Hello.
I was deleting 2 SMS messages, I did long press on the 1st until the blue tick appeared then selected the 2nd SMS.
I then quickly went to the top 3 dots to select 'Delete' and the next thing I saw is blue ticks all the way down the right hand side of the screen with 'Deleting' on the screen.
The screen refreshed and it was blank - all SMS messages deleted :-(
What are my options to recover them?
I have looked at apps like Fonedog & Dr Fone but after they connect they state root is required.
I was not using Google backup and had just tried Mi Cloud backup/sync a few weeks ago but with just photos selected.
My phone details;
Model: Mi 5
Android version: 8.0.0 OPR1.170623.032
Android Security patch level: 2018-10-01
MIUI version: MIUI Global 10.2 Stable 10.2.2.0(0AAMIXM)
In Developer options:
OEM unlocking is greyed out but it says "Bootloader is already unlocked" underneath (see screenshot below)
Mi Unlock status says "Unlocked"

Your help and suggestions greatly appreciated - I had some sentimental messages I would definitely like to recover. I have removed the SIM, turned off Wifi, turned on aircraft mode and phone is turned off unused.
If the bootloader is already unlocked - could I try to root the device (with low risk of data loss) then try Fonedog & Dr Fone recovery again?
When I first got the phone I tried Kingo-root and similar apps but they failed to root the device. I didn't take it any further at the time.
I know, I know, about backups and have already berated myself. I'm very careful deleting things and this Mi 5 has worked beautifully in the time I have had it. I just don't know how it could have happened. I promise to setup a daily backup/sync once I get over this.
Thank You.

nexus 6 marshmallow root using mac osX - error message! - device is currupt -
wanting better optimization for my Nexus 6 with marshmallow build MRA58R, i started the process of unlocking BL and going for root access following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/how-to-nexus-6-one-beginners-guide-t2948481
right in the beginning already im stuck. i unlocked bootloader fine, had toggled on in the device, checked through terminal. everything fine. started root process and as soon as i ran CF-Auto-Root it started its thing and rather pretty quickly a new screen came up reading in red letters "Device is corrupt. It can't be trusted and may not work properly." for maybe one second before shutting off. i can briefly get it to power up, only to get that same screen. a couple times i did have it back in bootloader mode through ADB from the terminal. but nothing since. the few times i did get bootloader up i tried a recovery process from the site referred by the error screen itself here: https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/6185381?p=verified_boot&rd=1
but when i ran fastboot oem unlock it now says it cannot find device and tells me to go into device and change OEM setting in developer tools. kind of tough when it wont boot up. i sure would love a solution to this one, id appreciate any help..
added: on the device in bootloader mode it reads USB connected but on the laptop will not recognize any connected devices?

I am no expert, but it seems like you are having the exact same problem that this person had. It seems that the guide will not work on 6.0, but luckily, he seems to have found a solution.

dear Lord baby Jesus, thank you. only on step 2 and its further then ive been in hours. :good:
Yes it is weird and it cost me a lot to localize my problem but it looks like it is like the title lays.
Smartphone: ZTE Nubia Z7 mini (NX507J)
ROM: Stock 1.82 based by [email protected] Link: http://www.needrom.com/download/zte-nubia-z7-mini-4/
Android version: 4.4.2
SuperSU Free v2.78
Update mode: in-app normal
Root after: Intact
I noticed suddenly that I couldn't access to my SIM options like unlocking pin, select ringtone, etc. Since i already had the SIM properly set up and it was functioning properly I didn't pay much attention but it has come a time when I have to use the dual SIM card feature and have to access the options. The only thing I could do after a factory reset was reflashing the ROM. After that I could access the SIM options of both cards without problems. I set up all my backups and then realized again that the issue was repeating.
A new reflash and then I was checking the SIM options after every step I did to know what was causing the bug. It turns out that it was after updating the SuperSU binaries.
The weird thing is that despite the phone shows 'no cards' it can send and receive calls, mms, data, etc. So, if you had set up properly the cards before the bug you can use them. But you cannot select with which card you want to call or use for data (always card 1) which makes the dual card function useless for my job (I don't want to call from my personal phone for obvious reasons).
This is a screencapture with some indications. It is full size and that's why I hid it

I would appreciate any ideas or guidance I could apply to solve the problem. Thanks!
I fixed this by uninstalling the updated SuperSU app. It reverted to the older one which worked fine. If you cant then try downloading an older version and installing that using TWRP or a file explorer.
After unlocking the bootloader, installing TWRP and installing SU I can`t change "Scale view" to "Standard" mode?
I`m currently on stock ROM.
Any working solutions how to fix this problem?
This happened to me too however I simply went to settings selected normal view and instantly again switched to zoom view and closed settings.
Then I switched off my phone and after 5 minutes turned it on back and it went to normal view however in settings it still shows that it is on zoom mode.
Note: I am on build 19s
This might be a pure luck or some bug that caused it or may be some security tweeks by leeco.

Hi Ezio_003, thanks for your reply!
I tried your method several times, but unfortunately did not have any luck.
When you closed the settings, did you use the back button or closed it some other way?

I simply pressed back button and then closed from launcher.
Another solution you may try is to reinstall EUI
But then twrp might go away
I tired this way and also to switch off the phone in the scale view menu.
Yes, It seems I will have to try with another ROM
I like the stock ROM but I needed root to remove some preinstalled apps.
At first I did not even notice the screen was in the zoom mode until I saw that there was a little space on the home screen.
Thanks for your help! I appreciate it.
Unlocked my new Mi9 today after a week of waiting and flashed 9.3.28 Xiaomi EU rom on it (latest 10.3, dont want 10.4 yet) and.. I can't seem to get past the setup phase, it keeps asking me to "Confirm your password" and allowing only numbers to enter. Using twrp 3.3.0 v11. And yes, I DID format it, but it just can't seem to get past this phase. I've googled up various exploits that let you log in to google before that step using youtube or calling, but they don't seem to be working for me. Could really need some help with this.
could you post a picture?...is it asking to activate your XIAOMI-Account?
Xiaomi account logs in fine, it has something to do with google.

Hi,
i had the same problem and found this solution on reddit
Edit: I found the craziest solution on an obscure forum online. Editing this post instead of deleting incase anyone else has this problem. When you're at the wi-fi activation step, click on your wi-fi and try to change the password. Type your own phone number (or anyone elses). Click the eye icon to see your own password and highlight the text. Press "call". Enter your number as a new contact in your caller app and press "share". Share the contact with Gmail. When it asks you to enter an email, click on the "other" button. Enter an email. Choose the "exchange" option, then click "change certificate". You will be able to make a new PIN code instead of entering one.

Hope this will work for you too
I've had that problem on other phones if I didn't remove my screen lock and Google account from the phone before flashing and I was using an unnoficial TWRP build. Google FRP doesn't tend to play well with TWRP (sometimes even official builds) and it looks like Google FRP is what is causing your problem.
You should use TWRP 3.3.0 by wzsx, for xiaomi.eu rom it's the best working one.
Hi guys, I'm so happy to join the mi community. Please help me with an urgent connection problem on my new 11 ultra.
It shows "LTE/5G" on the right top, next to the battery sign. However, I do not get any data (browser/chrome) on my phone.
Does it matter with unlocking or not? (because it shows LTE sign but does not actually get anything)
Can I solve it by install EU rom or Global rom?

Answer is simple, search for your carrier APN details and update it manually. You'll have everything working perfect, the only issue is you have to repeat it at every factory reset or rom change. But do not worry if you'll keep the same rom at all times.
this link might help:
Red Pocket Mobile APN Settings - MoneySavingPro
How to change the Red Pocket internet data & MMS APN settings on your iPhone & Android phone or tablet.
www.moneysavingpro.com
When you add the new APN, don't change existing one, just create new one and use it.
Also, seems like you are not on latest software update. Try to update your device over wifi, maybe new settings are added to your new software and you do not have to do it manually
@hassanaliyeh. Thanks for your prompt reply! Tried all apn setting above, still doesn't workk..
Don't know whether the main problem is "Red Pocket Mobile"
I saw several people talking about att does not work. so i switch to t mobile mvno, but still does not work.
Anyone using Red Pocket Mobile here?
Thanks

Also try to do reset network settings. Might work.
Have you tried different browser? Could be another reason
