Hi guys, got my ultra few weeks ago...I've seen loads of updates to the 12.5 and I saw that European version has already a stable 12.5. my question is, as I'm on a RKAEUVF, did someone try to upgrade to the RKAEUXM? And if so, did you needed to unlock the bootloader or was it just a simple upgrade? Thanks guys
If you can`t wait, till the upgrade, you need to unlock the bootloader...
I`m in same situation...
Omg you are funny. Just unlock this bootlader and do it. Are you 5?
?? You ok man? He asked something, got an answer. After this answer (what you made) what you want? Really...
There is a a lot ot thread here, just read (if not too hard) than, every asnwer here, or on the xiaomi EU forum if not enough what you find here...
Without unlocking he can`t change the rom from **VF to **XM... But good luck, maybe you know better.

Thank you @Mr Reese. Even though I could unlock the bootloader, some people can't understand that the reason I don't so it is because my bank is an online bank without an actual website. If I can't have the app working, I simply can't access my account. Ive been using custom ROMs for over a decade now, I know the pros and the cons, and unfortunately the app security is quite good and blocks me out as soon as I have an unlocked bootloader. I had the same issue with the beta version of Android on my pixel. So I rather not put myself through that work. Hence the question.

Hi guys,
First i would lie to apologize to start this thread, as many have threads with a similar question were been asked. As I still cant find the correct answer, hence I am starting this thread.
I am currently of JB Stock ROM 4.1.2(20A-ESA-XXX) and i have just rooted my device few mins back without any kind of hassles using the the method given in this link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2180688).
I am willing to install a custom rom, but without unlocking the bootloader it wont be possible. Request you guys to direct/show me the correct way to unlock my phones bootloader.
Thanks & Regards,
Bhavik

Hi guys!
I have the x3 compact since 3. October and i'm thinking about rooting it.. I have experience with the arc s and i dont want to unlock the bootloader because the z3 compact will get lots of updates for sure and then i can flash almost every rom with locked bootloader..
Is there any method now to root it or no way at the moment?
Thank ya anyways,
Yours slimy!

Wrong forum and answered like 50 times. I could answer it I suppose, but do a search.
Come on.. I thought an exploit had been found. See former post and use a "?"

I have a sixth sense for when a device has been all but abandoned, and I am getting that feeling now. Considering they just released a huge MIUI update without the Mix, I can't say I am particularly hopeful for the future of this phone. May be time to throw it up on swappa while it's still worth something.

The "huge MIUI update" you are referring to is MIUI 8.2. If you check your device info, you'll see that the Mix is already running MIUI 8.2. This is why you didn't see the Mix in the list of updated devices.
Now, regarding the Nougat update, considering Xiaomi built a lot of hype with the Mix, it is unlikely that Xiaomi will abandon this device.
But Xiaomi has a history of abandoning some really good devices like the MiPad. So we'll never know.
Well, no, its 8.2 global. A global rom doesn't even exist for the Mix. So I consider that a huge update.
N for the mix is already in testing according to mods on the eu and official forum. Also recently saw a listing for the mi mix EVO with a qc835, plus the CEO wants to build another mix....My gut feeling is this phone isn't going anywhere and we will have N within a quarter. Remember the s7 just got N on carriers in the US this week.

I also wonder why the phone does not sudgest an uppdate for 8.2 - does it mean that i cant uppdate my phone for future?

You won't receive any updates as long as you're on the Vendor ROM. You need to flash to the EU ROM or one of the custom ROMs in this forum using the guides provided. The guides are quite straightforward. So you'll safely boot the ROM you want providing you follow the guides EXACTLY.
I personally prefer the Xiaomi.EU ROM and I just checked the languages available on this ROM for you. Found "Norsk Bokmal" in the list of available language options. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe this is Norwegian. I am not sure though as I don't know the language.
Cheers!

Whilst in no way invalidating the examples of times when their support wasn't great, there have also been times when Xiaomi's support for their devices has been well-above-average - someone recently posted a thread on reddit detailing one such example.
So we can't read too much into previous devices as a guide for what will happen with the Mix.
These sorts of threads appear for almost every device - it doesn't matter which device or which manufacturer, they inevitably pop up. People convince themselves they know what's going to happen and, most of the time, they're wrong.
Not to mention, Xiaomi have publicly stated the Mix will be one of their devices to be updated to Nougat.
A pretty unnecessary thing to say if they're secretly planning to ignore it.

Rooting the phone is not a necessity to flash the EU ROM.. You should flash the dm-verity and forced encryption disabler patch on TWRP if you don't plan to root. Follow the guides exactly and you'll be fine.

Ok, ty for pointers! I have not full understandig of what the different words mean when it comes to flash, twrp and even root. I will have to read a lot before starting.
But i have to root in order to get epic rom, right?

No, you have to unlock your bootloader only and flash TWRP using fastboot. But after installing Epic you're rooted anyway. Epic is pre rooted. For unlock procedure google unlock Xiaomi for example. Best is you start here:

Mine updated to 8.2.2.0 OTA just fine soon after I got things setup [it wanted or offered the update soon after being turned on - but I needed to sort stuff out first]. Abandoned ... hardly ... having run 7 on the Honor 8 and the Mate 9 ... its not THAT huge a thing to wait for it to come along through the usual process. Give it time and be patient, phones only a few months old anyways.
Hello everyone.
Seem like alot of people are getting the wanted OEM unlock now, WHO do we need to get a working PIE ROM going? Are we getting close?
I think a bounty needs to be started in order to get a Good recognised ROM created interested. They arent gonna pay for a device that isn't officially released in USA. I'm sure there is 90 people on XDA wanting a custom ROM willing to pay £10 each to a bounty to get a device for a developer.
Indeed now all the bootloader situation is solved it would be great to get some working non EMUI ROM working...
I would certainly contribute to a bounty but maybe better first we are where we are , if there is anyone working on this, or could be potentially interested ... Maybe we could start by renaming this thread to something more informative to see if we can get some interest on this topic?

Working on it...
I`m interested
Eur 10 is very justified if we can get a fully functioning non EMUI rom
With treble support and released kernel sources it seems to be very realistic.
The only thing I'm worried about is the camera, but in the P20 Pro forum they already have a port of the original one working on Lineage.
It looks like OEM Unlock could be enabled again in FW 9.0.0.171 according to another xda post I found via Google
When I had the OP5t I was very happy to use the LiquidROM Dabug123, maybe we should look in the same direction for compliling a ROM for the M20P
You still need to pay for a bootloader unlock code currently once you get to .171
Today I will upload my rom based on 182 emui

Quick question guys. If I unlock my bootloader and root the phone, can I go back and re-lock it to bring the phone back to its original factory state?

I am not 100% sure about the Mate 20 Pro, but I had unlocked my previous Mate 10 Pro (with official unlock code from Huawei, and adb) and months later I easily re-locked it back, using the same code.
Forgive my ignorance but can i Flash a custom rom without unlocking the bootloader? If not is my only option to pay FunkHuwaei for a code?
no you can't and yes it is
Hello everyone, still on 153 here in Denmark on 3, should we reach out for other ROM maintainer for guides? Do any other than EMUI people and FH Guys "helping" us?

how eactly it was resolved?
Just came here to ask if this was possible. I remember with the us versions of the Samsung this is the way we did it. I don't need custom ROMs or anything. Is this possible?
Hi, that's not possible. If you use Google you'll find all you need to know.

what is the interest of the forum then?
This question has been asked many many times before. Just go to any Samsung ROM topic on XDA or google the topic. Many brands now make it difficult or impossible to root without unlocking the boot loader.
