Hey guys,
So the title says it all, I have the phone since February and I recently noticed that it generates a click sound when I shake it as if there is something loose moving inside.
Is it just my phone or there are some of you who noticed the same thing?

I know from other phones (OnePlus, Nokia) that the camera stabilizer might make some noise when shaking or turning the phone around. I'm not even trying this with mine because I don't want to know
It is coming from optical stabilization mechanism from camera. Don't worry about it.
it is needed for stabilize photo shooting...... have sound shoot good no sound picture blur...

The bigger lenses with optical image stabilization .
Thats what making that tik tik sound .
Try turning on the camera on 1x or 3x then try to shake .
And then reply do you hear ?

So basically in layman's term, the camera sensor is placed on a gimbal like thing holding the camera optic, which can move in x-y axis, and as you've already figured it out...it helps in the super smooth stabilization that the s21 ultra has by counter-movement while recording.
And that's the noise it makes when you shake it, pretty normal ! (Also it has a big 108mp sensor it shakes up too)
Although won't recommend you to shake it up real bad. xD
Thanks guys, I was a bit worried. It seems that it is in fact the camera/optical image stabilization module.

I did this, apparently it's coming from the 108MP sensor because when I'm on 1x there is no sound.

I can't comment on the Kaiser's picture quality but when I owned a 8525, I never used the flash. The flash in 8525/Hermes, to me, was a joke. It did not really make any difference unless you were taking macro pictures at night. I'm glad that Tilt does not have it. One less thing to worry about. Just my opinion.
the only real use to the ''flash'' was the awesome flash-light.

agreed - I miss the flashlight.
the TyTN2 camera takes longer from button-push to snapshot than the TyTN - sometimes 2 seconds. Light sensitivity is better, but it's still a phone. Auto-focus seems to help but who can wait all that time?
yes the slow response time is kinda annoying. the pic quality is ok even without the flash, definitely not as good as my P1i sony ericsson.
The camera is better than the TyTN but no flash leads for very jumpy framerates in low light conditions. Nicest thing is the two-press camera button. Half press for focus and full press to take - much more like any other camera-phone. Quality still not up to that of a SE or a small digital camera though...
R
Agreed - camera quality passable but not a patch on my K800i.
slow..

yeah..i agree with the slow response,i was getting ready to call htc,but i see its just not my phone..it really suck waiting for the pic.
The image quality is OK (good for 3MP phone camera).
But the camera operation is very slow, jumpy and blurry when there are lot of movement of the object or when you pan the phone. I hate this.
And yes, the lag is really, really annoying You will not be able to take picture of moving object!
Flip chart text legible after transfer to PC?
Can someone share an image of a "flip chart" with letters or numerals approximately the same height as a man's palm?
I'm trying to decide between the Tilt (3MP, no flash) and the BB Curve (2MP, with flash). Shooting flip charts in typical conference room light with no natural window light is the only camera utilization that I expect. The images will be captured on the device, then transferred to a PC for transcription -- with essentially infinite optical zoom capability available.
Best,
Camera speed with shutter sound disabled?
Does your Tilt/Tytn II camera speed increase with shutter sound disabled? I read that idea on another thread but haven't seen it confirmed here or elsewhere.
seems pretty good to me...

Does anyone else notice a click when the camera has finished focusing?
its normal. my sony ericsson K790a with autofocus clicks after focusing as well.
Def miss the flashlight... but mainly because of using it as a flashlight to look for things
But the refresh late is appauling which is annoying
Having said that, if you are stable and get rid of any shaking, i think the camera is actually really good. I took some scenery pictures in the car while going to Kent and even though we were moving at 70mph or so, they came out without any blurryness or noise on the pictures.
If they get rid of the refresh rate in darker (and I dont mean even dusk type light but just not daylight) areas, the camera will be perfect (for a phone)
I just upgraded from my old nokia 6682 to the kaiser. Here's two shots of roughly the same thing.
Nokia 6682:
Kaiser:
This is low light night conditions. Nokia is a complete joke. Kaiser is infinitely better but still no comparison to ccd cameras.
It's real slow taking pictures. That's for sure. And the only way to get digital camera replacement shots is to be really really still while taking it, which is real hard when it takes multiple seconds to take the picture.
edit: sorry I'll take a different set of pictures tomorrow. Noticed something in the pictures
Hello, I just had my S10+ and I love it. The only thing I notice is a click sound made by the camera module lens when changing from mode to another one in the camera apps. Like the lens adapte, and make kind of a 'click' sound. Is it a normal thing for everyone ? Or may it be broken or anything ?
Thanks so much, and hoping I was clear.
So you're not the first one to bring this up. I'm guessing this is your first Samsung phone with a variable aperture lens? I have this on my Note 9 and I guess I've been around louder environments because I never noticed the sound. I just testing this out on my N9 and I can barely hear the sound but it's there when I switched from video mode to picture mode. All the video and photos I've been shooting on my Note 9 for past 5 months have never been negatively affected by this mechanism. So far, everything seems to be in working order. I suspect it will be the same with the new S10 line.
I hope that gives you some better perspective on this feature.
i just bought my k20 pro and i noticed if i put video recording on 60fps a lot of noise and artifact comes on screen. do I have a defective phone?

It's the same as taking a photo in low light, at 1/60 second. That's too quick and you'll have a noisy photo too. Set the camera app to Pro mode and set the speed to 1/60 and take a single photo, with no gimmicks or AI, etc. and see what it looks like.
this is how it looks like on video. only bottom half has noise. if i put it on ultra wide noise goes.
and if i leave it on when it noisy it freezes and says can't connect to camera
Also noticed the noise is there even in perfect lighting . And after 10 seconds it freezes.

That doesn't look good. Are you on an official ROM? Have you unlocked the bootloader?
Is it just on the display you see that, or does the video it records contain the noise too?
Does it take photos OK?

i just received the phone. it's all official. it's on the videos too. pictures are fine also 30fps videos. anything above 30fps has the noise. I think I'm gonna return it.

Seems like a hardware issue, mine is not showing any noise that you have in any lighting condition.
Also i have some other problem, can you check on your device that :-
I noticed that front camera is making face red while clicking selfie, if i cover my face then camera is showing actual colours, but when it recognizes face in the frame it automatically turns the face red, i also disabled all beauty footers but seems there is something wrong with camera software, because gcam port is not showing red face in front camera, can u confirm if you are are also facing this issue or is this alsp can be a hardware issue

it didn't make my face red. if gcam doesn't do it then it's surely software related. the video issue for me happened in gcam as well.

Then definitely you have a hardware problem. That's Strange, it means my miui camera app is buggy, don't know what to do now [emoji20]

So by complete accident I noticed that whenever I shake my 11 Ultra, a strong rattling sound comes from the top portion of the phone, like there's something loose inside. After a bit of testing I assumed it's the OIS from the wide angle, since whenever that camera is used, and the OIS kicks in, the sound when shaken becomes very small. But anyways, is this normal?
This may sound like a strange request, but please, could you people shake your device and give a feedback here to know if it's just my unit?
It’s normal.
Ah ah by accident too, i noticed the same few days ago.
And when i change camera lens in pro mode, i have a little sound similary as haptic.
That's reassuring, i am not the only one. But why we have this thing ?
It's the camera and OIS. It's normal.

It’s the stabilization module inside the camera shaking. It’s a moving part so it’s basically floating when you’re not using it. When you shake the phone you make it move inside the camera, thus the rattling noise.
And obviously, it’s for stabilizing the camera when you’re moving so you don’t get the blur effect.
Thank you guys for your feedback, good to know that it's normal. Have a nice day everyone!
my oppo x3 pro if shaking up and down the camera make very noise,is normal?
before made no nothing noise, really silent and stable.
can anyone try if they have the same problem, please?

It is normal for camera module in smartphones to rattle a bit.
others have the same problem after the update?
Is has nothing to do with the update. It's probably just the stabilization system.
All the mechanical image stabilization systems I ever used made a tiny amount of noise.
If you can clearly hear more than 3 feet away it may have a problem... or really good hearing
The fact that you can hear it means it's working...

I had this issue while using the camera inside a building, there was shaking from the image stabilization and also the image on the screen was shaking, like blurred. I think this is somehow "normal".
