What is "Santoni"?

Hi!
I have a Redmi 4x and want to run a custom ROM on it. Looking at different roms most of them are "santonin" roms..
What is that and how do I know if I can use them?

Santoni is our device codename, if you bought a Redmi 4X it is already santoni, not if you bought the prime version

I have a 4x global version. Is that a Santoni device?

Yep. Be aware if you bought your phone still in Marshmallow, you will need to upgrade to MIUI Nougat, or update your firmware separately before you use any custom ROM

I bought it as a marshmallow device but have installed OTA update to Nougat..

So everything's fine !
Just have to unlock bootloader, flash a good twrp, and yes you can... install other custom roms on Santoni Redmi 4X !

Is redmi 4 indian version same as 4x?

Your device should be running on naugat or higher version to flash custom rom, or else it can be bricked during flashing.

Yes you can, just assure that it is running on naugat or higher android version.

Is there a custom rom for the redmi note 9(merlin)

I am searching for custom rom for the redmi note 9(merlin).
There are already some custom roms for the redmi note 9 pro/s but not for the redmi note 9.

Not yet, maybe we should wait till Mi release merlin kernel source

I suggest you to keep on stock rom firmware only.
Root it with magisk. Flash it with twrp.
And everything is fine.

Miui 12 Galahad_eea

So I have a redmi 9 and I'm on miui11.
I checked and I have a Galahad_eea device
There seems to be no sign of OTA for miui 12.
My questions are
Is there an OTA download available for Galahad_eea to get me up to miui 12?
If not, is there another way?
If not, can I use firmware for Lancelot on this phone?

I think Xiaomi may be tracking me.
5 minutes after posting this, I got a miui 12 OTA notification

The phones don't seem to think so.
I had previously tried to update my galahad_eea with OTA Lancelot and it was having none of it

Can somebody make a proper guide on how to insta gsi on Camellia because the existing guide in this device forum is not working in redmi note 10t.

The metod for flash gsi is the same for all devices. If phone dont boot you have flashed a wrong gsi. Look at project tre le on xda of u want more info

Code name are:
olive/ 8​olivelitec /8a​olivewood/ 8 dual​For stock roms you can only flash those that match the code name.
For the AOSP some include the 3 models.

yeah its suicidal to install an 8A rom on an 8, but if it were an SDM|MI439 it is possible
for the latest updates for our phones, id humbly suggest joining telegram in case of missteps
