Well, better check it as BBS/Gsam says that mobile data is off when wifi is connected.

No, as far as I have observed it's behaviour, it stays connected, and will kick in when WiFi is still connected but unstable or slow or no internet available.
Also, VoLTE calls are made via mobile data even when connected to WiFi (unless you have WiFi calling enabled).
LTE is not completely disabled when WiFi is connected unless you turn it off manually. At least that's my understanding...

Auto Turn Off Mobile Data When Connected to WiFi

Does anyone know of an app that will automatically turn off mobile data when i'm successfully connected to a WiFi connection have have internet access through it.
The app should do something like this...
1. Check for WiFi connection
2. If WiFi = connected, then test WiFi connection
3. If connection = Good, then turn off Mobile Data, else leave Data connection ON
If you suggest Tasker, then you better follow it up with a full write-up on how to set it up on Tasker.
I believe (someone will correct me if I'm wrong) that Android is programmed to use wifi when it's available, even though your data connection looks as if it's on.
If you're not happy with that, Automate It should be able to do something for you. I have Automate It Pro set to turn off wifi & data at midnight, for example, to avoid the nuisance of emails pinging me in the middle of the night. And it switches wifi & sync on at 09:00 each day. Very useful tool, simpler than Tasker, so no tutorial from me...
There are a few Automate apps in the Play Store - it's this one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=AutomateIt.mainPackage
This free version allows you 3 (as I recall) triggers - if you need more it's not too expensive to buy Pro.
I use RadioControl to handle that for me.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nikhilparanjape.radiocontrol&hl=en
It requires root, and it's not perfect. But it works well enough for me.

Try smart radio xposed module.

Tasker does it pretty simply, but it needs root access..
Set up (2) tasks - I called mine Data Off & Data On. You will need to select "Net/Mobile Data" and then set "On" or "Off" respectively. Next set up your profile. Select "State/Net/Wifi Connected", and leave everything empty and save. This will trigger the profile when any wifi is connected. (Optionally, you could set it to your home or work wifi, etc). Your "task" will be "Data Off", then add an "exit task" for "Data On" (by long pressing the Data On and selecting "exit task").

^^^^ This. Android has done this for years. Some devices have the ability to keep mobile data on with wifi, but those usually default to OFF.
Note in the screenshot below that my Cellular network state (mobile data) is "Disconnected"

when the wifi is connected mobile data automatically turns off you dont need a app :/
Thanks are you referring to the Auto Network Switch under the Wifi setting?
When I set to Yes it gave a warning that it may auto switch to Mobile Data.
Suspect that if Wifi is not strong but still connected, it may switch to Mobile Data to get better connection which I do not want.

I'm in the complete opposite camp, how I wish there's an option for the phone to automatically switch to mobile data when the wifi becomes practically unusable.
There's a wifi deadspot in my house where I often use the phone, and contrary to what you suspect, my observations indicate that as long as there's a wifi connection, no matter how weak the signal, the phone will try its best to send and receive packets over wifi.
I usually have to manually switch off wifi.
Thanks for your feedback.
I will monitor whether the outcome is similar like yours.
I will turn ON both the Mobile Data and Wifi and using the Wifi preference setting.
If it works as you have stated, I will be very happy.
My priority is saving the cost from Mobile Data which is expensive to me.
I would like to control all downloads/updates of apps through Wifi.
Will use Mobile Data only when Wifi is not available/connected.

There is an option in developer settings to keep mobile data active even when Wi-Fi is connected. That may help with your Wi-Fi dead zone.
I think this option works for one device only.
I would rather recommend deploying a repeater for the Wifi signal, which will serves all devices at the dead spot.
A simple repeater should cost about USD10/

Thanks Pakman123 and mhaha, for sharing your experience.
So far testing as recommended works according to your views.
For mhaha, I believe a wifi signal repeater set up will resolve your concern.

You can look at which apps are thirsty data eaters in settings under mobile data usage. Then click on the hungry app, untick background data.
Turning off background data will keep the apps restricted to WiFi slurping.
Thanks for looking up.
Appreciate your good suggestion.

Sony RX100 ii connectivity

Hi anyone have experience with connecting the n8 to this camera? Using the sony memories software it tries to connect but disconnects immediately. Any ideas folks.
I have an A5000 but i believe the method should be same.
When using wifi transfer i set it to wifi direct rather than through a router/access point (never had any success with using wifi router), when connecting directly to the camera the phone will complain about no internet access, make sure you pull the drop down and select stay connected anyways (otherwise the note may drop the connection so i can reconnect to your router that does have internet connection)
Found the solution I had to disable mobile data. Only found this out this by checking whether it worked on my tab s3 and it did so was a matter of deduction. Thx

Mobile data issues on AOD

Hi,
I got an problem. Everytime when i use the mobile data and I am in the browser, everything is fine - internet connection is working, but when I have the mobile data on, and the screen is disabled (only aod) the connection to internet is interrupted and I have no acces to the internet. The intelligent mobile transfer is off, but still when the phone is on allways on display, after few minutes the connection is "off", even if the mobile data is on. I checked the connection signal, and everything is fine. Is there an system app that might be killing the internet connection? It's my first time with Huawei.
Best regards

Maybe your smart data saver is on. Search for it in the settings.

Then in app launch, have you restricted google play services ? make sure that auto launch - secondary launch - run in background is all turned on
Also make sure data saver is off, reboot and then try again.
Lastly, under More Battery Settings - make sure Stay connected when device sleeps is Turned On
Okay I changed the app launch for Google Play Services to manual and will see if it will work. @JJay666 thanks for the help.

Question Data connection is active even when on WiFi

Hi all,
I'm noticing that the data connection seems to be active even when on WiFi. Is there any option that I need to disable so that the phone runs entirely on WiFi. I looked in the developer options and keep data alive option is unchecked. Am I missing something?

Hi, just go into Wi-Fi Settings / Advanced and switch off tab (Switch to mobile data)
That's all.
Hi. Thanks for this but this option was never enabled in the first place. Anyways, it's self corrected now...aah..the wonders of the tech world

It's enabled by default just to keep your internet connection stable when wi-fi has an issues.

It will re-appear occasionally. Even if you turn off the "Switch to Mobile Data" setting, the mobile data icons and wifi icons will appear concurrently on the status bar. This happens even when the wifi connection is solid. Usually the mobile data icon disappears after a few seconds or minutes on its own. I'm not sure if its by design (for MMS or RCS or something else) or if it's a bug. But you're not the only one seeing this. My colleague has an S21U too and he shared a similar experience.

I'm suffering from the opposite problem!
I *WANT* to keep mobile data enabled while connected to Wi-Fi, but the setting on my phone has no effect! When I turn on the setting, my phone will still ignore mobile data.
I verify this by connecting to my dashcam via Wi-Fi. The dashcam does not provide any internet via Wi-Fi, but merely allows my phone to view the dashcam output and stored files. But once I connect my phone to the dashcam, then my phone has no connection to the internet. I can't force it to use the mobile data at that point. The phone is not behaving as it should. My older phone, LG G6, is able to successfully connect to the dashcam and still access the data through the cell signal.
The S21 Ultra simply cannot achieve this. I have the T-mobile variant, in the US.
I believe this is a bug. Can you get this setting to actually work? Like maybe test it by connecting your phone to your Wi-Fi router but disconnect the modem from the Wi-Fi router?
I'll post a separate thread for this, because I think it's a bug and maybe others are suffering from it without realizing.
