On Windows 10 with your phone plugged in just go to windows update and you'll find a driver install request

Did you do the unlocking in fastboot mode? Try another usb cable, some people are having issues with some.
Run the unlock tool as an administrator - the only thing which solved it for me under Windows 10.
Send me a private message with teamviewer details. I can help
Make sure the following is done prior to booting into fastboot:
Make sure that developer options is enable.
Make sure Unlock OEM is enabled
Make sure you have linked your MI account to your phone
Make sure USB debugging is enabled
Step 1: Place the phone in fastboot and plug it into your PC.
Step 2: Navigate to your windows search bar, enter "device manager" and open the top result. It should now show you several different drivers. You should see one named Android under "Other Devices."

If you see a little triangle, then you just need to download the driver for it.
I downloaded these driver
Step 3: Uncompress the files and open the folder up. You should see a file called Mi USB Driver. Run that file.
Step 4: A window will pop up asking you to unplug your Phone. Unplug it from the USB and replug it back in. It should then change the message to "Installing Drivers"
Step 5: Open the MI Unlock Tool and refresh. You should now have the ability to unlock the phone.
Let me know if that helped, or if you need additional assistance.

UPDATE: Unfortunately I no longer own this handset so am unable to test it against newer firmwares. If you find that this method does not work on firmware newer than V10D, try downgrading first.
I would like to begin this post, by saying that I did not come up with this method, but wanted to get it written up as a proper thread as soon as possible for people to start enjoying root on their phones!
This method was tested successfully by me on an EU phone running V10D. I am not responsible for what you do to your device after reading this guide. You undertake any actions at your own risk!
If you want to thank someone, please thank qaz753 who posted the method for this here.
All files needed are attached, the guide below is for Windows, but Linux and Mac scripts are included in the zip. (If certain files are not permitted to be attached, MODs please excuse and PM me, and I will look into hosting them myself)
GUIDE
Download, Unzip and Install the LG USB Driver.
Download and extract the Root kit (o4xr.zip) to "C:\o4xr"
Download and copy "IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk" to your phone
On your phone, go to "Settings -> Security" and make sure "Unknown Sources" is TICKED
Go to "Settings -> Developer options" and make sure "USB debugging" is TICKED
Install "IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk"
Open the "SystemBackupTest" app you just installed.
Hold the power button and choose "Power off and restart".
When you can see the lock screen, you may notice that the phone is running very slowly, this is normal.
Connect your phone via USB to your computer.
Make sure the phone is in "Charging Only" mode.
Open a command prompt (may need admin privelages, right click, run as administrator)
Type without quotes "cd C:\o4xr" and press enter.
Type without quotes "root" and press enter.
Wait while the script runs, and the phone will reboot automatically.
You should then see the command prompt "C:\o4xr>".
Uninstall the "SystemBackupTest" app on your phone. (Do NOT re-open it, or you will need to run the script again).
On your phone, open up Google Play Store and search for "SuperSU".
Update SuperSU then open it.
Press OK to update the SU binary.
You now have root and can safely restore the "Unknown Sources" and "USB debugging" settings back to how you had them!
The root kit and apk may contain other peoples work, I did a quick search to try and find the original sources but to no avail. If this is your work, please PM me and I will be more than happy to add your name to this post and give credit where its due.
HAVING ISSUES?
Try disabling any Anti-Virus you have running
Uninstall or disable any screen filters/adjusters
You can safely re-enable and re-install the above once you have completed root
If your device is really slow, make sure "USB Debugging" is ticked, then run in a command prompt:
REALLY SLOW AFTER ROOT?
Remove the "SystemBackupTest" app, if you haven't already.
On your phone, go to "Settings -> Developer options" and make sure "USB debugging" is TICKED
Connect your phone via USB to your computer.
Make sure the phone is in "Charging Only" mode.
Open a command prompt (may need admin privelages, right click, run as administrator)
Type without quotes "cd C:\o4xr" and press enter.
Type without quotes "adb shell rm /data/local.prop" and press enter.
Type without quotes "adb reboot" and press enter.
THANKS

atipon, for reducing the reboots to 1.

Did you make sure "Unknown Sources" is ticked under Settings -> Privacy?
Otherwise can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing? (Press and hold Vol Down + Power at the same time)
Works on v10b?
i can show this screen but can't type the install..
but the cancel key is ok
i've ticked the unknow sources
So I assume the Install button does nothing?
I noticed you have avast running, can you disable it, and then try again? It may be blocking it.
I will try this, looking forward for the all the possibility for this phone

Have you tried rebooting the phone and trying again? Also where is the apk located, just on the SD card?

Thx to the Member brant34 of 4pd.ru who has uploaded the new Version from HiSuite.
The only Problem was that the Language was in Chinese, but i found a simple fix for that:
After you install the prog (you don't need to deinstall the old one, just update)
go to your'e userfolder than AppData/Local/HiSuite/userdata
(for this you need to unblock hidden files in foldersettings)
and open UserSettings.xml with an editor
change this Line:
Code:
<utpsdoc>
<language>
<active>[COLOR="Red"]_de[/COLOR]</active>
to your'e Language code example en:
Code:
<utpsdoc>
<language>
<active>[COLOR="Red"]_en-us[/COLOR]</active>
Now you can start the Programm :highfive:
You can find all available Language codes under
Win 32bit
C Programms/HiSuite/LanguageFiles/
Win 64bit
C Programms (x86) /HiSuite/LanguageFiles/
DOWNLAOD
This version is now also in SK language
others must be checked

My test machine is running windows 7 64bits with Windows Firewall Control to manage permissions, it depends on your configuration. Hisuite also called home at 44% progress during backup and resumed after connection failed.
Adb needs also to connect to localhost so if you didnt add a rule for that you shouldnt need one now.
In case is of any use, this is how I updated:
I installed over v1.8, during pc installation and before choosing target path I took a copy of hisuite.apk from windows temp folder and installed it by hand on my device so it upgraded to v2.3.35. I also saved a copy of .apk on sdcard
After checking backup and restore worked ok I tested backward compatibility: I connected the phone to another pc with hisuite 1.8, which replaced hisuite.apk with an older version. Disconnected and back to test machine with latest version which failed to connect and transfer .apk, I then updated manually to latest hisuite.apk. on the phone and worked.
it seams latest hisuite.apk is not backward compatible.
I also found what I believe is a nice feature, under contacts -> message there is a button to place calls from the desktop.
Test it together with 'Speaker Mode' apk and worked ok!

Type fastboot devices and see if a device name tag gets listed. If not, it means you haven't installed the usb drivers correctly.
Are you on Windows 8 or 10?
To install ADB and Fastboot drivers on Windows 8 and 10, a forum member posted the following solution:
1. Uninstall all drivers for HTC phone
2. Install latest HTC Sync Manager
3. Connect phone in normal mode
4. Connect phone in fastboot mode (system reports unrecognized device)
5. Run regedit as administrator
6. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\usbflags
7. Right-click on usbflags, click new > key, name it 0BB40FF00100
8. Select 0BB40FF00100 and in the right window right click > new > binary value
9. Rename created binary value to SkipBOSDescriptorQuery
10. Right click SkipBOSDescriptorQuery > modify binary data, type 01 00 00 00 , click ok
11. Unplug usb cable and plug again.
12. In fastboot cmd window type fastboot devices, press enter and see if your device is listed
You can also try WinDroid, it works with Desire 500

Can i use disable driver signature enforcement in windows 8.1 to use adb for this device?Without modifying registry only allow unsigned driver.
Hi all,
I really need your help, my computer doesn't recognize the phone in fastboot, I've installed different drivers and none of them work, in device manager it appears as Android with the yellow exclamation mark. I've already enabled USB Debugging mode, not sure what am I missing, please help.
Check in another USB Port, use original xiaomi's wire...and install latest USB drivers
I have the same problem, i'm using the original xiaomi wire and already installed lastest usb drivers.. the fact is that when I plug in the cell phone in fastboot mode the computer keeps sounds as connecting and disconnecting the device (I used two wires and two different computers)
Yup exact same thing, I hope somebody knows how to fix it and help us out.
Try with mi flash tool software for the computar... And let the program install the original firmware again... I think you can get rid of the problem

Hi, where do I get the USB drivers? Even the official website says to make sure that "your PC has necessary drivers", but they don't provide any link where you can get them.
The Unlock Tool only has a "Check" button next to the version number, which says "5.5.224.24(Already latest)" and again, no drivers check. There are tons of fishy websites that claim to have the drivers and I have already tried several of them, but no success. Your help would be much appreciated.

Hi, after almost 2 days of constant researching and trying and failing and testing, I have finally figured it out! You need two things: MediaTek Driver and disabling Driver Signature Enforcement in Windows 10. It's because normally, the (64-bit) Windows 10 system won't allow you to install an unsigned driver and the Mediatek Driver is unsigned.
Here are the steps:
1. Press the Windows key on your keyboard, open PC settings
2. Go to Update & Security
3. Go to Recovery tab
4. Press & hold Shift key on your keyboard and click the Restart now button (in the Advanced startup section)
5. Select Troubleshoot ->Advanced setup -> Startup Settings and press Restart
6. Press 7 number key corresponding to "Disable driver signature enforcement" entry.
The system will now boot with the Driver Signature Enforcement disabled (it's going to be automatically enabled with the next restart). Download the Mediatek Driver (official source), unzip the file. Here's how I installed the driver:
1. Press the Windows key, type Device Manager and open the utility program
2. Click the top item in the list (your PC's name) and click Action in the menu and select Add Legacy Hardware.
3. Click Next in the Wizard, select Install hardware manually, and again Next and Next again.
4. Click Have Disk, Browse, navigate to the unzipped folder: SmartPhoneDriver > x64 > Unsigned infs and select the file android_winusb.inf. Click OK and select Media Tek Inc. in the left pane and then Next and Finish.
Your phone will now finally appear in the Unlock Tool.
This should work for all Note 10s users who also happen to have a 64-bit Windows 10 machine. Let me know how it went for you.
hey Guys, i´m new in the forum. But i had the same problem and i´m bringing the solution.
This error happens because Windows doesn´t recognize the bootloader, then you must install manually the bootloader´s driver and connect again your phone, so simple. I´m attaching the driver in this post.
Cheers.
download google usb driver: https://developer.android.com/studio/run/win-usb
connect phone to pc in fastboot mode. then go to device manager and update related driver named: android.
choose have disk and select Android_USB.inf file. then highlight Android bootloader interface and install driver. in win 10 must disable driver signature verification

After searching for a long time, I found that this is the solution that works 100%. At last I was able to register the unlock of the bootloader today after a week of searching how to do it, since the driver did not work, thank you.
Hello!
I wanted to unlock my bootloader on my Redmi Note 11, but I have ran into a problem. It won't detect it in fastboot.exe or the Mi Unlock tool. I already:
Installed the Google USB driver
Updated the Mi Unlock tool, My phone, Windows
Enabled USB debugging & OEM unlocking
Booted the device in fastboot mode (Orange text saying FASTBOOT)
Can anyone help? Thanks.

Is the cable good and is there a normal connection for data exchange with the phone?
Are you using the USB port from the motherboard?
Does the adb devices command work and can you see the device?

Thanks for your reply
The cable is in perfect condition, it was shipped with my phone and it works.
No I am using the one on the case, I am not sure on how it will affect this in any way but I am gonna try it.
Nope, ADB doesn't report anything
yo!
this happened to me also, i did fixed it by installing the fastboot driver
1. download the attachment below.
2. then extract it, a folder called 'Fastboot driver' should appear.
3. now, press Win+R, and a Run window should appear.
4. copy paste this 'devmgmt.msc' (without the quotation) into it, press OK.
5. Device Manager should appear. On top left, go to Action -> Add Drivers.
6. Browse to the 'Fastboot driver' folder, select it, click OK and then click Next.
7. after 'Drivers successfully installed', click Close.
now if things goes right, fastboot should be detected by now.
if not, idk tbh
