Looks like proximity sensor is missing from X60 Pro Plus. I noticed unwanted screen touch when I lift phone to attend call.

Hey, I'm using Moto X 2013 Xt1052 running Lollipop 5.1, My proximity sensor is not working, I'm sure it's the proximity sensor because I used test apps and I can see it's detecting proximity all the time at a distance of 3cm.
Obviously, my biggest problem with that is that my screen goes dark when I make a call (Because the proximity sensor think the phone is near my ear). Trying to use the power button to turn on the screen didn't work so I set the power button to hangup calls (Otherwise I had to wait for the other side to hang up!).
I think the Proximity sensor has got some Hardware defect, Please help me telling a way how to disable the proximity sensor so that while placing a call the screen won't go off.
I have the same problem on my phone. It happens not always but sometimes during calls. Or when I hear a long vocal on whatsapp putting the phone on the ear.

It's very hard to disable it in software. The best way is to open up the phone and physically remove the sensor from the PCB. It's easy to chop it of with a flat screwdriver.Problem solved.
I have been having a Proximity Sensor issue for some time. The solution to this is so the touch screen doesn't work.
Recently bought galaxy m31 and found out that i have to press my phone real hard on my ear to screen to go off during call. I never faced such issue with previous devices. So i searched on google and found *#0*# to check sensor working or not. Sensor is working correctly but there is no fixed place of sensor, seems like whole upper part of touch screen is used as sensor and there is no actual optical proximity sensor inside this phone. It's also clearly written Virtual Proximity sensing. Anyone facing same issue on this device or any other phone which uses this technology and any fix for this?
I have also the same problem. Thanks, at least you dig deeper "virtual proximity sensor".

It doesn't have any separate proximity sensor, rathor the front camera works as a proximity sensor. Try covering the front camera properly.
Hello,
does anyone know how the virtual proximity sensor works?
AIDA64 and other apps say it is a "Ear Hover Proximity Sensor (ProToS)"
The same sensor should be in the Galaxy A51 as I found here
http://stools.gleamolabs.com/sensors/devices/1698
I know that it has no more real infrared proximity sensor.
Just accidentally stumbled over this post. Can you tell me how this ear hover proximity sensor performs? From the name I'd guess it only detects proximity if an ear is actually covering the sensor, and pocketing the device or waving your hand over the sensor will not trigger it, correct?

when I first heard about this phone it sounded like a fantastic device, that impression keeps getting eroded.
Hello.
Im new to tasker, my problem is my proximity sensor is almost useless since the front glass is broken on the top of it.
Is there a way to read the ambient light values and trigger some functionalities. Such as AOD and lift to check. Using pixel 3xl btw.
