Question Mi 11 Pro - Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

Hi guys,
Has anyone bought the mi 11 Pro yet and if they have what do they think of it? I know it's China only but I'm interested in it compared to the Ultra which seems just too much (as a phone) and I ask here because the Pro and Ultra are very similar devices after seeing a tear down, only major difference are the camera modules except the main one.

I'm curious about the flashing side but I'm a bit of a novice and may stick with the China Rom and adapt to it and follow the guides in this forum.

I have a cn/mi 11 pro as well and would like to know if you just followed the instructions on the 1st page for the mi11pro/ultra thread to flash stanble 12.5 eu, my current firmware is china/cn 12.0.13 latest ota update I can get...been reading there that bootloop on fastboot is rampant and you need EDL to flash the original/global rom, scared to throw $30 for that
@Kaleidoscope1337

So i was also very nervous but i thought If i get into bootloop then i can call edl for unbricking my device. So IT would only cost me 30 Dollar and i also would be on global. EU Rom is better but edl cant flash EU

(CTTO, steps from xiaomi.eu)
Succeed to flash mi11PRO from 12.0.13CN to 12.5.3 .EU and my step as below...
1. Login Miflash tool
2. Setting phone to Fastboot mode
3. Unlocked phone and reboot
4. Quick setting and make sure can login to phone
5. Setting phone to Fastboot mode again
6. Open CMD as administrator
7. Go to folder platform-tools-windows as keying command
fastboot devices > check phone already link with PC
fastboot getvar current-slot > check slot is a or b, and my device show the slot on b
fastboot set_active a > change the slot from b to a
8. Back to extract file folder and keying command
windows_fastboot_first_install_with_data_format.bat OR
./windows_fastboot_first_install_with_data_format.bat
9. Phone will auto reboot when finished (takes about 15mins to boot).

How does the EU rom compare to Chinese rom?

.eu rom is base on the chinese rom with tweak, for me its the smoothness, no bloatware and the battery, on cn rom im getting around 5-6hr sot only upon flashing .eu rom im hovering around 7-8hr sot easily, also i noticed on initial boot, ram was only around 4gb on .eu vs cn rom where it will eat around 5gb on boot

Also, is it possible to flash from 12.5 Chinese to 12.0 global? I would like to still get the OTA's

Go for the Mi 11 Pro if you don't need the zoom and just dislike the large camera bump because you're not missing out that much. They both share the same GN2 main sensor fortunately so most camera improvements usually affect the Pro too.

Which version do you have installed?? The stable or weekly??
I'm getting 4.5 SOT at best, also the phone overheats very easily.. do you have these issues??

I'm having connection issues with the following apps
Android Auto: Drops out after a couple of minutes, goes back to home screen
Dialler: Cannot have a phone conversation longer than 7-8 mins before disconnect
Messaging: Is constantly dropping out and reconnecting to my laptop
Zepp: Keeps giving connection message errors on phone and watch
I guess it's some setting but other than turn off any battery saving I'm buggered if I can find a solution.
I'm running eu rom 12.5.10

I have Mi 11 Pro and I'm very happy with it. I didn't want the ultra as the second screen by the camera is unnecessary for me and was more expensive. The battery is good, bigger than mi 11 and screen is excellent but I prefer the aspect ratio of my old Mi Max 3

Sounds more like that you need an EDL flash f you are stuck in a fastboot loop and really can't do anything more.

Stable flash rom. once you have flash the stable ROM redo the same manipulation to associate your miui account. download miuiunlock tool wait 15 days or a month depending on your location. Note Unable to enable USB debugging because of the geo restriction use a VPN to unblock. if your anti roll back and is level 4 then please download the image file call dummy.img take one of the redmi note 5 it works on the Xiaomi MI6 X. bypass anti rollback with the image file and after you can work and so install n any rom. Plug your phone to a pc, open whichever folder you have adb and stuff installed in, hold shift + right click to have "open cmd here" click it, via cmd do
Fastboot devices
If your device shows up, do
Fastboot oem unlock
Fastboot flashing unlock
Fastboot flashing unlock_critical
Each one of these will reboot your device after you swipe to confirm, so to make sure it reboots in bootloader hold down Vol - after you confirm unlock

Idk why people use MIUI if it causes problems to their phones because Xiaomi pretty much puts a lock on devices and other **** in the name of "security" because of supposed phone theft in china
As soon as ARB was a thing everyone should've jumped ship and stopped using that rom

I never tried. Normally it should work. if you have access to the fastboot mode then you can try. Normally the file is used to bypass ARB 4. The purpose of the img file is to register your CMD. the simplest for our super mid 6X would still be to use an EDL cable available on Amazon for the price of 10 dollars. if you flash a new ROM then think to erase the udapt firmware folder.

How to change the MI 9 chinese version firmware

Hi all,
I plan to go to China very soon. And to buy a MI 9 (probably the transparent version - 256GB). I was just wondering if it is possible, as of today, to replace the Chinese rom with the EU one.
What are the pro and cons?
Thank you all have a nice day!

hello there!
First of all - Yes, it is possible to replace chinese ROM with EU one. I myself did that on mine and my wifes phone. A Friend of mine was traveling from China to Europe and I got mine phones before european premiere. In order to do that - you will have to unlock the bootloader (fairly simple if you know how to plug USB cable and install one program on the computer) which usually takes about 360 hours. After that - you can flash global ROM, or any other.
Pros - You don't have bloatware from China, no chinese adds, some of the system itself is missing in chinese version (but the phone is fully usable anyway)
you can use xiaomi.eu ROM, which has improvements from community.
Cons - Not sure about warranty after BL unlock, or is the waranty is global.

You will brick your phone, if it's not stock rom and you relock it! If you go full stock and relock it works great.
Can you provide the most up-to-date guide to switch the rom from the CN to EU version?

Just the bullet points, basic knowledge of android needed
1) set up your phone with Xiaomi (register mi account, link the phone with it, log on the mi page and see if everything is in green - passwords, phone number, etc)
2) download mi unlock tool. No need to register or write petitions. just download and run
3) switch off phone. turn on phone while holding the volume down key. It will run in fastboot
4) connect with PC. press unlock on the unlock tool. Confirm 2 warnings (5 secunds pause for each), and look at % meter going up to ~99%. Then you will have information that You need to wait 360 before unlocking the phone
5) wait 360 hours --> 15 days. Use phone as normal until that time.
6) make backup of the phone (Mi cloud backs up sms, call logs, etc).
7) run the unlook tool again, turn the phone to fastboot more (point 4) and press unlock. this time it should go all the way to 100%, stating the phone is unlocked.
8) [optional] the phone will reboot, but you should keep the volume down pressed, to enter fastboot once again. Once in fastboot - you can flash TWRP ( with the help of minimal ADB, there is a guide for it)
9) [optional] once TWRP is flashed - press power, the phone will shut down. then restart the phone, but this time volume UP.
10) [optional] You will enter TWRP recovery. Things to do:
- wipe data (to remove encryption)
- connect the phone to the PC, set the phone to "mount" mode and download apropriate ZIP file to the root folder of the phone
- flash the ZIP
- restart
NOTE, that You will have to login with MI cloud login and pass after boot loader unlock.(first time the phone starts to MIUI). Usually the password is enough, as the phone will discover your phone number. I had some difficulties with it, as I had the alerts in chinese You should have wifi avaliable, as I am unsure if you can connect in this moment via cellular network.
hope it helps.

Bands are hardware related, so after flashing global ROM you won't have B20 avaliable.
Other bands will work, so it is possible that You will have LTE in your country, depending on the bands used by your carrier.

It's safe if you use TWRP since your bootloader is still unlocked, if you flash using mi flash make sure you choose clean all, do not choose clean all and lock (always check before flashing your rom), your phone will be bricked.

So in other words, you can flash mi9(china) with the global rom but you must never lock the bootloader as it will brick the phone.
Only lock the bootloader if the mi9 is on china rom. Is this correct ?

- connect the phone to the PC, set the phone to "mount" mode and download apropriate ZIP file to the root folder of the phone
- flash the ZIP
- restart
NOTE, that You will have to login with MI cloud login and pass after boot loader unlock.(first time the phone starts to MIUI). Usually the password is enough, as the phone will discover your phone number. I had some difficulties with it, as I had the alerts in chinese You should have wifi avaliable, as I am unsure if you can connect in this moment via cellular network.
hope it helps.

Super guide! Thanks. So what part of the tutorial might lead to a brick?

In theory - all above is fairly safe.
You will brick the phone, if you chose to "lock" your bootloader after doing all activities from my list.
don't do that, and you should be ok.

Downloading an EEA ROM for use with Xiaomi MiFlash

Hi all,
First of all please bear with me as I am a total noob when it comes to Android let alone the Mi 9. I have just purchased the phone and now waiting for the 360 hours to expire. Tick tock...
So in preparation I have been looking for ways to flash my phone to the MIUI EEA ROM (I have a global version running global ROM). I know MIFlash should be able to do the trick, but it seems to me there are two types of ROM files - one for the OTA update (i.e. so you would copy the file over to the phone, then use the system update feature within the phone's setting to invoke the update process), and another type of ROM files for use by MiFlash.
Assuming this is true, so far I could only manage to find the OTA update ROM for EEA:
h<spacer>ttp<spacer>:/<spacer>/en.miui.com/download-361.html#588 (sorry new users aren't allowed to post links hence this. Please copy and delete the spacers)
Does anyone know where I could grab a copy of the EEA ROM that I could use with Mi Flash so after my phone eventually gets it bootloader unlocked, I could proceed with the switch from Global to EEA?
Or am I getting this whole concept wrong?
Thanks and cheers !

Question Camera won't focus

Hey everyone. I'm hoping you can help me out
I have a mi 11 running 12.5
The main camera will not focus on it.
I had this problem before, and doing a reset fixed it, but now it is permanently not focusing.
I don't know if I'm SOL or if there is something that can be done
Even if I try manual focusing it doesn't do anything
Try to download" MIUI hidden settings" in AppStore
With that u can calibrate ur camera
On mine calibration always failed
Try to wipe the cache of the camera app
If you can, just try other rom like MIUI dev version or MIUI eu.
Or just flash latest MIUI rom again via fastboot and pray for good luck.

I want to install MIUI EU rom but I can't seem to get MIUI Unlock to ever recognize my phone being connected to try to unlock it.
This is like the 8th Mi phone I've had since the Mi 8 and I've never had this problem

Try using the original cable that came with the Mi 11 and avoid plugging it into usb hubs
I remember i had once this issue with my pixel 3. i just dropped my phone on a book for not damaged it, it was my lens that was blocked.

That seems to have done it
Now to wait 3 more days before I can unlock
I can't seem to find a stock 12.5 chinese rom on the MIUI site to try flashing through Fastboot

Not needed. I came from Global and a friend from EEA ROM and both work fine. Just don't re-do the procedure again before the timer runs out, otherwise you need to wait again.
Just wait for the timer to run out, unlock your phone and use the latest fastboot-ROM from Xiaomi.eu
Welp... finally got the bootloader unlocked, flashed back to 12.0 instead of 12.5 and it's still borked
Guess it's time to throw this on eBay and see what I can get with a wonky camera

You have 2 options
1- Send it to service center, or

You may have tried wrong firmware & that may be the reason for rebooting the phone continuously. You can try this method to unbrick oneplus 10 pro.

Easiest way to unbrick oneplus 10 pro using the fastboot enhance tool on locked or unlocked bootloader easily.

Im sure there's a way to convert to the Chinese device to another region with minimal risk..but honestly, the best take away from this is quite simple.
Do not buy Chinese phones to save a few pennies, this phone was always going to come to our shores so always best to wait.

As far as I'm aware your phone was initially a Chinese variant is that correct?
In which case it wouldn't be an EU phone at all..
So if there is a Chinese MSM tool then you can go ahead and use it to restore IF you can get into EDL mode...
If you've been unable to charge your phone then it's probably buggered..
Contact OnePlus and get a new phone.

Well if anything I'd have gone for the EU variant, they tend to get the right updates in a timely manner.
But that aside, the only real reason to change region would be to escape China's crap..
Something you didn't have a problem with.
But hey it's a learning curve, as things stand (albeit with some info I don't know about) I would say you have a paper weight.
So yep RMA time.. Luckily it doesn't boot so you can just say it died.
I would not recommend doing the same thing again.
I'm stepping back from helping with changing region, it's on the owner or people who've done it themselves, without MSM or proper usage of FE it's a mess.

I fear for your next phone
Has anyone found a way to revive the device?
Well, this conversion is getting stupider...
On 9 Pro, european model, i was on OxygenOS. I download newer version of ColorOS & Lokal Update.apk. Flash it with Lokal Upgrade. Done! All Google services workt fine.
If i wanted to go back to OxygenOS, i downloaded downgrade rom. Flash it with Lokal Upgrade. Do 1, 2 official updates. Done!
Of course 9 Pro was older than 10 Pro now & we have MSM tool for any region.
By the way ColorOS was Far Better that OxygenOS. Only 2 negatives for me:
1. alarm does not sound with the phone off. Does not have that option;
2. notification (mail, whatsapp, etc) does not work. I need to check my phone from time to time.
Updates are very fast for ColorOS. For european Oxygen, NOT! We just got A.13... India A.15 hotfix & A.14. I guess that the software team is indian..

Imagine thinking that broken notifications still makes ColorOS better. I went back to OOS12 specifically because of the notification problems. I mean what's the point of having a phone if you don't get instant notifications!?
