I can not send sms over 4g network with 4 bars, this happens most of the time and i also receive repeated messages upto 5 6 times, also mobile data works sometimes on 4g while on 3g internet works fine and i can send messages without any delays.
This happened to me , too. But not always and not to all numbers!
The problem may be carrier related, same thing ocurred in my zone, the service provider was making some changes when implementing 4.5G LTE
Do you have advanced messages turn on? Turn it off and try
I have a redmi 4x.
I am backed from cardinal aosp rom.
I am flashed miui 9 global stable rom by fastboot method.
Not working network search and 2g mode.
Please Help...

same problem here.. but little got a bit different
My XIAOMI REDMI 4X phone only can connect to 4G LTE and cannot find or receive 3G / 2G network signal.
Because of this problem i only can use one SIM at a time it coz when i use SIM1 for using mobile data, SIM2 will showing "No Network" this happen cause of SIM2 couldn't get 3G/2G network signal for its connection. Same issue if I switch SiM2 as my mobile data. SiM1 will be "No Network".
I really hope someone here could give me some solution to SOLVE this problem. also the SIM that i use to get mobile data it has problems that its cannot make out and receive any incoming call. Just regular Messaging are working.
another thing MMI short code also didn't work out it will pop-up with error msg like "cannot connect to server or no network connection" something like that.
This problem has haunted me more than a year and i still cannot get it fix. Need help because i am out of budget to buy new mobile phone .:crying::crying:
Hello.
I'm using MIUI 10 beta on my Xiaomi Mi8 phone.
And I'm getting this error message:
"find device can't activate SIM"
uplink_sms_limitation
When I tap on it I get this message:
"Can't activate SIM card"
uplink_sms_limitation
But strangely I can use my phone to make and receive calls.
What's the problem?
How can I solve it?
Exactly same situation here with my SIM2. I guess is something related to Mi Message app.
Is your SIM in roaming?
Mine is and my best bet is that the message is due to the system relying on some sort of free activation SMS which are not available on roaming.
My SIM1 is not on roaming and it works perfectly.
By the 22/SEP I will be traveling to my SIM1 country and will be able to confirm if that is the issue.

BTW same behaviour with any combination of MIUI version (9, 9.5,10), global or Chinese, beta, stable or xiaomi.eu that I've tried.

I've read I have to disable the "find my device service" and "Mi Cloud", maybe other Xiaomi services too. I'm just trying.
That can have some drawbacks though.
I'll flash Xiaomi.eu when I can unlock the bootloader. I hope it won't have this problems.
I'm not in roaming.
I have the same problem, mine is a Chinese version. I just long-hold the notification and choose to ignore it (it won't show again). I assume it's trying to activate it somewhere in the Chinese system.

Every time I reboot the phone it reappears.
Be careful not to accept because it sends SMS message (you pay).
solved
disable the "find my device service" worked for me and solved the issue
I have the Redmi K20 Pro and was able to fix this error. Go to Settings >> SIM cards & mobile networks >> Data roaming and set Overseas data roaming to "Always" (don't worry, this will only be for a few minutes). Let the activation services run again (you may have to repeat the activation attempt a few times), and your device should be able to activate the SIM and verify the phone number. When it's completed, you can turn the Overseas data roaming back to "Never."

man, you gennius!
I recently bought new phone Redmi 8 for my granny.
What I just have not tried it (language change, the exit from Mi account, restart, wait 10 minutes until the pass "activation" and so on...) - nothing helps! This evil notificatio has written off the money for a SMS - but the activation fails, you can imagine my despair hehe!?))
Then I googled this problem and accidentally find your comment - and it all solved instantly!I did steps as you wrote
Go to Settings >> SIM cards & mobile networks >> Data roaming and set Overseas data roaming to "Always"

...then reboot my phone - in the status bar once again see the activation request
bla bla bla ... Can't activate ...
REACH DOWNLINK SMS LIMITATION"
- click there and voila! Activation was instantly quick like a charm! Then - "Overseas data roaming" option back to "Never."
PS: for the statistics, I'm from Ukraine, Lifecell my operator - and your method can be confirmed as a universal and instant solution!
Didn't work to me.

I tried your way but didn't solve my problem, so i tried something else and it worked! so i wanted to add it here so viewers can try it tho:
go to apps manager and search for the app that has Blue Mi Logo, it's called "Xiaomi Service" or something like that.
press on the app go to the app permissions
here i have enabled SMS, Contacts, Phone and Storage and they i tried to activate the SIM Card and it worked directly.
I have redmi 8a and no OVERSEAS option under roaming, just plain roaming->always,never and for exceptions only, if I set it to always, problem persists, tried giving full permissions to xiaomi sim activation service and it didn't work either, :S , I am starting to regret getting this phone , until I can root it :/
Thank you so much it is working
Thank you so much it is working
Step 1: Go to settings, SIM card and mobile networks and make sure there are no spaces between your phone number. Sometimes when we copy paste a number it leaves spaces in between the numbers for example 07784 263465, make sure there is no spaces I.e. your number should be 07784263465 (P.S. I used a fake phone number to show as an example)
Step 2: enable the Data roaming service under settings to always. Settings, SIM cards and mobile networks, Data Roaming, Settings, Data Roaming to Always.
Step 3: Go to settings, Apps, Manage apps, search for and click Xiaomi SIM Activation service, click Clear cache then click App permissions, Enable all options. You can turn options off after the process is completed.
Step 4: restart your phone (you might want to do this although online I didn’t need to, I only clicked on the notification and it activated my second sim.) I didn’t have to go through this procedure for my first sim,it was activated straight away.
I also didn’t have to switch off my find my device option at first but reading here, I did switch it off and on again.
Hope this helps
Kind regards
Jay

its possible that you carrier does not allow overseas texting? It could also be an issue with your APN, manually add it if you need to.

Google the recommended APN settings for your carrier and make a note of them, I use the program by Google called Keep.
I google Vodafone and found this page
Select Settings.
Select SIM cards & mobile networks.
Select Your carrier under Sim card settings
Select Access Point Names.
Select New APN
Manually Add your carriers suggest APN settings.
Click save
Select newly created APN and test, You should be good to go.
Finally make sure that Data is enabled if testing Data.
I use Network Cell Info Lite - Mobile & WiFi Signal (Beta) for testing my network and optimizing my settings. get it here
Hello!
I hope someone can help me with this "little" problem that I'm experimenting with my Xiaomi mi 9T Pro running MIUI Global 10.3.3.0 (Stock) I checked everything before buying and the phone is fully compatible with my carrier (I'm from Venezuela), however, I noticed that when the phone is on 4G it switches to 3G/H/H+ in order to make/receive calls (which is pretty normal since my carrier does not support VoLTE). The problem comes when there is an incoming call, it should switch automatically to 3G/H/H+ BUT it does not happen all the time, in fact, I can say that it only happens 25% of the time when I was testing, of course, when it does not happen there is no way to receive the incoming call.
So far I tried:
- Forcing the phone to stay on 3G (everything works great)
- Testing the different network options (it switches from 4G to 3G but not always as it should)
- Switching from SIM slot 1 to slot 2
- At the moment the preferred network type is LTE/TD-SCDMA/UMTS (default)
Could it be a software issue? or could it be related to my carrier? I haven't tried using a SIM card from another carrier.
After all, I bought a PHONE that does not behave like an actual phone all the time, so, I hope someone can help me with this.
Thanks in advance.
Thank you, I almost thought I was the only one.
I bought my Xiaomi mi 9T Pro running MIUI Global 10.3.3.0 (Stock) a week ago and I have the same symptoms like you.
Im on A1 Network in Austria running default network settings and I realized after hours I couldn't make calls (and obviously did't receive any).
This is the first phone I had this network problems, and I am on A1 network for 20 years with different phones....
I hope someone can share some light why this happens and what are the best settings for European (Austrian) A1 network.
Trying to switch to LTE/UMTS, but that setting is always reset to the default above after reboot.
As its also my work phone it would be very bad not recognizing for hours that I'm not reachable...
Thank you !
A1 supports VoLTE, try to enable it on your phone, I have no issues running a dual SIM config with A1 and 3 .....

Hi! It feels better knowing that I'm not alone.
The fact is that I can actually make calls (it take from 3 to 5 seconds switching from 4G to 3G/H), the problem comes when there is an incoming call, sometimes it works (it switches to 3G/H and when the call is ended, it switches back to 4G) but most it does not. I just tried LTE/UMTS and it does work but not for long, I can see that it happens and sometimes it does not. I found a "solution" which involves forcing to 3G/H but it's not the point, there should be a real solution. At this moment, I haven't found a correct network configuration, all the ones that I've tried just have worked for me for some time, and then the problem is back without even rebooting the phone. Could it be caused by a faulty SIM or it's just a network/carrier issue? I don't want to think that it's a hardware issue.

Whats your ROM Version ?
I alreaddy tried to enable VoLTE, I can switch it on and the VoLTE Symbol appears.
The problem is - I have no caller ID. I don't even see the phone number when someone calls me ("unbekannter Anrufer" - "unknown caller")
That's not conveniant, so as soon as I switched OFF VoLTE caller recognition was enabled again.
Is VoWIFI working at you with A1 ? I can enable it but I don't get the symbot at home in my WIFI network.
So for now I see two options:
- the correct (stable) network configuration for Austria that persist in the phone configuration
- enabling VoLTE but with a solution for a working caller ID
I finally got found the solution
Problem is the notification settings.
This was somehow reset after the update to mui 11.
To fix the issue:
1. Go to settings
2. Click notification
3. Click the notification badges (3rd icon)
4. Find the "phone" icon
5. Enable the show notification
6. Exit to settings and test
Having same problem
Can someone help me I am from Malta and have Xiaomi mi9t pro and from last night stopped receiving calls and incoming . Tried with sim 1 and it worked but it happened again . I tried the notification settings but still the same problem .
I had trouble not receiving calls also...
After looking here, and also on YouTube, I started going through my phone again. I too was not getting my calls a lot, but I have only had my phone maybe 2 weeks, so there's not much on it yet. One thing I am always adding is themes. The theme feature is it's own pre installed app as I'm sure we've all seen. Different one's have been doing/blocking certain features at times on my phone. My husband's calls were being sent to voicemail, and some other important calls. I noticed the other day when I tried a new theme it locked me out of my phone with no preface to get back to the lock screen. I had to take a picture and select send to get back to the lock screen. Remembering this, I decided to go back to the original developer theme for the phone. My phone now rings. Original developer mode also controls the call feature, not just the theme, which I did not know or read until now. Going back to it I believe kind of reset my configuration. I would say give this a try for sure. Hope it helps someone else I love my phone and didn't want to lose it. FYI, I am on TMobile network in the USA.
Hi!
I have a very similar problem on a xiaomi redmi note 8t. I tried various settings, but failed. This is annoying because the phone is relatively new. I think it is a hardware problem.

I have the same issue here in same phone but on EU MIUI 12.0.3.0 .. with the same symptoms u described .. i suspected in sim card and i replaced it with a new one and the issue still there .. did u find a solution for this issue?
I'm not sure if this is the same issue as what's described by OP, but it's somewhat similar (not receiving calls). Sometimes my colleagues will call me on Whatsapp and state that they're unable to reach me via the cellular network. This is what fixed it for me:
Settings - SIM cards & mobile networks - Select your sim card - turn off 'use volte (use volte to improve the quality of voice calls)'

Hello everyone,
I have Mi 9 M1902F1G 128gb with MIUI global 11.0.4. I am living in France and using Bouyuges telecom, recently when I come to work my phone loses network connection related to simcard. No calls, no 4G, no 3G nothing absolutely. There is a cross sign sometimes on network bar, then sim card activation process starts but no connection. Even I cannot send an sms. This is a new problem. I have been using this phone with same sim card for approximately for a year.
Thanks in advance

Change job
Since you don't tell us what actions you already have taken the most obvious is to pull out the sim card and clean it. If this doesn't help, contact your operator to get a new sim card. Everything you say indicates that your problem is one with the sim card or the operator and has nothing to do with the phone.

Have you tried with VoLTE disabled?
Also, by preferring network type 3G or even 2G, instead of 4G.
Maybe you recently got some some 4G/3G micro-station at work with the band not supported by phone
Edit: You could also try to inspect by Network Cell Info Lite, Net Monster, Net Monitor or similar apps available from Playstore
