Question How to improve the Finger Print Sensor - Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

The Finger Print Sensor works more reliable if you disable the Haptic Feedback. It seems that the Vibration at unlocking affects the reliability of the sensor.

Hey on my original global rom it was really bad but since updating to 12.5.3 I removed the fingerprints and re-added and now it works perfectly

Will try this, mine doesn't work anywhere near 100%

Mine works perfectly without any 'hack'

I've noticed that if you keep your finger down it takes longer, I keep my finger down a split sec then lift up, works well so far even at night.

Same here

The capacitive one on my other phones is much more reliable and faster

I just added face unlock ...saves me annoyance

Proximity sensor issue - can't end calls when screen doesn't wake!

Ever since my 4x HD was new I've noticed a problem, but it's getting so annoying now I finally thought I should do something about it, and I've contacted LG with a view to sending it off for repair:
When I remove the phone from my ear the proximity sensor usually fails to wake the screen back up, meaning I have no controls to end the call with. Occasionally swiping my finger over the sensors at the top of the screen wake it up, but mostly it takes several attempts, and presses of the screen lock button.
SO annoying when you are leaving someone a voicemail and it's still recording, all they hear at the end of the message is the muffled swipe of a finger and me muttering and swearing at the phone as it carries on recording for another 30 seconds or so!!
Anyone else have this issue??

Mine doesn't awake in the end of calls too... but I thought it was normal
We have an option where we can use "Power button" to turn off calls...
I didn't knew that the proximity sensor was suppose to wake up the disply...
Hi Rudeas,
Glad it's not just me!
Where is the option to use the power button to end calls?

Settings/Accessibility/Power button ends call :good:
you can set power cut a call
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda premium
Maybe a really daft question, but I presume you haven't put a screen protector on that covers the sensor? Stone of the cheap protectors do and that would stop it working properly.
Good thinking, but no, I don't have a.screen protector or anything over It.
To test and eventually to calibrate the proximity sensor, you can use hidden menu (dial 3845#*880#) -> Device Test -> All Auto Test Menu Full -> ALC / Proximity Test.
You can even test the "auto brightness mode" (to test also the light sensor) and "enable proximity wakeLock" (to simulate a call).
To test the sensor just put a finger near the sensor.
There is also a "Calibration" feature to calibrate the sensor if needed.

Wow italianquadcore! That is amazing! Firstly I could see by putting my finger over the sensor how poorly it was working. Often it wouldn't notice I had taken my finger away- then I pressed calibrate, and now it notices instantly, every time!!
Thanks loads, I'm assuming it's fixed now!

Thanx a lot, yah it was a screen protector giving trouble to sensor.
Hi everyone.
I've just bought myself P880 as well. But had the same problem as author. However, the fix to calibrate via hidden menu didn't help at all. My sensor doesn't react at all, however, when I am using a hardware test it shows sensor is present.
Do you think there is something wrong with sensor itself, or there might be some android might have failed to initialize driver?
Thanks in advance!
Mine wasn't fixed by the calibration for long. It soon got worse again, I actually damaged my headphone socket (using a really big headphone plug through an 3.5mm adapter, then accidentally knocking it) and ended up buying a new part from etradesupply.com for about £17. The headphone socket is the same component that contains the proximity sensor, so replacing that fixed it.
I had phoned LG, but as I had bought my p880 from german amazon they said they wouldn't have covered me even if it had been a warranty problem (So much for Europe being somehow unified!) so I had to risk taking my phone apart myself!

It works with V20A without any problems (just tested). Please check if you disabled something, regarding hidden menu or some other related items, in app management.
Thank you italianquadcore!
That solved my issue as well...

[Q] Only top infrared sensor for gestures seems to work

Only the top infrared sensor seems to react to motion. If I put my finger over that one, I get an immediate response, any of the others don't seem to get any sort of response. Anyone else having that experience?

The bottom ones don't work if you are too close. Try about 6 inches out and it'll work.

Turn off vibration finger print scanner?

Does anyone know if it's possible to turn off the vibration of the finger print scanner without root?
No as far as I know

Whilst this does require root to start, you can install LineageOS (which is NOT rooted by default) That usually has an option to do that, the radio/.signal is better and is generally stable.. As for no root at all, there isn't a way.

Fingerprint AOD

Is it possible to remove fingerprint from aod on p30 pro without removing fingerprint sign in? I can't find settings for it...
I don't know about yours, but mine isn't there until I pick up the phone or touch the screen?
If you want to completely remove it then you can't - the way the finger print sensor works requires the screen to light up at max brightness under your finger so it can capture the fingerprint with the optical sensor.
Watch the 'JerryRigEverything' YouTube teardown to find out more info on how it works, but when scanning for a fingerprint it needs the illumination

I was wondering this too as I'm starting to get slight screen burn from a combination of that and the intense light required to unlock. My S10+ has an option to turn it off, and muscle memory dictates that it isn't really necessary after a few days of use.

As I said above, the reason for the intense light is that it uses and optical sensor rather than an ultrasonic sensor (as used in the S10+). Without the light it simply will not be able to see fingerprints.

I understand that but I'd like to at least be able to turn off the fingerprint indicator. I hold my phone in my hand most of the day so it's a bit annoying that it pops up every time you move the phone. You can switch off this indicator on the S10 and it has nothing to do with the technology - it's just a guide.

Face unlock not working when screen off

Anyone else having this issue? I have to either tap phone or tap power button to get screen to turn on, then face unlock will work. Previously I would be able to just hold it up to my face with screen off and it would just unlock. After most recent update it no longer does this. Very frustrating.
Check maybe lift to wake phone is turned off in the settings.

Mine was doing that too...along with auto brightness stuck and the proximity sensor wasn't turning the screen on and off during calls. As a last resort before sending it back (since I had to wipe it anyway) I tried the first android 11 beta (not 1.5). It almost completely fixed everything but the proximity sensor. Still had to occasionally tap the phone or power it on to face unlock though. Google replaced it because of the proximity sensor. The replacement phone is working fine on latest update of 10

I really didn't have ANY bugs that I found with beta 1....read 1.5 has some issues. Is your proximity sensor working? I used androsensor to confirm
edit I did wipe face data before erasing

My prox sensor is working fine. It just won't face unlock with screen off. Turned on lift to check phone and now screen wakes without me having to do anything but still, there was a time where I had that feature off and face unlock would unlock with screen off
