Hi! I am using latest version of PixelExperience Plus (coming from MIUI 12) and I am looking for a ROM that has always-on-display when locking the device, but only for a short period of time before completely turning the screen off. If anyone has used a Realme 8 Pro, you can get an idea of what I'm talking about.
Also, it would be nice that notifications wake up the screen but only as always-on-display icons instead of turning the whole screen on.
Does anyone know of a ROM with these features?

Try latest OctaviOS, Nusantara project or Crdroid, I'm usually turning AoD off, but you can play with the settings to try to achieve what you want
yeah.....this feature is there in realme ui and miui......but I didn’t see it in AOSP roms

Hi everyone
I've been using aosp-based roms for ages on my mi5 and one of the features that I love is the "night mode" that AOSP has, where the screen turns "amber" during night time to preserve eyesight
Now, I've switched to miui 10 to try it out, but one of the things I don't like is it's night mode ("reading mode" as they call it). This is because, instead of veering towards warmer "amber" colors, miui's reading mode turns everything "greenish". It's very unappealing and I don't find it relaxing like aosp implementation, to the point where I'm wondering if it's actually a bug. I mean, isn't night/reading mode supposed to suppress blue light? To me Miui's reading mode seems more like it's removing the red component instead... Is it just because I'm used to aosp or is it implemented badly?
Hi guys, i have calling troubles for long time. Sometimes with an incoming call, my mi9t pro (raphael) doesn't vibrate and the display stays off (but if i unlock the phone i can see the incoming call display notification). This usually happen when the phone is in the pocket.
Have this problem with resurrection remix but also when i was with lineage or evolution x.
I had this problem also when i was with mi9t (davinci), so i dont know if it's hardware/software or carrier related.
I tried to change call manager app with no luck
I tried to disable all battery optimisation with no luck
Vibration is enabled for incoming call, dnd mode is off.
How can i solve the problem?
Thanks in advance
Hi,
Did you notice the same behavior while on MIUI stock ROM? If yes, it most probably is a hardware related issue. If not, then it's definitely an issue with the ROM. Please note that almost all the custom ROMs for K20 pro use LOS tree which means if LOS has the bug, it will most probably be noticed on all the other ROMs.

Seems that pocket mode is causing the issue. I will do some other test to check this behaviour (including turn back to MIUI rom).
I've tried bloody everything under the sun to try and get Google assistant to work from standby (a feature that I loved in my redmi note 9 Pro) does anybody else have this problem?
do you mean without turning the screen on?
that would be quite cool

Yes, i've always been able to do it, from my Redmi 5 plus to my last phone, Redmi Note 9 pro..even my GF can do it on her Mi 9.
I think it's a problem with Android 11, but can't be sure unless i get feedback from other users...I've tried all google setting (including the personalisation by ticking all boxes) tried everything in MIUI to no avail...it's a brilliant feature as i used to be able to just ask the time in bed/set an alarm etc without having to wake the screen...especially useful if you can't find your phone, just say 'ok google' and you can usually hear it!
Whenever i try it on my RN 10 pro, my RN9 Pro chirps up instead acting on behalf of it's much thicker bigger brother.

not accessible
I always thought it was for security reasons one cannot do so
maybe 'trust' can work. check with headphones after approving as trusted device

Do you mean it's not accessible on your device?
I've used my headphones in the past but that was just part of it being open normally.i.e it shouldn't matter as i don't always have my headphones connected for it to work.
As i stated it can't be for security reasons as i've had this feature on previous Xiaomi phones (and my GFs phones as well) it's just the RN 10 pro...i'm wondering if it's because of Android 11?
...It is still crippled by the forced feature of only having 10 seconds AOD! i hoped and prayed this would of been sorted by now with the infamous MIUI 12.5.
It obviously didn't matter about the other threads i posted (and asking support over on Twitter) as it seems nobody else is bothered? so it appears other users are happy to either resort to rooting their phones and using Magisk or removing MIUI optimisation via developer options just to have a working AOD?
I for one am NOT! why should i? Its dangerous and you lose certain elements. i bought the phone for this feature, they took out the notification light so the least they could do is have an AOD that's, you know...ALWAYS ON!
I'm sick of having to wake my phone all the bloody time just to see if anything has turned up or if i missed a call when i wasn't around near my phone. This is not too much to ask, but it seems everybody else is fine with it? WHY?
On topic, i don't see much change from 12 apart from the sounds being different, a slight increase in speed..oh an the volume bar is different..woo!
(notes got an update waaay before i received 12.5 so that was nothing new.)
Oh, AND STILL NO SUPER WALLPAPERS!
Colour me unimpressed.
P.s this is copied from my MI account on their forums, so not specifically aimed at XDA folks.
Totally agree with you, I've heard they do this to make the false sensation of this being a premium feature, so they push users to buy expensive phones.
For 12.5 I expect proper AOD, super wallpapers and FIXED DEEP SLEEP.. Im tired of losing 20% battery overnight
Plus 1 on the AOD 10 second issue, there's absolutely no point in AOD if it's only on for 10 seconds. I've submitted an issue with Xiaomi Services and Feedback and they came back saying it was for battery drain reasons, which is bull****! Makes more sense to add the option for always on instead of 10 seconds and let the user decide!
My 168 hours will be up this afternoon at which time I'll hopefully be unlocking my BL and flashing MiuiMix. It gives the option to have AOD always on.
I totally agree, I shouldn't have to flash a rom just to get a working AOD but I also want call recording and if MiuiMix on my Mi 9T Pro is anything to go by, it is much better than stock.
I'll see how MiuiMix goes and I might also have a play with the unofficial LineageOS release that looks promising as well.
Yeah it's pretty bad, I got a reply from the developers saying it's for battery too, seems to me it's an artificial cap for their low end devices.

Yep total bollocks on the battery drain issue. If anything i waste more battery turning the bastard on and off every frigging 5 minutes (at full brightness) just to see if anything has turned up! An AOD (like on my GF's Mi9 is in a very low brightness state which moves every 2 minutes to prevent burn in) should be implemented on their midranges too...But it seems like it's a feature deliberately only available on their flagship products...If that's the case it's discriminatory and bang out of order.
Please guys tweet @XiaomiSupport as much as possible and get Redmi Note 10 users to do the same, also use the inbuilt feedback on your phones...i'll post a screenshot in a tick on how to do it.
Come on comrades if enough of us keep harassing and threatening to boycott they will have to take notice.
1 : Settings (scroll right to the bottom)
2 : Service and feedback (ignore FAQ)
3 : Suggestions (tick box)
4 : Enter your grievance (I did mine via my phone so due to predictive text a few mistakes, but you get the gist)
5 : Select item (home screen + settings - always on display)
6 : enter your email. (Send)
Try and highlight that is not too conserve battery as you waste more battery turning it on and off, and that their flagship phones have it... If you pre-empt their stock reply you have more chance of not being fed bull****.
Good luck lads
Man just turn off miui optimization and is aod

You can't do it any longer Xiaomi have greyed out the option. (or it just isn't there)

Near the bottom of developer options there should be an option in the Autofill section called 'reset to default values'. Apparently if you tap this a few times the switch for MIUI optimization will appear again
Yep, pretty annoying. That's why I switched to PixelExperience I did notice a battery drain though when using it.
I'm now using NotifyBuddy, an app that only turns on AOD when I have a new notification. It replaces the notification led. Works well.
Hello XDA Community,
I'm seeking assistance with a peculiar problem I've been encountering with my OnePlus 10 Pro.
The issue manifests as a persistent black clock display whenever the phone is locked. This display seems to prevent the screen from turning off as it should when the device is not in use. This not only affects the phone's battery life but also my overall user experience.
Additionally, I've observed a concerning correlation between this black clock screen and the device's charging speed. When the black clock screen is active, my OnePlus 10 Pro doesn't seem to charge at the speed I've come to expect from this device. This is particularly problematic as I rely heavily on the phone's acclaimed quick charging feature.
Has anyone else encountered this issue or can offer any advice? I would greatly appreciate any insights or potential solutions.
This screen is probably "ambient display" but on screen option I have disabled this in Wallpapers & style and always-on display is disabled.
Thank you in advance for your help.
I have had this with the fingerprint button showing after the screen is off, I got around it by turning it on then rebooting and retesting then changing the feature to off and then rebooting then testing again...
The problem occured after a firmware update, so if you've changed region or performed an update then that may be why.
Definitely something that shouldn't be happening.
I don't have "wise charging" turned on or wireless charging, or any kind of AOD feature, cycling and rebooting between each change should help, least it did for me.
I google this case and this can be ambient display by google but I dont have any option to disable it

Again, just cycle AOD to on then reboot.. then turn it off then reboot.
Then retest.
It simply shouldn't be on at all, so did you update recently?
