Redmi Note 7 Benchmarks MIUI 10 vs 11 vs 12 [UPDATE] vs 12.5 (21.3.3)

Hello guys!
I tested all of the main MIUI releases on my Note 7 with Antutu v8.5.3 and Geekbench 4.4.0 (the v5 was not compatible with MIUI 10).
No third-party app was installed during the tests.

I installed the xiaomi.eu weekly update on my Redmi Note 7 and I have tested it with Antutu v8.5.6 and Geekbench 4.4.0. The actual version was 21.3.3.

I installed the MIUI 12.5.1 Global rom n my Redmi Note 7, and uploaded the test results.
Note that these kind of test shows just the performance at the overload, but not the everyday use performance, which can be better. I noticed, that my phone works a bit more fluently in everyday use, than with MIUI 12.

MIUI 11.0.8.0.PFGEUXM with Android 9.0 Pie

Such a big difference between MIUI 10 and 11 on Android 9! But good to see that performance has been sustained over time, i.e. the first and the current version are comparable. In the two years that I've been using this phone, new MIUI versions did consistenly bring improvements and new features. But it seems to me that after the introduction of Android 10 for this phone, Xiaomi switched focus to other phones so this one is getting more buggy with each MIUI release.
Personally, there are only a few things that bother me:
1) an old bug that exists ever since dark mode was brought in - when you schedule dark mode on/off times, the phone does not switch the launcher to the other mode at the exact time when you scheduled it if the phone is locked. So say, if I scheduled dark mode for 6pm and I only unlocked the phone at 7pm, it will switch to dark mode at that moment. Which means that the interface will switch quickly (the notification shade and quick toggles), but the launcher takes a while to reload in the other mode (I'm using Poco Launcher, but I've tested it once with MIUI launcher and it was no better. Should try again with a new version of MIUI launcher).
2) Proximity sensor - after a longer call, I sometimes have to use the lock button to get the screen to work so I can end the call.
3) When taking screenshots in dark mode, the screenshots have this dark tint that is a leftover from the dark mode function which darkens your wallpaper.
4) Double tap to wake function - after not using the phone for a while, it seems to go into a deeper sleep state or just disables this double tap to wake capability. Then you have to use the lock button to wake it.
This might not be the correct topic for this reply, but this is what came to mind when comparing this phone's performance along its lifetime. Also, this part of the forum has gone a bit dead, so no one will mind a bit of disorder.

@Quaresma_7 I have been quite happy with this phone until android 10 came along, feel like battery is draining A LOT quicker than before... Am considering installing lineageOS to see if it's better, I don't use that many extra features...

I don"t think that we will get Android 11 - the Note 8 users have more luck - but I will do the test on MIUI 12.5 as soon, as I get the update notification

Yeah... I have problem with the double click close option. Idk why. I use the Classic theme, I tried with the otherone too, but still nothing.

Don't Xiaomi phones usually only go up one Android version and then get MIUI updates for quite a while? But only one Android version upgrade.

In Built Screen Recorder NUBIA Red Magic 3

Dear Members,
Is there any way to remove SHOW TOUCHES option in IN-BUILT Screen Recorder app in RM3..?
Red Magic Time records 3-4 games only including PUBG, but how to record COD mobile.. although inbuilt screen recorder app supports 720p with internal sound... But that touch points it shows are very irritating.. You can see that in attached file circled in black.. can anyone help me out in this?

I think you can disable it in /data/data/cn.nubia.supersnap/shared_prefs/cn.nubia.supersnap_preferences.xml
I'm not sure if it works tho.
If it doesn't work check out "Screen Recorder", it allows recording at FullHD and Support internal Audio Recording if you install the Magisk Module.

He can pull up supersnap settings through the activity shortcut as well then, the method is the same the door is differemt, but he must pull up supersnap settings or use a different recorder

Simply follow updated instructions for A9 in my last post. Or upgrade off A9, Nubia abuses strandhogg on A9. PURPOSEFULLY ENDING SUPPORT THE MONTH BEFORE STRANDHOGG IS PATCHED.

Nice thread.. but i am unable to root my device as well. To root rm3, i have to port chinese rom first, and that's too not working for me, tried multiple times, and evertime it says DEVICE CAN'T BE TRUSTED and it doesn't boot then, it would be appreciated if you can guide me how can i port chinese rom in my device. I am on android 9 v1.21, indian variant..
And 1 more thing i would like to know here, does android 10 in built screen recorder record at 1080p? Because in android 9 it can record upto 720 p only..

why remove, if you do this, perhaps the phone is bricked

if you leave the checkbox in miflash it will be on restart on the miui recovery and not on the rom. you will then have to unlock it again

Not possible for now.

Installed it last night. It's surprisingly stable. Not working, as far as I already was able to see:
- fingerprint
- faceunlock
- setting 120hz
- setting 1440p
- display not adjusted to rounded corners, time and battery not fully visible
- speech quality during calls is bad. My opponent didn't understand me.
So flashing back MIUI 12.5

I am unable to go back to 12.5. I am getting mismatch error in mi flash tool. can you help please?

I had the same problems, too. I used the .eu weekly ROM with that fastboot batch.

Oh no! I used the fastboot method. The mi flash tool said it was successful.
But my phone gave an error message
"System has been destroyed. press power to shut down"
Unfortunately i forgot to stop the phone from locking before flashing .
My phone is now ruined, because it is locked and nothing can be flashed.
i have even tried miflash unlock.
it refuses to unlock my phone.
Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

I can add:
No 5G;
No fast charging ( although it says fast charging);
WhatsApp: sound problems (can not record audio messages) and sometimes camera crashes.
But i have to say that the Overall rom is very stable and the battery lasts much longer.
Maybe with beta 2 all this problems can be fixed.

It's my daily rom. I love it so i will keep it. One thing that made me keep this rom is the fact that the battery lasts longer. But the main reason is that finally i managed to use vowifi (wifi calling). With other roms like oficial stable, xiaomi.eu stable or weekly did not get vowifi working!
Besides all the issues i use this rom daily.
It can be rooted with the same way like android 11.

If possible: Can you add "change clock position on lockscreen" and "wake up screen when hold up phone"

I think it's a kernel problem.

When I play multimedia or web streaming videos in 120 Hz refresh rate, then it leads to heating issues. That's why battery is draining on Redmi Note 10 Pro (india) . Otherwise your both ROMs are best(s).

That change clock position on LockScreen depends upon the source developer , the device maintainer can't modify the source according to his own.

Hi, I just flashed this rom on my Redmi note 10 pro max and mostly everything is working fine.
Only thing I've found not working is the HDR10. It says HDR10 supported but no HDR content triggers the HDR neither on UI. Pls look after this. If I'm the one having this problem then should I flash this same ROM again?

is the Camera working fine without Root. ??

Is it only for sweet devices or it'll work with sweetin??? Currently running on MIUI 12.5.8.0 RKFINXM.

upper trigger doesn't work for me either.
Also when i try to change music output from BT AD2P to internal speaker launcher crash occurs

Your bootloader should be unlocked
Installation via FASTBOOT (No TWRP version yet)
This will ERASE ALL YOUR DATA - do a BACKUP first!
May brick your device if you don't know what you are doing
II. DOWNLOADS & INSTALLATION
Download the ROM first:

Unpack downloaded zip file in the PC

After reboot it is done (first boot may take up to 15min)

Yes. Just patch the boot.img via magisk that you can find inside the zip file and flash it via fastboot.

For the people who cant get it to boot/flash use this one to fix
I used windows to flash got error boot_ab not found etc etc
or replace all the _ab with nothing that will work!

Unofficial ROM from xiaomi.eu is a hybrind. It uses China ROM as basic (latest and with more features), remove bloatware, change language, add google and some nice extra, but keep the miui style and there it is.

There is no China rom for 11T Pro. That's why the rom from xiaomi.eu is based on Global rom RKD(MI)XM.

Anyone tried playing genshin impact ? Can it run fine on 60 fps? Because in original MIUI rom, genshin impact limited only to run at 40 fps
Also on benchmark apps like antutu and geekbench, can it achieve a "normal" score like other snapdragon 888 phone? In geekbench for example, a "normal" snapdragon 888 without being limited or throttled, cpu single core should exceed 1000 point
Please kindly test it for anyone already using this new miui.eu rom, thanks

Don't think CPU throttle is the problem here, I reached 1115 single core and 3340 multicore even with the latest global rom, my guess is the GPU that is being limited to avoid heat issue.

Oh really? Im on ID (indonesian) ROM, and i never get +1000 point even with cooler attached on geekbench 5, and games like genshin impact is limited to only 40 FPS max, no matter what i do, like putting the phone on refrigerator , turning on performance mode, game turbo set to max every settings, its still limited to 40 FPS max, so i guess xiaomi has some list of apps that they will limit the FPS to avoid overheating issue,,
Can i ask you to play genshin impact and check the FPS ? Does the latest MI (Global) ROM let loose the device performance, meaning there is no limitation on every app? Thanks

So I'm waiting for the unlock counter to go down and figure I want to install this as my first "custom" rom.
However, is it really worth it now that MIUI 13 is around the corner?

I have the same dilemma. I like xiaomi.eu roms, but probably I'll wait for MIUI 13 to do a clean installation, not update from MIUI 12. I will lose my data once, not twice. It's always better to do clean installation when you go to newer Android or newer MIUI.

I've tried the Xiaomi.eu ROM, not much difference to the EEA ROM that I could tell, as its based on the Global ROM and the EEA is based on the Global ROM any OS bugs or performance issues are going to be the same between them all.
