I love the search bar under dock like China Rom/Xiaomi.eu..
Is there any way to get it on EEA without unlocking and root it? I know I can use another launcher, but due to Xiaomi, no gestures ..

I am getting this phone soon and can not wait. BUT, I really do not like the look of MUI. I'm not interested in having some kind of IOS look-a-like with no apps tray. Has anyone else been using Google Now, or any other launcher, for a while? Could someone who knows about these things explain the pros and cons of just using a different Launcher over MUI rather than flashing a new CM based ROM? Do the changes made by MUI interfere with a more traditional Android launcher?
Used miui7 on my my oneplus one for a good while. No trouble at all to just change the launcher. Was one of the first things I did the second time I used it. Mainly because I needed a launcher that would rotate 180°. Miui doesn't do that for the launcher.
But if all you want is an app drawer, you can easily simulate one with miui launcher. Just create a folder, drop every single app in there and place it in the dock area, where a drawer would be. That's all an app drawer is after all.
The only problem is sorting the apps inside the folder since on miui 7 I never found a way of sorting apps inside a folder alphabetically. I just worked around this by swiping up from the home screen and typing in the first letters of whatever app I was searching for.
BTW you're not losing anything by replacing the miui launcher, the miui experience isn't the launcher alone, it's way more than that. If anything, you're gaining extra functionality but just using nova or alike. Can't say about miui8, never used it.
One of the first things I did when I got the Mi5 a couple of days back was to install Nova Launcher for the same reason. The other thing was to swap the hardware buttons around.
It works just as you'd expect - getting an App drawer and the ability to have a centred home screen.
One of the issues with the MIUI base is that you can't change the Lockscreen wallpaper when your active launcher isn't the MIUI launcher. This is easily fixed by switching to the MIUI launcher, changing the lock screen wallpaper from the settings menus, then switching back to your launcher of choice.
I use buzz launcher and think it's great
Change the launcher. Miui is great otherwise!

New Mi Mix owner here, and I'm curious if there's a way to hide ALL icons, particularly the pinned icons at the bottom. Ideally, the pinned icons could be hidden like the taskbar in Windows autohides, and I could just swipe up from anywhere on the screen to unhide the pinned icons.
I've downloaded but not yet at all played with the bootloader, so I'm still on Xiaomi's Global ROM.
You'll likely need to use a different launcher to achieve that.
I have a similar setup using Nova Launcher.
Is there any custom rom that doesnt have unremovable google search bar on the bottom of the screen ? Or atleast with a launcher that provides a setting to delete it, unlike evox and so on, third party launchers doesnt work properly so cant fix it with that
Use another launcher like Nova Prime so you can decide yourself how your screen will look like.
Don't need a custom rom to achieve that.

yep, but these launchers usually doesnt works under custom roms for some reason neither they support android 10 gestures so the whole feeling about using the phone is really ****, same goes with miui 12 with different laucnhers, even their own poco doesnt support a10 gestures.
Any havoc
Hello, I have a problem with the navigation gestures and the custom launcher, Nova launcher in this case, but all the tested launchers had this problem. When I return to the home page and I tap on an application quickly after, the screen flashes and the application does not launch. But while waiting half a second after having returned to the home page, I do not have this problem.
The navigation bar doesn't trigger the problem and the One Ui launcher works fine.
Does anyone have this problem?
Watch my video to see the problem more precisely.

Yeah. Nova devs said it's a Google limitation that they put on 3rd party launchers. So we have to wait til Google let's 3rd party launchers have some sort of access to something.
If you noticed, the lower corner have the white marking to activate google assistant that pops up.
This problem is also on Android 10 on most devices... Its a shame google doesnt dort this out...
You can have third party gestures 100 percent working on any Samsung phone if you install Hexed from the Play Store, create a custom theme and in the theme preferences check Navbar height and set it to 0DP. After you build the theme the navbar will be gone and you can use something like Vivid Navigation gestures for your navigation. You can even hide the battery icon and keep the percentage. I highly recommend the app.
I thought it was fixed with Android 11
I could be satisfied with the One Ui launcher but we can't at all install icon packs that come from the play store... Damn I begin to regret my OnePlus 7 Pro

I've thought the same... Its strange... Yes in terms of launcher oneplus is nice but thery Update policy ****ed me up... Had the 7t pro mclaren that im using as second phone and they said Android 11 on December 2020, now its february and nothing... Also security patch is November 2020. Samsung is way better innterms of update/camera/battery abd build quality...
I would like to know if you can help me solve this problem that when I install a new launcher the navigation bar is activated automatically and if I want to change to gestures manually these do not work
You need to configure new gestures on new launcher.
I am using nova launcher.
