Just the kernel I use in my Evox builds that everyone seems to enjoy and get really good battery life.
Not much to this op. A Magisk patched boot.img or an unpatched boot.img.
CUSTOM ROMS ONLY!!!
This is patched for Magisk 21.4. Theres a reason behind it, feel free to update as you see fit.

Unpatched Boot.img = https://sourceforge.net/projects/unofficial-evolution-x/files/EVOX/OP8T_Boot/boot.img/download
No flashy OP, No gimmicks just a kernel that seems to work very well for people.
I do not care about ROMs inlining it, please just redirect them here for issues

One of best Kernel i have built and used in a long time. got up 9 hrs that day... Thanks bro!!!
This kernel is almost unreal. The battery life is absolutely amazing. I've never had a device in my life have such low battery drain like I get with krieg. Definitely worth trying if you like your phone to work the way it should.
Battery life is amazing with this kernel, and definitely give it a try. Perfect mix of performance and battery life
There's no way of leaving this Kernel
Amazing battery life , smoother performance overall it's the top notch kernel that I've used ever. Getting battery backup for 2 days in insane. Thank you @apophis9283 for your hardwork and I think OnePlus should hire you definitely
Coould it be used for any Lineage/AOSP Rom? I'm newbie with this 8T device
I already fastboot boot patched_boot.img but on Android version the kernel seems to be the same as before... I had RadioActive kernel and it looks like it still has the old one... what i'm missing?

Can I use it over oxygen os firmware ?
Bloody awesome kernel, smooth and stable with excellent battery life on crdroid 7.4 before overclocking but I've found that even with a 900mhz gpu of of tacked on, the kernel holds up well ether way imo.
Going to use it as my daily driver.

It's not possible to boot the kernel into memory without flashing, so to take it for a test drive?
If I do flash the kernel I suppose I have to reflash it everytime I update my Lineage install?

hey guys is it really needed to flash a recovery to the fotakernel or can I also just flash kk kernel when I wan't to flash something ? btw I'm not really in a hurry to try this rom so maybe I should just wait for this problem to be fixed so that the recovery is working well without having to flash a recovery to the fota kernel?

Okay good to hear, yesterday I also flashed this rom btw it's super smooth and a amazing rom:good: but the only thing I have a problem with right now is the random reboots that occur. So maybe I should provide a log to you, only I don't really know how to do that because I never had to provide logs haha. the reboots occur at times when I turn my wifi on or off or other moments but it could also be something else I really don't know actually why it happens sometimes and the other moments everything is as it should be so......

stop being a noob and become a newbie bro! by reading in threads or using search button...philz , dual or whatever from stock roms won't work on my roms.
u must fastboot flash a cm11 kernel and make your wipes+ rom and gapps flashing from there. cm recovery is broken for eveyone.
and on cm/aocp roms, recovery in included in kernel so if u flash my rom and the kernel is included in zip pacjage, for sure u gonna loose recovery!
Nice work.
Just flashed this ROM and no bugs at all till now.
Hey there!

How to install recovery?
Hey the rom is very smooth and is a lot stable than others that I recently came across. It has all the functionalities and a lot more added features that any one would need in a basic Android 5.1. Thank you so much for the rom. Apart from that there two things I needed your input:
1. How do I install recovery on this? I tried installing via bootloader but it gives me an error while installing recovery.
platform-tools>fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.8.4.1-yuga.img
sending 'recovery' (10634 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.388s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
finished. total time: 0.405s
2. After I lock my screen, Wifi connection automatically disconnects and mobile data is consumed. Its when I unlock my screen I come to know that my mobile data was active and the Wifi starts searching for a Wifi signal. Is there any specific setting that I need to change
Any help addressing these issues would be great.
Thanks!!

What is required for root work?
Root adds a binary file and some scripts to the /system partition
What happens when you flash a system.img?
Everything in the /system partition is wiped and replaced with the contents of the system.img

Well, not quite, because on 6.0, you also need a modified boot.img (kernel) too, to get root.
The main question is, are you encrypted? If so it is fairly easy and I will let you know what to do. But if you are not encrypted there is an extra step.

OK.
So flash system.img and boot.img (you may also want to flash bootloader.img and radio.img). You do not need recovery.img.
Boot android as 100% stock until it starts up. This will likely replace TWRP with the stock recovery.img too. If you don't boot with the stock boot.img, you will likely get a bootloop once rooting. (unencrypted users need to flash a modified stock boot.img instead of stock, that does not enforce encryption and boot with that).
Flash chainfires modified boot.img, TWRP.img then boot into recovery and flash latest SuperSU beta (2.52 I think)

Older HTC devices did seem to have issues with a dodgy radio flash. if you disconnected the connection / power during a radio flash, it could corrupt the filesystem and wasn't easy to fix. Often thought to be a brick. I saw that commonly on the Original HTC Desire.
The great thing with Nexus devices are that you can fastboot format partitions which will repair the file system, so you shouldn't have an issue with bricking from flashing a radio. I literally haven't seen a radio brick for years. That said, still be careful when it comes to power and USB connectivity.
Different radios may work better for you. There are too many variables to say that Radio X will work better than Radio Y for you, but there definitely can be improvements to be found by trying different ones.

Looking for latest "stock image" for MRA58R pre rooted and forced enc disabled
Hi,
I have looked at the ROMs in Android Development sub forum but can only find heavily modified ROMs based of MRA58R. I want it stock but pre rooted and no forced encryption.
I have Nexus 6.

If you can't find one, why not take the alternative simple route of installing stock (full wipe), then flash modified no-encrypt boot and then supersu?
I flashed doitright's boot.img, booted into Android and then installed his supersu.apk. Incredibly simple. Even though he clearly states that it's a work in progress it has worked flawlessly for me for the past couple of weeks. Unencrypted and rooted.

decrypted.. you do realize that its encrypted/decrypted via kernel, not rom right? and even if it is decrypted, its you yourself that has to go through the action of reformatting all your data before you are actually decrypted.

Yeah a lot of people know this means a rom that packs a boot.img that has ramdisk with the fstab.shamu with the data partition mount options changed from forceencrypt to encryptable, but still can be misleading to the less tech savvy readers who might misunderstand it, and believe that encrypting is in the rom part of the flashable zip file.
This is a step in the right direction
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/development/rom-stock-mra58r-gapps-custom-stock-t3254496
It is quite easy just to flash stock images and then flash modified boot.img, twrp recovery and SuperSu. Sure, It is few more click and commands, but it's really that simple...done in a minute...
And for Kernel I am using this one. It is stock one (no encryption) with some added features like vibration control.
Hi guys,
My 32 GB 3GB RAM Moto G5S Plus should arrive tomorrow, and I have a couple questions.
Apparently the bootloader can be easily unlocked and I'm guessing I'll be able to easily get root.
My questions are:
1 - How do I unlock the bootloader
2 - How do I get root
3- What's the best custom ROMS for this device
Thanks!

Follow this link for bootloader unlock, root, & twrp(&thank the OP:good - it's pretty straight forward & won't take too long to accomplish...be sure to follow the instructions closely: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g5s-plus/development/root-moto-g5s-plus-t3673287
And "best" is a subjective thing, but there are some good ROMs out there. Give them all a try I've been on validus 8.0 for weeks now, aex 64 bit is nice, and there are more ROMs floating around on android file host too.
Good luck & hope you like your new g5s :highfive:
Mines coming tomorrow too!
Mine will be here Friday.
Sent from my SGP512 using XDA Premium HD app
I don't know how I'm gonna actually make use of it as a "phone" given that I'm currently using an iPhone 8 Plus, but I'm just happy to have a customizable Android device again. Google Voice for the win!

I unlocked the bootloader successfully, but when I get to the second step and try to flash the twrp recovery, I keep getting this message:
I keep getting "writing recovery"...
(bootloader) Image not signed or corrupt
OKAY [0.292s]
finished
I erased my phone and started over and didn't enable fingerprint or a PIN. What's the problem?

Got everything to work. What's the best ROM, though. I'd prefer to be on 8.0 Oreo.

Validus has been my daily driver since day 1 of owning this phone, aex 64 bit is nice too. Just flash & see what you like best
Also, check android file host...there's a few builds there too.

OK. Thanks. I'm guessing Validos is Oreo 8.0. I'm gonna try it now. Could you provide a link?

I flashed everything, but when I reboot, it doesn't load an OS. It just reboots to TWRP. Help!

While I was still on the stock Moto ROM, the last thing I did was fo a factory reset because I had a PIN/Pattern. So I did a factory reset then it took me back TWRP when it restarted. I flashed the Validus ROM and it flashed successfully, but every time I reboot, it goes straight back to TWRP.

Hmm... Which TWRP version did you use? r15 is the latest one(r9 worked for me too)... https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=817906626617952763
Download it & flash it in recovery as an image file.

I got out of the TRWP loop by flashing the stock moto ROM following this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...lash-official-firmware-moto-g5s-plus-t3681018
Something is wrong with Validus. I would advise against using this custom ROM.

Uh, nope. Not a thing wrong with Validus. Been running the 12/8 build flawlessly since it came out. It's your 1st day with the phone and you messed something up along the way...not a ROM problem...user problem.

Did you skip this step from the bootloader unlock thread after installing TWRP?
"Create a complete backup in this step. Do not do anything without taking backup
Now connect your phone to PC. You will see Moto Z storage. Move TWRP backup to PC from your phone. Also move music, images, video and everything to your PC.
Now go to wipe in TWRP and wipe data.
Now copy Magisk zip from PC to Phone.
Now go to install and select Magisk zip and flash. Now reboot to system."
Also, in the validus/GZR OP it has a zip file you need to flash if you had setup fingerprint on stock...did you try that?
"Note: If you set Fingerprint + Pattern/ Pin on Primary/Stock then you need to flash a Lock Fix file on Primary
Lockfix.zip"
