Hey everyone. I just bought the Samsung Smart dock. Everything seems fine, but there is one Problem. If i watch a Video in Fullscreen, the control buttons disappear and don't show, if i move the Mouse...the Cursor doesn't show either on my TV, only on my Phone. Anyone can tell me how to fix this Problem? Thanks in advance.
I'm pretty sure if you click on the bottom where the controls are supposed to be they will show up.
That's how I got mine to show up.
Can't hover..you have to actually click on the bottom as if it was already showing.
Edit...I'm pretty sure the pointer shows on mine though...

Once you connect external keyboard, you won't need to touch your phone. Phone screen is blank with keyboard attached.

Now i can guess why this isn't working so well. Im using a Wireless Keyboard+Mouse combination through a stick ( not bluetooth). The Phone doesn't show the Keyboard in the drop down menü at all, but the Keyboard works though. This must be the Reason.
Does anyone know a trick, where i could make my phone think, that a usb keyboard is plugged?
EDIT: Found a trick. I just plugged in an another USB Mouse and the display of the Phone turned off. Now everything works great. Its a waste of a USB slot, but im ok with that...better than buying new Wireless Keyboard and Mouse.
EDIT: Its laggy somehow, if 2 Mouses are connected. I need a way, to modify the USB reciver of the Mouse/Keyboard. Anyone can tell me, how to get access to a USB devices, to modify it?

Try pluging a USB flash drive instead of the usb mouse and see if the wireless one will work OK

The lag might be because of the screen turning off. I currently have that issue. When I plug in a wired mouse, the screen on the phone turns off but the output over HDMI gets really laggy. It happens even when you only have the wired mouse connected without any other USB peripherals. I haven't found a workaround for it yet.
The case is... hardware video overlay.
To be more specific:
1) whenever a hw-decoded video is played, it is handled by GPU only (-> only video surface is rendered, no software overlay controls, etc. available via HDMI)
2) you can force software rendering ("composition") by attaching an external USB HID device (mouse/keyboard, but keep in mind that a USB RF receiver for mouse/keyboard does not trigger renderer switch) - both video and overlay controls will be available via HDMI but with a degraded performance ("software rendering")
I do the following: use external mouse, etc. to select a desired video, click 'play' and then disconnect the USB accessory.
Tell me about the smart dock, it looks like it should be charging a spare battery in the back but I didn't read that anywhere in the description... Also you can only use it in portrait mode?? What's up with that? I find it hard to get over these 2 hurdles for $99.

The back of the device has hdmi out, micro usb port for power and 3.5mm jack for audio out to externally powered speakers. Initially it will only work in portrait but you can either use a launcher or you can use the app Ultimate Rotation Control to force the phone into landscape, even on the homescreens. Either option works well. The phone also come with a 2A charger as well. For $99, a keyboard and mouse (logitech k400 is awesome!) a few play store apps and a little time to get everything setup just the way you want, you will have a fully functional mobile computer.
When I disconnect my phone I use the rotation app to go back to auto and my phone functions just the way it normally does. Stupid simple.

video decoding method isn't the only cause of lag.
in desktop mode there is quite a performance drop even when not playing any video files.
you can test this with 3dmark, your score will be average when using screen mirroring, but it will drop by 10% when in desktop mode (single screen)
Has anyone possibly figured out a way to disable or remove the Galaxy Note 2's "desktop mode" switch? I have a USB mouse which I would love to use with it (don't want to spend extra $ on a bluetooth mouse), so I was thinking that the problem could be solved if the automatic detection of the mouse and subsequent switch to "desktop mode" could be disabled somehow. Thoughts?
Hi guys, can you please link products do connect Mi 8 on a external Display?
If you have one, can you put links here?
I'm trying to find a way to use on my TV
The are usb type-c to hdmi converters.
Anyway, the maximum speed of the USB on this mobiles is really slow (30MB/s). It's theoretically able to provide a good video but in practice it's not.
mi 8 don't support mhl over usb c so it's not possible
I'm using mibox 3. it works good.
I am also interested in this subject. I do have a multimedia car stereo with HDMI in and I would like to mirror the MI8 to it (to watch movies or the navigation app).
I did understand that it doesn't support MHL or whatever BUT I was wondering if there is any other options (Displaylink as example) that is compatible to use in car (so that is not needed to be powered or that can be powered thru usb and that doesn't need WiFi).
Any help/idea?

It works with mi8? what laptop model is?
i use apowermirror installed on both PC and Cellphone (make search over google, it's easy), connect PC to the phone through USB or WIFI and have phone display on PC and viceversa, can make plenty of settings and quality... this way then i have the PC connected on my main high quality TV and there we go, no latency high quality phone on TV and i use it for gaming for example connect bluetooth gamepad to the phone, launch high quality android games such as life is strange and played with high experience on TV, this as usefull when i was sick and ill at home and had no good pc and no consoles.... was a very good experience.... the only downside is that apowermirror can transmit in "FULL SCREEN" only with paid VIP pro version.

Hi! I'm planning on using my phone with a displaylink docking station and shadow to have something like a desktop gaming station on low budget. I couldn't figure though which displaylink product provides 4k display capabilities as well as power to the phone. I'd appreciate any tips on that as I couldn't figure it out on my own. Thanks in advance!
As i read, Mi 8 doesn't support MHL.

Oh sr. I misunderstood 2 conceptions.
I read in the document that you need USB 3 to export 4K. Mi 8 is USB 2.0.
I'm interested on a similar setup with displayLink or other screen sharing solution without latency
So I got one of these:
https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/2uu1qfWs
It works with it, but... It's lagging, sluggish, and slow, and LOT of latency (100-600ms(ish)).
When there is a video playing on the screen, horizontal, it's okay, because only part of the screen is getting refreshed.
But when I switch to vertical playback, it's only around 5-17 fps, depending how much of the screen have to refresh.
BUT probably only lagging, because it's 1080p.
Whe n I tried with a portable USB screen (this one : https://www.amazon.com/MIMO-TOUCH2-7-inch-Touchscreen-Monitor/dp/B0052Z996E) it was fine. But the resolution os only 720p (or less?).
So.... Still better to have a chrome cast ultra... Maybe? I didn't tried it yet, only chrome cast, and it was okay (except the audio... It was bad.)
Hellos everyone ..I want to connect my mi8 to a display to use it for e-learning with Skype app..
What extra accessories needed ? I want everything working by phone camera, mic , only the screen I want to transfer without lagging with cable of course...thanks
Hello guys, I have a big question here,
As you may know, red magic 3 do not have its own screen recording, so you will need to use app with that crappy sound via mic or root it to install a bunch of things to can use internal audio, but i don't want that, i want to stream and record gameplays with very good audio and good video quality, the question is the next: will the capture card elgato HD60s works with this phone? i mean, i can use an HDMI splitter to can use usb type c to hdmi and bypass the block thing but i'm not sure, maybe someone knows more about this, will this phone be able to send audio via the usb type-c port?

True.. I just will buy a new phone because that, since i like to stream sometimes
This is a valid concern. Oneplus 6 had no USB to HDMI. I din't care, but some people might.
Does this phone actually have USB to HDMI hardware?

Nope as they told me in the chat some days ago in facebook messenger
Your phone seems on Global ROM. CN rom has a built-in screenrecorder that can record internal sound.
You have an option to flash your phone to CN rom.
I haven't tried using capture card or USB-C to HDMI.
I have a CN Rom Nubia Red Magic 3, but when I stream to youtube, fb live, i use Android screen mirror with OBS
This video taught me how to do it.

u will need a micro usb to HDMI connector (local shop or AliExpress) and external speakers to use the phone as a TV box
Not all apps will be supported - streaming apps like PrimeVideo, Netflix etc however other are ok to use like Youtube, kodi, etc
You can use either a bluetooth remote or mouse as controller and an external speaker for better audio
I am using the Floyd ROM on my SN5 and its working just fine
