Notification tone and ringtone - Huawei P30 Pro Questions & Answers

Hello, everyone. I want to separate the notification sound from the ringtone. How can I? Which app should I use? Or how do I do it with the adb command?

I may be missing something here... but if I've understood correctly this is standard in the system. Settings > Sounds & vibration > Phone ringtone or Notification ringtone (set them as required)

Ringtone and notification sound work together on Huawei phones. There's got to be a way to separate this. It bothers me.

If you want to add your own message alert tones then add the sound you want in a wav format to the Windows folder on your device, then go to change the alert tone as usual and it should come up in the drop-down list

Volume Control

Hello,
Is there any way to adjust different volumes separately ?
for example the ring volume , notification and system are all adjusted at once. even if i have apps that can adjust them separately they don't work.
I want my system and notifications to be lower and my ringer max.
Any suggestions ?

This is possible in settings. Only are Ringtones and Notification together. Also you could try out this application: Volume Control
Tried it and a couple others ... doesn't work.
Am i the only one that has this problem ?
On my previous X10 on 2.3 i could adjust them separately ...
I'll give it a shot.. Give me a sec
Edit: Not working indeed. Probaly because ringtone and notfication are together and controlled by 1 volume
So no solution ?
I checked other phones ( samsung / htc ) and they have the volumes separately ... so it works.
The question is how do we make it work on our SP ?
It is strange yes, since a coworker of mine can change the volume of notifications aswell and keep the ringtone volume at the same..
I believe you need to try some apps since it is not possible.

Custom Notification Sound, But Default Sound Also Triggers?!

Hi everyone,
In my apps such as Whatsapp,Gmail and Messages, I set up Notification Sound within the app to a custom sound that I have. However, when I receive a message, both the default notification sound (the one I set up in Settings > Sounds) still triggers as well as my custom notification sound. This completely defeats the purpose of setting up custom sounds.
Is there a way to turn off the stock notification sound when I set a custom notification sound in my apps?

That would defeat the purpose of giving different apps different notification sounds ...
Does anyone else have this issue and know a solution?

Apparently you are the only one.
What I meant by my previous post was to set your default sound to the same sound as your custom sound. That way when it does sound you will only hear your custom sound. Also make sure your custom sound is actually a compatible sound meaning an mp3.

Ok say I set my default sound to the same as my custom sound.
If I wanted a different notification sound for WhatsApp and Viber, how do I achieve that?

Those apps should have their own internal notification sounds that would override system sounds and play their sound independent of the system. Make sure you do not have AT&T messenger active or set as default. It brings all your messages into one location from all sources and as a result also combines all sounds to the same.

Access your sound volumes*, and turn Touch Feedback & System to off (no volume).
*(Settings App > Sound > Volumes or Volume Key buttons > Gear Button)
I haven't had a problem with it because I've always had my phone on Vibrate or Silent, so it set Notifications and System Sounds to off too.
You're welcome in advanced.
As for getting rid of it completely, I put no effort into, as it doesn't matter to me if it's muted. I wouldn't waste time as to removing it permanently if it's muted through system sounds.

it worked.
thanks !
go to your root folder and access systen-media-audio-bootanimation.0gg (name may not be exactly like that but you shall know!) delete that. reboot to no sound. i know you said you removed it but you sure? make sure that the folder is in r/w mode.

Possible to have vibration on notification ?

It's hard to understand why there is no LED on the Nokia 8, not necessarily a color one like on my trusty Lenovo P2, even a white one would do the trick for notifications...
Anyway I don't like audio on notifications so I was hoping to have the phone vibrate but that doesn't seem possible, am I missing something ? Thanks for any help !
Just turn Notification/Phone ring Volume to 0 should be vibration only

That would also mute phone rings, which I doubt OP wants.
@webvan You can manually turn of notification sounds for each app by long-pressing an app icon and tap: App Info -> App notifications -> Messages -> Sound -> None.
Thanks, yes I'd still like the phone to ring !
Will try the app by app setting.
ok so I tried that method and you can indeed dig into the notifications and when they are set to a high or above importance you can activate "vibrate" and deactivate "sounds". Thanks !

Seems crazy that 10 years into Android development there is no option to only make your phone vibrate when a notification arrives instead of making a sound !

May I ask what apps you are trying to turn off sound notifications? For Instant Messaging apps like Viber, Signal, Telegram, etc. I can easily turn the sound notification OFF and leave the vibration option ON. Some apps don't have those options simply because they don't send and/or display notifications.
It's strange to hear you can't do that. Try exploring all the options around the Notification Settings in each app.
Oops, had edited my message in the meantime! Yes I found that the trick is to set importance of the notification to high or above to get control of the sound+vibration settings. All good now!
