...just search IMS BlueFox721 in XDA search and you will get more info than the video explains as there are other settings to do as well..
Thanks again for sharing
that video and related info is only to add the missing features if you are not on the right csc.
but it wont fix the issue where the carrier is only allowing imei from phones they sell to use these enhanced voice features. In the case of Rogers and others, you can try calling them all you want but in the end they wont do squat to white list your imei. maybe some other providers will yeild to your requests but Rogers is know to not white list non carrier phones.
I successfully got HD Voice turned on and working. But no sign of Wi-Fi calling. I was searching through shortcutmaster and came across a menu where I can turn on wifi calling. It isnt grayed out, however it wont actually toggle over. The screenshot posted is from tapping the menu dots in the top right part of the screen. I assume I need these filled in to enable it. Any ideas on how to populate the right info. Im on verizon, but got the Note 8 from Samsung, carrier unlocked. SM-N950U1

How you turn on Volt?
Hi all,
Received an Olympic edition note 8 (n950n) at the Olympics. We were supplied originally with a KT sim and even in the settings there's a "service provider" menu of KT related items. I have gotten back to North America and popped in my TMobile sim. It took resetting all network settings until I finally got LTE working on it.
However, volte doesn't seem to work at all. I even downloaded the shortcut master and went to ims settings to enable volte switch but still switches to 3g when I make a call. Similarly it can't even find hd calling. The option in shortcut master "hd voice" shortcut says "not found" when I try to launch it.
Ideally it seems as though I just need a different CSC but I don't want to void any warranty on this phone, especially given that I'm sure Samsung USA won't touch it since it's an international model.
Are the n950n's just lacking in many features?
Thanks!
I dont know how your carrier handles VOLTE, but my carrier requested me to go in person and there they activated the service

Hey There,
I'm glad to stumble upon an actual user of an Olympic edition.
Would you mind installing Samsung PhoneInfo app from playstore and sharing your current CSC Code, and your Device Model number - which I assume is N950N ?
I'm just looking for a way to obtain the bootanimation and the theme of it...

Short answer, sell it and get the USA version.

Don't want to sell something that has such sentimental value to me
Product code SM-N950NZWZKTC
CSC code KTC
Additionally it doesn't seem to have the ability to have conference calls?
If you enabled all the switches through IMS setting & VoLTE still doesn't work, you'll need T-mobile CSC to get it working. Aside from the IMS settings, there are some VoLTE related settings in cscfeatures.xml. I have a N950F with modified T Mobile CSC, VoLTE, Wifi calling are working fine, I also have the VoLTE quick setting tile. But I'm rooted & is how I installed it
You'll need T Mobile CSC for wfi calling.

That I have no idea, I have no idea if flashing just the CSC file works between different model/chipset phones. I assume not. I rooted my phone in 2 days so I have no experience flashing official CSC files.
I'm using a modified version of TEKHD's S8 T-Mobile transformation pack. It's an early version of the following mod that I further modified for myself.
[MOD] Exynos T-Mobile CSC Wifi Calling, VoLTE etc for N950N / N950F
The person who made it has a N & specifically made it to get VoLTE & WIFI calling to work on N models. I'm using an earlier version cause it works fine on F models but still had issues on N models. To summarize that thread, he finally got it working fine for N models with nothing additional needed. But you need TWRP & root to install it.

It won't replace the Olympics boot screen but it will trip Knox & may void warranty (not sure what warranty laws are from the original COO, some countries don't void warranty for tripping Knox). But if you are in the US, you can't claim warranty on the phone in the US anyway.
You'd have to install TWRP & root your phone to install the mod I linked. But being how rare that phone is, I wouldn't do it unless you find a copy of the stock Olympics FW for that phone in case anything happens. Seems like others have been looking for it but can't find it yet. Other say it's just a theme that can be installed but if it has a different boot screen then I doubt it's just a theme for the theme store.

Maybe you've got the rare paralympic edition of Note8 which isn't capable of it? (I know, tastefully offensive. I'll be going to hell for that joke)
On a serious note, since it's the N950N which is similar to the N950F afaik, you're better off asking TMobile directly about any connectivity issues.
Usually like others have previously mentioned, should be CSC related but f.e. (if I'm not mistaken) due to the OMC folder/ structure, nearly all country CSC are included. Just the CSC features aren't accessible unless you replace the specific CSC with a modified one from S8/S8+.
If TMobile can't fix it or help you out, you're choice would be to root, double check with a N950F/N950N user if they have volte or (someone has to jump in here to verify) try flashing -if available- factory binaries for specifically USA.
I doubt T-Mobile will help or can even do anything being an international phone. My F on T-Mobile USA worked perfectly fine. You don't need IMEI provisioning with T-Mobile USA like you do with some carriers like AT&T. My speeds were great out the box, better than my T-Mobile Note 5, just didn't have VoLTE & Wifi calling until I enabled them w/ root. We now have 2 more Note 8s in the household, U T-Mobile variants. Speeds are pretty much exactly the same as my F.

Hey there, I thought I recognized the name. Remember me? One of the first to test and rip open the F model to try and figure out the LTE issue / carrier aggregation issue.
I've read through some pages over on the OEM Lock thread ... so to conclude, they figured out the issue with the OEM lock disappearing, but did they ever figure out the carrier aggregation for using F/N model 100% on T-Mobile??
I know people with the F and N models that are still suffering from carrier aggregation and like this Olympic Edition model, which is just a N model with a cool back white Olympic cover. Those who plan to use this on T-Mobile may face the LTE connectivity (carrier aggregation) issue..
For those in really good reception areas may not seem like they have an issue, but that is because they are connected to a really strong (single) signal/frequency, which makes it seem like everything is fine...
Would you be able to provide links to any progress regarding this issue? Has it been solved? If so, it's likely buried in the pages somewhere in the other threads....:highfive:

Yes I remember you. I may not be the best guy to answer your questions but I'll share what I remember.
If you remember, I was just about the only guy in those threads that didn't experience any of the issues you guys did. I'm still using an early version of KT's TMO zip which was basically a slightly modified version of tekhd's S8 zip. The versions to follow is when they started changing more & had issues as it was later found out that the TMB_keystrings.dat from N950U was the cause. Once they replaced that file the issues were reported to have been resolved. I think the current version is like 9m or something I like, I'm using 3a & always have been, never tried any later versions & is probably why I never experienced those issues.
At home my reception is not very good nor are speeds, I get 20-40mbps depending on the time of day. This was the same before I used the zip. My CA combos were different than what the zip gave me but I still had the combos that get's used the most in my area. Around town in good areas I can get 80-135mbps. I stopped checking as I put the subject to rest a while ago.
A few months ago my parents both got Tmobile N950Us. I compared my F with the TMO zip & speeds are pretty much the same, sometimes my F is slightly faster, sometimes the U, but not a big difference so I consider that other factors & call them the same. I've even tried a speed test at a local T-mobile store & the speed was like 6mbps (that area I know doesn't have good coverage) on a U where mine was getting just under 20. Still I'm not saying my F is any better but since I was able to test actual T-Mobile U variants, I don't believe my phone to have any issues with speeds & CA in my area.
Yes the Olympics edition is simply an N with a theme applied and physical cover with the logo on it. the bootscreen is an olympics logo etc.
Merging calls doesnt seem possible, i dont know why. LTE frequently drops on Tmobile now and just goes to 3g or no service at all.
Volte not working either.
I had a similar situation. I bought my phone (N950F) from abroad. Although the phone was in the compatible devices list of my carrier company, they told me that VoLTE could not be used on phones taken from abroad (silly reason). VoLTE enable is carried out by sending a request SMS to the carrier. I put my SIM card into a friend's phone, and sent the request through it. My carrier enabled my SIM card. I put it back to my phone and voila! I have been using VoLTE since then without any problem.
Just wanted to post a final kind of update and that is that the above referenced CSC for Tmobile worked well.
Will it work?
I didn't tried it.

Do you think it's possible?

3. Then make factory reset (YES, you need to erase your phone completely! and let the phone boot up with Sim Card from China in it.
This will automatically configure your phone dialer settings (CSC) to the Chinese version "N9600CHC1CSB1" wich allow Call Recording.
After phone boot up, you can switch Sim Card back to you US Carrier.
Everything will stay the same!

N960U, N960U1, and N960W are all the same exact device hardware-wise and you can cross flash those.
While the N9600 is a Snapdragon device, it is NOT the same as the above mentioned North American models. You can NOT cross flash the firmware with it.
If you don't believe me, literally 2 minutes of research in these forums and on the internet will confirm what I have said.

Please, delete your post before someone tries this and ends up with a brick.
Thank you.

So if you can Cross flash N960W on N960U, Maybe one of the CSC in N960W will allow you to Enable Call Recording.
Here are all N960W CSC's...
https://samfrew.com/model/SM-N960W/
Is there any way to check it inside the CSC file before flashing?

I don't believe so. And flashing a different CSC will break OTAs and cause other unknown problems.

What device do you have? And did you really just post instructions on how to acquire something without actually testing it first?? Please edit your post like Mr Orange asked man. You will cause folks who don't research to end up with issues.

Working on Note 9
Hi there Crew,
Just a quick side note for all... I have Appliqato Call Recorder WORKING on my note 9 (READ BELOW FOR MORE)
This is only relative to the Appliqato Call Recorder and I cannot comment on any other call recording app.
The reason the phone call recording apps will not work is because Google had their backside reamed through the courts on privacy issues.
If you troll through the net you will see the many many many punters who are really peeeeeeved off with this occurring.
I have spent the last 8 days of my holidays off of work flashing my note9 back six different operating systems, even flashing it back to the note 9 post pie (oreo) and got it working - but then the issue is that you wont get any of the standard security updates. etc etc So I set it back to the current firmware and gave up until I found the answer. I have read pages after pages of details to simply find the following
It is a restriction through GOOOOOOOGARGLE and the One UI - pie update NOT the phone manufacturer.
There are some countries that this does not affect but this is done via official firmware and security updates.
Anyways this may not work for all ! But is how I got it to work without any apk side loading or the likes or flashing.
I have a Note 9 Australian, SM-N960F - One UI version 1.0 Android Version 9, Baseband Version N960FXXU2CSDC
1/. Delete your old call recorder app (appliqato) - make sure you back up your calls just in case.
Your calls are not gone, but backup to be sure. Caller ID is not a problem with the unchained version.
2/. NOW here is the catch - go to the Samsung Galaxy Store ---- NOT ----GOOOOOGARGLE store and search for call recorder
3/. Install it ! You will see now that when you go into phone, go to settings - App version - it will now be 5.58-sam and not just 5.58
4/. Set your settings and away you go. Can confirm it works now as it did not before and after many an email to appliqato themselves whom explained that it was a GOOOOGARLE restriction.
It would seem that the lads at Samsung are aware of this but all of the negativity they are getting from this has a flow on effect. It would seem that People who dont read forums or scour the net and just want a quick fix are doing damage to the company's bottom line and reputation for the sales of their phones. The negative feedback's are aimed at Samsung but it is GOOOOGARGLE that are implementing the privacy restrictions through their updates. It should be up for us to decide what we allow permissions for or not. Thanks Samsung!
Me myself - my mother recently suffered a severe brain aneurysm with 6 weeks in intensive care - she is in the 5% of people who survive. Some 6 months later she is still not all together there and will probably have a degree of brain damage for the rest of her life. I like to be able to record her in conversation and cracking jokes when I am many thousands of kilometres away at work. When that one day she may no longer be here - I can play back those precious call memories of her funny an humorous side.
Thanks for your time - hope it helps and works for you.
Cheers,
Dazz
Greetings to the community here!
I came here out of desperation because after several attempts I can't fix the problem with my phone.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, specifically the model SM-G998U (CSC: ATT/XAA,ATT/ATT). The phone is unlocked and accepts all SIM cards. I live in the Czech Republic (the state in the center of Europe) and I found out that my signal is dropping here. A cell phone imported from the US has different radio waves. See the comparison there:
https://www.kimovil.com/en/frequency-checker/CZ/samsung-galaxy-s21-ultra
I wanted to ask if it is possible to solve this error by flashing SM-998U into SM-998U1 + before flashing, changing the CSC to XAA (or is it after flashing?). The phone has Android 12 and the last update was on April 1, 2022. However, I can't update anything because thanks to AT&T I have to be in the US + have their SIM to be able to get the OTA. Could mobile signal be a software issue (like if I manage to update it, is it going to accept European bands – certainly O2 carrier?)? It keeps losing signal (it switches between no signal - LTE - 5G). During the call, the other party can't hear me because my voice somehow falls out.
By the way, the seller told me that the phone will work in Europe, but it doesn't work for me to make calls. Do I have the right to return the goods?
Is there any kind soul who can help me with this? I will be grateful for any help.

Yes you are right . Facing the same problem here in Pakistan I have G998U model and it drop the signal from 4g to 3g (H+) frequently . I use the phone Hotspot in my car to listen to music . But on the same route it drops the signals and keep buffering. In Pakistan Samsung officially released G998B model but I don't like the exynos chip

Thanks for responding.
I noticed you flashed from SM-G998U to SM-G998U1. Did you notice any change in the signal when you flashed the system? Like, is it better after flashing?
I'm thinking of flashing from the G998U to the G998U1 as well.
Now I have CSC ATT. When I flash it to G998U1 do I have to change the CSC to XAA (via SamFW tool) or just flash it via patched ODIN?
Also, I don't want to lose data when flashing, so I have to put HOME_CSC in the patched ODIN right? I just don't know if putting HOME_CSC will leave the AT&T logo and bloatware on my phone. I don't want to be left with AT&T bloatware, so I'll probably backup my data and put a normal CSC in there that will wipe my data.
@iBowToAndroid
Would you mind helping me out, please? Someone on this page wrote that I should be careful about the bootloader version when flashing. Can I flash from Android 12 (April 2022) to Android 13?
