then popup for update i went to website and download full rom 6.1.14
then i renamed that downloaded file to update.zip and paste in the main sdcard folder
then i have already installed TWRP Recovery i went there and apply that update.zip
then twrp applied that zip and then i clicked reboot after applying it sucessfully.
then it stuck on MI Logo for 4 hours and then the same i tried everything nothing is working only i am able to enter fastboot mode.
i even tried Stable and DEV build both via MI PC Suite but it stuck at 50% saying " sending pmic.mbn "
Now from 3 days i dont have phone Really frustated even i applied with both accounts [email protected] and [email protected] none of them is approved yet for unlocking Bootloader.

We are in the same boat mate..
Standing to lose all the data on my fone..
Thanks to xiaomi..
We are aware of this issue and we are working on a fix. My personal opinion this "locked bootloader" is useless.. If someone doesnt want to play around with it they will just leave it. Anyway... The should be an update of Mi Suite soon that will fix this problem, thank god that I didnt update lol

Well most beta testers used Xiaomi's reccovery which worked fine with the update so they did not end up in a bootloop but for users like us using TWRP it was otherwise. Try doing a request again maybe? Write bit more details etc. I do apologise for the inconvenience of this update being released, I'm happy i never updated myself as I do use my phone a lot for business purposes which is very vital.
I'm using this, is it the older version? working well.
xiaomi.eu_multi_leo_V7.1.4.0.LXHCNCK_v7-5.1.zip
No updates showing in updater. I s everyone saying they now have no phone?
I need phone for work why am I having no issues.
I see no way back as the update disables fastboot. Luck and only luck stopped me applying the update.
Posted another req for unlock..keeping my fingers crossed..
So whats the best course of action? thinking return to stable, lock bootloader and sell. Anyone got a better idea?

Exactly what @arkabose said. You can also disable automatic download.
So this looks like the only option for the lucky ones who haven't locked their bootloader.

1. Due to large amounts of requests, please wait for 10-12 days after submitting your application. If you haven't get any info after 10-12 days, please make a thread on en.miui with your Xiaomi account number, we will check it for you. Thanks for understanding
2. The unlocking procedure only supports MIUI China developer version (6.1.12 or later version) currently. MIUI China stable version will get supported in future updates
3. Some Mi Note Pro users could not unlock bootloader after updating to 6.1.12. This issue will be solved in the next update
Hi all,
Just got a Xiaomi mi5... Was about 3 hours ago.
But I am already considering selling it back !
Why ?
Many reasons, but here the ones :
- it's so slippery that, even if it's put on a really flat table, the simple weight of the USB charging cable is enough to tear it and make it fall from the table ;
- it came with the CN ROM, and installing Google Play Store has been a nightmare...
- the unlocking procedure can take up to 10 days ! Which I can't understand especially now that kernel sources are officially released !
BUT the main reason is... My device is locked, with stock ROM. I don ot like the MIUI launcher so wanted to install my own.
Downloaded it. Installed it. Launched it. Set it as the default launcher. Gave it all permissions (+ autostart).
Despite al this, hitting the "Home" button keeps launching the MIUI launcher.
I think it's been a long time singe I ran into so much trouble just wanting to use a legitimately bought phone !!!
Any ideas on how to change the launcher for good ?
Help would be appreciated...
Regards.

Hi guys,
OK... Replying to myself !
It turns out that, to be able to choose another launcher than the default Miui launcher, I have to turn off "Enable Miui optimizations" in the developer options.
Just in case you're wondering, to turn on Developer options, you have to go to "Settings =>About phone" and then press 7 or 8 times repeatedly "MIUI Version".
Once enabled, developer options can be found under "Settings =>Additional settings".
Scroll down to the bottom of that page and you'll find "Turn on MIUI optimization" => untick the box that appears on that line.
Problem solved... so that is one !
Now let's try to find out why my Mi PC Suite doesn't detect my device !
Regards.
You do not need to stuck with China MIUI, you can flash Global MIUI which comes with Playstore.
You can either flash MIUI Global rom via Updater app or unlock the bootloader follow by fastboot to MIUI Global rom.

Hi Wang,
Of course, I know I can do that
And believe e, I can't wait to install another ROM than MIUI.
If I'd wanted to stick with MIUI, I'd go for the original instead of this pale copy, and would get my an iPhone
But I have requested an unlock code on the Xiaomi Unlock website and I am waiting for their answer.
In the meantime, I would like to use my device... and thus the need for the launcher
But I really fear that I am going to face a real problem : and that is to have my device be detected by my computer.
I download the MIUI PC Suite and installed it on Windows 10.
If I launch the app and hook up my device to my computer, and turn on MTP it does not see it.
Hope the unlocking app will detect it... or I'm stuck with stock which sucks (yeah, I'm kind of a poet !).
Regards.

MiPc doesn't work with Marshmallow, so it dosn't work with the Mi5.
But many people are experiencing other problems when trying to unlock, even though they have their permission.
But don't worry about it now

Hi Ethested,
Hum... that will be some sort of problem won't it ?
I've read that to unlock your device, you need to install Miui Dev version...
How will I be able to do that if I can't connect with Mi PC Suite ?
I've tried to flash from the updater, but all I got is a "Can't verify file" message... and thus can't install anything
I must say that I have never ran into so much trouble with a smartphone in the last 3 years.
And it is really diminishing the fun to have it...
Honestly : I have got the phone less than 24 hours ago and I am already considering reselling it

for unlock of bootloader u can either have china stable, china dev and global stable. so since urs is china MIUI shouldn't have a problem with unlocking.
I was facing the same updater app could not verify recovery rom problem, and my solution was to unlock the bootloader and follow by flashing the fastboot rom.
currently im running MIUI 8 Global dev. waiting for developer to port stable AOSP to mi 5 since Xiaomi just released kernel source few days ago.

The Kernel got released yesterday or 1 day before yesterday, which means serious native development has just begun and the Mi5s future and all of the problems will be saved
Hi Ethested,
OK. I know that. And that is of course excellent news.
But of course to be able to install a custom ROM I will first need to unlock my bootloader.
And to unlock the bootloader I need, according to almost all websites i've read :
- 1°) an unlock Code that is manually given by Xiaomi !!!! And it can last up to 3 weeks to get it... If you're lucky, it will be only 2 days...
- 2°) a Dev ROM installed, and not the Chinese Stock ROM.
I am waiting for 1°) and have little hope to get it before the end of next week, but that is pure speculation from my side...
Meanwhile, I would like to install the Global Dev ROM that has the integrated GApps and supports more languages than English and Chinese.
There are several methods to do it...
None of them works !
So when I get my unlock code, if I am unable to to use it because I can't install that Global Dev ROM, what do I do ?
Of course, if someone would be kind enough to answer TWO SIMPLE QUESTIONS, I'D BE GRATEFUL !!!
And that question would be :
"Do I need an unlocked bootloader to install a Global Dev Rom when my device is running Miui 8.0.10 ?"
" Will I be able to unlock my bootloader even if my phone has the Chinese Stock ROM that is not a Dev ROM ?"
So if anyone can light my candle... please share

I'm with MIUI 8 Global and MiPC Suite doesn't work on Win 10 for me also. It says "Your phone should be update..." or something.
@NexusPenguin,
You don't need Mi PC suite to flash MUI ROM, can you access internal storage from you computer ? Then put the ROM Zip into the Downloaded_rom folder and run update from you phone

Hi lapocompris,
It seems indeed you did not understand my question...
I know I can do that. But I think I mentioned in a post above that doing this only results in the message "Cannot verify file"... and so I can't update that way.
But it's over now... I got my unlock code, so unlocked the bootloader and got rid of that horrible MIUI interface ! At least, I find it horrible, but as it's quite popular, I think I am about the only one to not like it

I seriously hate miui as well. I find the font on the status bar very small and inconvenient to read. The notification drawer is very bad and handling notifications requires a lot of hassle. It seems to be the case that most of the chinese manufacturers are going the iOS like UI and interface which I, as a long time android user, effing hate! They take out the app drawer, they throw all apps on home screens without proper optimization for organizing them. There is some unnecessary bloatware as well like antivirus crap and memory cleaners.
I found the dev rom to be much more stable than the global stable rom which is funny.
I flashed cm13 which has been working great with very minor bugs and great battery life.
The biggest problem I have right now is not being able to install enterprise apps because the phone has custom recovery and rooted.
To be honest it's my fault that I didn't do my research about the interfaces implemented on top of android by chinese manufacturers . I assumed since this is android then I won't see much BS but damn!
I thought about getting a one plus 3 but their subreddit has pointed out a **** ton of problems which I can not live with plus 5.5" screen vs 5.2" makes a huge difference.
Just to provide some current info, I was in the same position of the op with a modified China rom. Requested unlock code and got a reply in about 30 mins. Unlocked the bootloader easily (make sure u sign in to same mi account on ur pc as the one on your phone.) Next step was flashing a FASTBOOT rom file. This was a problem as installing the required qualcomm drivers in Windows 10 using the faqs on the forums was not successful. Turns out there is a new windows installation package that is signed so windows recognises and uses it. Wasted a lot of time before I found this but actual flashing of global dev rom took like 2-3 mins after thay
---------- Post added at 03:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:07 PM ----------
Waiting till they incorporate support for capacitive home button before I switch to cm13
Hi Gents,
ok so we all know by now that waiting 7 days unlocks the OEM option for the N8 950F, i want to root, my concern is that i have been reading and see that results are mixed, i have seen that flashing a custom FW has soft bricked some phones and you will have to flash back to official FW and wait yet again for 7 days for OEM to show up in dev options....
what i want to know is whats the sure fire way to get it to work (ROOTand CFW) because i dont wanna end up losing the OEM option and then have to restore OFW?
please let me know your thoughts and what you did to have a successful first time flash, my note model is N950F/DS.

That's cause no one knows exactly why it disappears yet or has a valid fix for it. So far it seems like people are having luck with krabman's method.

In the past, people mainly rooted for speed tweaks & themeing but those aren't the only reason for root. Speed tweaks & themeing were never the main reasons why I rooted.
Like many I spent time in jail waiting for my OEM unlock. How I spent that time was trying to work around not having root and it was a miserable failure. When talking about the need for root I think it's best that the conversation first be understood to be subjective. A person that doesn't do anything that requires root will feel that it is unnecessary, those that do will consider it vital as a means to get where they're going.
There are many, many, people who said "you don't need to do that" in regards to getting root on these devices who went down in flames. No timer on OEM unlock and not a big deal, you try again until you get it right. We get one try and getting it wrong means you have reset your timer and you're waiting a week. Wait that week and you get one try, failure means another week. A person can repeat that cycle as many times as they want, I'd suggest going all in the first time because no one knows exactly which steps are not needed yet although we have ruled a few out. One thing that is apparent is once you have the first rom install in the rest can be done following normal rom installation procedure so long as they're clean flashes. I haven't tried any dirty flashes but for the same rom I'm thinking it will work, of course when the time comes I might be proven wrong. I'm hoping someone else will get there first and I can take advantage of their experience.
That being said in general the process begins by flashing TWRP in odin. You must leave odin and go directly to TWRP, failure to stop the boot at recovery means a certain binaries error and a week wait. Once you are in recovery you must stay there until you have finished installing a rom that has been de-knoxed. Pay attention to holding the buttons on the phone while you start the TWRP flash as described in the TWRP thread. If you untick reboot in odin then the only way out is to hold volume down/ power which will tell the phone to reboot into system. You must then quickly switch to volume up/bix/power during a small window in order to get the phone to go to recovery. If you miss it nothing can stop the phone from continuing to boot and you have just got a week wait before your next try. If you don't untick restart you can try the same thing when odin automatically reboots the phone after the flash. If you miss it you will get the binaries error and be waiting a week. People have missed it both ways. There is a reason that the TWRP instructions specifically state to prepare odin, hold the vol up/bix/power buttons and continue holding them while you press the button in odin and keep right on holding those buttons all the way through until the phone boots into TWRP. This makes it a sure thing, the other way you may or may not succeed. Lastly we've proven you don't need to remove your SIMs on subsequent rom installs but it remains a question with the first install as there are conflicting reports. If it were me I'd pull them and not put them back until I was fully up and running on the other side. You will need to pull at least Sim 2 in order to put in the micro SD with your rom, verity, and root firmware for use in TWRP no matter what. Feeling frisky and you want to leave Sim 1 in then please report your results in the OEM unlock thread.
So... To install a rom you will begin by following the TWRP instructions to the letter including the format all the way through the process until the end. Some will say you don't need to flash the no-verity, ordinarily I'd agree with them as it is flashed as a part of both the SU and magisk flash but in this case we know that following those instructions in exacting detail works as a first step but not doing so has been a failure for many. Because few have followed the same steps plus or minus a detail from the known working method we don't know exactly which things are unneeded so if it's me I would just follow the known working method. As always those wanting to advance our knowledge by trying something else should report their results in the OEM unlock thread. When you reach the end of the TWRP installation instructions you will remain in recovery and flash your rom and then factory reset. Then flash either magisk or SU again depending on which rom and which root method you're using. Once root has been reflashed you can go ahead and boot to system. Finish the setup before you put the sims back in the phone.
There is a longer throw the kitchen sink method in the OEM unlock thread for those that wish to search, that is what I would do if I wanted absolutely no risk as it seems to work without fail. I've done what I describe here a good ten or more times now as I was the first reported rom install here using the first method and I've been flashing away since then and dropping some of those original steps as I went. I'm thinking it should work for others too but I cant prove it until someone does it. It may be you need the kitchen sink for the first flash, I simply cant say because I would have to go stock to try and I'm not harboring much of a hankering to do that. This being XDA and we being adults please understand that I'm sharing the information based on actual practice on my own phone but there is no guarantee. You make your choices and what happens, happens.
Hello all,
To begin with - yes, I'm an idiot. I'm in the UK and my week-old Mi 11 Ultra is on the CN ROM. Had multiple Chinese phones with Google Play loaded and never had a problem, but the Mi 11 Ultra just won't sync my contacts. I've found advice on here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...o-sync-google-contacts-in-miui-12-cn.4276659/) but it seems to be a couple of months out-of-date as I don't have those apps and can't download them. The Contacts app (the Google one) says there are no contacts in my account (I do) and in the Accounts & Sync area in Settings my 'People details' apparently synced two days ago - but they absolutely haven't.
I'm also having plenty of problems with notifications which is really getting on my nerves.
From reading this forum I suspect the answer you're all going to give me is to flash to the Global ROM, but I've never flashed a phone so I'm pretty nervous about doing that.... Is there possible another workaround?
Thanks all (for both help and tolerance of an idiot).
(another idiot) I was also on the CN ROM with Google services installed and couldn't get any Google related back-up to work in general. Photos app was not uploading anything, phone wouldn't back-up. I was expecting a few quirks and was ready to work around these issues, but the notifications were the real killer. Seems like most apps get killed in the background and will not sync, even with all battery saver settings removed, all permissions activated, and apps locked permanently in the task manager. In particular from my experience Gmail and WhatsApp were problematic. Even WhatsApp calls would not come through if I did not have the app open.
As you suspected your best options are probably either to go with an official global ROM or go with the (unofficial) Xiaomi.eu ROM. Personally I went with the latter because it promises a fully functional phone without major drawbacks, but opinions are quite mixed on it - there are several discussions in other threads sharing different experiences and pros/cons. I've had one or two minor visual bugs but nothing major. I didn't try the official global ROM yet, but it will most likely be the most stable and best performing option - just expect some extra hoops to enable banking/security/ID apps.
If you find any workaround to get these things working on the CN ROM I would love to hear them, everything was super smooth and I was happy to stick to it if only notifications were reliable.
Just simply flash global rom, fixed all problem in CN
Don't know how people (outside CN) can live with CN rom
The problem is when you've never done it before! I'm worried about ending up with a £700 brick. I've seen a guide but I am completely new to doing this so it's pretty scary.
Thanks Braptrus - it's nice to hear from someone else who isn't exactly an expert on all this. Don't suppose you could point me towards the guide you followed to flash the ROM, could you? From the few things I've read I think I'll go for Global over EU for now as it seems an easier/safer starting point.
I followed the instructions on the Xiaomi.eu forum and a couple of YouTube videos from "topfone4u" (he has demos for .eu and global ROMs). I think if you follow one of the videos and go step by step and really follow carefully it's quite straightforward, but on the other hand it's very possible to brick your phone if you make a mistake so need be careful and make sure you understand what you are doing. Otherwise if you are not confident I'm not sure if you can find a local phone shop who can do it for you?

You say that, but I can't even get my laptop/Mi PC Suite to detect the phone being connected yet!

Connect phone to pc, if just need to copy file, change the MTP mode on phone, default is just charging (no storage detected)
I've done that. The laptop can see it but Mi PC Suite just tells me to connect by USB. I can explore the phone in Explorer but Mi PC Suite doesn't see it at all. It knows something is going on - when I change to File Transfer the 'Connect your device via USB' message pops up in Mi PC Suite.

Trying to work backwards. I couldn't get Mi Unlock to see my phone and read that ADB drivers might need updating and that Mi PC Suite was the way to get that done. The newest version wouldn't work, but an old one did and eventually I got them updated. With some more fiddling, I've now managed to request to unlock!
So now I will be able to flash the ROM a few hours before I go on holiday next week, which I suspect will be a terrible idea.

https://mipcsuite.com/ - the newest version still won't recognise it, but v3.0 did. I couldn't get the account screen to go away, but it did updates in the background - it was all in Chinese but I saw 'ADB' in that a couple of times. I did that a few times and eventually Mi Unlock recognised the phone.

U didnt need that shiet program at all.
follow the official guide to flash fastboot rom https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/mi-11-ultra-cn-notifications.4334413/post-85652965
Thanks for the advice all - I managed to get it done a couple of weeks ago. The 168 hours bootloader unlocking failed several times and things went slightly differently to the instructions but I got there eventually. The topfone4u videos as suggested by @Braptrus were brilliant.
And yes, it was pretty easy in the end!
Hi guys,
I've been a part of this community a long time now and again have a need for your help. Fortunately these forums have saved me from some bad situations and I thank you for your kind help.
So I have recently bought a mi 11 ultra that I am told is on global Rom, it has unlocked bootloader and is everything I always wanted it to be apart from a few problems.
The 5ghz WiFi does not work "most" of the time.
The updater does not update but does show me there are updates available.
I'm.unabke to sign out of the Xiaomi cloud on the phone and it's now trying to auto renew at some cost something I don't want.
The camera has some quirks as well and I'm sure that some or all of these are Rom specific.
I'm just really looking to get it all working it also needs resetting I think.
My phone is on 13.0.5.0
The updater says that the update is 13.0.9.0 the website says that weekly 13.0.1.11 is available.
Never having had a Xiaomi phone before I am unable to figure out what is the sensible Rom to put it on when I wipe it. I also only really know how to work a Samsung a Huawei but can't really find a guide with any of the ROMs I listed above in it.
Can anyone help me?
Thanksbrett
U should tell more details on 5g wifi problem
U MUST ask the seller about that mi account to sign out of it first, it like apple Cloud account
Your phone is now with xiaomi.eu rom, the best custom rom for 11U now, it base on official miui CN version with some mods for global users
Because of miui 13 is A12, and no custom recovery works with A12 so the only way to upgrade / flash rom is using Fastboot rom file with xiaomi flash tool
And rom always has 2 branch, stable and dev weekly beta. I think u already know what it jeans. So your phone is now with stable brand, u can find download link at xiaomi.eu

What details do you want?
it does not work most of the time that's all I can tell you?! I.e. sometimes it finds the 5ghz WiFi channel on my virgin hub 4 most of the time I can only use 2.4ghz which allows my internet speed down. I have 1130mb fibre with WiFi booster pods all over the house.
The mi cloud account is mine. How would the seller know anything about my account? It's not his account signed in it was a clean device when I received it it worked well until I tried to sign out. I could screen record it and.post if it helped. The account is attached to me, it's sending me the emails about renewal because it's only using the free space to back up and I have more on the phone then 5gb so it wants to upgrade the cloud storage which I don't want to do. and from what I read the only way to stop it renewing is to sign out. Which is why I wanted to do so.
I am supposed to be on best or most stable and its not stable and has faults that's kind of my point to why I want to try and upgrade it, it has faults so I want to wipe it clean and upgrade to the new weekly and see if i get a better result, if not I can always go back to the other version.
Would I be better off going back to miui 12.x.x?
Yeah bloody apple are a nightmare I have played that game before hahaha.
I don't mind totally custom ROM I just not sure how it's done on a Xiaomi.
So I need the xiaomi.eu Rom the Xiaomi flashtool which I'm guessing is similar to the one I use for Samsung?
Yeah I got that there 2 runs bit like the old nightlys on the aosp?
I just want to try and make some of the thinks that annoy me go away. As I said I can always go back I'm sure.

Weird, if this is your acc, why u cant sign out
Xiaomi.eu is called custom rom but it doesn't really like "custom" it just base on CN rom with some mods to make it "global" (original CN rom didn't have google services but u can easily install it)
In your case, u should download fastboot rom of xiaomi.eu lastest stable (u can find link in xiaomi.eu forum)
And read the instruction of how to flash fastboot rom and do it. Just remember to choose to "clean all" your phone will be flashed from beginning

Yeah it's really frustrating I press sign out the screen flashes as if it were going to ask me for the password then just stays on the screen it's on. I hope it's not going to hinder me when I update lol.
I Appreciate your time my friend.

Ah forgot about xiaomi.eu Rom. They already make it to a automatic script, so after downloading the rom, u only need to run the exact .bat file that u want (in your case is windows_fastboot_first_install_with_data_format.bat)
