Question Disable Android UI? - Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

Just curious. If you download a custom launcher then is it possible / advisable to disable One UI?? Why have them both running after all?

OneUI is not just the launcher - it's the whole ROM of Samsung. And those things go deep.
As for why you can't disable the OneUI home... Android won't let you disable the default bundled launcher, because that is the fallback. If your 3rd party launcher goes into a crash loop, it bounces you back to the OneUI Home launcher so you can still use your phone.
However, that launcher is not actively running next to yours. It is mostly disabled (not completely, since the launcher provides the recents screen, so that part still runs).

[Q] Home screen cascade with stock launcher?

Is there anyway to enable a cascade home screen menu when you're already home and you press home again (like in HTC's Sense UI) on the stock launcher (or an alternate launcher that has a stock UI) on a rooted n1?
I'd really prefer not to run a third party launcher if at all possible.
I tried searching but only found results for fixing broken screens. :-\
Thanks for your help.
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by cascade homescreen menu but I doubt what you want is possible in the stock launcher. Regardless I suggest you install something like Launcher Pro for added features but above all else, for the massive improvement in speed and smoothness. It was really a night and day difference on my phone and you can make Launcher Pro look exactly like stock. It was like buying a new phone.

[Q] Locking the homescreen layout

Not sure if I'm overlooking something simple or whether the feature doesn't exist but is there a way to lock all the widgets in place once you have got your homescreen set out the way you want it? I'm sick of keep accidentally moving or deleting stuff when I drop my phone in my pocket before the screen has turned off.
I know there is an option in CM7 to do this but is it something that is a native android function or is it something that ROM devs would need to incorporate? I've tried searching for something that does it on the market but I just get swamped with lockscreen apps, and not screen locking.
Hi!
I'm using CM7 + Go launcher EX. Locking home screen layout can be done by pressing menu button (while you in home screen) -> more -> lock screen.
CM7 default launcher have same functionality, as far as i remember.
regards.
Yeah, I know it's available in CM7 but I prefer the sense interface so that's why I was wondering if this is something unique to CM7 or whether it is hidden somewhere within all android systems.
It's a functionality of the Launcher. CM7 uses ADW Launcher, you could install this on your sense ROM.

Using TASKER to automatically change launcher/theme when launcher/theme is changed by

*****Posted on StackExchange but didn't get an answer so far, hopefully someone could help me here*****
I am using a Huawei P9+ running on Android 7 (Nougat) and one of the annoying things with it is from time to time, the theme reverts back to the ugly Huawei Home theme, even though I use Nova Launcher by default.
Right now my strategy is I manually go to Apps -> Default App Settings -> Launcher to change it to Nova Launcher, however from time to time it would revert back again randomly.
I have Tasker installed and I am wondering if there is some way I can configure it so that whenever the launcher is changed to something other than Nova Launcher, it would be able to switch back to Nove Launcher automatically?
Forgot to mention I have Secure Settings (paid version) installed and my phone is rooted (using Super User, there is no proper SuperSu that works on this one yet).

Third party launchers not working?

So I've tried both Nova and Lawnchair launchers on my Pixel 5, and both have the same issue, when swiping up to go back Home, it resets back to the default Pixel launcher.
I looked in settings for both launchers, as to why it's doing that, but can't find why?
Is this a known issue, that launchers don't work on Android 11?
I use nova and have found that if I set default to nova and the then go back to the settings/apps/pixel Launcher and force close it, it keeps it from happening. Also when I'm in there I disable all notifications and permissions as well.

I'm on the November security update of Android 11 and I've had zero issues with Nova launcher.
Still no issues with Nova here.

How are you setting the launcher as the main launcher?
Go to the main settings, apps, default apps. Set the home launcher you want here. Sticks everytime for me.
No issues with Nova here. I do use 3 buttons navigation instead of gesture navigation, but i've just switched it and tested, "home" swipe works fine and opens Nova.
Make sure you've set it as default launcher.
I absolutely set Nova as Home launcher in the App - Default -Settings, and when I swipe up from home gesture it resorts back to the standard Pixel launcher.
Just tried to reproduce again. Set the system yo "gestures" control. Fired up a "google keep". Did a "home" swipe (from the bottom edge up, without holding at the end). Got Nova!

Manually start Nova. Don't play with anything else. Go into Nova Launcher settings. From there you can set Nova as the default launcher. No issues, it will stick.
I had a bit of weirdness setting the default launcher from Android settings, and if I recall correctly, from my 4 XL as well.
I would venture a guess that's why the Nova folks put that setting in their application.

Nova Launcher / exit app homescreen bug

I'm not a fan of having huge app icons so I've made Nova my default launcher. very occasionally, maybe 5 or 6 times in the 5 days of having this phone hitting the back key to leave an app or settings has taken me to a homescreen that wasn't mine.
it features apps that I've definitely installed and looks to be the example of how my wallpaper will look in settings / wallpaper.
it's no biggie but it is weird, wondering if anyone else had this ?

Yes I have the same issue. Than when i go to Nova settings the radio buttons on default launcher are both cleared (Nova & One UI). Seems like a bug. I am using as well Nova Google Discovery Companion. It's crashing from time to time and than I lose Google Discovery feed. The only workaround i find to work i to reinstall companion app.
there's also this weird bug where an icon in the draw at the top vanishes but it's space is there and you can click and open it.
still had to delete and reinstall it to bring the icon back.
Anyone else having problems with "Home" setting?
My FE tends to randomly forget my choice of launcher. I have Rootless Pixel and Nova Launcher Beta installed, and from time to time I find myself back at the OneUI interface instead. When I go to Settings>Apps>Default Apps, I find Home app set...
