I can't pick any option when I connect the phone to the computer, they all are greyed out. The only way to transfer files from my phone to my PC is through TWRP or changing the default USB option through developer settings.
Can someone help?
Can you attach screenshots?

This happened with me on my phone's stock image. All the usb options were greyed out. I tended to look for solutions, but couldn't find anything relevant. Then, with a later update, it got fixed. However, now I'm using a custom rom(Resurrection Remix), so there are no issues with USB atm.
I would suggest you to install a suitable and stable custom rom(Lineage OS, is the best) on your device. It might help.
If you are on Lineage (You don't say) just set the USB option to always transfer in developer settings, Plus make sure USB debugging mode is turned off.

Lately my PC refuses to detect any USB connection when I connect phone via USB cable. It charges and if I enable USB debugging I get a notification for that too but the USB utilities thing won't pop up that lets you choose the mode of connection(Mass storage etc.)
I have installed/reinstalled drivers over and over. Eventually it was working but now it won't even work once.
I need help!
Mounting from recovery does nothing either
On custom ROM (RRemix )
EDIT: Let windows update pick the drivers and now can connect as MTP device BUT still no USB utilities (Rom is cm11 based) so i don't really know what else to do :/

Thanks will try that!
I have two Nexus 6s, one completely stock and one that I just upgraded to Marshmallow. I downloaded sdk and minimal adb and fastboot today in order to install marshmallow. I just plugged in my completely stock unmodified Nexus 6 into my computer to get my photos off my stock Nexus before I send it back to amazon and although the phone charges, nothing pops up for it being a storage device, I switched it between MTP and PTP on the phone but it does nothing, the phone does not show up, same goes for the Nexus 6 that has marshmallow on it, also switched that to MTP. My computer detects the phone because it allows me to eject it from usb but that is about it. Anything else I can try? trying to get pics off the old Nexus before I send it back.

btw adb sees the phone no problem
I have the same problem. Windows seems to recognize the phone, but it displays no content when I try to browse files.
Just did a clean flash of the factory image.
EDIT:
Ok, I'm an idiot... here's the solution:

nope that does nothing on my phone, both are set correctly at MTP or PTP, nothing works
BTW when I eject the USB it lists it as "android adb interface" I have a feeling that is why it is not showing up?
Mine just says MTP when I eject it. Did you try toggling USB debugging on and off?

I deleted the adb driver and that fixed the issue but that can't be the correct way because I think it would be pointless to have to install and delete the adb driver each time I want to use it? I knew it was more computer related than phone related but what is the correct way to make the phone work with a adb driver installed on the computer?

I honestly don't know. I've always had mixed results. Sometimes it would work automatically, sometimes I'd have to manually install the google drivers when the phone is in the bootloader.
Had the same "problem", to fix it and for windows to show the contents of the phone, you just need to pull down the top drawer and select mtp file transfer from the USB options. It is set for " charge only" as default. Try it out!

Pull down the status bar and set charge only to transfer files

Exactly: it is not a problem, but just a new way to manage USB connections. You just have to pull down the status bar and choose one of the USB options for your Nexus 6
lol you guys aren't understanding, I did that and it did not fix the issue. The phone was still not recognized as a storage device. I also tried a Nexus 6 that was on 5.1.1 which does not have the charging only option in the drawer and it also was not recognized but once I deleted the adb driver from my computer, my computer saw both as storage devices when I put them into MTP mode
Go into developer settings
Make sure checked Debugging on
Then Scroll down
Look for MTP CHange it to something else in the settings
then back MTP Your computer will then see it it bug in 6.0

Hi suite works all annoyingly well for me. Dunno what's wrong on your end, buddy.
Annoyingly, because it always pings my desktop and opens whenever I connect to my PC.

USB-Configuration in developeroptions checked?
If any Option like it should be, try reinstall of HiSuit on PC?! (! If de & reinstall, SAVE your [email protected] BEFORE uninstall Hisuite!)
Have same issue on two p20 pro, both brand new, and factory settings. Can't figure it out

Turn off USB debugging.
Completely delete all drivers whilst not connected. In Windows click options show all devices, including hidden.
Install hisuite.
Next connect the phone then let it install.
Then disconnect and turn on USB debugging.
Let it install that too.
Can you see the device?
PS: there's only so many ways it can connect.
Nuking the driver then reconnecting afresh is the best way.
WORKED:
uninstall all of hisuite components with revo uninstaller
restart pc
connect phone via usb
turn on debugging
then open hisuite installer that shows as virtual CD in my computer
install it, and open
now, on phone ALLOW HDB
go to developer options, and as USB CONNECTION TYPE choose charging
and allow your PC to use phone
thats it

### The only way it worked for me was after being connected to the PC and have opened the HiSuite THEN GO to the last step and it looks is the only way it changes for charging only. If you don't have either the PC connected and on the HiSuite program, it doesn't change at all. Check bellow on the ###.:good:
Well it worked for me any way Thank's hexen88

Also check your cable, some cables only allow charge only.

It must of been a bug, once i updated to 9.0 it now connects fine and has done since updating.
If it still helps i think i got it.
Use the original huawei charging cable you got with the phone.
I tried it all.. tethering, debugging, hisuite etc.. but nothing worked
1. step Install HiSuite on computer,
2. step plug in your phone with original cable,
3. step HiSuite on computer will run by itself,
4. step select transfer files on your phone,
5. step computer will ask you if you all it to install HiSuite on your phone and click ok,
6. step on your phone pop up will show to install HiSuite on Huawei.
Maybe also go to settings - connections - usb thetering (if needed) and thick it.
Hope it helps, it did for me - but barley lost my mind...
Good luck,
Toni
Hi, i have a problem about transfer my fotographs from phone to pc. When i plugged usb cable, the phone starts just charging. I've checked several time to usb settings, MTP is open. I tried different cable and pc's. I'm definitely sure problem caused by the phone. Do you have any idea how to fix this ? I can not use smart switch at the same time.
Try wiping the Cache Partition in Recovery Mode. Or use a different cable.

Different cable is not working, i' m going to try wipe cache partition. Someone told me that, when you plugged phone to pc, if you can not choose connecting USB section in connections >
internet sharing, your usb port might be corrupted. I' m afraid of the port is corrupted.
Any solution??

Go into settings and make sure developer options is enabled and then actually go into developer options and scroll down until you see default USB connection and choose one while the phone is plugged into the computer if it already says transfer files then change it to charge mode and then change it back to transferring files and see if that works. If that doesn't work then open the dialing pad and put *#0808# and choose MTP + ADB or switch it back and forth.
Hello, I have a Sony X Xperia Performance. Stock firmware 41.3.A.2.149 has been flashed. Full wipe was also done with TWRP 3.6.0_9-0_dora.img. I have tested several ROMs: ,,lineage-18.1-20210802-UNOFFICIAL-dora.zip" and ,,crDroidAndroid-9.0-20201123-dora-v5.12.zip" from XDA.
Both ROMs doesn´t allow USB adjustment for file transfer (MTP) under "connected devices" in the settings. But if I go into developer options, enable USB debugging and go into default USB configuration, then I can turn it on.
What is the reason? What am I doing wrong? Thank you!
