Question Need help decide, Review on Australian users of this phone. - Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

So I have two options, either the Xiaomi mi 11 ultra or Samsung galaxy note 20 ultra.
Now I am finding it really hard to decide, I really love the design and camera and everything on the Xiaomi 11 ultra, the seller will flash the global rom for me upon purchase.
Now have any of you have any trouble with the phone or local apps like banking apps, govt apps, social media apps etc?
What do I need to know what prepare for with this phone?
Thank you.

Hi Mate,
I got my phone from www.mi-store.com.au but unfortunately now out of stock. My version is the global version.
I was never a fan of Samsung since note 4, even though I tried s6, s8 , s9. So I cannot compare with Samsung because I left with no return.
I am really happy with this device and all apps are working perfect. But with the Chinese version with global rom, I do not have that experience, so I cannot help out.
But if you get the global version, I'd say go with it. Really happy with it, even though some points are still week. But still early release phone.
Good luck with your decision.

Hey, thanks for your reply, yes the global version is out of stock and no words of when it will be back. Which I am hesitate about of the apps and how will the system be after flash it. I haven't used Samsung in long time too. So I don't know either, but those are my options as I don't really like Apple either. Their system is annoying.

Question Root?

I wonder, if anyone already rooted their SWEET?
Found this article https://www.getdroidtips.com/root-redmi-note-10-pro/
Or does anyone found another soloution?
Not yet, received mine today
Btw will warranty be void if rooted? Never had a Xiaomi phone
It does matter, in which country you're living. In the EU you don't will lose warranty even if you root your phone.
I haven't, because i still need a few more days to feel how the oficial rom performences. But in a couple of days, i'm going to try a lot of "testings" .Even so, i'm still trying to understand a litle more about whats the compatibility between 10 and 10Pro roms/firmware.
I am quite confident with the original rom. But I am also looking forward to custom roms. But the camera has to work. I had the S21 Ultra before, pls don't laugh, but the camera of the note 10 pro isn't that worse.

Welcome to XDA
Sure in here you will find ways to improve your device!
May I ask why ?
I am totally happy with my mediatek redmi note 9
In part it may be on me not using it properly. You say your model is "Mediatek", is this the same as my phone? I'm also having difficulty rooting my phone, It would seem you have to get past MIUI, so there is that. Yes, a bit lost at the moment

Note 9 pro uses snapdragon 720G. Note 9 uses mediatek.
I'm very happy happy with my my note 9 pro. And for the moment I don't see the need of change rom. The other day it updated to miui 12, based on android 11, and goes well.
Oh good to know re: snapdragon and mediatek. That's terrific you guys are liking your appliances right out of the box. I'd love to hear from others who are not so pleased and what they've done. I keep wanting to pull down from the top to see my controls and of course they don't show up. Is this me or is it MIUI ergonomics? Thank you for your responses. I'll see what I can do to change things.
What is the problem with rooting?
oh hi 171, are you asking me? Or just putting this out there? Nothing is wrong with rooting IMO, although I find it as difficult as collecting hens teeth, because there is so much information and it's hard to keep it straight, and it varies sometimes between builds, and between phones.

General I am starting to hate this phone now for one reason!

No custom ROMs. Stupid Xiaomi please release the source and kernel. We are past 4 months and nothing till now. Oneplus 9 pro on the other hand released 5 days before this phone and I see 10+ custom roms in the forum already. Such a great phone with so much user reach and xiaomi doesnt care about software. Only people from China are getting updates every 3 weeks or so (iam not talking about xiaomi.eu rom). Completely neglected Global rom and India rom.
Issue with this company is: It releases 10+ phones in the same price range with different hardware every 6 months and forgets about software completely. If you cant update the software, release the source and kernel for developers atleast!
Agreed
Why u guys talk so much about custom rom?
Im satisfied with eu rom now
Almost nothing need to change
definitely.
They did release kernel sources.

easy easy bro, calm da f*** down.
it's all have a solution, why don't you focus on what actually you using phone for? like play game, multitasking, or take a photo ,etc..
so, let take some experience with another users like me, why you dont try MIUI MIX (MMX Team) it's not bad because it's base on EU ROM.

I can create a 5 hour video with all the bugs that I have on xiaomi.eu rom. Its not perfect if you don't look at it in that way. Iam a developer myself and i dont look at things like a end user does. Sorry if i hurt your feelings.

How do sales compare to s21u or the one plus 9 pro ?
I think the global variant is overpriced tbh.... especially for a Xiaomi phone
Apple can get away with ridiculous prices and even Samsung to some degree but Xiaomi doesn't ring synonymous with prestige flagship grade experience
They're the cheap and cheerful brand...
My friend bought a Poco f3 yesterday and it's a great phone for it's price

Aren't we supposed to talk about it? I personally would prefer a custom rom like LineageOS over MIUI anytime.
Good for you, you are satisfied with it... i am not. And i totally agree with the thread-owner, i start to hate it too.
I don't hate my phone, I just hate Chinese Firmware. Now I'm waiting for Bootloader and will install Xiaomi.eu
Agreed. Never seen something as horrible as MIUI. Nothing but stupid effects.
If i knew that beforehand, I'd never had bought a xiaomi.
And no, the .eu rom doesn't fix any of its problems.

Well, he can probably make a 5 hour video about that and attach here.
Unbelievable how ignorant (not to say different word) you should be to buy a phone than wait and hope for a custom rom (even though nobody on planet earth promised one).Than you go online and trashtalk the company, the phone and so on,only reason being your own wrong choice.
This is pure stupidity at its best.

S21 > Oneplus 9 pro > Something Else > Mi11 Ultra. There. I fixed it for you
Not sure why you get personal here.
I always had phones using a clean and functional OS. I knew that the asian customers prefer it more colorful and I expected exactly this. But what Xiaomi delivers with MIUI is a slap for everyone not deepdiving into their software beforehand.
Why is a compass app installed systemwise? Yes you can disable it and even uninstall it via adb. Why can't you hide apps in the drawer? Lets say I dislike their contacts app and want to use another one, I then have to have both on the drawer without the ability to hide theirs (yes, you can hide some non-system apps behind the app-lock). Why does Onehanded Mode not work with gestures? Why do they force you to wait for 7 days before you can unlock the bootloader and why do you need a sim-card in the phone for this and give them your number?
The "cleaner" app does nothing but spying, even worse that such software doesn't even (ever) work on Linux based OS. Not mentioning the "security" app that is another piece of scam software they integrated some system relevant services into while on the other hand, blocking essential android services and thus create a lot of issues non-existant on other devices.
If you ask me, MIUI as a whole is nothing but a scam. Google sniffing apps can at least be disabled, no chance for the Xiaomi ones.

Here's the reality, there really isn't that much demand for custom roms. However, there are two that I know of, Xiaomi.eu and MIUI MIX. ONE OS may also have one, but I am not sure on that though. And even though you do need kernel info, you can't expect them to release the proprietary info regarding the rear screen and other features. So even if a rom could be made, there are many things that the developers would not be able to make work. For example, the Mi 10 Pro went the greater part of a year before one started to see custom roms for it. Custom roms, back in the day, were updated regularly and in some cases nightly. Now the original rom and security update can be several months old and it might also be several months before a new version appears. In my opinion, it's really not worth it nowadays and the most of the devs seem to have found that out too.
As for their marketing, I too feel they release to many phones, but apparently it's working as they have become number one in the world.

Question Should I buy a redmi note 10 pro?

Hello, everyone. I'm hoping to join the redmi note 10 pro community very soon. However, I'm really confused whether I should invest in it because most of the reviews on Youtube are saying that there is always bugs. I was just wondering if any of you could tell me whether most of the bugs have been fixed by now. I just want to know if it is at least usable. It's got literally every feature I want. All I need to know is how is the software holding up. I've seen that even the Redmi note 10 is more stable than note 10 pro. I really hope that's not true.
Thanks in advance.
In my experience with it, which would be a few weeks now... I have not had any problems with it, as I am not what you would describe as a "power user".
All basic features which you would expect a mid-range smartphone to have, work perfectly.
This is all from my experiences, and my opinion. Hopefully someone else on here can also comment their thoughts.
I bought it one week ago: Only really bad thing is the AOD (better: NOT always on display). Furthermore, I didn't mention a single bug till now. So if you can deal without a AOD (there is a hack around, but it will suffer much from battery), buy it, really nothing wrong with it.

If you use your phone to connect to your car then please DO NOT BUY this phone. Android Auto does not work, irrespective of which region ROM you flash ,Seems to be an issue with the MIUI 12.5 and i am hoping this to be resolved with Android 12, but its JUST a hope.
Buy only if you're going to flash custom ROMs. Otherwise samsung can be a better alternative.
Thank you guys for replying so soon!

Android Auto is totally unheard of where I live xD. But yeah, I don't have a car so I can live with that. Honestly, though it's annoying that such a big company can't manage to fix the bugs on such a popular phone like this.
Regardless, I think I'll actually buy this phone cos it's got literally every feature you could ask for, including Dolby sound. I'm coming from a bloody Huawei P smart 2018 so literally any phone I buy will be great right now

I do have experience flashing custom ROMs but it was really bad. Every ROM I flashed had some kind of weird issue like WiFi wasn't working or GPS had issues and even the sound quality became worse.
Did you face any issues like these with your ROMs?

No such issues. We just need to find the right ROM.
No issues at all using CrDroid for "normal" use.

I'm glad to hear that! I have watched many reviews, especially the ones after 60 days or 120 days and literally everyone said they faced this bug or that bug. The bugs itself are not always same but there is always bugs.
Anyway, I might actually end up buying it!
what about the proximity sensor issue ? Is it fixed when using custom roms ?
This phone rocks
Plenty of nice ROM depends of what you want.
Android Auto is working like a charm for me, battery is perfect and 0 bug, using Arrow OS. I'm really glad that i switched for this phone few months ago.

Not for me sadly, very buggy in WhatsApp with AOSP Extended,
I think this is the most popular mid-range phone going around. Its reviews are great. I had Redmi Note 10 which was a budget masterpiece, had an insane battery life. This one surely will be better overall as its the pro model. I think in its budget this one is worth it.

General MIUI 13 global is just MIUI 12.5

So i just finished updating to MIUI 13 global on my supposedly new Xiaomi 11T Pro. Only to find out that it basically doesn't bring anything new. Literally nothing apart from that completely useless side bar.
The biggest new feature that Xiaomi was hyping everyone with is the new widgets. We'll they're missing. Nothing but the old 2009 looking widgets.
Even Android 12 features like color palettes thems are not included..
I means what's the point of this update. 3.5 gigabytes of update to instal a stupid side bar and some ugly wallpapers.
I'm really disappointed in this phone and in Xiaomi overall. Too bad it's a new phone that i can not change right now. But my next smartphone will definitely not be from Xiaomi.
Sadly i was a fan of this company and their business model. Now they're just taking us for fools.
500 euros phone doesn't get the features that 150 euros phones are getting from the same damn company. What is this.
I'll be going back to Samsung after all.
Have a good one fellas
I also think that 11t pro will be my first and last xiaomi phone, hardware is fine but software side of things is realy bad, im coming from oneplus2 as my last phone and software on that device was better i hope that lineageos will be available for 11t pro also
I'm the same, I've reported a bug and even how to fix it regarding Wi-Fi calling support in the UK (have had the fix on my personal device for a couple of months and it works perfectly but of course just for me) and it really requires Xiaomi to update their modem code. Every Qualcomm device they sell has the bug on EE in the UK due to bad config settings. Despite using the feedback tools months ago, raising it in their official forum which seems to be nothing more than PR management, the bug isn't fixed, and the file I linked to with details of the config settings hasn't been opened by anyone let alone Xiaomi. So just ignored.
They have far too many devices to be able to issue decent software on any of them as they can't have the resources to deal with them all.
Hardware is good, basically Qualcomm reference design with decent screen and camera, but the software is poor and support just doesn't exist.
I will not buying another one of their products ever again.
