Hi. So i've been searching for hours and nothing is working. I'm trying to sideload modded aps onto my gw3. So far I've gone through:
[APP][MOD] Spotify Lite - scaled for standalone use on Wear OS
This is a mod of the Spotify Lite v0.6.6. The official Spotify app for Wear OS is not able to stream music standalone. Sideloading any Spotify works but the UI is obviously giant on Wear OS - see this recent Spotify screenshot from Wear OS. It's...

I'm having problems loading adb and getting the debugging wifi address. I tried searching youtube but there's nothing that goes over this. Is there a more detailed instructions on how to do this for the gw3? Thanks
I'm now getting this error:

Note this will only bluetooth pair, *not* gear manager connect. I know, limited use, but perhaps this step might help some other dev move forward in creating compatibility with other devices than samsung (especially those who don't have one, like me!
1. Build and install this app: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/14228289/android-device-bluetooth-pairing (or any app that can unpair / remove bonds)
2. Use it to unpair with your current gear manager device (click on the device in the list in the app, it should remove it)
3. Now, pair with your non samsung device
4. Should now pair without resetting
another approach
1. Pair and reset with another non samsung device. It will pair but that's it.
2. Pair with your Samsung Device (or go to the store and pair with a demo model)
3. Your device should still be paired with your non samsung device
For people who are trying gear manager connect via another device, there has been some success by installing all of the accessory APKs here:
http://www.mediafire.com/folder/iej2...Android43)_All
And then trying to connect. Note how it goes from 0/19 folders to 0/2 or so.
Another approach suggested: (hat tip jtuzyk : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2488516, reported to work with HTC One and Moto X)
Using another method i came across i was able to pair with HTC one, answer calls and use watch styler
1. Install Galaxy Gear APK manually
2. When Galaxy Gear App opens it tries to install 0/19 files it will restart and say 0/18
3. When it says 0/18, locate "GEAR" folder on SDCARD, inside it will create another APK. Manually install this apk.
4. Close Gear App and Repeat Process, i got all the way down to 0/8 (Music service apk fails) but the Gear is still usable for calls.

Anyways, let us know your success and failures and what platform / version of os you tried it on. Any information you provide can be helpful.
Tried it on various apple products, and it works! And by it, I mean only the dialer, and the watch speakerphone.

Yeah, that Bluetooth headset part is the only part that works without the gear manager (works like a standard Bluetooth headset)
Hi guys,
I've been trying to get full mirroring on my peugeot with mirrorlink without any success.
1 . WITH STOCK PHONE (no root) :
Mirrorlink is working with my car when I plug it, but due to restrictions you can't use what you want. I can only use authorized apps like deezer but loose the equalizer.
In order to use WAZE or MAPS, I followed many topics.
I tried with Button Savior method and LG mirrordrive, it doesn't work. For me this is purely a software restriction beacause Messenger pop-up come to my screen and I can fully respond on my car's screen !
I found a topic saying you can modify database of Mirrorlink app (with Android tools for example), to add authorized apps, I had exactly the same folder as in the topic but couldn't modify (no root)
2. WITH ROOT on stock firmware from sammobile
Android tools now fully works, but I don't get the same files in the Mirrorlink Database... strange
I tried tu plug-in to my car : it says on my phone "connected to your car with mirrorlink" but nothing on my car's screen, then after few moment I've got a message on my car like "authentification of the app is not valid"
So when I'm rooted, I can't use Mirrorlink anymore. (with SuperSu)
I tried flashing again with Magisk and hide root, no way.
I feel this is only little software security something but pretty annoying
I'd like this topic to be a reference for ANDROID 7.1.1 or Note 8 devices facing the same issue, because there no hint on the internet about this particular problem. It doesn't seem to be a problem on rooted android 6.0 devices...
I've found topic about screen mirroring fix (add line in build.prop), found about snapchat fix etc but no fix for Mirrorlink.
I tried to uninstall but forbiden even in root, and to install previous version, as well no way...
HELP !!
Fed up, I flashed my Note 8 with stock rom again.
After long long long try, I managed to get full mirroring with the classic method : Rock Scout screen, use Button savior tu initiate any app, and keep trying to clic on LG mirrordrive to get (or not) to full mirroring.
This is very instable, flickering, lagging... Useless but fun !
I saw a method with root to fix flickering but I'm not ready to root again if no one as a better solution.

Same problem here.
I figure out that I can't use different firmware from another country. I'm in Brazil, then I need Brazilian firmware in my phone. If I use another firmware my car don't recognize the apps Certification - doesnt matter if phone is root or not.
I'd like root my phone again but after December security update I think noone get root A5 again... .... I wanna change the mirrolink database and put there: android auto, google maps, waze.
You can use Samsung Car Mode - not very good, but fun. Problem: all whatsapp messages are read for you when you r driving, even when you dont want.
Hello
Did you find a solution to make work mirrorlink with root ?
Nope. I gave up.
Hello, i bought an app on google play that can launch any app on mirror link.
It's named "full mirror for mirrorlink" developped by SB-SOFTWARE.
Before pushasing the app, i looked for it on all apk plateforms but it's not available.
That works fine with youtube (maybe 0,5 sec sound delay).
On vlc, mx player, and other video players, i coudn't press play button.
Edit : no root needed
I finally can launch any app on mirror link in my car just doing what is describe in this video:

Samsung Phonecast don't work anymore since the Update to Android 10 on my S10.
Before that i could use any App on Phonecast qhile the Oculus App Store s bery limited.
My Phone was fully Usable in Gear with Phonecast.
Now it ist nearly Useless with the Gear. The only Apps i can use in Oculus on the Gear are Youtube and Netflix. Phonecast starts but when i start an App on Labs, it will not start and leeps loading without sucess.
Since the Update on Android 10 My GameLauncher is now difficult to start too, because i can not use it from the Buttom of the Screen. The Gamelauncher has no Link on its Quickpanel and i have to go over the Quickpanel of the Phone on the Top of the Screen.
I can not use my Linux App anymore since the Update on Android 10. Samsungs Linus on Dex Beta worked fine before, even qhen Samsung stopped supporting it, but since the Android 10 Update, i can not use it anymore.
And last, but not least, i can not go back to Android 9
Obviously Samsung did that intentionlly to force to dissaude us from the Gear VR like they did that with Linux on Beta.
Therefore to keep your will and to self-determined, you have to prevent the Update. But even that Samsung and Google want to enforce by announcing to force automated Updates in the next Future.
They want to dictate us how to use Equipments.
Wasn't it the Reason why Android was developed?
Now they use this against us.
But back to my first Problem:
Wgat is going wrong with Samsung Phonecast on Gear VR, when using it with Android on S10?

I have been reading the various threads and GitHub issues for popular custom AA apps and it seems nobody has really explained the real reason the apps are not working any more: any apps developed using an unofficial AA app SDK (aauto-sdk) OR using the internal AA APIs will no longer run (crash on start - the screen just blinks and goes back to AA launcher) because of this Exception:
java.lang.SecurityException: Wrong signature - go/gearhead-retail-device
There are temporary workarounds such as downgrading the Android Auto APK and preventing server-side config from downloading to device but currently, for normal non-rooted users which have auto-update on these apps won't work. Renaming their package names won't help either as they will still trigger the Exception when trying to show their UI on AA screen.
For AA developers: Google wants to limit the functionality of AA apps for various reasons, including safety while driving. The only official way to develop AA apps is to use the Android for Cars App Library. This library does of course not allow for low-level API access which custom AA apps relied on - no longer can you just manipulate your own Activity and draw normal Android UI. It also limits the amount of text/interaction permitted. This means any custom apps will have to workaround using the very limited APIs available in this library - a full redesign will be needed.
Perhaps load older version and either use a adb edit or a package disabler to kill updates on stock devices.
OTA updates is the first thing I lock down on a stock Android... once bitten, twice shy.
Any directions what someone which is rooted should do so, never need to update android auto? I have a dedicated phone for android auto in car. I use it only for this. But every now and then, android auto doesn't work and force you to update to last version. (in which last version custom apps doesn't work).
Some suggest use firewall for Google play services and android auto, to cut internet from those. I tried it but I'm not sure it's working..

You have to ID what are the offending update app/UID(s).
Google play Services can be temporarily disabled but it has dependencies like Gmail and certain 3rd party apps. The update app(s) may also be dependencies of this service.
Not a practical solution.
Each case is unique. Sometimes it's a force update to an app like in my Samsung's case, Wearables. The update screwed my Buds+ sound proper. Wearables checks for updates everytime it's used.
Solution: uninstalled new version, install older previous backup copy and use Karma Firewall* to ID the app's and/or UID when it connected to the internet.
Repeat above process as when it connected it again updated Except the second time around I firewall blocked Wearables (there are actually 2 that needed to be blocked) internet access.
Took close to an hour to troubleshoot, quit irritating.
Updates, destroyer of worlds
Yes, well... play with it
*Karma's valuable logging feature is blocked on Android 10 and higher. You can still ferret out the offending app/UIDs but it's harder
Actually app are working correctly on android 9\10\11 installed using aaad, kingInstaller or aaease. Unfortunately this error is showed on android 12 devices and can't find a workaround for now

As now on android 12 will work only with version 6.9xxxx44 but Google is start showing a notification to update, you can avoid it for now but I don't know how lot will work this trick. The other solutions is working with new version but is really annoying and practically you need to clear data of android apps every time you want to connect to the car and use custom app
Guys, I've a rooted Moto Z2 force, I'm plannig to use it as an android auto device only. AA is not available in the play store, but I can sidelode any version (I've downloaded the 7.2.62).
I'm tried a couple of tools, AA Tweaker, AA installer, etc, but so far only the cartube application is showing in the car screen (but e.g. fermata auto is not)
I'm planning to use the some official AA applications
- spotify, gmaps, waze, abetterrouteplanner
and would like to have
-youtube, netflix and maybe carscanner on the car screen (in motion as well for the passengers)
Please share you working setup, which tools and which versions (including android auto) are you using with android 9 - or point me to a thread where it is already discussed
Hi.
I have a non root samsung note 9(android 9) with wireless AA set up to aftermarket smart module connected to OEM headunit in my peugeot. Uninstalled AA. Installed screen2auto with AA Ease. Downloaded and installed AA 6.6xxxx version. Activated developer options and selected download from unknown sources. Playstore forced update on my phone to latest version 7.1xxxx but kept original settings and third party apps. Enabled wireless projections on settings and this works quite well provided bluetooth pairing. So can use voice control to for maps, music apps and receive and send messages.

Thank you very much, the android version was the problem I've installed AA version 6.9.613744 (instead of the latest 7.*) and everything started working instantly.
Sorry to bring this topic up again, the solution works for me for a few days, than AA is not showing the extra apps anymore. If I uninstall and install android auto again, it works again for a few days. I have no idea why, is there a blacklist AA downloads?

My samsung note 9 is non root. I installed as described above and still have apps on galaxy note 8(android 9) and note 9 ( recently updated to android 10). You can try clearing cache of AA. But you should read through screen2auto rooted thread as you will probably find solution and/or somebody will offer good solution.

Yes, Google blocked again all 3rd party apps with Android Auto 7.1.
With 7.1 I have the 3rd party apps for about 2 minutes. If I don't start Android Auto in this time, I have to clear data and cache of Google Play Services and Android Auto and do all the setup again. That means I have to do this before every car ride.
