Question Samsung S21 Ultra, Stepcounter is way out there wrong - Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

Hi!
I bought this telephone just days ago and my problem is that the stepcounter in Samsung Health on the S21 is just horribly wrong. This morning I stood up, went to the bathroom, then the kitchen, made myself a cup of coffee and sat down in the living room. At that point the counter had reached 149 steps! Then I went for a little stroll and it read 3200 steps on a distance of 500 meters, give or take a few.
Also, the stopwatch in Watch 3 don't stop when I get home.
Why is this? Is there some settings in the S21 that is wrong or is there a bug? Please help!
Best regards,
Handerre

Most expensive you have lost

I have many friends who have lost their mobiles recently. My husband lost his precious D500 6 months after he bought it. It was a wedding gift
What is the most expensive phone that you have lost? And how?
Well not expensive but a cheapo phone ,but i was gobsmacked that people viewing our house which is for sale stole the phone, while they were with estate agent
I lost my HP iPAQ rx1715 in a medical centre. It was gone 15 minutes later when I checked.
I dropped my Nokia 7600 down the loo. I grabbed it out as fast as I could (very pleasant) and whipped the battery out as quickly as possible, rinsed off the phone, flushed, left it to dry and fortunately it was ok when I put the battery back in. Suppose it was always a bit of a ****ty phone though!
A good friend of mine managed to drive over his pocket loox at a petrol station, he'd driven a mile down the road before he noticed his sat nav was missing so he drove back to find it smashed to pieces right where he'd filled up. But insurance can be cool.
My iPAQ 6365 was ripped out of its case while I was protecting my pregnant wife from getting pushed on the subway. I felt so sorry for the bastard that took it. LOL
I would never have been introduced to the joys of a Wizard if that hadn't happened. As a matter of fact, my wife felt so bad for me, she offered to buy me the Qtek right on the spot.

How did you know it was them.. did you get it back?
I don't know how you guys have lost your phones, I watch mine very carefully, too expensive to lose, I even considered getting a rider on my home insurance for it.[/I]
I got a brand new 8525 back in March on a Monday and went to the local mall and it was on my belt clip in a holster and when I realized it was not there 10 minutes after I had went into the mall I raced back to the parking lot and previous aisle I was on and svr desk but it was gone, I was upset so this was the most expensive. I ended up getting another 1 abt 3 days later and this one I guard w\me life I barely let others use it..
My phone went missing a while back (taken off the bench I was sitting on). I got another phone when I realized and called it. Someone answered so I asked why they had my phone. I then asked where they were- and they told me! I ran to that place and got it back. Thank god the thief was so thick, they normally take the sim out straight away.
if i lost mine id have a heart attack.. cuz need to be more careful with ur ****
Lost
My husband lost his D500 Samsung while shooting at some god forsaken place in the middle of a jungle resort.
It was so expensive and was an anniversary gift as well. He had kept it in the car and forgot to take it when he got down.
I havn't managed to lose one yet but had just as bad.
I owned an XDA IIi (Alpine) that had a habbit of bricking about every 2 or 3 months. When it was away for warranty repair, I felt well helpkess.
I ended up setting up a spare MDA Compact II just in case.
My wife managed to destroy a wee Samsung D500 with a leaky water bottle in her Gym bag.
When you lose/break an ordinary phone its bad, but when a PDA goes wrong - yuchhhh

well mate, the phone alarm hadbeen used to wake us that morning, and we had job around the house all day so had not been out
the person veiwing the house came at 2:45 and left at 3,about 5-530,we realsised it was missing and not mislaid ,i called tmobile and they said the phone had been used at 3:15.
sadly was unable to get it back as the guy looking around the house, had said he wished to bring relatives too,but tunred out he was buying to let and the people with him were, tenants
we did not get it back but i will even things out one way or another,it was only a cheap back up phone but you dont come in my home steal and think thats the end of the matter
XDA II - Himalaya was stolen
Well, I wont call it lost. It was stolen in the restaurant (more like a canteen) of my last place of work. I went in, had my breakfast, left the XDA II on the table whilst eating, got up after the meal, made for the lift up to my floor, remembered my error (as it felt like an 'arm' was missen), rode the lift back down straight to the restaurant, and no one had seen anything.
Before you say - yes I took it there as I received a call on my way to the restaurant about some deadline....

That guy's story does not have a ring of truth in it for me. Desirable things these phones.
I dropped my Nokia 9110 out of a shirt pocket when looking over a stairwell... it died a quick death! I left it, half-functional and SIM removed, on a bin in IKEA car park...
I'd just got a 9210, so I didn't mind so much.
I lost 2
Nokia 9210i
Motorola RAZR

Black Display while Filming possible?

Hi guys,
i really miss this feature to record videos undercover. And Today i found out i really need that in a robbery case. I got robbed 2 month ago. So i got to get a new note 3. It turns out that the guy lives right next to me. He will go into jail for at least 3 years without of probation if he's well known. And it seem like he is. He has to step back 500m from me. If i am lead into his way he has to turn and avoid contacting me....
Today he didn't i did not wanted to fight. so i kept my technology in my pockets and did not record this...He knows the gear and he would flip seeing me recording...but it was ideal he was walking behind me trying to provocate me...I was wearing heaphones, i knew it bit i couldn'T understood what he said. But he tried to push me over the edge. I laughed and walked home smiling...with a barking dog behind my ass..
So you guys think that is possible that someone of you guys could accomplish that? Ofcourse not the only case were it would be quite nice to record something...
thank you in advance for your opinions
cheers
Yes, this would be a great feature. I'm thinking it would be great to catch police brutality without them destroying your camera.
If the FBI is recording from our cameras without us knowing (and sharing it with local police), then we should be able to record them too, right?
I would assume rooting , rom, and trying a spy app ?....
I want this for mountain biking. Id be able to strap watch to handlebars and record longer than short clips without worrying about draining the battery.

Charging Pins causing rash on wrist?

I purchased the Gear Live for my wife last month. Just last week she was traveling for work and sent me this picture of her wrist. The watch had given her a rash or skin irritation, possibly from the charging pins. I purchased a Gwatch a week after I got her Gear Live, and I don't wear it as often (usually just weekends). I know there was recently an update for the Gwatch to turn current off in the charging pins. I am wondering if the Gear Live may have the same issue that needs to be addressed? Has anyone else experienced this? Or should I contact Google/Samsung about a possible defective unit?
Thanks.
Supposedly we got the same update. Hardly seen anything related to gear live, but that's not to say it wouldn't happen

I too am getting some sort of rash on my wrist from my Gear Live. It didn't occur right away. I wore the watch for almost a week before it got really itchy. I don't think it's the electrical contacts but it might be. Or possibly the rubber in the band. Has anyone else had anything like this? What did you end up doing?

Had Google replace it. Second one did the same thing. Just sent it back for a refund. Maybe an allergic reaction to the material?

It may have been the material in the band. I've changed the band and my skin hasn't been itchy in over a week.

Tough to be a copper allergy when the contacts are ENIG ( gold plated).
I got a Gear 2 Neo and I'm also getting a rash from the battery terminals.
I had a Gear 1 and never had a problem with that, its only started recently and I've only had the Gear 2 for about 6 weeks.
Could be the heat making me sweat and thats causing the rash with the battery terminals. Or it might be me just not noticing it till now as I'm always wearing it.
Would making the back thicker fix it? I'm thinking of a few layers of tape so the battery terminals are not actually touching the skin. That shouldn't get in the way of the charger but keep it off the skin. Another idea is to just cover the terminals with sticky tape and take it off while charging. Annoying but if it'll stop the rash it might be the way to go.
Samsung Gear S rash

I received a full refund of my original retail price 0f $349 in a check from Samsung.
If you are seeking a similar result, you need to be persistent and check in with them on a weekly basis. The following person was my contact for the process:
Jennifer Olivarez <[email protected]> wrote:
My contact number is 469-241-4839, and the Tech Support number is 888-987-4357.
3/19/15:
The update as of today is that I alerted T-mobile to the issue described below. Because I was out of the 14 day trial period, they referred me to Samsung.
I called in and was eventually transferred to what sounded like a girl/young lady named Jennifer Olivarez out of Texas.
After hearing my story, including telling her that I was too concerned about the effect of the watch on my wrist that I would never wear it again, she requested that I send an email describing what happened with pictures if available, and that she would send an overnight box to me to send back the watch in addressed to that office in Texas.
At that time, She said they would have their engineers evaluate the watch and then she would send me a refund for the watch in about 2 weeks.
Of course, I was happy to hear this and Ms. Olivarez then sent me an email with her contact info email and direct line.
I sent the watch on Tuesday, 3/10 and it got there the next day 3/11/15 as confirmed by UPS.
I did not get any word for a week and I decided to call in yesterday. Nobody answered her number. And from what I can see, nobody has seen any of my follow-up emails either.
I called ms. olivarez again today and she did not answer once again. BTW, the voicemail is generic and says nothing about who's phone number it is.
Later today, I decided to call into the Samsung general number. Although they confirmed that they had a record of the incident on file, all I got was the runaround from the other Samsung operators regarding the status of the watch.
After several phone messages and emails to Ms. Olivarez, I still have not gotten any confirmation that anything is being done to get me a refund.
My next move is to call T-Mobile again and find out if they can help me find out if Samsung is being on the level or what.
I'll send an update as I get them.
Hope this helps.

Current status of my rash incident with the Gear S smartwatch:
The first indication of serious trouble was while I was on a call yesterday when I got a burning sensation on my wrist and a buzz sensation which was different than the vibration alert. The sound was more like a sizzling sound than a buzz.
I looked at the watch and there was a warning message that the watch was overheating and that I should take it off and let it cool then the watch cut the call off.
I do know how long the warning was there because I was the call on the watch when it happened.
Immediately, I noticed redness on my skin where the watch sat.
Shortly thereafter, I began to notice an itching sensation. As I scratched the area, I began to feel a rash like symptoms which soon turned into a burning sensation almost like it was blistering.
I put cortisone on the area which reduced the redness. However, the burning remains at this time approximately 18 hours later.
I have reached out to professional guidance on what my recourse is and I am considering going to a doctor to have it examined.
I have attached the pictures.
The following issues have made it frustrating to use and prevented me from wearing the watch 100% of the time:
I have had my Gear S from T-mobile about 30 days ago. I have been wearing it about 80% of the time since.
While navigating through the options and screens, the watch would freeze up at times and I would need to use the button to get out of what I was doing and return to the homescreen before returning back to the menu protocol.
On several occasions I would get messages that the watch was overheating.
S-voice would only work intermittently and speech commands within calling and such were either not there or if they were, they were not very responsive.
The heart rate function would not work intermittently.
I could not find a distance traveled option.
According to T-Mobile, their mobile network is faster than my wi-fi, which took me a while to find out.
The swipe functionality would sometimes think I was going sideways when I wanted to go down.
The swipe functionality would have trouble working when my hands were sweaty. I would prefer a back button to swiping.
T-mobile salesperson originally told me I need the Kies software to transfer from my pc to my phone. However, when I spoke with customer support on the phone, they said I did Not need the kies app and that I could get everything i needed directly from my smart phone.
The t-mobile salesperson told me the Gear S would work with the LG phone he sold me...Which it does not (Only works with samsung android phone 4.3 and higher.)
The sleep function requires that I manually turn it on and manually turn it off, as opposed to my lifetrack which automatically detected my sleep patterns.
The operating system is not android therefore limiting the Google App sync and interfacing which I use almost exclusively to control all activity on all my devices without having to transfer data to another OS.
Background of my decision process to purchase a smartwatch:
FYI, I previously had a lifetrack watch that I absolutely Loved because of the carefree usage, accuracy and ability to function without fail in my workout conditions over approximately a 6 month period.
When I got a new t-mobile contract about 30 days ago, I decided to try the Gear S so that I could expand upon my smartwatch usage beyond the fitness capabilities and into possibly replacing my phone and bluetooth headset during times when I was away from my desk and remote exercise activity.
I like the phone functionality and the quality of the screen and microphone for calls.
However, after several attempts to use the watch during my workout regimen, the size and potential damage to the expensive watch made it uncomfortable and distracting to my activities.
Consequently about 3 days ago, I stopped using it during workouts and solely for around my home office to take calls when I am away from my desk.
It may be that (pure speculation here) moisture on your arm is causing a slight discharge back through the pins and causing issues. If it is a slight raised, kind of burning itch that doesn't spread it could very well be just that. Either that or samsung changed the metal type it uses in the pins. Are you allergic to nickel? I've had problems with cheap piercing jewelry that is coated in nickel personally.
I remember I used to have a rash from the watch, but then I just stopped having a rash. Perhaps its because I used to tighten wristband too tight.
Samsung Gear Live wrist burn... radiation or contact?
So about 3 weeks ago, I noticed a non-itchy rash on my wrist starting to develop (1st picture). I thought it was just a sweat rash or contact dermatitis, but it continued to get worse (other pictures). I'm a Nurse and I've worn the watch about 14 hours a day for almost a year and two months. A doctor on my unit advised me to stop wearing it and it should go away. About a week later, it was worse.
I now have pain in my wrist that goes down to my fingertips. When I press on my wrist, pain shoots up to my elbow. I just got out , of my doctor's appointment and he ordered xrays of my wrist, a dermatologist consult, some steroid cream, and some zofran for the nausea that has developed. I posted a photo on Twitter to see if anyone had the same issue and Samsung got a hold of me within 20 minutes, which is worrisome. They asked me to send the watch back for evaluation by their engineers. I kind of want to get it evaluated independently first before it goes back and disappears forever; however, I don't know where I could find someone with a Geiger counter for radiation emissions. I did some research and apparently the radiation levels of wearable devices are 100 - 1000 times higher than that of a cellphone, which they advise to not even hold close to your face.... What kind of damage is a wearable that's in contact with the body constantly doing? If anyone has the same issue, please let me know! I'll update as I find out more.

Warning for New comers...!

hi. i have had my eyes on this tab S 8.4 LTE since it was announced. i have been saving a lot so as to get this tablet.
the day i got all the money for this tablet saved, i went to the Samsung store and bought the device right. hell, i even paid extra for the Bronze color one.
i felt blessed and happy. after like half an hour of using the tablet, i found the stutter and lag to be all over the UI. it was not deal breaker but definitely was Heart breaker. for a premium one of a kind, Samsung Flagship tablet, i didnt expect that. i have owned Note 3 and both have EXACTLY the same hardware other than the screen.
but i got over that and accepted that as part of deal from samsung cause after all it had Touchwiz. i personally love touchwiz. i really do.
after like a week of usage, i started to feel like the battery on this tab is giving up on me. i tried every thing there was to try. i rooted it, removed the bloatware, installed greenify, swapped roms, minimized brightness and all i was advised by good folks here on this very good community of xda.
then i was told that many people here found the solution by re-sitting the battery connector on the mother board. and i tried that. i removed the back cover, with all the pain and cringing, and REALLY found the plug to be very loose. looked like some child had it just PLACED it on its place. it was not even all the way down. i did that, and boom, i got the battery back to normal, i un-noticed all the scars and scratches there were because of removing the back cover.
after like 4 or 5 days same **** started happening. battery would fail after like 3 hours of screen time and that also doing nothing just plain UI browsing, because my tab was in the period of showing it to friends and relatives. u know the usual stuff. people asking u to let them see your new tab. every body praised and loved the SUPER AMOLED!
after like some time, it literally gave up on me. it would not boot, it would power on. it would charge and that also very weirdly, when i plug it it sometimes said, 50% battery, then at the next second i remove the charger and re-connect it and it would show, 89% battery. the next second i would remove and re-connect the charger and it would say 4% battery.
i could not do anything. so i went to samsung OFFICIALL sales & repair centre and I LITERALLY MADE THAT STUPID ***** WRITE DOWN ON THE JOB SHEET TO NOT LOSE THE IR BLASTER COVER THINGY. they gave me 15 days of time for to repair it and asked for Rs 5000 which is equivalent to US $ 55 approx. i was like, ok if u fix it all well i can pay that. and FYI, the TABLET WAS IN FREAKING WARRANTY! IT WAS ONLY 20 DAYS OLD!
you get where im going? well i called them 15th day and they didnt pick my phone. i tried for next 2 days and they didnt pick any call. i went to their office and asked them what happened of the tablet. they said sorry we could not fix it and we were told this by our ENGINEERS the second day. i was like why didnt u tell me that before why make me wait 15 days and they said our phone was dead... MOTHER****ERS!
i asked them to return my tablet, they charged me Rs 1000 approx US $10 BEFORE returning me the tablet.
when they returned me the tablet, it had that IR blaster cover lost. i was so angry i cant explain. i could not do anything against them i went there 3 times and waited for like 30 min each time JUST TO SEE THE MANAGER AND HE NEVER MET... i wish they all die in deepest pits of hell for eternity. amin.
anyways, firstly i didnt trust the local small repair shops but i had no choice i gave the tab to one of shops and he repaird it for me in like 1 day. i was really happy. but he charged me Rs 3000 about US $30.
i started using the tab and it was fine. i got the normal 6-7 hours of screen on time. and btw, he didnt replace any thing including the batter.
since this saturday, the same **** started happening AGAIN. i went to the same shop and gave him the tablet to repair. just today he called me and told me the expense for this time repair would be Rs 5500 approx US $55.
NOW, this is my experience with samsung's greatest tablet ever. i have learnt my lesson the hard way i guess. Spending US $40 or $60 might not be a big deal for some of you Europeans or Americans out there but im from Pakistan. im a student. i dont get money very often to repair my ****. and that also a mere 28 days old BRAND NEW OUT OF THE ****ING BOX TABLET.
i know, i might get hate here as well, cause not many these days, understand others problems.
but i would advise you all new comers NOT TO GET THIS TABLET EVEN IF U ARE GETTING IT VIA SALE. i paid the full price and even more cause of import fees and taxes.
and btw, its not just me, there are many people who didnt get the battery life they were told they would get.
you have been warned.
Why didn't you get a replacement by warranty? Didn't get that.

HAHA... replacement? there is no such thing as replacement here mate! they only talk to the customers until they pay them and thats it. after that they dont have any time for you. as i have already said, they were not even ready to return me my device which they had ****ed up by losing the IR blaster cover. they said first i need to pay then they will return my tab. its been one of the ****ed up experiences of my life.
and to top things off, no one is there to complain. no executives, no senior person, no managers NOTHING! only sales girls with fake smiles and little cleavages. u see, women here, especially women who work in such sales department, like all over the world are used very wrongly. and in our country you can not even look at a woman with anger, let alone talk to them about the **** they did wrong to my tablet.
its very very saddening situation here man, very very saddening! people who have resources get everything and students like myself or people who have not much relations are the victims. i know if i were in any other country i could have sued their asses off. but here NO.
and its the device its self thats the problem. u see if samsung cuts its product lines even 25%, and works more on QC and software, things like thing would never happen.
all the hype around S6 and i bet you, it will all be the same. I bet you it will still lag, it will have almost the same issues as previous phones. yes there will be changes, but merely cosmetic!

Unfortunately, most of the stores in some countries are only third party/franchisee, so they don't offer the same wonderful customer service you may be accustomed to. They don't readily provide brand new unit replacements, heck, we usually even have to fight for parts replacement and settle at that (better than nothing, I guess).
From where I'm from, we're usually told, "we will have to have our technician take a look at it. Please come back after 5-7 business days." When we come back, they tell us that they were unable to elicit the problem, and if we want, they can have it sent to their main branch (in a different city) to take a look at it. Of course, they still end up telling you that there's nothing wrong with it and charge you anyway.
---------- Post added at 02:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:24 PM ----------
Thank you for this post. I actually considered getting the Tab S2 when it comes out. Your post reminded me of my past experience with a Galaxy Tab 8.9 and an S3 (tablet had a defective motherboard and I could only get the parts replaced, no new unit) and my Galaxy S3 wouldn't connect to a WiFi network unless I literally stood right next to the router (this one I actually did manage to get a replacement unit, but the trouble I had to go through..ugh).
Anyway, I'm so sorry for the trouble you had to go through.
Sorry but just because you had an bad experience it doesn't mean that others should be scared off. I bought my tab 's 8.4 on sale and I use it at least 4-5 hours per day without any lag at all and with around 35% battery left every day. I think you could just have said that you had a bad experience instead of telling everybody in bolded text that they shouldn't get it.
Except I have WiFi version. So if this is a common problem on the late version then I have nothing to say.

I agree - I have the 10.5 and yes it suffers from slight lag but theres ways around that (Nova/debloating etc).
My note 4 is the boss and not issues at all now i'm on 5.0.1. You can't really slat a manufacturer entirely if the country you reside in doesn't have the support required - you took that risk on.
As for the technical problems you are having, I guess taking apart a device that was under a month old kind of invalidates any warranty - if you didn't have one I suspect all you've done is cause problems for the engineers. Did you contact the sellers/retailer? Have you contacted samsung to see who they'd recommend/are there others that may be able to sort it out?
However if you cannot get Samsung repair service in your area, why didn't you consider a make that can be supported locally?
I imported a gear VR from the US to UK and if it went wrong I'd wholly expect Samsung not to honour the warranty....sometimes we take risks and it doesn't work out!
Well no doubt you had a nightmare experience and sorry that you didn't have my experience. For me I couldn't be happier and have zero regrets with my purchase. Other then the lag problem which was fixed by debloating and switching to nova launcher I really really really love my tab s and so glad I didn't get the iPad mini like I was planning.
Now I eagerly await the lollipop update.
Sucks that you can't get proper service. Sorry to hear that but a lot of us can get proper service so I don't think its right for you to tell people to stay away. If someone gets unlucky here where I am they can easily return it and get a new one. For me I was first disappointed by the battery life but have quickly realized maybe I was spoiled by the 10+ hours my ipad 3 got. I don't experience any lag and have mostly good things to say about the device. I do wish the battery would go a bit longer. My only complaint comes with the power button. After only a few weeks its not looking good. Its going to go at some point. It already looks like its pushed in.
I have a 10 as well, and I have had zero issues with it. I have read some other complaint threads, but I haven't had any issues at all with mine. Sucks to hear others have issues, but this is the finest tablet I have ever owned.

I bought my tab 's 8.4 on sale and I use it at least 4-5 hours per day without any lag at all and with around 35% battery left every day. I think you could just have said that you had a bad experience instead of telling everybody in bolded text that they shouldn't get it.
Except I have WiFi version. So if this is a common problem on the late version then I have nothing to say.

both of you are very right at your position. i might have also said the same things if i saw some thread like this and i had no trouble with my tablet.
but the thing is, samsung has Proper sales and service business here in my country. u would not even believe that some of the products are not even launched in some big countries but they are made available here. Note 4 was launched here 2 days before its international launch! same case with some other big tabs and smartphones.
removing the back cover does not void ANY kind of warranty. i snapped it back and no body could tell if i ever removed it. i dont have the tab with me, but when i will i will try to show you guys what the OFFICIAL samsung ENGINEERS did to it. i opened the back with a debit card and nails and they have proper equipment, i guess, but they ruined it for me. and how come they lose some part of the tab when i CLEARLY TOLD THEM & EVEN ROTE IT TO THEM NOT TO LOSE IT because its too small thing to lose.
any how, all of you guys who have no trouble with your tabs, great for you. i feel good for you. i would have called it my bad luck if it was my first experience with samsung device. i have had sasmsung devices for a very long time including even some of the house hold electronics. mobile division of samsung sucks balls in terms of QC.i remember having S2 having dead speaker after 2 months, S3 having strange glue marks on the AMOLED screen, S4 having heat up issues and now this.
@ Pills_e and i didn't write text in bold or what ever to seek attention. why didnt you write such a thread? because you didnt have a problem right? i just tried to warn people. i have said it already and would say it again, im a student. i dont have a full time job. its Very hard for me to spend US $40 or $60 after 10 days just like that on repairing a gadget that is not even available to me. it might be easy for you, but not for all.
i just advised based on my experience and its just sincere brotherly advise to all new comers. people will get what they like, no matter what. i just poured in my experience. thats it.

hi. i have had my eyes on this tab S 8.4 LTE since it was announced. i have been saving a lot so as to get this tablet.
the day i got all the money for this tablet saved, i went to the Samsung store and bought the device right. hell, i even paid extra for the Bronze color one.
i felt blessed and happy. after like half an hour of using the tablet, i found the stutter and lag to be all over the UI. it was not deal breaker but definitely was Heart breaker. for a premium one of a kind, Samsung Flagship tablet, i didnt expect that. i have owned Note 3 and both have EXACTLY the same hardware other than the screen.
but i got over that and accepted that as part of deal from samsung cause after all it had Touchwiz. i personally love touchwiz. i really do.
after like a week of usage, i started to feel like the battery on this tab is giving up on me. i tried every thing there was to try. i rooted it, removed the bloatware, installed greenify, swapped roms, minimized brightness and all i was advised by good folks here on this very good community of xda.
then i was told that many people here found the solution by re-sitting the battery connector on the mother board. and i tried that. i removed the back cover, with all the pain and cringing, and REALLY found the plug to be very loose. looked like some child had it just PLACED it on its place. it was not even all the way down. i did that, and boom, i got the battery back to normal, i un-noticed all the scars and scratches there were because of removing the back cover.
after like 4 or 5 days same **** started happening. battery would fail after like 3 hours of screen time and that also doing nothing just plain UI browsing, because my tab was in the period of showing it to friends and relatives. u know the usual stuff. people asking u to let them see your new tab. every body praised and loved the SUPER AMOLED!
after like some time, it literally gave up on me. it would not boot, it would power on. it would charge and that also very weirdly, when i plug it it sometimes said, 50% battery, then at the next second i remove the charger and re-connect it and it would show, 89% battery. the next second i would remove and re-connect the charger and it would say 4% battery.
i could not do anything. so i went to samsung OFFICIALL sales & repair centre and I LITERALLY MADE THAT STUPID ***** WRITE DOWN ON THE JOB SHEET TO NOT LOSE THE IR BLASTER COVER THINGY. they gave me 15 days of time for to repair it and asked for Rs 5000 which is equivalent to US $ 55 approx. i was like, ok if u fix it all well i can pay that. and FYI, the TABLET WAS IN FREAKING WARRANTY!

I'm so sorry for you. I hate that you've been through all of this stuff regarding samsung devices. I wonder if the tabs going to Pakistan are made in a different factory than United States ones? I hope you have better luck in the future.
Sent from my Galaxy Tab S 8.4 with much love to the xda community.
I have the 10.5 and am on a stock rom and have zero lag anywhere. Initially there was lag with the OS it was released with (I bought it release day) but subsequent updates removed all the lag I had. I love my Tab S and I get 11hrs watching videos on it on long flights and drives and the screen is amazing.
What you should have done was try to return the tablet for a replacement INSTEAD of opening the back. Opening the back voided your warranty and is not something I EVER do for ANY device I own that's within warranty period. Outside of the period I may take the chance but not a day before.
Sorry to hear this happened to you as I know how frustrating these kinds of things can be.
I'm Surprised!
I'm surprised that Samsung would even touch your Tab S 8.4! After you rooted it, changed the ROM and then opened the device up which a user is never supposed to do, I'm surprised your warranty is worth the paper it was written on.
You should have taken the Tab S back to whomever you bought it and got your money back.
Hmmmm... was just about to order a tab S 8.4 WiFi as well... Lol.
i have 10.5 LTE and the battery stand only 3.5 Hours after few month of purchase its stand around 6 hours before
i have already make root so i got KNOX flag 01
but i will pay 50$ if this will fix the problem but after i read your story im afraid to fix it and the problem come again .. i don't know what to do

Fixable? Sell for Parts? Galaxy Note 8 (AT&T)

I've had this phone since just a few months after it first came out. As you can see from the pictures in the link at the bottom, that's a problem. Funny thing is, it was like that for several months, never bothered me really because I always had my case on, it also didn't seem to affect anything.
So, a couple days ago, thinking because of its age and everything, I got fed up with the somewhat laggy behavior and battery draining issues. So I researched for a couple hours or so and contemplated getting the Galxy Note 10+. Well, after a while I stopped looking into it, I figured I could wait a little bit longer, but just as I set the idea aside, my note 8 started acting up. Battery started draining unusually quick (or appeared to) and also randomly got inaccurate readings for available battery life, screen started to turn off, seemed to be random, and only way to get it back on would be to plug it into a charger and do a forced restart. But, for the most part, the phone works, you could go several minutes to a couple hours without issue.
Since I couldn't trust this thing anymore, I went to the AT&T store for my note 10+, was hoping to get a decent trade in credit, but the rep helping me told me this is something that happens when the battery ends up expanding?, she asked another rep to see if it's acceptable, told me they'd give me like $36 for it, I said forget it and kept it.
Anyone know if all it really would be is the battery? Am I better off selling it for Parts? Or is it possibly a not so hard fix with replacement parts?
