I have the above phone on ATT prepaid and continue to receive constant messages that it will not work after 3g shutdown. Is this true? It was not listed in any of their supported phones, but the 975U was listed.

I picked up a used Samsung Galaxy S i9000 that was on Virgin (CDMA?). I rooted it, and put JB on it. From another device, I have a Telus data plan that is on 4G. Looking at the i9000 specs, it says it supports GSM and 3G. This where I get confused. The Telus plan I am on is 4G LTE (data). Does this mean that this Sim could fall back to 3G if I use it in my Samsung? I have ran a number of unlock tools (including the Samsung Galaxy S Unlocker) and think that my phone is unlocked, but the radio shows that there is no connection. When I ran the unlocker, it completes but does not say "its done". I can see that I now have the correct APN setting for Telus. The phone sees my SIM and my phone #. And I have the nv_data.bin file ( was not there before running the unlocker). When I look at the phone details, it sees my SIM, knows my phone number etc. It just won't connect. It also has the correct APN settings. If I try to dial a number or use the data, it does not work. Wondering if there are other settings I am missing?
I think the issue is that the sim only runs on Telus 4G and does not fall back to 3G (what the phone is capable of), but again, this is where I am green. I don't know how this works. Does the phone 'ask' the Sim to fall back, or does the network and Sim dictate to the phone what network it will use?
Area of coverage: Burlington Ontario (GTA). Sorry if this has been discussed, but my search terms did not find anything.
Just a quick question,
I received a galaxy s5 for work today and it is the att version, if I unlock it and use it on tmobile, does it support the same bands as the regular tmobile branded one?? Like LTE and hspa+ 21.
Thanks for all your help ahead of time and tend apologize if this has been posted before, I tried looking for something similar but was not able to find anything.
I have a AT&T Galaxy S5 unlocked. I put my friend's T-Mobile sim card in it and everything worked even LTE without changing anything (APN), it changed automatically. My brother has Claro (by the way I'm in Puerto Rico), with that one I had to change apn's manually to get data working.
I'm freed my AT&T S5 for use on T-Mobile last month and it works just fine. Didn't have to modify any APN settings either as the phone was able to pull it off the T-Mobile SIM.
In all freq's? AWS as well?
SAMSUNG-SM-G900A, with 128gb SD & Rooted.
That's what I'm wondering. I know LTE will work fine. But what about AWS and hspa.
I carrier unlocked my Galaxy S 5 and wanted to know if it would work on Verizon's network.
It might work on Wcdma, & Lte. Maybe other chime in.

I'd like to know as well.
Because I'm switching and my S5 is carrier unlocked.
When I put my VZW SIM (which works fine in an iphone 6) in the phone there is no indication of a problem, i.e. wrong sim, etc.
However the signal icon is generic and if I try to place a call it gives me that dreaded not registered on network pop up.
If I look in the properties on the phone the (VZW) number is displayed but it does not show as activated on network.
So my question is does the S5 (actually purchased at a Best Buy store as MetroPCS and unlocked to use on ATT) have the proper modem to work with VZW? If not I will need to sell it.
Interestingly enough I put the ATT SIM in the (VZW) iphone and it worked instantly. Placed calls, send SMS, and get LTE speeds with nothing to change whatsoever!
Here's a fairly good read on network bands and compatibility between carriers....
It should help.....g

First I do not have an S6 yet but am researching before Purchase and main concern
is Battery Life ....but this is a General Question.
On Metro PCS/ Tmobile we already have VoLTE on all Devices which have 4G LTE
Radios which are Carrier Branded Devices.
Metro PCS was one of the first so back in 2012 my little LG Motion 4G had simultaneous
Voice and Data on LTE Band .
My current Factory Unlocked Alpha 850M is CAPABLE of VoLTE but lacks the specific
TMobile Software for VoLTE on this Network so as soon I make a call the LTE
drops down to 3G or H H+ to make the call then returns to LTE after the call.
All unlocked Devices do this .
HOWEVER: the Galaxy S6 has a VoLTE setting in the Menu - on a MetroPCS/Tmobile
version on Tmobile/Metro you already have this function so:
1) What does VoLTE switch do on S6 Tmobile version - you stay on LTE During calls
either way - right ? VoLTE ON or OFF.
2) Since there IS a VoLTE switch will this be the FIRST Device that enables VoLTE even
as a Factory Unlocked version running on Tmobile/ Metro ?
Meaning - is this the beginning of VoLTE as a Universal Android Feature across many
Carriers not requiring specific Carrier Software for a Specific Network to enable
VoLTE on multiple Carriers ?
Thanks for your patience - I am not a Dev and have learned much here.

I don't believe this is the case YET. Android AOSP has VoLTE built into it as of OS version 5.1 (as seen with the Nexus 6). Prior to this the VoLTE was handled by carrier software on carrier devices. I do not know if another carriers S6 will use VoLTE on T-Mobile without being flashed with T-Mobile software first.
That being said going forward we should see a VoLTE "Universal Android Feature" that is compatible with any device/enabled carrier but not until 5.1+
You're confusing a few different things
- Simultaneous voice + data was always available on GSM networks, it uses the regular GSM radio to place the call and then data is separate. This is not VoLTE.
- CDMA carriers (Verizon, Sprint, old Metro PCS) had trouble with voice + data, CDMA didn't allow it to work. When LTE was introduced, it gave them the ability to connect voice through CDMA and data via LTE, so that's how they were able to do simultaneous voice + data. This is also not VoLTE.
- VoLTE is sending the call over the data LTE network. This is also different to WiFi calling. So instead of your phone call being transmitted as a voice call, it's turned into data, and sent through T-Mobile (or whatever carrier's network) as data. You can have a VoLTE call and use data as well, it's the equivalent of having 2 data apps running at the same time.
- There have been a few VoLTE enabled phones already, I believe the Note 4 and Z3 both have VoLTE. There are probably others, I just don't know off the top of my head.
We have Had VoLTE Phones on Metro PCS since August 2012
Again-we have had VoLTE Phones since 2012 on Metro PCS :
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2408750,00.asp
I had one of the first Models called LG Motion 4G- the Call
AND the Internet while on the Call were all over LTE.
Metro PCS was one of the first to offer this and most of their
LTE ( if not ALL) have had this feature since AND TMobile has
adopted this Feature to most of their phones.
But I don't want to get bogged down in that Question.
The Question is - On Metro PCS /Tmobile you ONLY Get VoLTE on a Metro branded Phone-
AT&T issued an OTA UPDATE for their first VoLTE Phone which
was Galaxy S4 Mini .
There is No Factory Unlocked Phone which can get VoLTE on Metro PCS ( but their Branded 4G LTE phones do have VoLTE)
BUT - since VoLTE is a Function in the Galaxy S6 and is somewhat supported by Android Lollipop -
Will Factory Unlocked Galaxy S6 be the First Phone which will
Stay on 4G LTE during a call even when you get on the Internet?
Other Phones which are NOT Carrier Branded drop down to 3G during calls and thus have slower data speeds during calls etc.
The new Galaxy S6 Active will probably have an SD Card and much larger Battery -probably exclusive to AT&T
BUT Factory Unlocked Models will become available -
1)IF I get a Factory Unlocked S6 Active and turn on VoLTE Feature-will the Device stay on 4G LTE during calls with Data - VoLTE ?
2) Metro PCS LTE phones and Tmobile LTE Phones already have VoLTE so again what is the difference on S6 if you turn VoLTE on or off in the Menu ?
3) My Factory Unlocked Galaxy Alpha 850M does not have the VoLTE software for Metro/ Tmobile so I am on LTE but as soon as I make a call I drop to 3G ( it shows on the screen) with slower data and sometimes data interruption.
Will S6 do the same thing if an Unlocked Phone or be the first Factory Unlocked Phone with VoLTE across multiple Carriers ?

I have a MetroPCS Galaxy S6 Unlocked and VoLTE Works Fine and also I have the T-mobile firmware on it I'm not sure if that would change anything but I was just saying for me it works perfect

My brother brought Samsung Galaxy Note 9 SM-N960F. When calling him most of the calls goes to Voicemail so i just want to make sure it is the problem with network or phones bands that does not support to US bands

It's more than likely a network related issue, unless he has calls set to go straight to voicemail.
Which network/carrier is he using?

No,the phone should work just fine, unless he's in an area that is served solely by Band 71,which is highly unlikely,as most,if not all areas are served by at least two bands.
My guess is he needs to call LycaMobile & see what's going on.
Another couple of possibilities:
1) The phone he's using is region locked or blacklisted.
2) Check the APN & make sure it's correct, but, this shouldn't be necessary on an unlocked device.
An unlocked phone that is otherwise compatible should automatically use the proper APN for whatever SIM is installed.
I had a few different models of the Note FE & never had issues with calls/data & I'm on T-Mobile US,so,there's really no reason why this Note 9 shouldn't work.
That's why I suspect it's either region locked,or,something else is going on w/LycaMobile.
@alwynjoshy
Perhaps the phone's anti-spam feature is detecting your number as such & sending it directly to voicemail:

If that feature is indeed on his phone, have him turn it off & see if it helps.
