I have the S21 Ultra running Android 11. I would like to disable the annoying Google Assistant Beep. Everything I see online refers to an option in accessability called switch access. That option is apparently not part of Android 11 or S21 Ultra.
I contacted Google and Samsung and they were no help.
Has anyone figured out how to do this on this device?
Even when my volume is turned ON -- my Google Assistant only vibrates lightly. I don't know what I did to generate that behavior.
Actually, go into "System sound/vibration control". See if that helps.

Pretty much what it says in the title. I use the Nexus 6p now and unlock the phone using OK Google all the time. Is that possible on the Note 9?

Firstly, the settings are there in Setting /Lockscreen /Smart lock (see screenshots)
How well voice unlock works, i wouldn't be able to tell you.!
However i have lockscreen with Fingerprint and pin set.
I have used Google Assistant from "sleep" with Fingerprint
lockscreen and 9 out of 10 times Google Assistant wakes up if i say Ok Google etc (To give Google Assistant a command eg send sms, call etc.)
However, as i have a few other Smart unlock options also enabled.
eg
S3 Gear watch, Bluetooth car radio, my Polar running watch
etc etc
For me i have no issues overall and does as such not
use Google Assistant to unlock, but to give commands.
As stated the Google Assistant wake up option is present. in Smart lock /Settings.
I got a p30 pro as a gift in China and coming from a Pixel 2XL, this software is incredibly frustrating.
My 3 main annoyances are:
1. Google Pay doesn't seem to work. Everytime I try to setup my card, an error message says "Can't complete setup for contactless payment. To resolve this, you'll need to contact...." This is so annoying, why bother allowing the app to be installed in the first place? In Settings, you can even choose Google Pay as a default payment app.
2. Notifications do not persist on lockscreen. E.g. when using Spotify, the playback controls show up initially on lockscreen, but disappears shortly after. Once a new song starts playing, the controls show up again. Same goes for all kinds of notifications like email, messages, etc. They do show up after unlocking the phone, but even if I don't dismiss them, I can't see them on the lockscreen. I've turned on the Show on lockscreen option in all the affected apps, but no dice. I disabled face unlock and that doesn't help neither
3. Google assistant. In settings, the Access with Voice Match toggle is greyed out, so there's no way to trigger assistant unless by opening the Google or Google assistant app.
Searching these forums has been pointless, no one seems to know how to fix these issues. Now Huawei doesn't even allow unlock bootloader and root anymore....
Has anyone found any workaround?
Thanks and have an awesome weekend
In November 2019, Google released Ambient mode for Google assistant on very few select devices (Nokia, xiaomi, Lenovo) has anyone figured out how to port this APK to any other phone? This would be a super useful feature for me since Google doesn't sell the chromecast audio and the google home mini doesn't have a headphone jack. Couldn't someone just pack up the apk and upload it somewhere?
I would love to see this too.
At work I just leave my phone charging on my desk, so having assistant ambient mode would be a great use of my device that is just sitting there anyway.
+1
But I think is not as simple as replacing the Google app apk. I think it needs a way to mock Nokia, Xiaomi or Lenovo devices
Available but disabled
I can see that emui 10 has it if you search in settings. It's icon says LDAC. Bit there are no options to enable it. Maybe there's a workaround.
Hello,
I just discovered my OP10 Pro running OOS 12 does not support Google Assistant Driving Mode. Does anyone here know if that's the long term plan or is there a plan to support it eventually -- or any other details?
I used Android Auto a lot with my old phone and it worked well for me. I can't use it anymore because my car does not support Android Auto and the Android Auto app now only works with cars, not as a phone app.
Try sideloading the latest Google services Beta + the Google search beta. Once installed, reboot your phone.
Launching the Assistant with thr vocal command "Hey Google, Driving mode" should enable it.
Thanks for the suggestion, @dexlemaffo. I may try sideloading at some point if I can convince myself that doing so isn't over my novice head.
Right now, I'm really interested to understand why OnePlus decided not to support this functionality. Does it not play nice with their hardware or with OxygenOS? If that's the case, then I probably won't try sideloading. If it does play nice, I'm really confused why they don't support it out of the box. I find that lots of times, people here are familiar with "inside baseball" insights like this.
Again, thanks for the suggestion.

I have done that and it does nothing. All it opens is a mode that just keeps maps open but is not the new assistant driving mode.
Hello,
Today I was unfortunately forced to update Android Auto to 7.8.622514-release. My Android Auto was running really stable with 7.5 (and I had really bad experience with 7.1 and 7.3 --> therefore I'm absolutely no fan of this forced updates).
I checked the functionality with a second phone with the app "Headunit Reloaded".
I noticed that I have a now the "Google" app available in Android Auto.
But it seems to me that the app has no function at all. I just have the message "no new messages during your drive".
Moreover it also does not appear in the launcher settings on my phone. Therefore I can't even deactivate the Google app.
Does anyone else have this? Does anyone know what kind of function the app should have?
I really do not think that I need this app. I prefer to have a clean Android Auto. Is there any other way to deactivate this app from Android Auto?
Thanks a lot.
Update: I also noticed that the Google Assistant shortcuts vanished and can't get brought back...Where are my Google Assistant shortcuts now?
Update 2: now after using Android Auto today for some drives in my car, everything is normal again. The Google app was gone after the 2nd drive and I could add my Assistant shortcuts again after the 3rd drive. I'm really curious why this happened...
I just hate these forced updates.
