Hey All,
Ive been trying several Android 11 custom Roms, (Lineage, beyond, etc) but android auto doesn't work on any of them.
I have gone back to stock and Android Auto is working again, but I really would like the better software.
Are there any custom roms that people have using android auto?

Hi guys,
can anybody here report back if there's a well working ROM that supports Android Auto perfectly? I don't mean the app itself, that should work on every ROM. But the connection to a car's infotainment and the external screen functionality.
I was using MIUI (xiaomi.eu in particular) for most of the time now, and with the recent versions, Android Auto started having serious issues. Car screen freezing, phone locking up completely and such things. Disabling HW overlays and not using AOD helps, but some issues remain.
I thought I'd give some AOSP ROMs a try (I want to go AOSP anyways, just stuck with MIUI until there were some stable ROMs to choose from). Sadly, none of the two AOSP ROMs (Pixel Experience and DerpFest) I've tried works flawlessly with Android Auto -> Similar issues of the phone locking up. Is this a general problem?
If not, could somebody recommend me a ROM that works perfectly with Android Auto?
Thanks in advance!
Wrong thread sorry

Please tell me what you want to have changed or implemented, the I would ask the developers if it could be possible.

I don't quite understand, how is this related to the topic?
Latest xiaomi.eu stable and android auto work like a charm, no issues, no need to play around with the hw overlays

That's good to know, thanks for reporting in. I'd prefer an AOSP ROM if I am honest, but if there is no other way, I'll definitely go xiaomi.eu stable.
Just to report back on this question, I have tried a few more ROMs and I am going with Syberia. Although it's not on Android Q yet, it works perfectly and I have not yet encountered any bugs. Android Auto works flawlessly.
Glad you found one that works. I'm in the same boat. I've asked about this and over XDA, other forums and I just get ignored. I'm running an Umidigi F1 Play and can't find a single AOSP-based ROM that works with Android Auto on this phone. Stock works fine but I don't want to be a year behind in security updates just do I can run Android Auto. Currently running Lineage 17 on this phone and have been waiting for months for a fix to this issue.
Quick update, Paranoid Android Quartz Alpha 2 is on Android 10 and works fine!

There's no GSI though right? On the Umidigi, there are no custom ROMs. GSI is my only option.
Hello, I test 4 custom rom Android 10, and Android Auto doesn't work with anyone. Which custom ROM Android 10 works with Android Auto? Thanks and sorry for my bad english.
if I understood correctly, no custom rom works with Android Auto?
I dont know if any thread was before or not.
But since android 10 is out, and lots of custom roms based on android 10 are out for our device, i am curious why no one aosp custom rom is enough stable? Even official versions.
I have tested several custom roms as Pixel, Evox, Lineage, MSM extended, Corvus, IOn, Paranoid, .... and all of them have problems. Most of them is even clean flash, all formated, clean flash, if needed miui vendor flashed good one. all have problem, some lose voice call conections, some if we are on wifi and we go in town, and when come back home, phone doesnt connect automatic on wifi , we have to connect manualy. and such simple problems what are really simple.
I thank to all developers who makes efforts to custom roms, but why each rom with each new build is as not same god is even worst?
First i am not fan of MIUI, but nytime after some times of using custom aosp roms, it was days or even just hours or even minutes, i switch back to miui custom roms.
Hello,
i've put in the old days and Android 9 Custom (52.0.A.11.3), can't remember which one.
I have now seen that there are official releases for Android 10 custom roms.
In the various rom thread, I've seen that there is need to get back to official Android 10 and to boot it.
What is the best option for me?
If I manage to upgrade, will I be able to move back and forth between them to give a try ?
Can all of them be considered as daily drivers ?
And final question, shall I do that, of is Android 9 still a good choice ?
Thanks a lot
I got the RM Note 10 Pro when it was brandnew and just wanted a stable custom rom. I installed and used Arrow OS with Android 11 and was satisfied with it. But then the team and apparently all the other teams stopped supporting and updating those roms and moved on to Android 12 projects. So like 2 month ago I moved on to Lineage 12.1 so I could have a rom that keeps getting updates and support. I don't really like changing roms and transferring everything to the phone that I had before and having to figure out certain things that work differently on the new versions. Now I am seeing Android 13 roms popping out in the forums and I am concerned that thosed based on Android 12 will also stop getting updates and support and force me to change to a Rom with 13. Will the 12 roms keep getting updates at least for a while longer? I would prefer staying on 12.1 for a while

When Xiaomi stops updating an android version, developers must also follow to continue the development of their rom.
Nothing prevents you from staying in A12, security will be and will remain on the date of the last rom in A12.
Xiaomi for some time has preferred to sell phones rather than provide bug-free roms before moving on to another newer android version.
For example, the beta stables are updated via OTA but it is just indicated Stable on the phone, moreover for some phones the beta stables are just renamed stable later when it is exactly the same rom without bug fixes.
For me the A12 Aosp roms are crude and ugly only reason that makes me stay on MIUI but I am from the old school.

The right answer for this is: depends on the resources that community have to preserve the older build. I'm talking about people and hardware. If there's none, they have to move forward to newer one and ditch the older. Why Lineage could support several versions android because they have resources to do so. Most don't have that luxury.
Yes, most custom Android 12 ROMs should be abandoned in the next 2-3 months. Some devs may keep updating 12 if they aren't confident in 13, but that's a bit rare. If you are on a stable Android ROM, stick with that for a year or so even if it means no updates. I plan to upgrade to Android 12 now, have been on Android 11, and when Android 14 comes out, I'll upgrade to Android 13. You might be able to do an in-place upgrade to Android 13 rather than clean installing, if you are lucky.

I am on the same boat. Was running LOS 18.1 happily on Oneplus. Then purchased Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro and sh*t started. No official Lineage so started research. Found Arrow to be close. Official and vanilla.
The A11 development was already gone so went with A12 as a future proof option (as I thought). They killed it quick and went 12L. I flashed A12L but after a short while they quit that and went A13. I did not even started to think about swap and they are at A13.1 that I read have bugs.
I wish that development power went in the same direction but no, there are tons of custom ROMs for 'sweet' but I couldn't find stable and polished one. Started to regret that I got a device that is not supported by LOS.
When I got my Note 10 pro last year, I also wanted a device with LineageOS support. But this was the best hardware I could find inexpensively that seemed like it had a lot of development interest, so it's what I went with.
I tried some custom ROMs when I first got it, but was disappointed and went with xiaomi.eu for a long time instead. It's only recently that LineageOS has become available, though it's not official.
