Question Anyone using the S21 Ultra naked or nearly naked? - Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

As the S21 Ultra is pretty heavy for a phone, it weights naked as much as let's say an OP 7 Pro with a back cover, this is the only thing besides price that is a bit negative for me to get one.
Anyone using it for a while naked (coverless) with only the screen protector on?
Though as I am not the kind of dude who drops his smartphone often, I wonder if a simple screen protection + a matte transparent skin for the back and sides ''military grade'' from a Mobile Outfitter or Mobicare or alike are enough to protect the S21 Ultra from scratches and rare small drops?
And btw as the back of the S21 Ultra is matte and I love it , applying a matte transparent skin will keep the same look?

Look at Memumi ultra thin case on amazon, its .3 mm thin

My phone is naked and doesn't have a screen protector lol. That's probably why I'm one of the few who isn't complaining about the phone getting super hot. Sure, it gets warm... But that makes me realize how much hotter it probably is for some of these people who have it in a case as thick as an Otterbox lol.
So just be aware that this screen won't particularly scratch necessarily... But with any impact (whether it's to the front OR the back of the phone) you can easily get some pretty significant cracks in the glass... I saw a caseless, 2-3 foot drop on YouTube and the entire device turned into a shredded piece of glass lol

Totally agree, Galaxy devices aren't immune from major damage even in short drops of 2 or 3 feet. At today's prices for a top shelf smartphone you'd be making a risky bet on a naked device. Users never plan on dropping their phones but it happens all the time.
Galaxy S21 drop test: Samsung's newest phones didn't last long
Our S21 broke on the first drop, while the S21 Ultra didn't fare much better. But there's a silver lining...

I never use a non-ruggedtized phone naked... a death wish.
ZIZO BOLT Series Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G Case
Engineered to protect against the unexpected. The ZIZO BOLT Series for Galaxy S21 Ultra is specifically constructed to withstand the most intense drops while keeping your device safe and secure. With countless hours of development and rigorous lab testing, the BOLT has surpassed the industry...
www.zizowireless.com
My 10+ wuvs to corner hit when dropped if it's not busy trying to faceplant it's self. The Bolt case has kept it intact for 1.5 years and make it easier to use/handle.
I use the wet apply Gorilla IQ Sheild for the screen. This one has been on for almost a year now.

I'm using official silicon case and the pre installed screen protector. Which only has 1 scratch so far. Pretty durable for plastic.

I just have a screen protector on my s21 ultra. Ill probably put a skin on the back. Not a fan of cases as it makes them bigger.

So a screen protector and a skin on the back and sides should be enough? I so like the matte back, it would be a shame to put a TPU cover

No case for me. Got fed up as I just couldn't find the right one. I probably purchased 10-15 including spigen, samsung. All either make it too big or wide, or no grip (like Samsung leather), or picks up dirt (Samsung plastic) or hides the design, or just plain unattractive. I never had a device so difficult for me personally to protect. Finally gave up.

Just a dbrand skin and Whitestone dome glass screen protector around the house, I use a PHNX MNML case if I go out around town or grocery shopping, decent protection for the sides and around the camera, super thin and sleek. I usually don't even notice it's on, so it just stays on most of the time.
Otterbox Defender Pro for if I feel like I'll need the extra protection (hiking, labor, etc).
Plan on grabbing an Otterbox Strada sometime to use on special occasions like fancy-dinner-date-night and all that.
But if you just wanna run naked, have at it, I don't feel too worried if I forget a case when I leave.

You nearly had me there with the thread title. Dang, I was so hoping to see some photos of people using the S21Ultra "naked or nearly naked" have a nice day!

I had a naked (albeit a skin from Dbrand) iPhone XS for two years. I had a screen protector and case on this S21 Ultra in the first week.

I was thinking same before but then I discovered PP cases. That material is so lightweight for s21 ultras. I ordered pp metarial case a few days ago and it came yesterday. It is so light just 7 grams. (I checked) Also I was ordered skins from aliexpress though. But I am very happy with this:

The problem with covers is that they don't have the same deep black as the s21u back

I don't even care what the back looks like... I just buy a dark colored phone as I know it will stay in a case.
You need a two layered solution preferably urethane/polycarbonate to protect these phones properly. It's not just a broken display or bent frame you want to avoid. High G impacts capable of doing damage like this can transmit the G loading to the mobo and chipsets causing high dollar internal damage. Downtime and potential data loss needs to be factored in to the risk acceptance.
It's only a matter of time before the phone kisses the tarmac... how well it lands is up to you.

though I'm having bunch of cases but since s9 plus I never used a screen protector as I just can't bear the color nor brigthness shift having a screen protector it really bothers me a lot as this is my main reason to have a galaxy phone, its superb screen quality, color and brigthness so can't bear to degrade it a bit

best protection?

is it seidio all the way?
looking for really good protection. want to keep my hero pristine
so, was looking @ the seidio innocase 2 and screen guard. any other suggestions or am i on the right track?
invisible shield
Love mine and wouldnt use a case or sleeve ever again. The only caveat is that it requires 12-24 hours to dry and set. Totally worth it though.
Seidio + Zagg shield = Ultra protection!
...was having a problem picking between the 2 so i use both
i use just the seidio holster and no other screen protection. I've never dropped my phone or put it face down on anything and I have zero scratches on the phone what-so-ever.
I occasionally find my phone in my pocket with my keys and loose change and still haven't notice anything more than a few finger print smudges that can be wiped clean. It's amazing having a phone with a glass face. Every other touchscreen phone I've had untill this point has had a "hard plastic" face and scratched fairly easily.
I had the zagg's on my other phones and I really don't prefer the image quality and texture of the touch screen after applying it. But to each their own. As far as cases/holsters I swear by seidio a million %, and if I liked the screen protectors I'd swear by zagg as well.
I'm a Zagg user. I've been using them since my Mogul. I can agree/say that when you first put it on the feel it gives you is offputting. You go from a super smooth screen that feels like an ice rink to one that is a little bit more sticky. It's not as easy to slide your finger across. However over time it dries up a bit more and you get used to it. The trade off for me is I beat the crap out of my phone and have never even damaged the shield, let alone the phone itself. I had one on my TP for a year before selling it and when I peeled it off the thing looked brand new. I believe that ghost armor advertises that theirs isn't sticky like "others". Or that may have been another company. I don't remember.
Every phone I've had before this one, I've put a case and InvisibleShield on it. When I bought my Hero, there were no cases/screen protectors available yet, so I had to make do without one. I eventually just forgot about getting one, and I've had mine for a month now with the only flaw being DUST UNDER THE SCREEN!! But yeah, since the screen is glass, it takes a lot more to scratch it than a plastic screen, and I've found that whatever the body of the phone is made of doesn't scratch very easily, or maybe it just hides them good. Either way, I don't drop my phones, put them near keys etc., and I don't let my friends hold my phone. I always tell them that if they drop it and break it or something happens, I'm not using my insurance on it (they're paying for it haha).
I haven't used the Seidio, because I think it looks 'cheap' from the pics I've seen floating around on Android Forums...
I bought the silicone skin from Handhelditems.com for $5 (approx) and besides the attraction of lint from my pockets, it works GREAT. I've accidently dropped my phone from about 5ft on tile, and with the silicon skin it just bounces.
I'm still looking out for a good full body case, but they have been hard to find.
just an f.y.i. the Seidio case is about the best case I have had on a phone. It fits like a glove and it very durable, thin and is smooth to the touch.
pictures don't do the case any justice in my opinion
I use a Boxwave Designio leather case (vertical flip) its great, it doesnt interfere with typing, the screen is protected at all times, I highly recommend it
http://www.boxwave.com/products/dlcase/sprint-hero-designio-leather-case_3718.htm
i ended up going with the seidio case and the boxwave anti-glare screen protector. it is supposed to be good... i still may get some sort of leather protection. i DO drop my phone... haha, you should see my touch... it's actually held together well with all the times i've dropped her!
oh and THANK YOU for all the suggestions, really appreciate it.
anyone know the best protection that will prevent screen breakage??? Cause my last hero fell like 6 inches and broke the screen, I dont think invisishield will help with that...
Currently I have a zagg invisibleshield and the htc silicon case.
The zagg at first didn't seem that great, but if you get it put on correctly (use the solution generously) it is very nice after it completely dries.
Only complaint I have with the zagg is that somehow even with all the preventive measures I still got a few small hairs underneath it, but only on the screen. They do have a lifetime warranty and I might try to utilize it to get a brand new front piece.
It is a bit sticky on the screen compared to the glass but really it isn't that bad at all. It becomes much more slick once it dries.
As a note on the toughness of the glass screen, I saw a video on youtube with a guy who took a razor blade keys and coins to a screen protector. After, he removed the protector and did it on the bare glass and he saw no scratches, nor were any apparent in the video.
As for the htc silicon, fits fine with the zagg on the device, but the silicon attracts tons of dust and fuzz. This still concerns me as I really want the dust kept away from the phone because my last phone got significant dust under the screen.
And a final note, the zagg does not protect the bottom edge where screen meets phone, and this is where my first developed dust under screen. The pieces are claimed to be cut perfectly but they really are not the exact dimensions of the device, leaving that space open. I actually cut off a very thin strip from the leftover material and laid it in that space, just to make sure.
Doesn't look super great, the little piece I stuck in, seeing as it is pretty hard to cut a piece that small, but I am more worried about keeping my phone dust-free than having the shield look perfectly invisible.
Can't complain about lifetime guarantee though, if they are reasonable with it.
anyone have a leather pouch they prefer?
Check out Boxwave's Designio case. Its not exactly a leather pouch (as in you take the cellphone out of the ouch to use it) but its great protection. I bought a PDair and didn't like it because it was hard leather and it interfered with typing a lot. But this Boxwave case is way better as it doesn't interfere with typing, and the whole phone is covered all the time while not in use.
(See the vertical flip because the horizontal flip doesn't protect the phone against falling from the top of the case, happened to me with the PDair cover I had and I was so PISSED OFF; you buy an expensive case, thinking your phone is greatly protected and it fell because of it).
i think this one is the one you mean (bottom)

looks nice. right now i have a verizon droid eris leather horizontal case and it is a little tight... i'm a little worried it pushed in my send/call button a little. i am probably just being paranoid though! i just can't tell how much it is supposed to stick out LOL
I use the Body Glove 2pc Snap Case and Invisashield. If you need a holster also, stay on your current track.
is the seido case for the hero all around even screen protector? i saw the video for innocase for other blackberries that cover everything, even comes with a silicon keyboard of their phones, but when i look at the hero pics of the case it doesnt look like it
from what i understand it does not protect the screen.... it covers the back, and the sides...
Just ordered BodyGuardz from amazon for my hero.
But I don't get even my hero and BodyGuardz.
When I get them, I'll post the review.

How do you protect your DINC?

I want to see how other users protect the DINC as I have my methods, and I want to see the best solution.
IN a perfect world I would rock it naked, but knowing that i have dropped the phone like 30 times, this is not an option..
Im using the Seidio Innocase II on my Dinc and I find I like this case best..
Should I use a screen protector on my next phone? I dont use one now... but i paid dearly.... I was using a smaller case and the phone fell face first to the ground and when i picked it up it has small hairline scratches on the screen...
Needless to say I switched back to the safety of the Seidio Innocase II with its lip to protect falling on its face, but..
I dont know what to do.. Im not going to buy a screen and replace it..
and I hate screen protectors...
Hmm... What to do for next time.
Hate or not it's still cheaper than replacing the screen. I use the Seidio Innocase II with the Seidio crystal screen protector and have droped my phone about 100 times so far and no damage.
Hmm, i dunno
i have a Seidio SURFACE case with a ZAGG screen protector (only reason i got this was because of the life time warranty). not one scratch, dent, or anything on the body or screen of the phone. the case how ever has been through hell and back.
I keep mine where it's safe

Seideo active case, no screen protector.
Had a screen protector on it before and my screen shattered, only cost $30 to replace anyway so if anything happens bad enough again, I'll just replace again.
Likely won't ever or at least won't happen for a long while.
I used the gloss silicone cover sold by Verizon for the first year that worked very well and protected my phone from drops onto concrete, brick, and marble. I just bought the $5 Speck case from Verizon that I really like so far but haven't "tested" it.
I used a screen protector for a while, but didn't like the rainbows caused by finger smudges, so now my screen is unprotected (but still in perfect condition).
Silicone case and my pleather HTC belt case. No screen protector i got sick of them. I cook pizza and stupid flour used to always get wedged under my screen protector so i stopped using them.
Hmm yea i will prob stick to the seidio innocase screen protectors suck

I think screen protectors get a bad rap because of installation issues. I bought a three pack of screen protectors from Amazon for less than a buck, and they work great. Spend the time to install them right and I haven't had one come off.
It might be slightly more prone to fingerprints and glare but the ones I use are clear with no rainbowing.

Verizon screen protector and speck shell. Both of these work great together.
Sent from my HTC Incredible using XDA App
I use the Verizon shell/holster combo. Well, I don't actually use the combo, just the shell. It's a one-piece cover that clips onto the phone. The shell protects the camera lens and its edges help protect the screen as well. Since the shell doesn't cover the ends of the phone (just the sides), I can wipe the screen off without getting an accumulation of grease and dirt just inside the shell's edges.
I have never used a screen protector. I got my DInc days after its initial release and still have a perfectly smooth screen, so why bother? I usually put the phone in an otherwise empty pocket, whether it be in jeans, cargo shorts, or a jacket.
I do have a few very minor nicks along the top and bottom edges of the phone, but they can barely be felt and you have to hold the phone at the perfect angle to see them.
I'm hoping my next phone and case hold up as well as my DInc.
For a year my phone was naked, got dropped a couple times on tile floors and hardwood - the battery door would fly off, sometimes the battery would pop out - took it like a champ. Then my poor phone met concrete paving stones. It didn't like them and the screen shattered. So after getting a replacement it now resides under a screen cover from htcpedia and a silicone case.
Rocked it naked for about 6 months until it took its first drop, now it's in an OtterBox Commuter series case without screen protector. only a couple minor scratches around the outside edge of the phone from the drop, screen has minor wear and tear (small surface scratches, have to be in BRIGHT light to see them).
I have the invisible shield for the face and I have the seidio active burgundy case and they work great together. The invisible shield is great and the response on the touch screen is like its not even there.
It would take a lot of hard thrashing to even begin to damage my incredible.
Trident Kraken Case
Zagg screen protector (because it's never gone more than a minute without a screen protector...ever)
I watched a video of a shop selling the Trident Kraken and they put the phone in the case, climbed a ladder 10 feet high, and dropped the phone from the top and his arm's length. He let go and it bounced a couple times upon hitting the PAVEMENT. He got down and showed the camera that it was still perfectly alright. I was sold, and bought the case a few minutes later online. They have many different colors and replacement parts. I got grey/black.
I took the phone out a few weeks ago to change the battery and it still looks as good as it did the day I bought it. I've dropped it, bouced it, even thrown it all the way accross my shop to someone who didn't catch it and it hit a toolbox instead. Didn't even scuff the case.
Sure it's a bit larger, but I don't mind at all since I've been looking for a tough android smartphone since android came out. And since I had to buy the entire phone myself not on a plan, I don't get insurance, so the case doubles as my insurance policy, as well as making it strong enough to take to work with me and not have to worry too much.
Take a look at the Trident Kraken. Its also cheaper than other comparable tough cases.
I will only buy Otterbox cases, I have the Commuter case on my inc with their screen protector.
I have owned several seidio cases, they just don't match the quality or customer service of Otterbox.
I am biased because my dog recently went after my phone and the otterbox saved it from destruction
I'll be honest, when I first got my Inc, I had nothing on it for about 2 weeks. I ordered some cheap case/screen protector/car charger for like 4 bux on ebay. It's the same case the kiosk at my mall sells for 20. So I laughed. It was super tight on it when I first put it on, but because of the stupid design for the sd card under the back cover, I had to remove it. After taking off a few times, it started being very lose, and eventually broke.
The screen protector has held up pretty well, other than a deep gash in one spot, but it's not in the functional part of the screen, but in the blackened part towards the top right corner.
Recently, I picked up a *speck case from Verizon for like 5 bucks, and it's made my Inc the perfect size for my hand. The other case gave me problems with hitting the "p" button when I texted because of my fat fingers lol. The speck case is absolutely perfect. Would prefer it was pure black rather than red rimming, but it'll suffice until I upgrade to the Vigor.
Had a kraken and since have gone back to the vzm high gloss silicone case. This case has saved my phone a number of times and I consider the incredible to be a durable phone. I've thrown this phone through a wall and its still working.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I used to have it in a (pleather?) case I got from verizon when I got it. That lasted about a year before it got too worn down. I then had it in a cheap case that was horrible and I ended up throwing away, so now it is not in a case.
I always have a screen protector on it. If there is one thing that is super annoying on a phone when it gets scratched, its the screen.

Best screen protector for the s6 edge

I've got the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and while it is beautifully made of corning gorilla glass 4, I couldn't afford to just leave it naked, especially that it's valued at $700+. I've got four screen protectors on my list that qualifies for the S6 Edge.

My first choice was Skinomi but at that time, it run out of stock so I've looked for another brand and choose IQ Shield Liquid Skin protectors for my device. If you asked me why I didn't choose SuperShields eventhough it was relatively super cheap, $1.99 , it's because their reviews are not satisfactory and Armorsuit was too expensive.
Oh well, IQ Shield Liquid Skin protectors on Amazon claims to be "smooth to touch, anti-scratch, no bubbles, edge to edge coverage, clarity and ultra responsive". Did it live up to their advertisement? I cannot say it was 100% but it was close to perfect. It was ended smooth to touch, edge to edge coverage and ultra responsive. There were bubbles and it was not clear right after installation but it says on the box that it should dissipate after the film settles onto the device, 3-4 days or so and it did. The anti-scratch is yet to be tested. But so far, all is well. I have no complaint.
Word of caution,it's wet install but I can vouched that it's harmless. Just be sure to follow the instructions and no, you don't need to wait for 48 hours so you can use your device. I did it at night before going to sleep and the next day, I was able to use it. Bonus, they offer lifetime warranty.
I tried the supershield. It did fit edge to edge, however it did not stick to the edges well. I found myself having to push the edges down every time I picked the phone up. It was very annoying. Finally, I just took it off. I'm now waiting for the skinomi skin I ordered. I've used skinomi before several years ago but it was a design and not clear. I'll update once I try it out.

How easy is it to install? Usually you use the corners as visual cues for alignment, and I feel it's gotta take at least a little longer to install the damn thing on the phone, haha. Really, though, wish phones just came with these things installed. I'm pretty good at installing things now, but every time I do it, I get a ridiculous amount of stress.
super easy; I used to sensors on top to get the alignment, and once that was in place it was simple to just lay it down, move it around slightly, and push the bubbles and water out from the center to the edges. Once that was in place, I waited a minute or two, the went over it again, pushing out all the bubbles and moisture, and then used a credit card wrapped in the included cloth to push down the edges, and boom, entire job took less than 5 minutes.
There is a video on their site showing you how to do it, but it was super easy. Once its on nice and flat, leave the phone alone for a couple of hours, and, you should be fine. I waiting until the next morning to put the case on, just to make sure not to push the edges up, and its fine now!
The IQ Shield was on sale yesterday. Not sure if it still is. http://slickdeals.net/f/7784145-iq-...ipped-full-body-1-99-shipped-amazon-deals?v=1

Probably the first phone im not even going to bother with a screen protector. The gorilla glass is just that good on its own lol. See how i go, hopefully I won't regret it
I had one of the invisible shield ones installed at best buy today. Fits perfectly and they did a good job with it. Prefer the glass ones, but this looks good. Wish they'd had a back version.

Guys, I tried Skinomi and it looked ugly, I guess the liquid installation ones are sorta rubbery and take the beauty and ease of use away. I will use mine naked with low profile case. Also, if anyone is interested in Skinomi from amazon.com, here are some promos, it makes it under a dollar shipped for screen protector only!! Hit thanks if you like.

Don't bother with the Healing Shield Matt. Yes it covers the whole screen but nightmare to apply and impacts the quality of the screen too much. Makes the screen too fuzzy http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/251899776472?nav=SEARCH

I'm considering whether or not to keep my S6 Edge as the glare on the corners on the sides is bothersome when watching videos. Do any of the screen protectors mentioned in this thread help cut down on glare? (I was thinking the Skinomi Matte Skin based on the reviews)
I'm convinced that the Edge feels like a more engaging device without a screen protector getting in the way
the Skinomi fits really well, and doesn't get in the way of anything, and gives you a little piece of mind, in case you drop it on a rock face down..

Between these two, I'll go for Skinomi. Like I've said earlier, Skinomi was my first choice but they run out of stock. Now that I have IQshield LiquidSkin screen protector, I'll settle for this and see how long it will lasts. So far it's doing good. Btw, Skinomi really have great fitment, great reviews.. Try it and see for yourself
Hey guys check out Verizon. They carry a dry version of Zagg that does not use a liquid spray. It comes with front and back and covers edges as well. I picked it up at my local corporate verizon store. I tried it out as I couldn't seem to find a dry install anywhere online and personally don't like the protectors that use liquid sprays. I personally like it and think it looks great. It takes a day or two to finally set in. After the second day mine self healed all the bubbles and looks perfect now.

Sent from my SM-N910T using XDA Free mobile app
A curved design non tempered glass though. But not sticky enough on sides to keep screen protector in place on one side so have ordered a replacement http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/olixar-f...xy-s6-edge-curved-screen-protector-p52772.htm

[Review] Nillkin Frosted Case & XD CP+ MAX screen protector

So I got the Nillkin Frosted case and XD CP+ Max screen protector, here is the review.
The case color is nice, similar to the blue that is on the phone, so it fits well. Case is thin, textured on the back and side which makes it very comfortable on the hand, it's lightweight as well which is good. As with you expect from a thin lightweight case like this, protection won't be much, it'll save you from a short fall but nothing Mil grade protection here, no complaints.
The camera protection clearance is actually quite good, considerably more than the plastic one that comes with the phone, very happy with this.
The only Con is that when used with the same brand tempered glass, the lip sits lower than the screen protector which means don't lay the phone face down on scratching surfaces.
Now on to the screen protector. Very nicely made, heavy, good touch experience, no problem with fingerprints(you will have to re-enroll prints for best exp).
The application is a breeze, just lay it down, don't even have to apply any pressure and the adhesive will stick, removing bubbles is easy too. I left 1 small dust particle somehow and now it's visible on the screen, don't know if that will annoy me or not, might have to reapply it or use the 2nd one that I bought. This is totally my fault though. The edges of the screen will be covered just a little bit, but I don't see any problems with that, everything displays fine in full, the tiny edges covered don't make any difference once you got used to it.
So to sum up. Happy with the case. Very happy with the protector.
I'll probably wait for a nice sturdy case from some US brand to replace this one though, lip protection isn't enough.

Great review, one thing I was wondering, any chance of weighing the case? I was considering the official oneplus Karbon case, that weighs only 13 grams, but costs a lot more, I know that Niikin cases are good quality at the right price...
Do you know how much the case weighs?

no. I don't have that kind of scale to weight it properly. It's real light, it's equal to the clear case that comes with the phone at best, if not lighter.
And seeing pictures on the Karbon case I don't think they differ much in terms of protection, this one got more grip for sure. Also in the blue color very closely matched with the phone color if you have the glacier blue

I have the same colour of 7t , I must admit I tend to like black cases, they Karbon case is only 13grams, which is very light, I did ask on Amazon with regards to the case the weight of the Nillkin frosted case and the seller said it weighed 21gram....still nice and light, but I find the 7t a tad heavy with my current case on which is nice and protective, but weighs 32grams, I like my case etc, but the weight is kinda heavy in the hand.
I have ordered the Nillkin case from eBay from a Chinese supplier, so bit of a waiting time, but great value at only £5.40 delivered.
I am a bit unsure about spending £27.95 on the official Karbon case for the 7t, but I do know they are quiality feel in the hand.
I have had Nillkin cases in the past and I have always found them to be good quality, I shall confirm the cases weight once it arrives.
I just got this case from AliExpress for 3.5$, it's a beautiful case. Fits the 7T perfectly and cutouts are perfect too.
Does the tempered glass border cover portion of the screen?

yes it does. And more than the official glass. If you can get it and can afford it I'd still recommend official. But this one does a fine job
This is the case that was super, super slippery when I tried it. Damn near dropped my phone because of it. Sent it back.

really? Defo not to me, it has textured surface on the whole back and also on the sides, no way it's slippery. Maybe you got a different version, check my pictures
Can you add a picture of the camera bump with the case on? I use it on my Pocophone and love it, but I already ordered the 7T and want to see If i order one for it.

Why can't they make a completely transparent one without black borders? All screen guards these days come with those ugly borders.

Because they actually don't stick to the edges. The shape of the screen makes it impossible for the protector to stick correctly and it makes appear some areas which are not in contact to the screen. The black parts are actually not sticking.
What I am waiting for from Nillkin is the Nature case. Because of the Gray variant. I have the Frosted Silver variant. Even though I liked the free case inside the box... it makes the phone a lot more frosted white. Especially on the sides. If only OnePlus provided the smoke gray color just like on OnePlus 6T, It would've been perfect.

Review: Schnail Titan for Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Case (2020 Screenless Version)

So. I got my cases today and popped mine into it.
Here are some takeaways right away:
It's rugged. It would take a lot of bad luck to damage the phone
It IS Thick, but if you are into the Otterboxes, you're fine
No more camera bump, this lays flat and smooth
The edges come up enough to protect the screen from a drop
The back is plastic, but that does not bother me
The rubberized sides give a great grippy feel to it
It was really easy to install (top first, then slip it into the bottom)
It has a kickstand (more on this below)
USB-C Port Protective Cover, not really needed, but it's nice
Works with wireless chargers
Works great with my Whitestone Dome screen protector, and with the installation I don't see why it would have issues with any screen protector
All in all, it's good so far after initial install and impressions.
My only real issue is the kickstand. It's nice, sturdy and I don't have to worry about it collapsing, but it's a little tough to get back in.
Regardless, that being my only real issue and the fact that I am not really much of a kickstand user anyway, I'll use this as my daily case for now and update as time goes on.

Mine is due in Saturday per the tracking, and I'm interested to see if it actually works with a screen protector because the Supcase Unicorn Beetle case I have now (that looks suspiciously like the Titan, but hell, who knows...they're all made in China, and likely in the same factory, so there's bound to be a lot of similarities) managed to crack mine just by placing the phone inside the case.
Now to go check to see if Whitestone ever shipped out my replacement UV adhesive........

This was a marketing ploy to promote a product across various forums through inherently biased "reviews" generated by promotional discounts/free product (something you should always disclose).

FWIW, I received a complimentary case (though they've yet to reimburse me...so "complimentary" may be a bit premature at this point lol), but they explicitly stated in our email conversation that a review wasn't necessary to receive the reimbursement. They honestly seem like they just want some word-of-mouth from folks if the product warrants it. I do agree, though, that any/all reviews made about a complementary product should always include a disclaimer saying the product was complementary (even if there are no stipulations from the seller that say you only get the product if you leave a positive review. )

The case itself actually isn't all that bad either. It's not the greatest case to ever be designed, no, but it's still a good little big case at a fairly low price point. I have a blue Supcase Unicorn Beetle case for my N20U that is very similar in design and price to the black Schnail Titan case I received, but each has their own little design differences that may make them better or worse for users depending on their preferences.
The Titan is just flatter and more squared off in about every fashion, whereas you can tell the UB designers really liked their rounded/beveled edges. The Titan also has more plastic (or maybe just harder rubber?) than the UB, and I'm really on the fence about that. I think that the Titan won't absorb/transfer as much impact as the UB since the UB seems like it'd be more prone to bouncing, but at the same time I wonder if the UB won't also be prone to transferring that impact to the phone since most of the outer shell is as squishy as it is. That said, the UB does come etched with a MILSPEC standard number supposedly certifying that it meets or exceeds that standard's drop test requirements, but who really knows if it's legitimate or not. The Titan doesn't come stamped with anything other than the usual branding marks, but I do think the website said the cases were drop tested at some point - again, legitimacy of those claims aren't verifiable. One thing of definite note IMO is that my UB did NOT play nice with my very expensive Whitestone Dome glass screen protector. It actually cracked a corner of the protector simply by installing the case, so I was bummed about that. I'm waiting on Whitestone to send me more UV adhesive resin so I can install my other protector and I guess I'll give the Titan a shot at not cracking it lol I'm cautiously optimistic that it won't crack it simply because of the (somewhat unexplainable) size differences in the cases. The Titan is actually smaller somehow than the UB, and the front of the case where you sort of dock the phone prior to wrapping the back shell around it seems to be narrower edge-wise than the UB (not to mention that top-to-bottom, when both are sat on a flat surface, the Titan is actually about half an inch shorter than the UB - I swear it's black magic...or just some really weird differences in design lol), so I'm hoping the protector has more wiggle room on the Titan than the UB.
Anyways, it's just a case of difference strokes for different folks. I may swap in and out of the cases depending on how the Titan works with my Whitestone, but neither one is inherently better/worse than the other...I'm just glad we have decent options that aren't crappy silicone lol
