I haven't exactly measured the battery life on Android 11 but it seems noticeable worse than it was on Android 10. What are your experiences? Is there a well measured comparison?
I get more or less the same idle %/h drain that I had in A10 (around 0.8%/h) which is fine overall.
That said I had to disable some built-in bloatware that came with the new OneUI, nothing major just apps like AppCloud and AR Emoji/Stickers.
I do havely rely on the auto battery optimization where it adds unused apps to limiter background usage or even directly disables them. (I just maintain the whitelist of "never sleeping apps" and let it do the rest)
Even I have noticed slightly reduced battery life on OneUI 3.1 as compared to OneUI 2.5. Whatsapp seems to be the culprit for me

Just wanted to share that the battery life is very good on the X9. I am getting about 5.5 hours of screen-on-time.
I unplug the phone at 6am and at 11pm there is still 15% left with at least 5 hours of SOT.
That's excellent, I'm only getting around 3 hrs SOT myself.
Yes, I confirmed it. My X9 is in good battery life, normally I only need charging it once per day, even if I used it to browse web, some gaming.
Same here. SOT is consistently 5hrs+. This includes some gaming , alot of web browsing and some music.
Screen at 40% , 4g off , battery saving location setting and haptic feedback/ touch sounds disabled.
Everything else default.
Even if fast charging is only ver. 1.0 battery life is good enough to not need faster.
Very happy with this phone all around.
Slightly disappointed with the battery life. The standby power usage is not great compared to my other modern android phones. It is lightly debloated with all the power saving feature on except power save mode. Using power save mode only brings it to about the same level of my other phones without it on... Then, there is my Z3c.
~5hour screen on time is not great as well. Comparing similar screen size phones, it is pretty bad as I get about 6 on my Note4 (which is faster and pushing a higher resolution), and Zuk Z1 (CM13 with undervolt), which easily get 9-10+.
Edit: Some overnight numbers.
My main phone is an S6 and before going to bed was @ 43%. Checked phone 11 hours later = 38%. This is with wifi on and syncing 3 google accounts, 1 IM, NO SOCIAL MEDIA.
X9 @ 52%, with Wifi, sync off (no IMs/SM installed), no BT, no location, 2 SIM active (both get 5 full bars @ connection) = 41% checked at the same time. Doze is on and confirmed working. I've used with only 1 SIM before and it really doesn't change the numbers that much. I wouldn't be so harsh on the phone if it had quickcharge 2.0. But it only charges slowly @ ~5V 0.96A. There is something funky with the charging numbers, since it bumps up to ~1.1 amp after ~80%. It also doesn't trickle charge after 90% and only drop to trickle charge after hitting 100%. I am not sure about the battery longevity on this thing.
I had bought my x9 2days back battery drains very quickly.....disappointed any solution plz

Same with all phones... check all which apps are the most hungry.
If you suspect its an hardware issue, factory reset then uninstall/disable as many apps as you can, charge up and let it run and see if it last normally.
Usually it should be some apps eating up the battery.
Dears All
There is an app (3C Battery Monitor Widget) in which you can inspect your battery to see if it works in normal condition or not. It shows you amount of real amperage drained from cellphone battery in different situation.
As I tested mine (htc one x9) it drains maximum current when capturing photo or recording video, location(gps) is on and map apps like google map is live, switching between different applications which result to rise frequency of cpu up to maximum (1.95 or 2.2 ghz in different model).
If you enable power saver mode in setting, maximum frequency of cpu wil be limited to about 1.32 ghz and conserves more battery and limits drained battery current below 900mA otherwise in aforementioned cases drained current will be raised above 1000mA and it is obvious that (3000mA/hrs) battery will be empty during 3hrs. Anyway normal application such as web surfing (specially with WiFi instead of mobile network), listen to music, talk with phone and brightness of display below 50% will result to more than 5hrs SON.
If you need more battery SON, one way is limit CPU/GPU frequency and some more sophisticated setting (you should first unlock boot loader, then root and also install kernel application or change stock kernel with custom kernel which can support change of CPU parameters the former is easier and the latter I couldn't find until now anything)
Finally I would be happy to announce you that I could reached 8 hrs son with this technique on my HTC ONE X9.
Battery life is quite good on my device too. Although I have disabled touchboost.
To disable touchboost open build.prop and change
ro.mtk_perfservice_support
From 1 to 0. Root is needed though.
Also limited max. Freq to 1.7GHz
1.9GHz is just an unnecessary heat generator and battery drainer.
I am running 7.1.2 and a few weeks ago I noticed my battery usage during idle went up drastically to ~5%/hour, with the phone just idle, airplane mode, on wifi. No Facebook, no bad apps, just very minimal. So I installed Wakelock detector and I see my cpu is being kept awake by Google play services. Turning off BT/GPS etc didn't make a difference. I'm running LOS with the Blackbird kernel.
So now I'm a bit lost. I know Android is extremely inconsistent and things like this can happen for no reason. I have no clue how to tackle this except reformat/try a new Rom.
Hello!
I've been experiencing worse battery life on my Nokia 8 since Pie upgrade, I haven't installed any apps nor services...
Note that the battery improved -but not as good as Oreo- after calibration using an app...
Are you experiencing the sane issue? Or should I further investigate?
Thank you..
yes
Same here. I got 12 hours screen on time once on oreo but now, it is a dream. Battery drains fastly due to background services. App restriction doesn't work as well as oreo's restriction. So, this situation causes battery draining. Also there is a weird thing i've faced, battery drains quickly from %100 to %95. I am waiting for Maintenance Release impatiently.
is battery life on oreo really that good?
I'm using pie since day 1 and never got more than 7h sot and 1.5 days.
My battery life is dire since pie, I was impressed with the battery in the 8 until this update, I cant even make a day without having to charge. When I say day I mean from 7am to 10pm as its left charging overnight.
Before pie I could quite happily last 2 days between charges, I'm not a heavy user, initially I thought I must be using the phone more. But I'm actually using it less just so it makes it to the end of the day!
Somehow it's worse again today, dead by 4:30!
Basically just checked phone to see the time, around 10 minutes of faffing in the morning, rebooted it before charging last night incase sonething was using battery. Madness!
For me, I've given my phone a factory reset before I installed the Beta labs/initial final(V5.110, December 2018-January 2019) build. Despite that, I did notice my battery life taking a hit when running this iteration of Pie. I was at most getting not more than 5 hours of SoT on average. And I do use my phone a lot throughout the day, the camera, web browsing, videos and social media. Meanwhile on Oreo, I can get 6 hours on average no problem. Sometimes even 7 hours if I'm lucky.
After updating to V5.140(February 2019) with Adaptive Battery brought in, I seem to have gotten back my average SoC just like when my phone was running Oreo. Running 5-6 hours on average. I'm not sure if Adaptive Battery has anything to do with this since I did notice the improvement immediately. I also disabled some of the Evenwell crap before updating to V5.140, so that may or may not have an effect.
If apps restricted didnt work then try manually restrict each app go to ur up hold it then info Then choose battery from there change background restriction
Ifaced this problem in beta when iwas sleep and wake up morning my battery was almost below 20 percent but i manually restrict all apps and its working 100 percent ?
Sorry to heat that. Have you tried installing some apps like better battery stats to see what exactly is saying up your battery? If your phone is rooted consider installing ForceDoze from f-droid and maybe WakeBlock to regulate some wakelocks that may be the cause of your terrible battery life. I have been able to get great battery life using the latest put version. See screenshot below from a few days ago.
I know that this is old thread but i have solution which i use with my nokia. change default launcher to another lightweight. This works and my battery feel better.
I should of updated, battery went back to normal after newer updates.
However, biggest thing for me, using DNS666 Ad blocker has seemingly doubled my battery life, might be a combination of just gotten bored of the phone or blocking all the ad's saves battery, or a bit of both, its also made the phone feel a lot more responsive overall, i'm using Squarehome as my launcher so maybe that was affecting the battery before?
Maybe which update can fix battery life? I rooted my phone and can't download latest update.
So did anyone else get terrible batterylife with andeoid 10?
I went from 8h SOT to about 5h.
Am thinking of downgrading cause before it was the best phone ive ever had
There isn't 10 for my csc yet
Anybody else confirming bad battery life on 10?
how where you getting 8hours sot... i was getting 6 and now 5 but i do have a lot more idle cause of the quarantine

Wish I could tell you. All I know is it was the best battery I've seen. Was using it 'normally' and throughout 24 hours I got 7-8 hours battery life always, every single day for half a year. With music streaming for 1-2h, some browsing, location on, bluetooth on, and all apps like facebook, instagram etc. disabled.
Now I get 2 hours 20 mins and its already on 48%. Android 10 was a garbage and I wish I could downgrade without much hassle. I cannot find out what is draining the battery, there is no app. If I account for the apps it has used around 1000mah or less, which is 1/3rd, wihc would put me at around 70% - that would be my old battery life. But there is something else draining 20-30% battery and it is not shown in the battery reports, I am using accubatterry.
I really hate it, now I hate this phone
Battery draining mainly depends on how device is used, means how much CPU/GPU are stressed. Has NOTHING to do with Android OS itself: an OS is a piece of software, nothing else, an OS doesn't consume electric power. It are all the running apps/services - either running in foreground or in background, for example Location Providers & Google Play Services - that drain the battery, as also the activated hardware components like the screen, WiFi, GPS, SIM-cards, BlueTooth, etc.pp. even if device is in standby mode. It are the device's power management settings what control the behavior of Android phones that could affect the system's power consumption, such as adjusting lighting, handling the phone's sleep, and the wake-up, idle, turn-off timing, back lighting or display brightness of the device. It are the device implementers who define the related constants suitable to their devces, it's NOT Google , the developers of Android. With regards to Samsung S10 devices it's worldwide known that it has a very poor power management compared to others.
BTW: Since Android 9, the platform can monitor apps for behavior that negatively affects the battery life of devices.
No matter what you do to your device, it will never stop draining the battery.

You have no idea what you are talking about and should stop wasting everyones time talking about that
So I simply reset my phone and I am back to 8h SOT and happy again.
3h42mins with 62% of the battery at like 8h usage
And after about 15h usage at 51% with 4h10mins SOT ?
I also got terrible battery life after the 10 upgrade.
What do you mean by reset? How?

A simple factory reset, type reset in your settings in the search bar and do a factory reset.
It will delete everything, so make a backup before
I recently bought a used vivo x70 pro plus (buy on november 2021) , I followed the various guides here on the forum disabling the vivo.pem and other Chinese services via ADB
But I have a dramatic screen off battery drain of about 4% hours and only 3.5h of SOT
Also through accubattery I saw that the battery capacity is not 4500mah but 3.400mah, a health of 76% ... is this a reliable estimate?
Here are the screens
Have you solved? I have the same problem with my Iqoo 8 pro, i only deactivated vivo.pem, are there other services to deactivate?

I not solverd , my battery life is at 92,5% , check it from command ADB with PC
accubattery pro is good for this phone , show me under 80% of battery life , not work at all
the snapdragon 888+ is very power hungry and often has abnormal consumption with the screen off, with the screen on the consumption is always stable
I deactivated all the Chinese services that I didn't need and other stuff, I forced various apps to run in the background (facebook, instagram, whatsapp, etc.) to have reliable and working notifications, so maybe this too contributes to the higher consumption on the screen off (although as mentioned it varies a lot, sometimes it consumes 3-4% per hour, sometimes 8-9% per hour)
When this happens, I close all apps and it re-establishes itself.

Try Capacity info app, it's more accurate and reliable. My phone has 8.3% battery wear after one year of usage.
