Hi Devs,
Can some devs come together and work on a separate side-load-eable MI DIALER Port for AOSP roms and normal MIUI?
Something really similar to ANXCamera. Xiaomi and many other manufacturers have become really lazy by not providing region specific apps and clubbing all regions in their global apps together.
For example, countries like India, Indonesia other many other SEA countries do not have any legislations about declared call recording (in fact encouraged) but Xiaomi does not provide their very capable Mi Dialer anymore and instead bundles the pathetic Google Dialer.
Google in all it's self righteous glory declares calls are being recorded to both the parties when using it's Google Dialer, without an option to turn it off in countries where it's not mandated (talk about Google being richer than countries and setting it's own regulations).
This doesn't seem like a really difficult thing to do for a couple of capable developers giving it a couple of days and should really be a thing to be taken care of.

I don't think any dev would be interested in doing so. For any reason you need call recording very badly, you can use custom MIUI ROMs like EU, MiMix, Hellas, etc. If that is not your cup of coffee, then use any third-party call recording apps made for AOSP ROMs.
Good luck!
You can flash NikGapps on vanilla aosp builds it's has modified AOSP dilaer which let you enjoy recording feature. beside, You can install module (root needed) to make it happen.
Would sepatare app for call rcording wouldn't work?

Doesn't work. Google has screwed something up where all the playstore apps are redundant. All are only at the mercy of the great Google for their announced call recording using the google-dialer.
Im currently using ACR but other party is very silent in comparison.recordin from within the dialer would be perfect.

Nice! good for rooted chaps. Having said that, there should be a way for the not so technically inclined. I personally, seriously have an aversion towards keeping the root level access to my phone open all the time. There should be something available for lesser mortals like me who choose not to root. Something similar to ANXCamera which just requires a simple flash.
People are underestimating the gravity of the current situation, this new wave of Chinese phones have only started giving these pathetic G-apps, instead of the apps they used to provide, people are having no options other than change phones/roms. I personally know a chap who sold off a brand new phone just because it had the Google Dialer and moved to a pathetic Samsung mid-ranger just for the call-recording functionality.

I'm using true phone dialer with inbuild call recorder and I can recommend the pro
True Phone Dialer & Contacts - Apps on Google Play
Powerful T9 phone and contact manager with dual SIM support and call recorder
play.google.com
Use any vanilla ROM that has call recorder and install gapps, but edit the script so that the aosp dialer is not replaced with Google's. Done.
MIUI Dialer is not only good for recording calls but the UI itself is the best. There is not a single dialer as of now that can beat MIUI dialer's UI and simplicity. If somebody can make it, it'd be great.

Do you use Tasker? Do you use IFTTT? Do you use call recording apps? Do you use SMS backup apps? If yes then you will be shocked to know that a stupid policy change Google is implementing in Android Pie will make all of these app unusable.
Google is turning into Apple and restricting usage of call recording and SMS backup apps on Android Pie. Apps like SMS backup & restore, Tasker, Skvalex call recorder, ACR will no longer work on Pie unless Google changes this policy.
I highly recommend you guys go to this policy exception link and click on the star to indicate you are affected by this issue and hope Google reverses this policy. Didn't the Tasker dev already come out and state he was whitelisted by google?

Yeah but I think it is not confirmed yet and also they haven't said if all the permissions the Tasker dev requested will be granted yet. The other issues are even bigger like IFTTT, SMS backup and call recording.
boldbeast is working fine with pie beta.
Boldbeast dev is amazing. Is it working without root though?

My Search Fu may not be the best, but I did try to find an answer. Is there any way to successfully record calls with the current release of Android (10 with One UI 2.5) on the Note9 without using root or changing CSC in regions where it is not enabled in the Samsung phone app?
Some people have used third-party call recording apps with the phone's speakerphone mode. Unfortunately, that is not an option in public, especially when dealing with something sensitive. It is incomprehensible that Google would remove functionality that is one of the most basic, most necessary ones for smartphone users. It is COMPLETELY LEGAL for me to record calls where I live. Allow me to do so.

I just purchased this samsung phone after ages (been using xiaomi and other phones) but unfortunately it does not offer call recording in my country. Can anyone please share if they were able to change the CSC code to one with working call recording (indian csc maybe I have seen some indian youtubers mentioning how to enable call recording) .....also please guide me how exactly do you change the csc code on this phone any tutorial would be very helpful thanks.
Quick Update: I was able to enable call recording by changing my CSC through sam fw tool there is a catch tho, as soon as I change my csc to anything non-native the galaxy store starts spamming "get recommended apps from your provider" ads after every few minutes and there is no way to block notifications from galaxy store (the option to disable notifications is greyed out) so I had to revert back.
How about completely disabling the galaxy store then?
Do some people actually use that bloatware for real? That was like the first thing I debloated
Here you can read how I enabled native call recording feature on my Samsung device
Should work on most modern day Samsung devices out there
Enjoy

Galaxy Store is required because samsung apps (camera, themes, keyboard, cloud backup etc) are not available in play store they update via galaxy store disabling galaxy store would make sense only on a custom rom which unfortunately isnt available for my device A33 and I am not rooted either. I came back to samsung after many years on ios, miui and other UI and I am baffled by how polished One UI has become I can never go back to MIUI (it was a torture with all its bugs that never get fixed) or any other User interface.....I can literally customize anything from icons, font, system wide theming to even the statusbar icons (using good lock app) back in the days we had to use xposed modules to modify statusbar icons. Lack of native call recording is my only gripe with ONE UI at the moment.
Hi my default region is dubai. For call recording option i changed my fw to indian fw. Actually i got the call recording option. Similarly im having good battery life better than before. Only catch was samsung pay replace for Samsung pay mini. I think its better to switch full fw than only cse
So is it possible to change csc in a33 using samfw? to enable call recording?
Yes,
Have you not read the other posts?
I was due a replacement phone - so I decided on the A33 5G (sim free, untouched by any network provider)
.
Bought it direct from the Samsung Store online, paid £319.99 - £10 cheaper than most other stores online, i didnt want a contract, didnt want finance, just went hassle free and paid for it outright and it was direct from manufacturer.
I would usually require the most powerfull device available with the most freedom. and least restrictions, lets say a feature packed, flagship for a power user.
Well... my needs have changed and wow, for a mid entry device - the A33 is awesome.
BUT NO Native call recording in the UK.
-----------------------------------------------
I am 100% capable and confident with reprogramming the device if needed, I was a phone technician back in the day, the Beginning of Android changed the game for me and killed any future progression in my career.
Anyhow, can anyone advise - what other features are restriction by laws, location etc etc.
Is there any tools that can scan the firmware, or list all CSCs with their geolocated features etc.
kind regards,
Dan
This past weekend I installed LineageOS 20 on my recent P7.
After solving some doubts, such as installing the stock pixel camera simply by installing it from the play store, I have several more doubts that have yet to be resolved:
1. One of the reasons why I installed LineageOS was for the native recording of calls, something very important to me and that I missed from my Xiaomi phones with xiaomi.eu rom. However, do you know if there is a way that it can be set to record all calls BY DEFAULT? Currently you have to activate it in each call you make with the phone.
2. For my taste, the launcher is missing a couple of details that could be corrected with Nova. I want to take advantage of the fact that the launcher respects privacy and keep the one that Lineage brings. However, I miss being able to better manage and manipulate the widgets and being able to expand the app grid from the maximum allowed, which is 6x6. Do you know if there is any way to improve these two aspects with the launcher that Lineage brings or any other open source launcher?
Thanks in advance !
Lawnchair.
There's also OpenLauncher but I haven't tried it personally.

Lawnchair 12.1 is in alpha state, missing some essential stuff when I was testing it last week. Lawnchair 2 is outdated and sometimes buggy. That's why I use Nova Premium (bought it like 300 years ago when it was just 2 bucks). When Lawnchair 12 is in beta or RC I will surely give it another try. Sadly Rootless Launcher is not up to date anymore, and so is Ruthless Launcher. Posidon Launcher looked promising, such as Hyperion Launcher, but they did not fill my needs.

Yes, I also have a paid Nova and I have used it for many years on my Xiaomi phones.
Now I am in a slow but continuous process, to go little by little to a mobile phone with the greatest possible privacy.
The first thing I have sacrificed has been any proprietary launcher, and the one chosen to replace all of them has been Lawnchair v2.
For now, it meets all my needs.
Disable statistics/error reporting isn't enough for Nova to not trying reach out. Whenever Nova settings app is opened, it connects to 45.56.71.66 for no reason. Need to block internet connections for Nova settings app in LineageOS firewall or AFWall+ (root). This is how I use Nova. 0byte received or sent. 0 DNS requests so far. Quite good for privacy without compromises.

Using a packet sniffer I can't reproduce the scenario.
I doubt that but can't never be sure in this world. My version of Nova installed is latest, dated to December 2021, and Prime license app is even older, and that article has been posted in July 2022. No matter for me and I don't see things as a privacy threats as long as all outgoing and unnecessary DNS requests or IP addresses are blocked, and everything works. I'm fine. I decide per app basis. It would be wonderful if I knew the purpose of contacting this address, and decide to let it pass rather than strictly block all outgoing connections for everything and then check logs and make actions but a bit of transparency is too much to ask for.
I've installed and tested Lawnchair v2 for testing yesterday and whenever you open the "About" tab, it trying to reach github 185.199.111.133. In this case it's easy to track - it trying to get all info about developers, icons, then why not allow it or just keep blocking and not creating extra unnecessary firewall rule. If you ask me, it would be better if this was hard coded into app for 1MB more app size.
