Question QR scanner in the camera - Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

Hi friends,
Has anyone tried the native QR scanner in the camera? I tried to scan a QR code but all I get is a "tap to scan" option and upon tapping nothing comes up! Am I missing some option?

The attached screenshot is what I see when I point my phone camera at a QR code
Tapping the window opens the webpage

Using Barcode Scanner to quickly launch Market from Cyrket

Hi guys, I posted this in another topic as a fav app and someone suggested creating a topic for it for those who might find it usefull and may have missed it.
Cyrket has QR Codes on all app pages and you can use Barcode Scanner to quickly read that code and launch straight into the app in Market.
Sounds garbled to explain it so I chucked a quick vid on youtube to show you how...

Yep....been doing this for weeks now.....love it.
Also very handy for similar things....like installing non-market apps.....the firefox extension to generate the QR code on your screen for links.
Very handy.
my barcode scanner doesn't decode QR codes, idk why.

Are you using this one? Are you trying to scan QR codes on paper or off your lcd? If the latter, is your lcd of the glossy reflective variety?

Yeah i'm using the same scanner that is in the link and i'm trying to scan QR codes from my computer screen. I tried reinstalling plenty of times, but it makes the clicking sound constantly and nothing comes up.. its weird. it scans regular barcodes very quick

Repeated clicking means your Dream is cycling through its focus range trying to find a barcode it can recognize.
What is your screen size and resolution? Most QRcodes are created with the width of a QR pixel to be about 5 or so screen pixels. If your resolution is too high, you might have to hold the Dream very close to the screen. In general you want to get the QR code to fill the entire outlined box in Barcode Scanner. If that means you have to bring your Dream so close to the screen that it can't focus, then you need to make the QR code bigger.

Selective focus file issues

I was playing around with the camera today and took a couple of photos using selective focus. When I view the files in the gallery, there is an icon on the photo showing that it is a selective focus photo. If I click on that icon, I get an error message that says "all actions associated with this action have been turned off, blocked, or disabled. I have disabled some packages, but didn't think I blocked anything that should affect this. Can someone let me know what happens when they click on the icon for a selective focus photo? Thanks in advance.

You disabled com.sec.Android.ofviewer (out of focus viewer). Re-enable it.

Photo's not saved when phone is locked while taking picture

I have set the AI button to open the camera after 2 clicks, which it does, also of course when the phone is locked.
In this state when you make a picture, you get the result with a No/Yes selection under the picture once you took it.
Whatever you select there however, the picture is not saved on the device and just disappears
Is this yet another bug or am i missing something ?
Same
Same here! I don't get it.. the phone seems pretty buggy
Yep it is... Try to bind camera app on for example double click Vol- then it works

Strange camera behavior when using AI button

Hi all
I've just run into one of the strangest problems.
I have assigned the "open the rear camera" option to a long press on the so-called AI button.
Strange enough, pictures taken in the camera app opened after long pressing the AI-button, don't save on the device. They just disappear and are not visible in the gallery either.
When I open the camera-app with the regular shortcut, taking pictures works normally and I can find these pictures in the gallery as expected.
I really can't get my head around this. Is it a bug? Can anybody else replicate this?
me too
Same here reported the problem in another thread earlier already

Global , and the AI button double click to go to the Camera
Weird that not more people report this problem.
**edit** Does work with setting click twice volume down key, you will get the normal camera mode.
The mode the camera gets in when pressing the AI button has just 3 modes and doesnt save pictures, very very weird bug.
Global Rom indeed.
I mapped the AI button to the camera in the settings menu. There's no way to choose which app opens, there's a limited list and one of the options is "rear camera".
What Magst64 says is correct: only 3 modes in that camera app and pictures cannot be saved.
I'll see if there's any way to make a bug report.
im stuck on China rom until i unlock bootloader, so cannot check.
i would suggest to raise this bug on the MIUI forum.

Quick Settings QR code scanner bottom is disabled after update to Android 13 on Pixel 5

Hello, community. A week ago I update my pixel 5 to the new android 13 and after that I'm unable to use the new qr code scanner bottom on quick settings, the option is disabled and I don't know how to enable it.
So I need to install a specific app or do some configuration on my phone?? I scan the qr codes with Lens and it's works fine.
Any ideas of what's happening??? Thanks in advance.

I'm not on Android 13 but one thing that comes to mind is the "Camera access" quick settings toggle.
I'd assume that needs to be enabled as you are using the camera for QR Code.

Hi @andybones, thanks for the reply
And yes, the "Camera Access" quick settings option is enabled, see the screenshot I originally posted. It is above what is indicated in red color.

Ahh my apologies, I didn't enlarge the picture so I missed that the toggle was enabled.
Silly question, but have you tried removing the tile, and re-adding it?
I'm on A13 and mine works just fine.

Hello, thanks for answering.
That was the first thing I did when I realized that the qr code scanner was disabled.
Did you fixed the issue yet?

Hello, no man, the problem still persists, on my phone
I am having this problem too. Very annoyed that A13 broke ZXing Barcode Scanner app, as I prefer the capabilities of that app to the Quick Settings tile. Not having a working QR scanner in 2023 is hard to fathom.
QR code scanner black screen - Google Pixel Community
Following up here. I contacted Google Support and got the following:
Clear Data of Google Play services.:
Go to device Settings
Tap on Apps > See all apps
Top right corner > three dots > Show System
(Google Play services.): Storage > Clear Data.
After trying the above step, it will download some data. So please wait for a couple of hours and then restart the device and then test.
I had tried these steps before contacting Google Support, but I must not have waited long enough for data to download. When I rebooted today and checked, the thing seemed to be working. Very odd, but perhaps patience is needed.
