Hi,
Do exactly as described:
Download Settings Database Editor from playstore and open it
Look for hw_networkmode_preference and edit the stock value "9,6,2,1" to "11"
Restart the device
Open Settings Database Editor
Click on + Add new setting at the top
Type "hw_add_4g_only" (without " ") and press save changes
Type in your country code, example "502" Malaysia or "262" Germany. Press save changes
Type "hw_add_4g_only" (without " ") and press save changes (YES, REPEAT STEP 6)
Type in your country code, example "502" Malaysia or "262" for Germany and press save changes (YES, REPEAT STEP 7)
Restart the device and VOILA!
Now you have access to ALL network modes. Select "LTE" or "4G" for 4G only functionality.
Ex.: 234 (Three UK code)

I tried but it didn't work. Did yours work. Can you send a picture of your network modes after it worked

not registered on network

Hi
I have recently updated the firmware on my n7000 from 2.3.6 to 4.0.4 and ever since I have not been able to make calls or go on internet
Network - unknown
Service state - Out of service
Mobile network state - Disconnected
Next to my battery icon top right of my phone I do have 4 signal bars which change from time to time displaying 2 or 3 or 4
the MD5's I have tried using ODIN are
N7000XXLRI_N7000OXXLP8_N7000XXLRB_HOME.tar.md5
N7000XXLRG_N7000DBTLRG_N7000XXLRB_HOME.tar.md5
Vodafone have confirmed it is NOT blocked by IMEI
What can I do to determine if it is infact blocked by EMEI
Thanks
EFC
you can check your emei, in your phone, settings, about phone, then status. Is it the same as when you bought phone?
you can check your apn settings, are they as provider prescribes?
When reboot does your phone ask for sim pin?

No sim pin
How do I check emei and apn??, is it a classic sign of emei block when not registered on network??
nope if phone doesnt ask you to authenticate sim pin, then it wont register on network.
Fix is easy, try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25953317
Added how to check emei, dial *#06#, is another way. If its original, see behind battery then thats not issue.
Apn, I'll go into that after you tried Lance Uppercuts method and rebooted
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
I found the apn settings and enabled use packet data, data roaming, clicked on access point names and ha 1 listed which is 3 so i selected that
network mode is set to gsm\wcdma auto mode
network operators.........searching........for ages!! then i get
3
3
vodafone uk
02 - uk
t-mobile uk
clicking on either of the 3 networks says........unable to connect try again later
switch data roaming off, youbmight get extra costs. Apnbsettings should match your providers.
If lances method didnt work after reboot, see post above, delete apn, reboot, register on your mobile network, check apn with providers, or have provider resend it. Some times you can do this yourself from providers website

i have to be rooted to follow this, wat is quickest method i dont have a sd card installed
- Download "Terminal Emulator" app from market
- open it
- type into the command:
su
echo -n ON > /efs/imei/keystr
sync
Go to home, force close your terminal app, shut your screen off, and when your turn it back on your lock screen should be there.
Obviously you must be rooted the "su" command.
can someone pliz elaborate on typing su into the command
i have /$ when i type su it shows
/$su
The selected command does not exist
just download the one with busybox and try to install it from stock recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1841288
use update zip option and save it on internal sd Should be pickable.
Remember your on unsafe kernel, dont wipe factory reset at all.
Getting into recovery is tricky: switch off phone, immediately
volume up, home button and power button at the same time keep pressed and after reboot its in recovery mode. Navigate with volume buttons and confirm selection with power button

Downloaded it and installed as you said
The program Terminal Deluxe tells me that it has been granted super user permission when I start it
But it still says...
/$su
The Selected command does not exist
I am simply typing the first line "su" straight after the "/$"
Is this correct?
Just to add more info
I put a Vodafone SIM into this phone and it got an E data connection but no calls
Whereas when I put my 3 SIM card in I get no data or calls
Does this give any clues????
press 'enter' on your Note's keyboard... Everytime you type something on the Terminal Emulator app, you have to press enter after.. (just like what you would normally do on Windows Command prompt (DOS) mode option.

I dont have an ENTER key on my note keyboard, I do have a DONE button which is what I am pressing
if pressing DONE accomplishes the same process of executing the command 'SU' then that's all good still.
So where you able to execute the other command after 'su'?

What is your problem @Arne_B ?
If you're having problems with some apps or settings of the latest version, its enough when you downgrade to the earlyest one and do the factory reset.
The phone will reset everything from the latest version.
After that, you can upgrade again to the latest having a clean install, the phone will overwrite the files from the earlier version.

HTC M8 Sprint - Unlock GSM - WCDMA - HDSPA bands (HELP)

Hello to everyone, Im posting here because I cannot make a question to the post related to what I need (http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...ad-progress-please-leave-im-updating-t2871269), sa basically, I need to unlock the GSM 1900 band to use it in Chile (Entel company).
What do I need? Im still having some problems about understanding the adb terminal. Can someone help me with this please?
These are the steps to unlock the bands **My doubts are in red-bold and enumerate**
"Download this zip Google it as it's banned from xda for the ability of imei change
2. Extract it and install QPST from that zip
3. Open the caller app and type in *#*#8778#*#* (it should go off the screen after you type in the last symbol "*"
3.5 Those on custom roms (tested on cyanogen 11 with s4 mini) can use the efs professional toolkit to change the mode to enable the diag port.(Thanks @blackburn !)
4. Connect your phone to your PC ( 1)HERE, in which mode do I have to connect my phone to the computer?)
5. Open ADB console ( 2) From the folder of the adb program, right? pressing SHIFT + RIGHT CLICK?)
6. Type in these commands: ( 3) Can I type these commands from my phone? from the Terminal Emulator for example? Like in the step 34 of this guide???)
Code:
adb shell
su
setprop persist.usb.eng 1
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
7. Turn off USB Debugging, Disconnect your phone from the PC
8. Wait about 10 seconds (don't have to be exact, just let it all disconnect in the PC) and turn USB Debugging back on
10. Connect it back to the PC. It should try to install drivers. Wait until it fails to install all of them.
11. Open device manager - you will see your device model a few times. Go to details tab. Scroll down a single time on that tab. You will see MI_0x there.
12. Go through those devices until you find MI_04 under the second drop down position. ( 4)For what does this MI_04 stands for?)
13. Select "update driver" for this device and install the htc driver from the zip.
14. Press start button and navigate to QPST -> QPST Configuration
15. Go back to device manager -> modems -> HTC
16. Find "COM*" in my case it was "COM3". It might be different for you.
17. In QPST Configuration click on "Add new port" and in "Port" type in your "COM*". In my case It's "COM3" in there. In Port label it could be anyting u want. In my case I used a Z1 so I typed IN "Z1".
18. It should look like this now.
19. Navigate to QPST/bin and open RV_NV_Manager.exe
20. press on settings -> Comport and choose your COM port.
21. Press on file -> read from phone
22. Wait patiently until it is finished. Now pay attention!
23. Go to line 1877, click it and copy the decimal number on the right side of a programme. right click - copy
24. Go to the place where you extracted the zip from the first step and start mzTool
25. On the left side you will see "Input radix" - press decimal there. ( 5) For example, if the hole number is "153546.256", the decimal should be "256", right?
26. On the right side you will see "RF BC CONFIG" paste your previously copied number from the RV_NV_Manager.exe there.
27. You will see now what bands are you able to use on the bottom of the app in "Bit information"
28. Switch tab to "Band Preference (NV Value)"
29. In there select all GSM bands and WCDMA bands. This place is really a field of testing. In my case (C6903 LTE) I selected all of GSM and WCDMA. I wouldn't suggest you to do anyting else in here unless you know what your'e doing. Let me know if you got something interesting in there.
30. After you're done choosing what bands do you want - copy decimal number from the bottom right ( 6) Here I really need and example or a major explanation, in macro detail :c)
31. Remove all commas from that number ( "," ) so it would be just a bunch of numbers without anything else. ( 7) A bunch of number like this 524356??
32. Open RV_NV_Manager.exe from the point you left it (step 23) and paste your new number without commas "," there.
33. Press on write NV and then press on file ->write changed NV to the phone.
34. Open up the terminal emulator on your phone and write there this: ( 8) This is what I was refering to! Why it can be done directly from the phone? Can I do the step 6 from the Terminal Emulator of the phone too??)
Code:
su
setprop persist.usb.eng 0
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
35. Reboot the device and hope you'll have the reception. If you do, hooray!
36. Type in *#*#SERVICE#*#* (*#*#7378423#*#*) to see your new bands that your phone can use! "
Please help me! I have a basic, baaasic knowledge about this, and there are no videos for the Sprint m8 version :c
If Im posting in a wrong category, my apologies, but I cant comment in the real guide-post to get assitance :c
Thanks in advance.
- Conchetumare celular culiao :crying: -
.
Anyone? Just that simple? come on :c!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So many thanks ah...

Sympathic way to upgrade to Nougat By schluk & cvkef

https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/sympathic-to-upgrade-to-nougat-t3510275
In short, the process tricks the updater that your phone imei is eligible for a Nougat OTA update.
Just edit the necessary url address and paths.
Tested and works in my P9 lite fully stock.
All credit goes to schluk & cvkef. Do not thank me.

I was able to repeat the process with the help of Charles app.
You do not have to manually download the update packages. The update packages will be downloaded automatically.
Info
The guide should applies to any variant and any update version (as long as region available). Just be sure to use the correct values where required.
Your PC / Mac and the smartphone must use the same WiFi network
Your smartphone's IP address can be found at Settings > About phone > Status > IP address (It should be something like 192.168.XXX.XXX)
I do not own Windows, but there is a possibility that you have to allow Charles app to listen for network traffic from Firewall settings. Maybe try to disable it while you are going through the guide.
Setup Charles app
Download and install Charles app (30-day trial)
Open Charles app
Select the "Sequence" option
[*] At the bottom, in the "Filter" enter the IP (check info at the top of the post to locate your smartphone's IP address) of your device (this will help you to isolate requests only from your P9 lite)
At the top bar, hit the "Start recording", "Start throttling", "Enable breakpoints"
From the menu "Tools", select the "Rewrite" and check the "Enable Rewrite"
Setup P9 Lite
At Settings > WiFi, locate your WiFi network, long tap it and choose "Modify network"
Display the advanced settings and for Proxy check the Manual option
For Proxy hostname enter the IP of your PC / Mac
For Proxy port enter 8888 (this is the default port for Charles app)
Apply network changes
Test the connection
From P9 lite go to Settings > Update and hit the button to search for updates.
If everything is setup correctly, back in Charles app you'll see the desired requests. If you are on Windows, there is a chance you'll have to disable temporally your Firewall or whitelist the Charles app to allow it listen for network traffic.
Hijack the request
Notes
Be prepared for the next step: 'Rewrite the response', because It has to be completed relatively fast.
If you delay then the update check at the smartphone will timeout and you'll have to repeat the update check.
So, copy the response from the next step to have it ready for quick paste.
From the logged requests, expand the "sp_ard_common", right click the request and select the "Breakpoints" option. This will pause the next identical request and will allow to edit the response.
From P9 lite, hit again the update button
If everything is correct, the Charles app will focus to desired request. At the bottom, hit the "Execute" button.
The response is executed and you should now be able to edit the response. At the top select the "Edit Response".
At the bottom select the "JSON Text" and proceed quickly to the next step before the request timeouts.
Rewrite the response
Notes
The below response is only for VNS-L31C636B331 update version.
You must modify the response for any other version of update and maybe variant of VNS. You just have to configure all the properties with the correct values. The pattern is easy to follow.
Select the response and replace it with:
Code:
{
"status": "0",
"autoPollingCycle": "1",
"components": [{
"name": "VNS-L31C636B331-OTA",
"version": "VNS-L31C636B331",
"versionID": "72074",
"description": "? ????: [????] VNS-L31C636B331 ? VNS-L31C636B331 (2016/12/13)",

"url": "http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1258/g104/v72074/f1/"
}]
}
Hit the "Execute" button.

Didn't notice that before so here's the deal:
1. Meanwhile that text changed for some reason in this thread.
2. It works with the "boxes"
I just copied and pasted the same thing as there and it worked just fine...

Hmm, you could try deleting "squares" so it would be something like this:
{
"status": "0",
"autoPollingCycle": "1",
"components": [{
"name": "VNS-L31C636B331-OTA",
"version": "VNS-L31C636B331",

}
It worked Thanks a lot

So if I wanted to download the version for the C432 localization this would work? I'd just need to change the localization in the code?
Also, may it cause any problems with future updates? What do you think is going to happen when the official update is released?
I have a question: I updated following this method but the package you get is incomplete. It misses many things and the phone is in fact unusable. Can you also download the additional package by following this method? Or is there a solution? I think you should've said that in the first place because I've followed the guide but now I'm stuck with an incompletely updated phone. Help me, please...

This also happened to me, I didn't have anything EMUI related besides the installed apps, also I tried resetting the phone (dumbest thing I've done this year) and it ended up saying "Reset Failed" and now I'm stuck with a "Your device has failed verification and may not work properly." screen and when I boot into the actual system I can't get past the setup screen since it has no keyboard so I can't input my wifi password.
Now I'm trying to download the VNS-L31C432B161 4.4.1 emui version and try the 3 button method in order to get my phone working again, also, I can't install a custom rom because that screen that prevents me from entering fastboot mode or bootloader through adb so no luck there.

[GUIDE] How to see LTE instead of 4G (or the way around)

Hi guys,
This is a simple guide for changing the 4g icons to LTE or the way around
Requirements:
* ADB, you can download it here
* Bootloader: I don' t know if this guide works with bootloader locked, I tried with the unlocked one
Make sure that your device can be recognized by PC
FOR SHOWING LTE INSTEAD OF 4G:
Code:
[CENTER]adb shell
settings put system hw_show_lte "mcccodeofcountry;260"[/CENTER]
FOR SHOWING 4G INSTEAD OF LTE:
Code:
[CENTER]adb shell
settings put system hw_show_lte "260"[/CENTER]
Best Regards !
Works in Android 9 Stock?
Pls give me an example, what i have to put here?
"mcccodeofcountry;260"

You can edit hw_default.xml on cust for that, you can show 4.5G if you want it to.
But doesn't means that is true.
You can e in 4G zone but no LTE.
Example my icon shows 4Glte because is on 4G network with LTE.
Huawe have a prop written wrong, i fixed and stars to show like this.
I can't remember for sure but i think is this
persist.volte_enabled_by_hw=1
.

Hi, I don't know if this information is still useful for you.
I have a P20 pro running on EMUI 8.1 and the device no longer displays "LTE+" anymore after I changed my device model from L04(Canada) to L09(Europe).
This method works for me.
For the Mobile Country Code(MCC) you can find it in this link. Open the link then try to find your country.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_country_code
For example, I'm in Canada and my Mobile Country Code(MCC) is 302.
So, I will input something like this in my terminal
settings put system hw_show_lte "302;260"
then reboot the device.
Some findings:
1. After I changed MCC to 302, the device doesn't display "LTE+" anymore.
2. I tried 310(US) and my device displays "4G+" icon, not “LTE” or "LTE+"(Maybe every country is different).

I have to put the quotes? You have put a number after your MCC, what is it?

Yes, you have to put the quotes. I don't know what 260 means. I just follow the instruction form DarkJoker360.
settings put system hw_show_lte "mcccodeofcountry;260" This is the DarkJoker360's original command.
settings put system hw_show_lte "302;260" Then I changed mcccodeofcountry to the actual number
