Hi,
I plugged my phone in to charge last night and this morning, despite the fact it was plugged in, the phone had 0% battery, I managed to ultimately get the phone to charge, however, now that I've powered the phone on I can't seem to connect it to wifi.
I've tried rebooting the phone, switching wifi off and on again, resetting network settings and nothing has resolved the issue. The wifi is able to scan nearby networks, but when I enter the password to confirm, the phone doesn't even try to connect, it just gives the error.
I'd rather not wipe my phone if possible to resolve this as I don't want to try and restore appdata for any apps Google doesn't back up to the cloud.
Can anyone help with resolving this? Is there maybe a way to reinstall the Android ROM without destroying the data perhaps or is there another solution?
Many thanks.

I have a Tilt with the stock AT&T ROM and HardSPL. I keep the HSDPA data on all the time and connect to my wireless access point while at home.
I understand and am fine with wifi disconnecting in sleep mode - email still checks using HSDPA. What normally happens is when I power the Tilt back from sleep the WiFi connects back to my access point.
I've noticed more than a few times however that coming out of sleep WiFi doesn't even attempt to reconnect to the access point. It is on in Comm Manager and appears to be associated with my AP, but checking the IP online shows an AT&T IP addr, not my CATV provider.
The only way to get back on WiFi is to shut off the phone (or reset). I don't want to keep WiFi on while in standby, I just want it to reconnect when it should.
Has anyone seen this behaviour?
Cheers,
Todd
Wifi access point problem
I had a problem where suddenly after months of use with my home wifi router, it suddenly would not connect with the router anymore. Would show that it was trying to connect, and then would suddenly not connect and try another router on the list.
I tried reseting and everything. Tried re-entering the password for my router as I thought that was the problem. finally the only fix i found to work was to actually delete the access point from the phone... then reset and then let it find it all over again from scratch. And miraculously that time it worked.
I know this is not exactly your problem, but hope it helps.
I will try that and see what happens. It seems whatever sub-routine that turns the wifi on isn't running at times and doesn't even attempt to search.
Hey, in the last few weeks I've run into a very annoying bug on my phone. Wi-fi turns itself off after about 2 minutes. It doesn't actually "turn itself off" in the phone - and by that I mean that the wifi icon is still there, and I can see the signal strength, but the internet won't work.
In order to fix it, I have to turn the wifi off and then on again.
I've tried using the Wifi Fixer application, but it doesn't help. It can't seem to detect when I lose my internet connection.
I've also troubleshooted it, checking that it occurs on different routers/types of networks.
I'm sure it's a problem with my phone, but I dont really want to reformat my phone until Froyo comes (since I don't want to have to install all my apps twice).
Is there any solution to this? ;z
I'm on stock rom, JF3, with OCLF.
I have the same problem with my phone. My Wi-Fi at home works just fine, but when I go to my brother's house, I seem to occasionally lose internet connection even though it shows that it's still connected to the Wi-Fi. I have stock Bell ROM with OCLF by RyanZA. Oh, and to fix it I simply turn Wi-Fi off, and then on, and it starts working again.
Bump :x
Anyone have a solution?
Hi guys,
I'm still working on figuring out the connectivity issues of my O2X. My problem has been that my data connectivity intermittently drops out, and fails to establish one and move out of WiFi range.
I have completely reset my phone to stock with the latest updates available in Norway. This is baseband 622, and version number 10c. The problem I am consistently having is that whenever I have stayed on one connection type (WiFi or 3G/edge) for any length of time and then switch, the phone fails to establish a connection through the other service. This means that whenever I have been home connected to my WiFi for awhile and move out, mobile data is not established. Similarly, when I get home, it does not automatically connect to my home WiFi network. In both cases the solution is to turn on and off WiFi mobile data (sometimes several times) to re-establish the connection.
If I quickly moved in and out a range of my WiFi, the switches between the two connections without any problems.
This is with everything stock. Is there any point in trying the other basebands? I have tried a few of them already, but without consistently good results.
The alternative solution is to send it in for repair, but they will only tested, figure out that they cannot locate the problem because they do not have the funds stay with the same connection long enough, flash the phone with the latest firmware, and send it back. After repeat this three times, I'm entitled to a refund or a new device, but it means that I will basically be without my phone for around six weeks.
Any and all solutions are greatly appreciated.
Edit: I guess a possible solution is just to use Tasker or something similar to reset mymobile data connection when I leave WiFi, and regularly reset WiFi when on mobile data.
I believe I have the same problem.
The 3G data connection would drop about every 10 minutes.
I got the phone a week ago and it too came with 10c firmware and 0622 baseband.
I believe that this is a hardware problem because I have flashed other firmware + baseband combos and yet this same problem still occurs.
I have sent the phone back for repairs yesterday. I hope that they can fix this problem.
Again, its probably baseband related....
Same for me here

Hi everyone. I have an N7000, on stock 4.1.2. I've had the phone for several months now, and a few days ago rooted it using Philz-CWM6 method. I got root successfully, and had no real issues.
Last night, the battery drained fully, and the phone shut down. This morning I charged it up, and immediately noticed issues with the wi-fi. What happens specifically is when the phone first boots up, wi-fi works fine, I can browse the net, use any services that rely on network access, everything. After a short period of time, around 5 minutes at the most, I'm no longer able to access the internet, though the device is still connected to my home network, still has an IP, and can be pinged from another computer connected to the same network. If I turn my wi-fi off and then back on, it works about 50% of the time, but even then, only for a minute or two before it drops again.
I'm not too sure what the issue could be, it's not solely a DNS issue, as apps which don't rely on DNS, such as IRC don't work either. I've tried assigning the phone a static IP from the router, confirmed that there's no power saving options enabled for wi-fi on the phone, and rebooted both the phone and router several times with no luck.
Would anyone have any ideas where I could go from this point?
Went ahead and used Odin to restore back to the stock firmware, got rid of the root, cwm, and the yellow triangle in the process. Set it up as a completely fresh device, and the issue still persists. Tried it on both my home network and a public hotspot, and both produce the same results. After several minutes of use I'm no longer able to access the internet, but all the settings show me as still connected to the network, however when I try to ping the device from another computer on the network, it times out.
Really at a loss for what to do at this point. Would anyone have any ideas?
hi all. i am on android 6.0.1 build 23.5.A.1.291. My problem is that my wifi keeps resetting and searching. i am traveling so its not my personal router that is an issue. my tablet and laptop connect to the same routers here without issue but my phone tries to connect various open connections but immediately resets all connections and starts searching for them again. occasionally it connects for a second. the same issue occurs if is set my tablet as a hotspot so i doubt it is related to the available connections. also for some reason i don't seem to have any advanced options anymore to tell the phone to sop scanning. Any help would be much appreciated. so far I tried turning airplane mode on and off as it seems have started at the airport, reset all network connections , general powering down and up etc. nothing seems to work.
hey, i know this post is quite old yet i only found it now facing exactly the same issue. it all started at my parents when phone was suddenly not able to connect (exclamation mark on wifi icon in status bar). i restarted router but it did not help. when i came home i faced the same issue. both routers are different, different provider, etc. before the weekend all worked fine so not really sure what happened. not the phone (z3c) keeps searching for wifi, displays the list for a few secs and searches again.
i tried what was suggested in other topics, like here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/help/wifi-issues-z3c-marshmallow-fix-t3390859
or
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/help/wifi-randomly-disconnecting-575-t3435244
but nothing helped. now considering to re-flash the latest firmware. trying my luck here before i do so.
current sw on 23.5.A.1.291
update:
1) i tried to repair the phone using Sony Companion .. did not help
2) flashed it with the latest sw .. did not help
in both cases sw version was D5803_23.5.A.1.291_1288-5411_R12D. when phone starts for the first time it shows wifi networks. but just for a while, that it starts "searching for wifi networks..". when i select my wifi network, fill in the password and click connect it says "failed to connect to network". i can already see on the background that the phone is again searching for wifi networks. if i try to connect at the right moment network is saved. but then it does not connect. or sometimes it does but "checking connection" takes ages and wifi symbol in top bar keeps appearing and disappearing. at the end it shows error message "could not connect to internet".
what could be the problem?
