That's because newer versions of EMUI prevent you from booting custom ROMs
I had the same issue
The way i fixed it was i flashed an older EMUI through Dload
Downgrading EMUI
Download this : https://androidhost.ru/1JVE
Extract it and put the dload folder into the root of ur sdcard
Turn off the phone
Press power and vol + & - buttons
Once u see huawei logo stop pressing power but keep doing on volume buttons
It will install
Now that you have downgraded your EMUI , you can unlock your bootloader again , flash TWRP, and flash your favourite ROM!
I hope i helped you ))

Hi all, this happened because I tried to downgrade my phone's firmware from Pie (2019-05 security patch) to 8.1.1 using the zip file in this thread. I did it once with stock recovery, unlocked the bootloader successfully and installed TWRP 3.2.3-1-NB1, then updated via OTA to Pie.
Then I tried to downgrade again using TWRP and after the reboot the phone was stuck on 9008 mode.
I'm trying to reflash it using OST 6.0.4 but it just says "Please connect your phone"

Hello guys,
Could someone help me with Magisk 23 (latest version) and my MI 9.
I have a rooted MI 9 with PixelExperience on it, and despite the tons of tutos about installing magisk... i can make this version work.
I'm following the "No RamDisk, No A/B" path, so patching the Recovery, but can't succeed.

If i flash the recovery : i get this
And if i try to patch it throught TWRP (despite this path being not recommanded) : it goes fine, but Magisk isn't detected once the phone booted.
Am i doing something wrong ?
Thanks
Try patching the boot image instead. Xiaomi are notorious for having a weird setup where there's no ramdisk, but the bootloader accepts the added initramfs in the boot image anyway. Details in the last paragraph here:
https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/boot.html#piecing-things-together
Hey,
I've tried : the installation works fine
But once booted : i get the message in the app the Magisk "Not Available"
I've tried to boot directly from the patched image : phone boots, but again. i get the "not available" status in the magisk app
Ok, "solved"
If someone get the issue : i followed what's written in there https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/issues/4394
Rolled back to 21.4, then god access to "direct upgrade" option, and now it's fine
After I tried everything to successfully root & TWRP my Mi 9 Cepheus, here's my GUIDE on how I FINALLY got it to work. This could very well work for you, too. You just have to follow this to the letter.
My device goes into bootloop yesterday's night and at morning device doesn't boot. I thought that resting from recovery would work but no luck. Then i downloaded the latest firmware and this showes. I need help please....

It's been a minute since I've flashed, but have you downloaded the Odin files to refresh back to stock?
Yes i had been tried to flash latest firmware and first firmware
From what I see Bootloader is locked, right ?
First firmware most probably won't work because you cannot downgrade the bootloader, so it needs to be the latest version.
What happens if you reboot from here (7 seconds Vol Down and Power) ?
Nothing it restarts and than a samsung logo and then shutoff
fireware binario 4 flash
I am flashing the same build
unlock bootloader cause OEM:ON(L)
Can we unlock bootloader by download mode because device not starts
is it exynos or snapdragon? also, is it 5g?

Based on picture download mode it's a G998B, so exynos S21U 5G.
@ShaDow18 It seems the Knox Guard is also locked. What have you done? Did you try to root the phone?
This did not happen like that..
What are the exact FW deginators you have tried/wanted to flash? Are you certain you have the right FW?
I tried to root but in middle it stopped and after that this happened
4bulf version i tried to flash
you tried to root it without unlocking the bootloader?
Hello to all the Mi9 Scene!
I bought a cheap bricked Mi 9 yesterday and i need some help unbricking it. The previous owner told me that the phone got bricked (stuck on MIUI logo) after an update. I already tried Mi Flash, with no success because the bootloader is locked and it won't let me flash. I'm also unable to unlock the bootloader because it was not configured on Developer Settings before. I also tried XiaoMiToolV2 and MiFlash Pro recovery metohod with no success.
Can anyone help me trying to bring this device to life? Maybe using EDL metohod will work?
Thanks in advance
use miflash, flash an official rom and choose below in the page lock option
MiFlash doesn't work on locked bootloader. I sold the device today for the same price that i bought. Thanks anyways
Same problem here.

Thanks for your future advices (and sorry for my English )
Hi,
I cannot boot into TWRP on my EVA-AL00, currently on Android 7. Bootloader is unlocked, ADB and drivers are installed, flashing now seems to go OK, but when it reboots, it goes into eRecovery or just doesn't boot at all.
I have installed the TWRP app via apk and I am using the latest EVA file from the TWRP website, 3.1.1.0. I've tried to access TWRP via adb reboot recovery or via the Volume up+power button, but both don't boot into TWRP.
I've tried to relock and unlock the bootloader, I installed Android 7 via HiSuite (I started out on Android 8, where the flashing only resulted in a broken recovery with Error 11 and 2), I've used various variants of installing TWRP via SRKTool and others, no success.
Endgoal is to flash a Android 9 or 10 ROM on this phone, for which the best method is via TWRP. If there is another way to install that ROM, I would also be happy.
Any suggestions are welcome!

I tried 3.1.1.0 from TWRP website too,
can not reboot into recovery,
if you are in andriod 8.0 now,
have try of twrp 3.2.1-0.
and andriod 8.0 support Project Treble,
you will find Lineage 16.0 (9.0) rom in XDA,
then flash it in fastboot mode.
