Stuck at sending 'boot.img' for twrp from lineageos - Moto G7 Plus Questions & Answers

I have lineageOS installed but want to flash TWRP and try out something else but I just can't get it to boot TWRP.
Load up my bootloader on the phone then on my PC run a powershell command, do flashboot devices and it shows my phone with fastboot, same when I do ADB devices.
I then run fastboot boot twrp.img which then says sending 'boot.img' (28468 KB) but nothing happens other than a flashing cursor.
Tried re-installing motorola drivers, switching out USB cables, going from a Type-C to C cable on my desktop to a standard USB port and nothing helps.
*EDIT*
Turns out my desktop PC just wouldn't work and I had to dig out my laptop but managed to get it to send TWRP over on that.

Stuck at fastboot after flashify fail

Tried to update the Kindle 7" Tate to MM tonight.
Flashed the ROM no problem but when it came to GAPPs philz recovery was blocking it for some reason.
No problem i thought i'll downgrade the ROM and use flashify to flash the TWRP bootloader.
Now i'm stuck on Fastboot splash screen whenever i turn on, tried the quick pull reboot but because i've messed the bootloader that was pretty unhopeful.
Worse problem is that i cant seem to find my fastboot cable.
Ive reinstalled minimal adb and fastboot and ive got the boot img ready to flash but i cant seem to get the device to be recognised with fastboot -i9 0x1949 getvar
Wish i'd just left the stupid device on lollipop now.
Any advice would be gratefully recieved.
p.s. As i hunt for my fastboot cable - am i looking for a cable with a micro usb or mini usb connector on? If im looking at the ports - which connector does it go in? Its soooo long since I first did the kindle.
:crying:
Sent from my SM-G925K using Tapatalk 2
Glad to report that my kindle 7" lives on.
Ordered a new fastboot cable, needed the google usb drivers installed and then simply ADB flashed TWRP recovery.
Now rocking CM13!

D950 no way to flash it plz help!!

I really need help with flashing my d950 with any rom idc which one.
I was on kk but the phone was full of virus when i got it. I flashed twrp 3.1.0 and from there formatted everything being sure that i can connect it somehow afterwards to flash it with stock rom.
Now the phone is stuck on lg logo with flashing led.
I can go to twrp but adb cant connect so i can sideload, otg drives (fat32) are not discovered by the phone.
Then there is download mode in which i can go when the phone is not connected to pc. It stays in download mode but it is not discovered by windows or flash tools or any software. Tried more than one pc and installed drivers and software more than once
When i start download mode with the phone connected to pc then it just resets as soon as it loads.
In windows when it is on lg logo port lge(com 41) shows up and modem lge also shows up. When in recovery or download nothing shows up in windows.
I am completely puzzled by this and hoping someone can help me with this phone
**UPDATE**
After hours of trying i finally fixed it! The solution is difficult and long and not found anywhere in full, but since its an old phone and nobody probably need it i will not post it but if ever anyone ever does plz ask and i will share it. Thx!
how?
How did you get your system to read the phone in dl mode. I cant get it to work!

Are you sure you are in the same situation as i was?
My download mode was not working at all (phone reset when entered downolad mode). I had twrp recovery but usb otg not working nor adb and i could not transfer a rom so i can flash it so I had to short the test point on the motherboard so i could put the phone in qhsusb 9008 mode. This is not easy and its dangerous to kill the phone.
Then you need to download a stock rom and extract aboot, boot, laf, recovery, backupgpt and a few more files with LGFirmwareExtract and flash them one by one with boarddiag application. Then you get normal download mode back and flash any rom you want.
If you tried all the easy solutions like different cables or other pc or different lg drivers and its still not working then you probably need to do the same as me. If you do tell me and i will give you details how i did it. This really is a last resort cause you could easily fry the phone! I've read many people destroyed their phones like this!
not as bad
My problem is that the lg flash tool wont read my phone Ive tried everything and I cant get it to work.
I bought this phone because my other one died and it has jellybean on it. I wat kitkat on it . Thats what Im trying to do.
If you installed the lg drivers you should see an lge android port in device manager. You should go to properties and in advanced change the com port to 41. Unplug the phone and replug it then flash tool will connect to it. Or you could try downloading the rom and use lg up tool or even lg pc suite to update it. Also try the guide from dfuse https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2666763 and use adb to flash the kit kat rom.
I'm new to lg phones so thats as much as i know to do with it! Unfortunately there is not too much info for this phone anywhere. It took me two weeks to figure out what to do and a lot of luck!

hello, which contact points did u short to enter download mode 9008?
i have the same problem as yours. thx.
I'm in a similar situation with my G Flex D950.
It does not boot, remains at the LG logo and seems to loop trying to boot again and again with the green LED flashing.
Pressing POWER+Vol.Down does nothing.
Trying to enter in Download Mode by pressing VolUp while connecting USB, displays the Download Mode screen for less than a second and then enters fastboot mode.
I have a laptop with Win7 and all the drivers and apps correctly installed (already flashed successfully another LG mobile). With the D950 in fastboot mode I run the command fastboot in the laptop and it communicates with the phone but without any useful result as no erase or flash commands executed successfully.
E.g.
>fastboot erase boot
PC reply:
erasing 'boot'...

PHONE reply:
fastboot: getvarartition-type:boot
fastboot: erase:boot
partition_get_size 16777216 bytes
Full Erase partition boot
Error 2: Failure sending erase group start command to the card (RCA:2)
>fastboot flash aboot aboot.img
PC reply:
target reported max download size of 1862270976 bytes
sending 'aboot' (1024 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.043s]
writing 'aboot'...

PHONE reply:

fastboot: download:00100000
fastboot: flash:aboot
partition_get_size 1048576 bytes
Error No.2: Failure sending write command to the Card(RCA:2)
Do you believe that your experience with your phone can help me with this situation?

Recovery bootloop

Guys, here's the problem:
I've clicked reboot to recovery in power menu in Pure Nexus ROM and now I'm stuck in recovery bootloop.
The phone tries to boot into recovery, shows the leeco recovery message and then flashes red triangle android robot and just shows black screen. If I connect to PC at that point, adb recognises a device in recovery mode. But I can't flash anything.
If I try long enough I can boot into fastboot, but then I get the "Android Bootloader Interface" in the device manager - but adb doesn't see the device.
Any suggestions? Can i somehow make ADB see the device so I can reflash TWRP?

Dear
Press and hold vol - and power button together, then your phone will boot into fastboot mode.
then simply you can use fastboot commond below to flash recovery.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
OK I've managed to get my PC to recognize the device. Now fastboot sees the phone.
The thing is that I can't flash anything. I had probably disabled "Allow Oem Unlock" in Developer options.
So I have fastboot but can't flash anything there. Any suggestions? If I reboot without holding Vol- the phone tries to boot into recovery and fails.
EDIT: At this point I can either boot into fastboot, where I can't do: "fastboot oem unlock-go"
Or boot into recovery, which doesn't load properly, all that's left is a blank screen - but ADB sees a device in recovery mode"
Is there anything I can do to get out of those two options?

I want to know which recovery you tried to flash through fastboot. It may not allow you flashing twrp ultill oem is locked. You can try flashing stocking recovery.

Tried that, it tells me that I can't do this because the phone os locked. Now I'm looking for Stock recovery IMG for x522
EDIT: Trying to flash stock recovery gets me this message:

Its the same whether its TWRP image or stock recovery image.
I was thinking of using this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-2/development/tools-unbrick-thread-leeco-le-2-x52x-t3634609
But, unfortunately, there is no file for American x522.
It sucks to be able to get into fastboot and not be able to do anything.
Thanks for the suggestions so far

Try Leeco AIO tool kit to reboot your device into recovery . It's working for me
leco le 2 x520 recovery problem
I have a problem with recovery in le 2 x520. It installs via fastboot by unlocking the bootloader but stops at the Le recovery logo and nothing else happens. I installed from version 3.0.2.0 to 3.1.1.1 and nothing happens, I do not have recovery and writes everything okey went. what is going on ??
I have same problem. how to fix
I have a new one (acutally two, got them for U$D 108.99 each one)
Using ADB devices it recognize the UID like 0123456789ABCDEF, so I think the recovery is corrupted, intentional or not, it is blocking fastboot and recovery to load normally.
At this point I can't do anything.... any suggestions?
You solved it ?
I having the same issue maybe the issue is with stock rom since i flashed in normal twrp, chinese twrp and also that stock recovery.

Some help I stuck on the 'Kindle Fire' logo bootloop (tate x43z80

Dear specialists from XDA:
I'm from Brazil, and I bought a Kindle Fire HD 7 (MODEL x43z80 'tate') with the last original Fire OS, and the Amazon universe don't have a lot of things in Brazil, so I decided to put a Cyanogenmod based on Marshmallow. My guide is the Tekify Channel, and I got it.
But, after a soft reset, because I want to give a gift to my wife, I have the TWRP bootloop issue.
After a 1 week from search in XDA and a lot of English tutorials in youtube, today I have the kindle in stucked in the 'Kindle Fire' logo bootloop.
So, I search here in XDA wha I have to do, and I stucked.
I don't have a fastboot cable, in Brazil Amazon sold just the basic kindle e-reader, and I want the Kindle Fire good again... :crying:
Someone help me? I try ALL the aplications here, like: KFHD unbrick, Kindle Fire 1st Aid, but I1m stucked in the Kindle Fire logo.
I can't access the ADB or Fastboot, because the computer don't recognize the KFHD, and I can't access the TWRP or any screen, I tried a lot of times the command POWER+VOL DOWN, but I return to the 'Kindle Fire' logo.
Thanks for the help.
J.C.
From powered down condition, press power button, then hold POWER-UP, until blue fire logo appears and continue to hold for a couple of seconds, then release. It should go into TWRP. From there, ADB should work. If not, try powering up while connected to PC with USB cable. Hopefully it will boot into fastboot mode. I use linux because windows has too many problems with drivers.

hi,
i have Kindle Fire HD 7" after some issues i try to flashing, voip all data and delete backup etc, my WTRP V.2.7.8.0 changed to v.2.6.3.1 and stuck in kindle fire logo and not connected to pc or not show storage in my computer.
please help me and restore my kindle fire tate. thanks a lot (i am using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS)
Can you boot into TWRP? You need to update to at least V2.8.7.0. I'm running V3.0.0.0 but I can't find the download link anywhere. If you're in TWRP 2.6.3.1 try going the the boot menu and reboot to bootloader. This should put you in fastboot. Next, connect to PC via USB. Type fastboot devices to see if it's working. Now fastboot flash recovery /(path and filename to TWRP 2.8.7.0) Once you have the newer version installed, remove usb cable and reboot to twrp and make sure mtd is enabled in the mount menu. You sould be able to connect usb cable and drag and drop your chosen ROM and gapps into the internal storage where you can install them with TWRP.

yes divice boot in TWRP and < i have v.2.8.7.0 file > my kindle access to fasboot mode but after connecting to pc not reconize and in the mount menu mtd option not show.
(adb & kindle usb driver already installed) sorry my english is not good
Make sure USB 2.0 or less on PC port. Try a different cable. Try another Android device just to make sure everything works on the computer.

Thanks again to you
Kindle show in my laptop but connect see pics.
Try installing mtp USB many times but not successfully installing in my laptop.
you need a newer version of twrp. If fastboot won't work, I don't know how you can flash a new recovery or bootloader.
The last thing to try would be to update adb and fastboot from Google or the Ubuntu repositories. https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools.html
Try: fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product
Try with root: sudo su
I have never used a fastboot cable. It hasn't been necessary but it may be in your case.

[SOLVED] Flashing TWRP fails with "FAILED (Status read failed (No such device))"

Hi,
today I tried to flash TWRP on my XZ1 Compact to later install LineageOS on it, as the provider-supplied Android version is stuck at version 9.
I managed to unlock the bootloader and I followed this guide on TWRP.me to install TWRP.
All steps were successful, except the actual flashing of the recovery.
Meaning, that I could successfully list my device with `adb devices`, successfully boot into the bootloader with `adb reboot bootloader` (blue LED indicator, black screen), as well as successfully list the device with `fastboot devices` afterwards.
The final step though fails as follows:
Code:
sudo ./fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.6.1_9-0-lilac.img
Sending 'recovery' (33816 KB) FAILED (Status read failed (No such device))
fastboot: error: Command failed
After the above command failed, the phone seems to end the bootloader mode and returns to just charging via USB.
I tried this several times, but nothing changed.
I'd appreciate any help to get TWRP installed to be hopefully able to install LineageOS.
If there's any further information/details missing, please let me know.
EDIT:
I tried the above steps with ADB/Fastboot versions 33.0.1-8253317 and 33.0.2-855794 on a Linux machine with the same outcome.
Thanks a lot in advance!
SOLVED: For some reason switching to another laptop (with the exact same adb/fastboot files and TWRP) solved the problem.
Had the same f--ing thing. Google brought me to this post where a user solved it by trying out different laptops and USB ports. Thought it was nonsense, but tried it out on another laptop and it worked. BTW, adb's fastboot never worked on Windows for me due to some driver issue which apparently only concerns Xperias and I tried two different Linux distros before finally having success booting up EndeavourOS from a USB.
I have a Redmi 7 and for some reason this is the top result for my search of this exact problem for the redmi, so I'm going to post this here in hops it can help keep someone from banging their head against the wall like I have. And hopefully this method helps us out with Sony as well.
I tried 4 different PCs and I couldn't get mine to work.
However I did get it to work by manually rebooting into recovery after flashing twrp by holding the power + volume up buttons right at the fastboot screen and releasing the buttons after seeing the Redmi name.
To clarify:
Run fastboot flash recovery twrpname.img
Do not run "fastboot boot twrpname.img"
From the fastboot screen on your phone hold the power & volume up buttons until you see the Redmi name display
You will be in TWRP
