I know a lot of people share the same issue as me and i don't think it has ever been fixed or they have any desire to fix it. When i'm using my headset my mic suddenly goes mute i have to either unplug it and re plug it in. Or turn on and off the speaker but its a hassle. This is the same issue i had with my zte axon 7 which was frustrating. I'm extremely disappointed because its a great phone. Not sure if anyone has a solution to this or is having the same issue. I returned my pixel xl for this phone and its great but as person who is constantly using the headset its such a pain to deal with it.

If you were having the same problem on your other device then maybe it's your headset?
Lmao, it's your headphones.. I'm dying. Lol
"If everywhere you go smells like crap, maybe it's time to smell your own shoes" applies very well here xD Probably your headphones yeah...
No I have tried multiple headsets and if you read on the one plus forums and look it up it's actually a problem a lot of people have. I wish it was my headphones but it's not tried several pairs new and old. Only have this issue on this phone they work perfect on my iPhone pixel and nexus 6p.
I have recently got my hands on mi mix from hongkong. Sold to me by a dealer in dubai. I love this phone. Out of the world looks but earpiece volume is too low and becomes lower with case on. It's too fragile to be used without case. I tried calling xiaomi customer care uae. Tbey gave me the bad news that it has no warranty and further said it doesn't seem to be hardware issue. I was too eager to get this phone so i got the china rom version. Will changing to eu rom will help. Is there any beta global rom?
Any suggestions, what shall i do?
Hi. I'm in dubai as well and got mine couple weeks ago. Love it so far.
I have tried all the roms and eu is the latest one I'm running at the moment.
The earpiece takes some time getting used to.

I'm considering buying this phone but the call volume does worry me a little. Is the call quality good clear or muffled?

Some think it is low, some normal. Might be personal preference or cases used.

The sound is normal, is good.
I wear hearing aids and normally prefer a bluetooth headset for better volume levels. That said, the volume and clarity of the Mix headset speaker is as good, if not better, than my samsungs, Mi Max (sold) or Phab 2 Pro (returned after a week). In fact, without my hearing aids the volume and clarity are quite good. Over the past 6 years I have rooted each of my samsung phones (s2 and notes 1 through 5) specifically so I could edit the appropriate file (mm is mixer_paths in system/ect) to increase the volume. No need (for me) with my Mix. I'm very happy with this device.
I've moved the phone around, and while there may be some difference listening to the middle vs edge of the phone, I find either satisfying and clear.
Call quality and volume was one of my biggest concerns after reading some of the reviews and was one the main things i checked prior to buying. I was pleasantly surprised the call volume quality was pretty pretty good, no real complaints. Very pleased.
It's low & gets lower with the case.
I understand why. Because of the speaker-less technology they used.
Is anyone having bluetooth issues with this phone? I continue to have the same issues carried over from the V30 to the G7 and now the V40. Specifically, when I connect the phone to my 2012 Subaru Legacy head unit, I get static on calls, but not when I stream media. It is quite frustrating that this company cannot sort out the bluetooth problems. For the record, it seems specific to a few vehicles, notably Subarus. My Galaxy S9 Plus does not have this problem., nor does my wife's iPhone.
Can't speak for Subaru but my Nissan Murano 2016 doesn't have any issues at all. Audio/Music and calls are all working as expected.
No issues with Ford's Sync 3.
Must be the lingering issue common to Subaru vehicles. It really is a shame that, from the V30 to the G7 to the V40, the problem continues. But, again, most users are not having this problem. Unfortunately, it keeps me from keeping this phone.

Out of curiosity I would try a stand alone bluetooth audio device that feeds into the head unit to bypass the factory bluetooth just to see what happens. Have you tried moving the phone around to see if it's getting interference from something? Just to test it out try connecting from inside your house and then go out to the car without your phone and see if you still have noise issues.
I can say one thing for a fact: Subaru Bluetooth sucks to the max. I've already replaced the head unit in my Outback due to Bluetooth issues and had some static or "road noise" as they say at the dealer on my WRX and thus won't replace it.

Enable the Developer Settings, and spend sometime monkeying with the Bluetooth AVCRP version and other Bluetooth related settings such as CODEC. this may solve your issue.
I'll have to try this. Thanks

I came thisclose to doing that. I was concerned that I would lose some functionality. However, I may still change the HU.

I tried bypassing the Subaru HU as you suggested, It was a cumbersome setup that caused other problem. With the V40, the static seems to be worse when the phone is in my pocket than out (the opposite of the v30). I also hear a difference when I move the phone around the car. At this point I have returned the phone. However, I am seriously considering giving it a second chance, because 1) great deals are to be had, 2) it is an underappreciated phone that I really like, much like the V30. and 3) I know the issue is the Subaru HU, not the phone. If I do purchase again, I will do some serious trouble shooting.

Yup. If I give the V40 another shot (I am leaning in that direction), I will do that
Thanks for the tips, folks. I really appreciate it.

I might have thought something like that too. But when I had the V30, I had a similar (not exact) issue that others reported (suggesting a subaru issue in general, not my HU in particular). I have also had the HU looked at twice. Finally, It works well with my wife's iphone and my soon-to-be-sold GS9 Plus.
Not to rub it in, but the Bluetooth is working perfectly on all three cars, the OONZ(?) and the BOSE System at home.
Hope you get it sorted out.
EDIT: My phone is the V40 ThinQ - Verizon

I work at Subaru, and the head unit is causing a lot of issues. Have your dealership perform an audio unit software update.. (crosstrek/outback/forester)

I did request an update for my Legacy about six weeks ago. The problem persists. Definitely an issue with the head unit. Thanks for confirming this.
I have decided to replace the head unit. More and more phones are having issues with it (V30, G7, V40, OnePlus 6, OnePlus 6T) and so at this point it is worth it to replace the HU. It seems as if the problem is spreading to other phones (software incompatibility, perhaps?) rather than being limited to LG's phones.

You're welcome, its seems to be the head unit, as a matter of fact i ordered a new one today for 2018 forester. Its even worse on iPhones, because whenever Apple updates vthe software Subaru would have to update the units to be compatible (Harmon Cardon).. Definitely not the phone, seems like you have tested with other phones and problem still persists.
Early leaked information mentioned "Xiaomi claims sound has also been improved with 'industry's best linear speaker', equivalent to 0.9cc large speaker box with deeper bass, Smart PA uses dynamic gain to amplify sound by 100%".
Has there been any real life reviews of the speaker quality as of yet?

"Loudspeaker
A lot of things have changed since the Mi 8, but the loudspeaker is not one of them. We were disappointed to find out that the Mi 9 doesn't boast stereo speakers. Instead, it has the same bottom-firing loudspeaker as the Mi 8 and it even scored the same Very Good mark at our loudness test."

Very conflicted on this, on one hand Xiaomi seem to be confident that the Mi 9's speaker has improved & have advertised it like shown on the article yet the GSMArena review claims the speaker is basically identical to the Mi 8, keen to see what other reviewers say

Yeah I am.
Currently got the Pixel 2 XL and whilst I'm sure the speakers won't be anywhere near as good as these stereo ones, I'm very curious about "Xiaomi claims sound has also been improved with 'industry's best linear speaker', equivalent to 0.9cc large speaker box with deeper bass, Smart PA uses dynamic gain to amplify sound by 100%"

Hoping they announce a Global transparent edition, if not I'll probably end up with the standard one
Speaker for me is a decent single speaker, coming from OnePlus 6t with there single speaker its better imo.
It's got a decent amount of bass to it!
Bring back the glory of stereo speaker just like Mi6 then?
Hi guys,
Quick question, do any of you own a pair of the AirPods Pro and use them with your Pixel 4 XL? I cant seem to get the microphone working. Everything else works as advertised. (Play/Pause/Noise cancellation/etc)
Thanks in advance,
Sam
And if this isn't the proper forum to ask? Maybe Reddit?
Maybe no one can answer your question cause nobody else uses Apple AirPods with a Google Pixel. I'm waiting for Google Pixel Buds 2 to be released.

I wouldn't have possibly guessed that would have been the first response I got. Thanks so much for your helpful insight! :good: I'm waiting with bated breath to hear about your experience with the Google Pixel Buds 2.
Back to the subject at hand though.
No, I can't imagine many people use that combination, but if you are unhappy with them and want noise cancellation buds, you are better off with the Sony WF1000XM3's
I do. Except for autopaus when removing them from my ears they work great.

So you're using the new AirPods Pro with a Pixel 4 XL and can confirm the microphone(s) works with calls?
I don't have the new Pros but I do have AirPods 2 and they work fine in terms of the mic.
I know it's not too much help since it's not the same AirPods model but I thought I'd share anyway for you to hopefully get to the bottom of your issue!

Alright great, thank you. I initially set up the Airpods Pro with my Macbook. It gave an option of have the microphone auto switch between both buds. I think I'll try setting it to right or left always, and see if that works.
I'll report my findings.
I have the AirPods Pro and used them successfully with the Pixel 4 XL. My first pairing attempt was not good for some reason. I was getting a lot of feedback. Second time around it worked without issues. I handled several calls with them, also without issues. I would say if you're having problems you want to first try to forget and re-pair. If that does not work you should get the AirPods Pro checked when paired with an iPhone and see if the same issue persists. Last resort is you can always get them replaced at an Apple store and see if the new pair behaves better.

I had this happen on occasion with my AirPod Gen 1's. I did try forgetting/re-pairing my AirPod Pros 3x. The microphone just started working randomly with my Pixel 4XL a few days into owning them. I accidentally answered a call with them on out of habit and they worked.
If you have a friend with an iPhone or iPad pair them and let them sit charging for 30 minutes so that they update to the latest firmware. Mine were a bit glitchy at launch. After the latest firmware they're great, and I switch the airpods pros out during a call and the mic pics up whichever one was in my ear.
Pixel 4 here and great after the update.

Slightly OT but I'm wondering how the AirPod Pros are in general? Thinking of purchasing.
Do the rubber tips give you that "sealed ear" feeling? Because I try to avoid that.
Also, with my AirPods 2, I notice I can't get max volume unless I disconnect them, enable absolute volume, reconnect and then disable absolute volume. Is this the same with Pros?
I'd love to hear your two cents!

I successfully upgraded my AirPods Pro firmware last night. I connected them to a power source and left the case open and sitting next to my iPad for about ten minutes before noticing it upgraded. I had no trouble using them on my way to work today. I'll use them on some calls during the day and report back my findings. Thanks for showing me this.

Coming from the first generation AirPods, I prefer the AirPods Pro. I do miss being able to tap to pause. However, I quickly got used to the new squeeze feature.
The AirPods Pro are in ear so they do form a "seal". That being said they have a noise cancellation and a transparency mode. You may prefer transparency mode since it lets you hear whats going on around you. I use this when I order coffee/food in public for example. It's quite nice.
As far as the max volume issue goes. I also experienced that on occasion with my first generation AirPods, but have not yet experienced it on the Pros.
Hope this helps.

I already setup a return for my Razer Hammerhead True Wireless earbuds. The case lid is super flimsy and overall everything feels like cheap plastic.
Not a fan of iPhones but gotta give credit to Apple for their computers and AirPods. They did a fantastic job with those!
