Hi,
I've got 7'' screen and side panel takes a lot of space and doesn't look good. Is there any way to turn it off except downgrading andoid auto?

Hello All... a lurker, finally a poster
Loaded windows 7... thanks guys, much faster.... loaded as per instructions all looks sweet...
however I seem to have refresh problems on the desktop in w7... screen goes black when sleeping and when it wakes up it does not refresh, have to write click and refresh desktop, taskbar also has the same problem...
anybody else got this problem and anybody with a solution?
TIA
I've got this problem too, but no solution. Seems to really only occur in the 1024x600 mode though.
I've got the same issue, doesn't bother me much though.. it is kinda annoying when you have to tap certain parts of the screen just to get it to show up.
It's a general problem with Win 7 on screen resolutions greater that 1024. You may fix it by disabling screen shuting down / by enabling screensaver!
sort of fixed it.....
turned off the power saving function that turns the screen off and turned the screen save on to display a blank screen.
so semi-fixed....
simple workaround
just double click on the W7 "show desktop" button (right-down corner of your taskbar)
this button is allways on the same place, so it also works "blind" with a black screen (and will refresh the full screen also from powersaving)
The auto-rotate screen not working properly after six months. He turns on his left side, does not turn back. After turning off \ activate the screen image back to a vertical position.
When did wipe it stops rotating on the left side at all.
This effect appears after 2 hours of phone. Helps restart.
Who was it?
Andorid 4.1.2, stock.
Try this app if rotation is giving you problems:

I have been getting a black screen, now and then with ota 5.1, unlocked but not rooted, US Cellular. Has anyone experienced this? If so, what is your experience? Found any fixes (other that workarounds)??
Symptom: black screen, lower and upper bars appear and seem to be functional.
The best workaround seems to be to twist start the camera, then hit the on/off button to put to sleep and then wake it up. The reason for the on/off trick is because the back/home/recent buttons on the bottom don't function. Oddly, after the workaround, going back into camera, those buttons work.
To me, is seems to be an app issue, which one, I don't know. Maybe something putting it to sleep, or something with the screen lock/phone lock 'features'. A bugger to track down.
I got a white carlinkit dongle and I can not get full display when I connect my phone to my android auto. The display is like cinema mode. I would like to turn it to full screen so i can everything on the screen.
Thank you for your time. any help will be much appreciate.
I got the same problem but in the other way. I got a large screen and the image is stretched horizontally
When the black swipe up to unlock screen comes up on my phone while I'm using Android Auto with my car, the software runs really slow and it's all around incredibly choppy - the map lags, and the UI is just unusable. However, when I swipe up to unlock and have my phone being usable, Android Auto runs crisply smooth - so there's something wrong when the lock screen comes up.
Any suggestions on what I can try? I re-installed AA multiple times already.
Edit: realized actually AA becomes very slow when the screen is completely off.

I was also facing the very same problem on my android 11 device . And I just found a very weird solution to this accidentally . You just connect your android auto to your car then unlock your phone and make a phone call from your phone while it's connected to android auto and then lock your phone as usual and cut the phone call from your android auto screen in your car and then android auto will run smoothly.... AA is a mess in android 11 I hope they fix it fast.
