I've tried many custom roms. Every have some kinda major issues. I'm back to MIUI 12.0.3 . Basically , I want lag free experience in Games like PUBG. I once had lag free experience, I don't remember in which version of stock rom. Because almost every miui version is laggy. Please helpful answers only. Not ****commenting like it's cheap phone.
I've rooted phone , tried grenify , performance tweaker , even removed bloatware.
I want the best gaming experience I used to get in some version of MiUi .
I'm currently on miui 12.0.3 .

This is not a gaming phone , is low-end , I'm sorry to tell you what you don't want but that's right, you won't get better performance with any custom rom or any module , that won't improve weak hardware. MIUI is the best option for this device. Buy a more expensive phone if you want to play games
Try to install a rom as close to stock as possible. Then you can try a couple of performance enhancing magisk modules like nfs injector or magnetar. Test it out for yourself and see which module gives better performance. Feel free to ping me for any help.

Idk about this phone specifically, but miui is known to be very bloated and I think a stock rom would do more good. Also I have personally tested both the magnetar and nfs injector modules and can say they do give a drastic improvement in performance

I've magisk installed. Should I install any of these on miui 12.0.3? Any precautions or it's just simple?
In my opinion you dont need a module like this, ive tested all modules, tweaks, mods and by far the best is to debloat your stock rom a lil bit, freeze some unwanted apps and its ok,you cant do more, believe me.Cheers!!!

I disagree with this
I am running nezukoOS from https://t.me/redmi_9/556
Its the smoothest ROM for this device currently (ive tried all of them)
But, custom roms have a great battery life compared to miui, my SOT was extended by 5 hours (!!!) from just switching software
Its true that most custom roms are slower than miui but i dont see any difference with nezukoOS
the reason why i switched from miui was usability, and privacy
I found miui to be incredibly privacy invasive and it kept killing all of my background apps, which werent issues on custom roms

Either downgrade to miui 11.4 global vendor (has no regional bloatware)
Or "upgrade" to miui 12.0.8 chineese vendor (back up your imei , nvram , nvdata) before doing so
Just remove all of the chinese crap (you dont need adb or root, just lets you remove it manually) and you are good to go
the version from china seems to be more battery friendly, and performs better

The brick bug is there with every ROM that has Stock ICS Kernel.Kernels that have MMC_ECAP_ERASE command removed are safe but for some reason MIUI doesn't support these kernels :silly:

Though it seems you asked for an opinion on which one to use and it does appears that you did your homework and read up on both the main miui roms available at the moment, imo to say that there are to many complaints regarding them is a little unfair as there isn't a rom forum on here that doesn't in some shape or form have an compliant on whats not working or could be improved that's human nature.
As I really can not comment on the VengeanceNote Edition MIUI 2.8.3- v2.4 + Test builds version due the the fact that I'm not a big fan of cm9 but the rom developer (Gerrett) works very hard on improving it for being a test build (as the title suggest) so yes bugs are to be expected as in any rom. I personally do use the TMT-ver 2 and when properly flashed as per instructions it performs very well. Yes it does have a suspected kernel but being a long time miui user I flash mine from a relatively safe kernel , wipe cache, dalvik, format the system, factory reset then flash the rom and reboot, along with formatting my internal sd card and installing from scratch though it takes me a bit (1 hour or so) and everything works fine and it saves me a few headaches along the way, there are the standard things that miui themselves need to fix like the fc's in the About phone Status and in the Mobile Networks when you want to select Network Operators (these have been known issues since my S2 days) and few people have an issues with the theme manager but for me it does what I want it to. I get decent battery life being a semi-light user never less then a day and a half to 2. But it does vary on what I'm doing..
In the end to ask an opinion for what to use you'll get a variety of each individual who answers your post but what might work well for them may not apply to you and your phone so try what you like if it doesn't suit you then move on to another..

Yesterday i managed to Root, Flash v20 Baseband , Flash CM11 & flash these gapps :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942
The problem is that i didnt see any performance boost or stability ..it lags more than stock.
even Antutu score decreased by 50-100. ( Before CM11 Was 4056 , i see also people claim to hit 4500+ on other threads )
Maybe its ram? i dont know because i didnt checked the proccesses before.
There are many apps run in background without even running them and i cant greenify them cause they are stock apps and i ned paid version.
,Google+ , Google Search , Google Services , Settings , DSP Manager etc.
what do you guys do in order to boost the performance? iam sure there are plenty things to do except fake app boosters, ram cleaners etc.

Cm11 still work in progress. Still a long way to go.
Have you change the processor speed, governor, io sched, etc? If not, try to install performance control.
If still not satisfied, downgrade to cm10.1 or cm10.2. They said its much stable but still some little bugs. Or try slimbean 4.0.1, the most stable of all custom rooms but but maintained anymore.
Then you can also try stock simple blue by snx ics but modified by szymel0, got good feedback from users. Or maybe stock v20 rom by szymel0, its also good.
To be honest with you, theres not much we can do on this phone because of the low specs. But still it can still be use as phone as long as you dont expect much.

i understand that due to low specs it may cant run mcny heavy apps but not to be able to navigate fast on menu , settings etc is pissing me off

In my opinion ,that's why i prefer "lighten" roms like CM10 ,AOKP ,pacman ,slimbean (4.1.2 ) ...with a good kernel for more performance => no suck lots of the "rom" memory part and the ram ("rom" not the firmware ,but hardware flash memory)
with my small experience ,I don't think that tweaked rom is good too ..

Which rom for you is best for our Note5? And maybe another of the listed though the rest is rather unprofessional, if I'm wrong correcting me.
I prefer khongloi rom. It is noticeably smoother than the other
The benefit of these two ROMs over the debloated stock ROMs is 'not so useful' features like AOD and some additional UI settings but they come with problems like battery drain, sluggishness, poor connectivity etc....
Still im on stock because i dont find any Rom without bugs. Even a stable build of any aosp will be useful.

Stock ROM is also bad with all bloated apps draining battery like crazy. The best option available as of now is heavily Debloated Stock Nougat ROM like PureX which is ideal for India with strong connectivity, good battery , best performance and stability.

Id like to know what's in it or the changes over stock miui. I appreciate any info, thanks.
Thanks for this build. This rom for me is very solid. Everything works much better than the EU ROMs and with a lot less bloat than global rom, safety net working right out the box even without magisk and most importantly, MULTIROM, which I haven't tried yet to be honest. All in all, I would say this is by fare the best miui 10 rom I have tried.
Definitely, looking forward to the future update!???

Yes. I think you'll probably need to format data which will mean losing your internal data. So backing up your data is always a good practice.
For me, so far, it feels better than miui 10 EU. But that is just my personal experience with this rom.
Settings are not translated to spanish
xposed compatible?!
I've heard good/bad things about both of them. I've used xiaomi.eu on my former RN5pro and was very happy however if the experience is better with revolution OS I would give it a try (regarding battery/performance/bugs etc.)
Thanks guys! Have a great day :highfive:
I am also interested in this topic. I used Xiaomi.eu on my MI MIX3 and now I have to switch to MI9 and I am not sure, whether to use Xiaomi.eu or Revolution OS.
I did not test Xiaomi.EU, but from what I read RevOS is the same with more debloat and better battery life. The negative aspect is you get less frequent updates than with Xiaomi.EU, so it could be that with Xiaomi.EU you get new features and bug fixes more quickly, but then again there are only very few little bugs on RevOS so I think it's not much of a problem tbh.
I'm currently on RevolutionOS with Magisk and PocoLauncher and I'm really happy with it, but of course when the first stable AOSP based Roms with working camera will come out, I'll switch to that very quick haha

Great! Honestly I've never updated my phone anyway (since I've debloatet/modded it completely and didn't want to do the hustle again). If it offers the same/more features like xiaomi.eu + no frequent updates (since never thouch a running system) I think I'm giving it a go (after the 15 days wait period

In my opinion RevolutionOS battery life is better than EU . Idle time last night using RevolutionOS was about 3% in 8 hours while with EU rom was 10-13%.
RevOs for sure. I have tried Flokorom (GSI), Xiaomi.eu, and RevOs and I keep coming back to Rev. I get the best battery life by far with it, especially stand by time.

Actually, yes. I forgot to mention these results are with the XASP Patch. I am not sure how much that patch contributes to battery, but the combination of RevOs and the XASP are the best things to flash on the Mi 9 right now. I used GSI roms and will I like the minimal OS it just felt a big buggy and not able to fully utilize the hardware yet. Don't use any extra mods/apps like L speed mod or Greenify, I havent found them to be useful (on MIUI at least) and can got better battery without.

I use xiaomi.eu because it updates more often(weekly). I always remove any additional app I don't use from system when those are not impact to my daily use.
Haven't tried ros of mi9, but was using ros in the past. Don't feel that different to eu

Battery life on ROS wasn't much better on other Xiaomi phones in my experience. But on my Mi 9 I had far better standby time on ROS compared to Xiaomi.eu and Global EEA.
Now on another thread I just saw this rom called "mi-globe" : https://mi-globe.com/rom-builder/
You can basically pre-customize things like if magisk is preinstalled etc before downloading the rom. How is that one compared to RevOS and Xiaomi.eu ?
But from what I saw it's not much different, and I still think battery life will be better on RevOS.
One more question (since so many of them exist already): which type of TWRP did you use for flashing Revolution OS? Thanks!

I think the fiirst time I flashed it, it was with an old version of randomblame's one. But now I saw in the thread that there are problems flashing with the new one.
On the chinese TWRP it doesn't work for me.
Second time I flashed it with an older version of mauronofrio's TWRP (3.3.1-4 because there was a bug with the new version too), but now the bug is fixed on his version and siankatabg's version.
So I recommend you to use the latest versions of either mauronofrio or siankatabg's twrp, since they both support decryption now too. :good:
On the latest update of revolution os, I noticed my battery and network speed icon is white and can't be seen properly as compared to time and network bar which is showing with black color. How do I solve this?
Dead topic?
Any noticed issue with fingerprint unlock?
