Help getting to Nougat from C432B182

Hi all,
I'm trying to upgrade my P9 to the latest software build but I've hit a brick wall. The phone is currently on L09C432B182 software version.
My phone was originally branded to EE (C440), but I followed the guide posted here to debrand it to C432. This was successful and after getting to B136 firmware I then got the updates to B166 and B182 in succession.
I've been using B182 for a couple of months, and all is working fine, but I've now got the urge to try Nougat. The problem is, all of the methods I've tried seem not to work.
- Huawei built in Updater app says no updates available
- Hisuite says no updates available
- Using the "Huawei Updater" via Hisuite/proxy method doesn't work as Hisuite is saying no internet connection (I think the custom ROM URLs are no longer valid)
- Using the Firmware Finder app and proxy add-on method gets me further in that I can download the updates (B360 or B361) in the built in Updater app and the phone will successfully verify them; however in all cases the installation fails at 5% due to "Software update failed! Failed to check the package"
- As a last resort, I tried extracting the update.app files from downloaded firmware, mounting in SD card/dload and then using the Dialer method to install from SD card; this also fails with a "Software update failed!" error
Has anyone had this issue when trying to upgrade from B182 and if so, did you manage to resolve it?

Don't try Nougat the battery life is ****

I tried the hisuite and Huawei updater route and got the no internet connection all the time. I gave up and went back to the firmware finder and tried to download B386 using the proxy method. This came back with failed to download. By random choice I checked the updater app on the phone to download latest full package. This immediately brought up and download the B386 firmware and it installed without a problem with no loss of data. Just to check it wasn't a bit of luck I did the same with the wife's phone and it worked the same way . As for battery life I don't see any problems with it

how to update via firmware finder?

Hey guys. I found a new firmware that is approved for my device (not ROOTED) . It doesn't show up in my system update when I checked. So I tried the built in methods in the firmware finder app and it didn't show the latest update in the System Update app.
Previously, I have used the Proxy and DNS methods to install updates via firmware finder app, but now it seems those methods don't work as well. Are there any other ways to get the update?

The proxy method from the app still works fine for me. Just did an update two days ago to the August Google security patch. Just make sure that when using the proxy method that:
a. change your wifi connection to "local host" , port "8080"
b. go to system update in settings and begin the update
c. when the update is at 5-10% pause the update
d. go back to wifi settings and return your settings to normal by removing "local host" and "8080"
e. return back to system update and continue the update.

Same Firmwareupdate since Weeks

Hi,
since Weeks i am having an annoying problem:
the Same update is coming, and i tried everything:
Install the Update approx 20 times
Check in Hicare -no update
Check in Hisuite - NO update
Email Huwai - No answer
Hard Restet (!) - Same
I have read that sometimes a newer update pops up, or with hisuite theres a new update, but always the same.
Any ideas?

I didn´t have the same problem but for me it was that I never got the 9.1 update.
Changing to another operators SIM-card triggered the update, and then after updating to the most recent version I switched back to my default sim.
Maybe it´s the solution to your problem as well, might be worth a shot at least.

This i tried also when the 9.1 update didnt come. Did not work for me. But i will give it again a try

I had that problem when I did update via moded HiSuite from 9.0.0.286 to 9.1.0.325... I downgraded again to 2.0.0.286 and then I updated first to 9.1.0.311 (no problem), and after that to 9.1.0.328
So try if you want, but I'm not responsible if something goes wrong...

Can someone help me, im getting crazy.
I´ve tried it on 3 different pc´s, at home, in my company... Always the same.
Changed hosts file
installed hisuite and copied the modified files
opened ff on my p20 pro, approved .328 update
does not work, error.
Am i doing something wrong still?
I can download the update in ff, is there a risk to install it this way?

Have you changed the DNS in your wifi connection? Check out the box for IPV6, disconnect the internet, connect again and make sure that your mobile and Laptop are connected with the same network, you just need to change the DNS in your host file, nothing more, good luck.

Aaaah, i finally made it, wlan router with the dns settings did the trick, this was not mentioned in the manual i think?

[SOLVED] Stuck on EMUI 8.1 after repairing the Device

Hi I'm in a strange situation after the phone has been repaired in a Huawei center: my phone comeback with another motherboard and with an Old EMUI 8.1.0.163 version based on Android 8 with July 2019 security patch and since a new IMEI all my Ota updates got lost.
I've waited 3 weeks and no Ota update comes, nothing also with official Hisuite. I checked on FF but the first strange thing: almost every build after mine are already approved 9.1.341 / 345 / 346 / 351 / 361. Every builds says "approved" except for: 9.1.0.311 . This is the one immediately after mine (I repeat 8.1.0.163) and it's the basically the only one "not approved".
So I thought "maybe if I force the .311 update I'll get all the other builds by OTA" and then tried with the DLOAD method (that I already used in past) with THIS FIRMWARE. Nothing to do, it start but get "Software instal failed. Incompatibility with current version" that is very strange because firmware is correct.
Since I didn't found any other rom newer flashable with Dload method I opted for Plan B and tried with the modded Hisuite app. Tried firstly with .311 build, it start the dowload and all, put in the phone but when boot in recovery it's lock at 5% and then after a while said "update error" and reboot without installing it.
For the last things I tried still with modded Hisuite but with different builds (345, 351 and 361) but for none of these the download start (both full package and ota). Hisuite found the updates but when I press download it says "no connection" and also it didn't show the changelog (like it did with the .311). Tried Also few build newer than mine that are EMUI 9.0 and not 9.1 thought maybe I've to pass before from the 9.0 to get the 9.1 but same (no changelog + connection error)
In the end what did you suggest except "wait for OTA"? Is there somewhere newer builds (like .345) flashable with Dload method? Or a "fix" for Hisuite builds with the "no connection error" and with no changelog?

Did you change the dns in your computer? As the tutorial of hisuite nodded said? The host file

Yup otherwise mine modded Hi Suite would not have seen the build .311 and all the other builds I've tried. 99% sure about the hostfile need to re check better

I told you that cause when I register the ip of my connection, sometimes I use VPN services, and I got error about connection, but when I am in the right ip everything worked, also try some different 311 firmwares from FF, cause I had the experience that when I had one approved but its not for my device I got error in installing it, it stops always in 5%, but if I register another 311 firmware from the list, until I find what works, it can be installed, this is the point now with the firmwares from FF, I recommend to you to install Android 9 before 9.1

You talk about phone or PC when you wrote about the VPN? Also another question: did you see the changelog when you choose a firmware?
I also thought about 9.0 but I don't think there are build based on 9.0. newer than mine. I'm scared of flashing build based on older security patch, highly risk of bootloop

I said About PC, what I do normally is with the FF app in the phone, I register the firmware I want to update, if it's available, after register in the phone app I go to the pc and connect the phone, and through hisuite modded appears the new update, it's very strange that your phone don't get new updates through Ota, maybe you can speak through hicare with the support about it, sometimes I went back to older firmwares for example if I didn't like the performance I went back and everything works normally

I had same problem after mothert repair ,stuck on 8.1.0.163. Find any solution?

Had to try the procedure via phone hotspot. If it not work then will try to contact the Hicare assistance as said by Luis

Still have to try the hotspot procedure but I've talk with hicare support: nothing to do, since July 2019 they can't no more force Ota update the only way they said to me was to re-send in repairing center. And also they said if I'm stuck on July patch with Android 8 probably I'll never get new update, even if I wait months and months. What a mess...

You can install android 9 through hisuite modded, not the last update for example try 328 firmware, and after that search for new update through EMUI and download 345 firmware that is the last at the moment, and you will have an official Ota firmware, this is what I did the other day after tried 361 firmware and didn't like how works

Ok I'll try thanks buddy. And for your modded Hisuite too you can't read the Changelog while you find for update? Sorry for loosing time just want to figure out if I've all setted correctly.

What I do is register it in the FF app, in the app you can see the change log, register the firmware with the ip of your internet and with hisuite modded everything is easy

Found a solution too! Installed this firmware with dload method without issue and got 9.1 finally. Thanks to all

Question How to downgrade EMUI 11 to 10?????

Has anyone managed to downgrade from 11 to 10 yet? I've been through the youtube / google etc and can only find methods for the P40 / Mate etc. ictfix.net has a method but the firmware options are only showing as EMUI11 in firmfinder.
Any ideas???

If you have the Chinese Version, you don´t need this kind of downgrade.
There are a lot of Videos on Youtube for installing GMS

EDIT: Sorry, I did not read properly. I now realize you need hints for Mate X2, not for P40. So this my be not relevant for you. I leave the post anyway, maybe it's useful for someone.

I downgraded a
P40, Device Model: ANA-N29, Device Region: C432 - hw-eu
from Emui 11 to Firmware 10 successfully.
I followed this guide:

However, in contrast to this guide do not use HiSuite 11.xxx, but use Hisuite 10.xxxx. I used Hisuite_10.1.0.550_OVE succesfully. Reason: The older Firmware is not compatible with the newer HiSuite. You can still use the current HiSuiteProxy, however. I used HiSuite Proxy V3.0.2.
Hint 1: In the guide above in steps 4 and 5 you are advised to select the ROM you want to flash. Execute these tow steps for all 3 ROMS (Base, CUST, PRELOAD) you want to flash. They should match to each other. I used:
ANA-LGRP4-OVS 10.1.0.131
ANA-N29-CUST 10.1.0.6(C432)
ANA-N29-PRELOAD 10.1.0.1(C432R4)
Hint 2: The Guide above ends somewhat in the middle. After you start the update in HiSuite, wait for it to finish. The phone will restart several times automatically. After that it will complain about “Data Partition corupted…”. Have no fear, this is normal. Simply select low level format on the phone and let it do its work. Then it restarts, and that's it. My guess is that the structure of data partition has somehow changed between the older and the current EMUI.
Hint 3: After I had installed Google, I upgraded the phone back to EMUI simply by allowing the phone to download and install upgrades OTA. this took several intermediate upgrade steps. But finally I am now back to EMUI 11.
