I've been a Sprint user for years and have used PdaNet to tether my phone to my pc using usb and having internet that way. I'm currently using a Galaxy S10+ and doing this, does this app work with this model phone too? I'd like to upgrade to the S21 Ultra but want to make sure this method still works. Are there any issues with PdaNet on the S21 Ultra, or specifically with Sprint and this model phone when using the app? Thank you.
I'm thinking of testing this, but I want to find out if the test will be relevant to you.
If you are using a Sprint SIM card, or if you are connecting to a Sprint tower, maybe we'll have different results.
I'm a Sprint customer pre-merger. I have the S21 Ultra. I now use a T-Mobile SIM card, *NOT* Sprint SIM card. They configured my phone to connect to T-mobile towers. I live near several strong T-mobile towers. I can connect via 5G or 4G, but I turned off 5G to save battery because I'm usually connected to home wifi.
What is your situation in terms of type of SIM card and which towers you connect to?
I have an old LG G6 phone that still has a Sprint SIM card, and still connects to the old Sprint towers. The performance is quite different.
Anyone have any luck? I have an s21 ultra with legacy sprint plan running a sprint sim, not the updated T-Mobile Sim. I have tried PDA Net but I believe the phone was just passing along the home wifi connection and not the data connection on the phone.

So I have a bit of a situation that I need to get some answers on. Right now I have a Galaxy S2 i9100 which I bought from expansys back in 2011 when it first hit the market. I've been grandfathered into my unlimited non-smartphone data on AT&T and I was able to use my old 3g sim card on the S2 to and got full blown 4g and 4g+ speeds and service without ever having changed my plan or sim card.
Now here's what I want to know: I plan to get the Xperia Z2 (unlocked and imported, not through any carrier) and I want to be able to use LTE service, but without changing my plan. I know the Z2 uses a micro-sim, but I want to know if I will need to get a new sim card (or can I just cut my regular sim) also will I be able to get LTE with my old sim card? *OR* if it turns out I need a new sim card will I be able to use LTE with it and still keep my unlimited-non smartphone data plan? Will it raise any suspicions? Will using LTE automatically cause my data plan to change?
If anyone has information on this please let me know, Thank you.
Jus go to an AT&T store and have them get you a new micro Sim....put it in one of their store model LTE phones then convert your current plan to allow LTE (doesn't change anything just allows LTE and yes you have to do that otherwise you can't get LTE). Once that is done and the phone works fine take the Sim out and put it in your Z2 and you are off and running.
You have do put the Sim in an AT&T recognized LTE device, meaning one they offer, in order to get the account setup right. After that you can put it in any LTE device and it will work.

(I posted this in both the T-Mobile Note 3 and AT&T Note 3 forum)
So, every once in a while it will connect to the T-Mobile/MetroPCS (I have MetroPCS but since MetroPCS uses T-Mobile Towers, it (SHOULD) work and has in the past)
On my Samsung Galaxy Core Prime that I bought from the MetroPCS Store, it works absolutely perfectly.
It always is connected to the T-Mobile network.
But this phone, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (AT&T -- BUT I flashed Alliance Rom for T-Mobile, so it has a T-Mobile ROM) will not connect. As I've said before, if I get it at the right time, which is completely unpredictable and restart my phone it will connect but 10 minutes later it will disconnect and tell me "Selected Network (T-Mobile) is Unavailable"
Before, when I had the stock ROM (Lolipop AT&T) it did the same thing Except when it disconnected it would tell me "Phone not allowed MM#6"
The IMEI is valid and not blocked.
I do have service
I manually set the carrier to T-Mobile and also quick note when I click "Search networks" it only gives me T-Mobile, AT&T and Virizon (But it does only these three on my Core Prime too)
This phone IS UNLOCKED
and my Sim card is also Unlocked
And also, I have tested another Samsung Galaxy Core Prime's Sim card with this phone ( I have this phone, and one of my family members does too and also has MetroPCS )
It did the same thing
THOUGH when I tested with my other family members Cricket SIM card, it worked Perfectly!
Cricket, uses AT&T Towers from what I remember. So this makes me think that the phone, since it is AT&T it will connect to AT&T over everything else no mattter what I do. So,
Do any of you think buying a T-Mobile varient of this phone (Note 3) would fix the problem? Instead of this AT&T varient?
I also tested this with a Blu Studio Energy 2 (It is not carrier specified) and had the same problem. It would work but sometimes it wouldn't and there was no way to guarentee it not disconnecting, and no way to put it back on the network that I knew of it just happened at random
If I put my sim card in my Core Prime, turn it on then turn it off and put it in my Note 3, it will connect for a couple seconds.
ANY HELP -- Would be appreciated.
I fixed this by myself.
I didn't realize this, but you need to call MetroPCS and add your new phone's IMEI.
Hi
I have a s6 from Metro and the phone is unlocked. The issue I am having is the phones are connecting to the hotspot from s6 but not getting any connection. I tried the same sim card(simple mobile) in another phone and the hotspot works fine also tried another sim card from diff carrier in the s6 that also works but for some reason the simple mobile sim is giving issue for hotspot on the s6 even though the apn is correct and I am getting 4G lte. Any help would be great. Thanks
Bump..
Getting same issue on another phone(S4 Active). Phone is getting error for H20 hotspot but not for another carrier, but when I put the H2O sim in different phone it works.
Just switched from verizon to tmobile. Thought I can just pop the sim in, adjust APN and be good to go but it didn't turn out that way. Two major issues: only getting 3g connection and unable to activate hotspot. Phone is not rooted but can root it easily. Are there stable fixes or should I just sale and get a tmobile phone? Thanks

There is a particular G4 model (H811) which has the highest compatibility with T-Mo US. So do you have that one, or something else? (eg the Verizon-specific model: VS986)
The H811 is 100% compatible with Tmo, the Verizon model is probably barely compatible. (Verizon's network was historically based on CDMA, and regular voice/SMS still travels on that network, unless you have VoLTE working on your device)
Also, you do not get hotspot capability on any T-Mobile plan. Currently I have 2 T-mo phones, my daily driver at the moment is still on Verizon. So I have a low-end SIM for T-Mobile (infamous online or Walmart $30/mo plan) which includes 5GB of monthly data but you cannot do tethering/hotspot with it.
Just turned this on, then inserted AT&T sim and it asked to reboot. Once done I was able to put in APN then turned on hotspot and set it all up. I got data on the phone, laptop can connect to hotspot but no internet. Playing with all the settings and still no internet on tethered devices. Did unlock version somehow download AT&T firmware and block tethering? Help?!
My unlocked phones have been doing this on at&t for a couple of months now. I think at&t just wised up to it somehow, but I'm unsure.
I am using hot spot right now..I do all day...using the FE on AT&T. No problems at all...but...I believe it depends on what plan you have!
I am on the unlimited elite so maybe that's the reason. Not sure why you would have to put in an APN??? THat should be automatically enabled when the SIM is installed.
