Dolby Atmos - Moto Z3 Play Questions & Answers

Hey,
Does anyone know where I can find a Dolby Atmos that works with SE Enforce?
I tried the DDP+ but the app doesn't work, and my bank apps don't work without SE Linux.

Audio mods for Moto X

Hi all!
Are you satisfied with the sound quality on your Moto X? Especially when listening music with headsets.
Do you use any sound mods?
Want to share my thoughts about sound quality. On 5.1 sound is better then on 4.4.4. In both used PowerAmp.
Actually I don't like the quality of the sound on 4.4.4. Can you recommend any sound mod working on our loved Moto X?

You've some issues with your moto x or dunno....
The sound quality is terrible on LP due to the bugged sound module used, use external sound monitor and you'll find it for yourself.
On 4.4.4 In using the Walkman port with their own sound announcements and I find it to be the greatest out there ( to me that is )
I can't live without Viper4Android on any phone I have, because I like to customize all the settings depending on what headphones I am using. And it makes the music sound beautifully well...

I'd tried V4A and can't install the sound driver or whatever they call it. It's just won't work for me...
Ok, I gave a try to V4A again and it works for me! Just set it to compatible mode.

Mine works fine on normal mode on LP.
Use SELinuxModeChanger and change from Enforcing to Permissive.
I understand that this soundmod do not work unless SELinux is in Permissive mode. Let me know if you need this apk.

I love my moto for listening to music. I use V4A too and can't imagine a live without it. The Moto X can play very loud too. I use headphones with 120 Ohm and don't need any external amping at all.

No, it didn't work for me even with changing Selinux mode to Permissive. No sound.

Did you installed BusyBox ?
I guess V4A also requires busybox.
This is what i did:-
1) Installed busybox from playstore.
2) Changed the SeLinux Mode form Enforcing to permissive.
3) Flashed V4A zip.
worked like charm.
I am on Ressurection Remix ROM but i guess this should work for Stock ROM too.
ok, guys.
I reflashed the 4.4.4 and tried Walkman port from there [PORT][4.1+][Update 2015/04/09] SONY WALKMAN™ | The Best Clear Audio Experience. I could say that version 3.1 worked for me. Version 3.5 fc's on start.
I didn't try to use V4A, so I can,t prove it works or not.
P.S. Make sure to have root and busybox installed. I didn't set Selinux mode to permissive, it works anyway
[JB_4.3-KK_4.4]_WALKMAN™_v5.1_CM10.2_CM11_by_ibanez7-signed.zip
This is the one Walkman port I use, it's not new but it works rather well, also you can update the walkman app itself if you wish. There is a initd script that you flash too for better output, which really changes only few things, that might not even be felt by a human, but either way, flash that too imo.

There are some region limitations
In TR: Kardeşim bazı bölge sınırlandırmaları var. Yüz tanıma da Türkiye bölgesinde çalışmıyodu mesela.
I'm living in Germany and I've set my location to France bc of the face unlock feature.
Not experiencing any limitations regarding volume and whatsoever.
Maybe you should give the equalizer a try?
You can install PowerAmp player app which has an experimental output driver that enables Hi-Res 24-bit, bypasses internal android mixer, custom hi-quality resampler and optimizes the gain. I tried it a month ago and it improves sound quality.

What he said. Using aptX bluetooth you can actually transmit completely losless 24bit 96khz Audio directly from file to the device without any resampling.

It's just installing PowerAmp app from the Google Play Store and then in settings select output engine to Experimental HiRes. No need for root.
It works only within PowerAmp.

So it wont work with apps like spotify or YouTube?
It won't
you need to have your own FLAC with this player, but áudio gets significantly better.
It is Very easy to identify something like Spotify with sound clipping and weird artifacts against Poweramp

Disable additional bass/low-end boost?

Has anyone found a way to disable/remove the additional bass to all audio (on Stock ROM). Sometimes it's great but for music it's sometimes downright terrible.
Try tinkering with the AudioWizard settings.
If no luck, try your music player's EQ settings or Viper4android.

I've used viper before and I love it but for personal reasons I don't want to leave the stock ROM or do any flashing. The audiowizard has very lackluster options which don't provide a very useful description which make it hard to figure out what the bass and treble slider actually do, as they don't seem to impact the extra bass at all.
You don't need to leave stock ROM for using V4A.
The latest V4A .apk is available to install from XDA labs.
Another option, is to try the VLC media player's native equaliser (works just for music/ video files during VLC play).

I would but I can't do that without root and I'm sort of not keen on that as I've heard magisk is more unstable and not a garenteed passt for safety net (I use Google pay alot)
In that case, try any one of the top-rated volume/ bass adjusting apps via Play store - see if it does the job for you.
VLC media player has it's own equaliser.
You can freeze/ disable AudioWizard via stock settings, or try SD-maid or Titanium.

Thank you for this info. I was genuinely not aware of this.
I've had a couple of nightmare situations where the ROG3 would shut-down (power-off) by itself every time I powered it on - I thought this was because of a rogue app/ magisk module or perhaps a virus; I ended up doing a factory reset eventually to recover my phone.

Themes / Apps / Mods Fully Working Viper4Android Installation

Many have posted several methods to properly install Viper4Android but none of them have worked for me. So I made my own method that works for me, it's really easy and short. Hopefully it also works for you.
Here's the instruction video:
If you get to the driver installation loop like me did, just flash AML, ACP and IMPORTANT flash Dolby Atmos ZTE A2019 Pro Magisk Module from Pling and then Viper FX. It should also then work in non-Legacy mode. In fact t least Spotify only works in non-Legacy mode!
Have fun!
does it make much difference to the audio?
To be perfectly honest, not that much... Was definitly not worth the hassle and the 3€ for the .vdc! But I'd not consider myself as an audiophile, who knows...
At least you can boost the volume a little.
