Hi,
My Pixel 5 was never unlocked or rooted. I recently performed March security update, and upon opening Google Pay which discovered that my device is not certified.
I do not know how it happened, but wondering if anyone know how to resolve this issue without wiping the phone.
Thanks for providing any information!
No idea what happened, but factory reset the phone and device certification is back.

It's too late now, but if it happens again go to settings > apps > Google Play Store > storage and cache ~ and clear data/storage for the app. Then reboot and your device should be certified again. It might take several minutes for the Play Store to certify your device. You can check the status on the Play Store app > settings > certification status is at the bottom

Hello,
My phone (out of warrenty) was dropped in water, so had to change some hardware outside. After which I kept getting play store errors. Many apps would also throw random errors, even after doing factory reset. So I thought may be ROM too need to be flashed due to new hardware. I searched for the Stock ROM (Kitkat 4.4.4) and found one (phone shows 21.11.27.titan.retaildsds.retaildsdsall.en.03retin). I flashed it (I just had to run a file on fastboot mode - Auto Restore Script.bat). After that I havent been able to install apps through play store. It keeps popping error 495. I can install a few apps at random, but not everything. I did the whole process at least 3-4 times again, changed wifi connection etc. No luck. Any help here?
PS: I am totally a new person to all android related stuff, but ready to learn if right instructions are given. Thanks.
Hi,
I will have your thread moved to your device section.
Good luck!
yuppie, on lollipop now!
@garrittw: your response is a little too late You see, in my desperate attempts to make my phone work, I got it on Lollipop 5.0 (used the files from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...m-1-tweet-rate-thread-add-poll-titan-t2989793)
The end scene is that everything is working on my phone. But it took a lot of time to make it happen. After installing gapps, I continuously got google play services error. The same play store problem persisted too. But this time something different happened. After 2-3 attempts at downloading one app, i got it to donwload. Also updated google play services somehow. It was frustrating though as for every app download I had to try multiple times. Surprisingly amazon appstore downloads were successful. So I also used that to download the ones available there. But I am happy now that my phone works perfectly with all the apps that I need up to date . I am feeling so happy about it, as this was my first stint at android troubleshooting as a total novice
However I still think I will run into the same play store problem whenver I would try to update any app, so I think I will use your patch anyway. Thanks
JJD Edit
Please don't discuss or recommend lucky patcher on xda. Moderaters will not tolerate software that is primarily warez related. Threads get closed because of that. Thanks

Try this:
Settings > Apps > swipe until you see category "all"
Search for "Google Play Store" and clear data.
Search for "Googe Services Framework" and clear data.
Now open the play store and try to install something.
If you still get 495 go to Settings > Accounts and delete your Google account. Restart phone and add your Google account. Should be fixed.
tried everything on 495, no luck

I had tried ALL the suggestion on the internet for 495, nothing worked. Even flashing multiple versions of systems dint work. Still get 495 at times with the 5.0.2, but works when i try multiple times. I also tried different wifi connection, no luck there too
As in, it seems to reset back to default settings every so often.
It'll open with the "getting started" intro, then when I get to my actual library everything is reset. Bookmarks, formatting, notes, ect.
I don't know what is causing this, and since its a system app I can't just delete and reinstall in. I'm on the latest firmware, unfortunately, and I do have google play installed. Thats it.
What would be causing this? Its the only app that has issues

Likely a 'cleaner' app that helpfully (not) attempts to rid your device of content it claims to be wasteful.

I see the same thing, no cleaner app installed. But I do keep getting messages about newly-installed OS updates, and then the Kindle app is reset.
Fixed this by going into Apps menu > All > Amazon Kindle and clicking on Uninstall Updates, then into Play Store > My Apps and Games > Amazon Kindle > three-dot menu > uncheck Auto-update.
Reportedly the version coming from the Play store now doesn't play well with the Fire.
Interesting that on other Android devices the Play store version works fine.

FireOS v5 is a unique beast...a highly modified Android 5.1 variant. There are a number of apps that don't play nice with FireOS; others require a different build including several Amazon apps. Seems the Kindle app may be one of them.
when i take photos, it would give me a geotag that is significantly incorrect. For example, my address is 123 Fake St. but the geotag would be like 100 Fake St. Other apps that uses gps/location like google maps seems to be fine with precision. I once took a pic and the geotag would say i took it somewhere in the middle east (but im in Toronto) but it corrected itself.
Anyone had this issue and fixed it?
i have the geo-tagging issues on photos taken with the device where it says taken somewhere else to where I have taken it, even though when you look at maps or any applications that use location they are fine.
Mine is more like taking a picture at 100 This Street but it usually shows 100 Two Streets Away
You could try these instructions I got from Huawei
Regarding your query, we would kindly recommend to reset app preferences following the steps below:
1. Settings > Apps and notifications > Apps > Maps > Clear data/Clear Cache, go back and select Force Stop.
2. Settings > Apps and notifications > Apps > Gallery > Clear Cache, go back and select Force Stop.
3. Settings > Apps and notifications > Apps > Camera > Clear data/Clear Cache, go back and select Force Stop.
4. Then you have to return to Settings > Apps and notifications > Apps > More > Reset app preferences. At the end of the process restart the phone.
5. Go to Settings > Security and privacy > Location services > and use High accuracy.

thnx. Will give this a shot.
update: this worked but i did not 'reset app preferences' (tried this first as it would be a pain in the ass to reconfigure each app's preference). Thanks again
Has anyone notice Magisk 17.3 being removed by play protect. Everytime i noticed it's removed i see paly store suppory files being downloaded. happened 4 times so far since last night
try disabling Play Protect
Disable it. Go to "Settings > Google > Security > Google Play Protect".
Wasn't really sure where to put this, so though I would try the forum the phone it is running on (P20 Pro)
So, for some reason Google Pay has stopped working, when using it from the phone in stores (asda, etc). I have the correct card added to google pay, in that I have a Google Data Storage subscription that gets taken out each month from the card registered on Google Pay
However, when I use Google Pay on the phone, I get a declined message, however, if I then take out the actual card (that is registered) and pay with that, the payment goes through with no problems, so it is not the card problem
Am completely stumped on what this could be
Thanks in advance
Disable phone permission for Google Play Services app.
To do this:
Goto Settings > Apps > Google Play Serives > Permissions
There will be option for phone or telephone, Disable that permission and try.
Hope it helps.
