It all depends what is your current ROM (you didn't post a single word about).
If you are on Global, just update.
If not, please look around and learn about switching from e.g. China or EEA to Global, etc. Guides can be found on XDA and elswhere

If not, see if you can unlock your bootloader in developer options and then flash twrp in download mode.

Flashing Global Rom from Russian Global Rom

I just received my phone today and it came with unlocked bootloader and Russian global rom V9.5.14.0.OEARUFA.
Question is, can I download the updater ZIP file of Global Rom V9.5.13.0.OEAMIFA and use the updater app to flash instead of using Fastbook/Miflash Tools. Is this a safe way? Will it work? Thanks in advance!
Note : It is China Mi8 device.
I also wait for solution... Buy online and got russian rom and unlocked bootloader... What suitable twrp version for this rom because i scare bootloop will happen when install the unsuitable version... And does anyone here already try the miui pro rom from miuipro website.. does it good? Any feedback is appreciated..
The latest recovery-TWRP-3.2.3-0806 will do the trick.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=5862345805528068853
Flashing with twrp is probably the safest way as mi flash you can accidentally re-lock your bootloader.
Since the OP phone is china mi8. It's compatible with all the rom in this forum (EU, global, etc) with unlock bootloader of course.
I do not wish to change my recovery to twrp. So it's the only way is to use miflash tools? No direct zip flash global from from updater app from phone ?

To my knowledge you can't change channel with updater app. With channel I mean Global stable, Global developer, Chinese stable, Chinese developer etc etc.
So global and global Russia can be used with updater app ? Is that correct?
But if can't, it will only show error and nothing will happen to y device right?

Magisk is probably tricking the firmware to see the bootloader is locked. For purposes of online banking and stuff? I believe bootloader is still actually unlocked.

Flash Global Developer via Recovery locked Bootloader

Hi everyone
First, I didn't find an answer form my question via search. Sorry if there is already one.
I'm now with an Global Mi 8 with Global ROM MIUI 9 9.6 (9.6.4.0 (OEAMIFD) and locked Bootloader. That's how my MI 8 got out of the box (so, the official Global version).
I want to flash the Gloabl Developer ROM 8.8.30 from the official MIUI Homepage (http://en.miui.com/download-346.html). As there is also a ZIP ROM Version for flashing via Recovery I want to ask wether it's safe to flash this. The verification process said no problems, just that all Data is erased. This is ok.
Is it safe to flash this way or is there a danger for a brick if the Bootloader is not unlocked?

It's safe to switch from global stable to global beta rom thru the updater, it won't brick your device.
Sent from my MI 8 using Tapatalk
Hello,
I was in your case with the same version.
No problem for me, I downloaded the version like you via the link then going through system update of the phone.
My bootloader is not unlocked
I'm currently on China Stable (miui9), bootloader isn't unlocked yet, what would happen if I flash globlal beta rom (miui10) (zip) via updater recovery?
It worked. Thanks

If your device is Chinese, you gonna brick it without unlocked bootloader.
So unlock it, flash then stay unlocked.
Is it possible to downgrade from 10 beta to stable 9 with recovery rom?
For the people who did. Did it erase everything on the phone? I am thinking of trying miui 10 but am too lazy to re-setup everything

Yes. If you use the Mi Flash Tool do not lock the bootloader, you will brick the phone. Make sure you choose the 'clean all' option.

You can get the latest fastboot ROMs from here
https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/raphael/
If you change your mind and want to go back to the Indian ROM get it from here

Here's the flashing guide from the official MIUI forums
https://c.mi.com/oc/miuidownload/detail?guide=2
You will need to view the page in desktop mode if viewing on a phone. Make sure you change the flash option in step 5 to 'clean all' before flashing.
Here's some detail from the official forums on when you can and can't lock the bootloader when cross flashing.

Global here means all versions that are not China.
Many users have cross flashed Indian phones with a Chinese ROM. The only problem will be if you forget to change the flash option and lock the bootloader.

Use this guide for flashing the MIUI 12 beta ROM.
https://c.mi.com/oc/miuidownload/detail?guide=1
Again it needs to be viewed using desktop mode if on a mobile.
I'm not sure if you can flash directly over Indian MIUI, you might be able to. To be safe you could fastboot flash the latest China stable ROM first. Or ask in the MIUI 12 beta thread if it's safe to flash directly over Indian MIUI, maybe someone has already tried.

The Mi Flash Tool always defaults to 'clean all and lock', which will lock the bootloader after flashing. You MUST change this to 'clean all' before flashing, otherwise you will hard brick the phone. If you remember this, then it's safe, if you forget then it is not safe.
Because you can not lock the bootloader with the Chinese ROM installed, SafetyNet will fail and banking apps will not work.
In order to get around this you will need to install Magisk.
This guide tells you everything you need to know on passing SafetyNet and getting banking apps working.

Question Need help to set back stock ROM

Hello,
I have bought a Mi 11 yesterday version M2011K2G,
I found out that the bootloader was unlocked on it, but when I check it has a global ROM installed already on it,
the thing is that it's not making any update, so I guess it's not an original ROM ?
I want to put back the original ROM and lock the bootloader back in order to have updates,
can you please help me on how I can do this without breaking the phone ?
or I'm I not getting the updates just because the bootloader is unlocked and if I lock it I will get them back ? I'm just scared if I lock it back the phone will break,
or you think I should install back the ROM and lock it back to get everything better ?
Thanks !
What version of ROM do you have?

Normally an unlocked bootloader has no affort to the update. How did you get notice about that? If your bl is really unlocked I would stay with that.
Are you maybe on latest version? Can you take a screen shot of settings - my device - All secs

I know it's unlocked cause I see the unlocked "padlock" when I restart the phone, other than this I don't have any idea of what modification could have been done to it since I'm used to use my phone the way they come with, thats why I want to get it back to stock ROM or get the updates to make sure it's all good
Here is the latest Rom for eea.
It's interesting that rkbeusf is nowhere to find.
Well unzip the fastboot file put the fastboot files from miui into it and try the installation without locking

I mean, is there any way to lock it back ?
I kind of want to make the phone as it went out from factory
I never used mi flash, sorry.
My first step on new phones are always to unlock the bootloader so I can flash root and restore the apps with titanium.
And I got always updates through Ota.
I switched to xiaomi.eu rom, because it was faster with miui 12.5

thanks man, I will try install this ROM you gave me, I have noticed that when I make "download latest packages" it directly says "impossible to download..."
I wonder why it's doing this
Sorry if I misunderstood you, but you will have to scroll down until you see fastboot then a bit more to 'full rom' and click on the blue button
Edit:
Tested it right now and it works fine for me (download started)
Edit 2:
Seems to work with MI flash tool too:
Found on the mitool side:
Step 1: Download the correct Fastboot ROM on the Windows PC by double-checking the compatibility. Then extract and get the workable extensions on the PC (use the Rom above)
Step 2: installation bla bla
Step 3: too
Step 4: too
Step 5: Then attach the ROM file
Step 6: Switch Xiaomi device into the Fastboot mode. So turn off the device and simply take a long press and hold the keys of Volume Down and Power keys
Step 7: Then connect the device to the PC with a proper USB cable which is in the Fastboot mode
Step 8: Now you can enter the tool interface and check whether the device is connected
Step 9: Then select the most suitable flashing option from all three “Flash all”, “Flash all except storage” and “Flash all except data and storage”
Step 10: Hit flash from the top of the window and wait for several minutes
Step 11: Once the process is done you can reboot and finalize the process successfully.

one last question and I leave you,
my phone is a 12gb 256 (chinese) if I install that same ROM I installed, will I get autoupdates on it or that version can only update on it's chinese ROM ? any idea ?
For my understanding it will work too. The 12 GB ram is EU is not available but it's only additional ram and does not have an other rom.
... So if you can install and use your phone with that rom you will have no issues with updates

Be careful, don't lock bootloader with a global or EEA ROM on CN hardware, you will brick your phone.
Take care when using Miflash with CN flashed to global. Now you are on production software, best to stay there unless you want to install custom ROMs. OTAs should work now. 12.5.1.0 is the latest for EEA.

Question Mi 11 Ultra China rom to EUROM/Global queries

Hi guys! just a couple of questions. I have been reading some of the Q and A on mi 11 ultra in the forums and have some questions of my own for clearer info for me.
I will be unlocking my bootloader today so here's my questions.
1. If I'm flashing a eurom (flashable rom from xiaomi website), do i need to follow the guides in flashing a twrp? or just the usual mi flash tool and eurom for flashing?
2. If I'm flashing a global rom, (i watched in a video that for flashing global rom) do i still need to edit the .bat file and delete the 8 lines pertaining to rollback?
3. currently i have a 12.0.9 chinarom, i haven't updated it yet to 12.5.3 (there is an update available), because i will be unlocking my bootloader. Do i need to update it first before unlocking? or just proceed to unlocked?, then change the rom to my preferred one either eurom or global?
thank you.

Thanks for the reply. You leave the bootloader unlocked, or relocked it in EU version? Are you able to use bank and payment apps without security issues?
And, what is the main differences of the Chinese and EU system?
Thanks
The bootloader remains unlocked, you cannot lock it via dev options. However the ROM works as if it is locked by its design. All bank apps work, may be you might need to delete the empty twrp folder but most don't require it.
It is based on Chinese stock but with so much added. So you get updates quicker on a much better ROM. I'm not going to list the vast number of differences but if you want to read them all, pop over to the Xiaomi EU forum's 11 Ultra's download page for all the info.
EU ROM ram management sucks, nothing I open and I leave without killing it in the background , then I return to it from recent, nothing work, always fresh open. Tried battery management, tried ram management, tried many things, same result

No, you only need to format your storage when you are going from one line to another, such as China to EEA or Xiaomi.eu, but all you need to do for an update is a dirty flash via TWRP or if you are running stock rom, all updates should be relatively seamless, requiring only a simple click to initiate the process and is handled within the OS.

You can do it either way. Personally, I find it quicker on my PC to download the rom and then to copy it to my internal storage, but you can download via OTA if you want as well.

so i downloaded it ony my mi11u, faster download time.
when i click the "check md5 & install" on "updater"
*best to remove the lock's first, else a chinese welcome note on twrp will prompt to input the password, need to change the language first.
it restarts and bootups on twrp. click install and need to search the downloaded "usually in internal storage, with other files and folders, on the bottom since it's a zip file"
install and reboot "system reboot"
