Is the storage slower on Android 11? I've tried most Android 11 ROMs and on all of them the storage feels way slower than on Android 10. For example, I have a couple of folders with thousands on pictures and on Android 10 with the gallery app and with Simple Gallery they load very fast and the new pics are shown very fast too, same on MiXplorer but on Android 11 ROMs it takes a lot longer to load and display the pictures and also the new pictures sometimes they aren't even shown in the correct order, I have to go back and open the folder again several times for the new pictures to show and show in the correct order. Is there a fix to this?
Thanks

Hey all,
Bit of a weird one, since going from stock to Fr11 using Google Gallery (rather than LG which I didn't bake into the ROM) it seems that the photos are stored backwards. So my oldest photos show at the front and I have to scroll all the way to the end to see any new ones, I can't find any options to change the order they are displayed in.
I am using External SD as main storage.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Check your device date, did you take any with the wrong date?
P
Device date is OK and just taken a photo which has ended up at the end.
99% of the photos are from my Desire which remained on the SD card, I have only taken a couple with my LG2X and have now deleted those photos, cleared all app data and cache for gallery and re-scanned media...still the same :/
I have the same problem and it is painful
Quick update, as I was upgrading to Fr12 last night I cooked the LG gallery back into the ROM. Running this instead of standard Google gallery (even if they look the same) the photos are now in the correct order again.
Picked up an HTC One DE to upgrade from a Galaxy Nexus. I've had a few days to play with it, so now there are a lot of pictures on the One... the trouble is that my GN uses a logical naming scheme (eg,: IMG_20130503_215914"), while the HTC One saves them with just sequential numbering (eg.: "IMAG0004"). I have a ton of pictures using the GN's naming scheme and would prefer to have the One spit out pictures using the logical naming with dates in it like the GN.
Can't find any settings to change this in any app. Help?
Also a small gripe/side effect of zoes: it takes 20 pictures, and on the phone gallery I believe it picks the "best" one to display. I wish this was labelled somehow when browsing the dcim folder on a computer, because sorting through even a weekend's worth of zoes is turning into a several hour long ordeal, never mind my usual "hook it up to a pc once a month to sync/dump photos".
there isnt any way to change how pictures are named. zoes have rendered any 3rd party gallery like quickpic useless. ive had the phone for 3 weeks and i have 3000+ pictures on it due to the zoes. its also a pain looking at them on the computer since MTP takes forever.

What about some sort of post-picture naming script? I am no coder, but could a script be written to look at the EXIF info and rename the file with the date/time stamp? Anyone care to take a stab?
Somehow I messed up setting up my wife's new Moto X. In the past I had some tasker tasks to transfer all the photos off our phones and onto our NAS every night. In setting up the task on her new phone I deleted a slew of pictures. I know the original photos are gone and I'll face the music on that one. However, if I go to camera and swipe to the left I can scroll through all the photos. I can't email or share any because the file is gone, but if I can see the photos there must be a low res image someplace on the phone still. Anyone know how to access these and possibly get me out of the doghouse? They're not in the DCIM folder at all. I poked around in the Android/Data folder a bit, but did not find them.
On the same note, is there a way to clean these out over time? Seems to me if I have a thumbnail of every photo ever taken it would eventually fill up the storage.
Thanks
Get an app like astro file manager, or root Explorer and go to storage then DCIM and your thumbnail pics should be there.

Those are probably all cached. As for recovering them, I'm sure you can find them in the cache -- I don't know where they'd be saved (I believe there is a /cache partition but then there's also the possibility that the gallery caches those previews somewhere in /data/). It may be easier to to screen shot the ones you want.
EDIT: see above post - that's probably what you want
As for the cache growing, I'd imaging that the gallery app has some sort of maintenance. But there is always the option of using apps (I have SD Maid, personally) and/or periodically clearing the cache partition via a custom recovery
Thanks all. This was good info also. I ended up finding the files on my NAS which leads me to a whole other question which I will post seperately from this as it only related by symptoms.
Running a stock Nexus 6 w 5.1 lmy47d on T-Mobile in case it matters. At some point over the last couple weeks it seems that Photos has been updated (or at least the gallery view part of it) so that photos I've edited replace the original photo instead of showing up as a new image. That's in Photos, where selecting the edited photo gives me the option to view the original by clicking a little button.
When I'm trying to post an image on fb or text it to someone, however, I can only see the original image with no way to find the edited version. Needless to say the various folders and navigation options for locating images were already confusing, but this really messes me up. Is there a way to turn this "helpful" feature off? Why can't photos just all be there? Why are edited images no longer stored under On Device? Where is everything.......?
Arggggh.

very simple solution.. use a different gallery app. photos i dont use, but i do use the aosp gallery app.
Device: Redmi Note 10 Pro, Indian version, out of box, no tweaks, MIUI Global 12.5.2
What I've tried: Factory reset x3 , clear data, clear cache, update
(TL;DR: MIUI File Manager taking an eternity to open folders and display files, cannot transfer files from first space to second space)
I hope this post abides by all the rules of this forum. I am writing this with a sense of urgency. I recently switched from Redmi Note 5 Pro to Redmi Note 10 Pro. It's been 2 days. Everything's working fine, except two major issues, the first one bigger than the second.
1. The default out of box MIUI File Manager. It's painfully slow. It's taking 5 full minutes to refresh(the landing screen), and 5 full minutes to load the contents of a folder (one which has 10,000 images). I also tried Files, Solid Explorer, they are only slightly faster. Bringing me to my question, what is the problem specifically? Is it a software issue or a hardware issue? Is it a read/write issue? Only other instance of someone else facing this issue was this . Please help a brother out. Is anyone else facing this issue? My Redmi Note 5 Pro is opening the same folder contents in a jiffy (barely 2 seconds), and all Redmi Note 10 Pro is doing is frustrating me by taking 5 minutes to open a folder which has just photos. What use is AMOLED, 120Hz, and Snapdragon 732G when it can't open folders which Snapdragon 636 breezes by?
2. Cannot transfer files from first space to second space anymore? Only apps? Redmi Note 5 Pro allows for transfer of files from first space to second space. Why doesn't Redmi Note 10 Pro?
Should I put in a request for replacement? I don't want to delay it any more, unless need be.
Edit: Problem occurs while accessing folders out of internal storage. The refreshing of the landing page of the File Manager nevertheless takes time. Accessing SD card works fine.
I would suggest you to flash a custom rom. If you want better speed, battery, stability, ram management, etc, install a custom rom. I recommend Arrow os.

Not a huge fan of custom roms. MIUI does it for me. I've set it in such a way that I don't get the pesky side of things. I need MIUI for the functionality. Second space, dual apps et all.
All of those can be done in a custom rom. But if you want to stick with MIUI, I respect your decision. But I cant help you with your issue. Maybe you can try on xiaomi reddit, xiaomi forum, or directly contact them.
Edit: also see if any system update is available.

I've ran all the updates. No improvements. Posted it on reddit (got a few responses: some are facing, some aren't), xiaomi forum (no replies yet). Last option, yes, I would directly contact them. However I was interested in knowing the technical side of things in order to not get blindsided by them. Whether it's a hardware issue, wherein there are problems with read/write, problems pulling up data from Internal Storage or whether a software bug. Because it's not just File Managers that's not working, no other file manager seems to work as well. Only Google Files works slightly faster.
Because I'm pretty sure they'll make me go through the same cycle of factory reset, clear data, clear cache, update.

I would flash stock miui via pc and if it's not really faster in internal memory then make a warranty request.
If it's on external sd then may a problem with file system and or some files

I'll do that. Flash stock miui via pc. And yes, it's on internal memory only. Loading files in SD card works fine. It's the refreshing of the landing page and opening folders in the internal memory that takes an awful amount of time.
