Hi,
I would like to have something like pocket mode on my phone. Right now when I have it in my pocket, sometimes it wakes and enters emergency mode and when I take my phone out of my pocket, there are random digits typed. Is it possible to have pocket mode from tasker, so when in my pocket, double tap to wake won't work, tap to show ambient display won't work and raise to wake won't work? It would be good if that didn't have any impact (or close to none) on battery and didn't affect usability of these functions after taking out of my pocket.

my screen seems to randomly turn itself on and off during calls and I sometimes press a few buttons and even close the call. and it's a bit embarrassing to admit that my phone has a problem. does anyone have a fix for it? I'm currently on jpk
end calls should not happen
the proximity sensor automatically turns off the screen to prevent accidental touch to the buttons
it takes about 1/2 second to react
if you talk normally it should never light up for you to accidentally touch the buttons
but if you keep checking why the screen is on/off on/off
that will drive the screen / sensor crazy
it was like that for me the first day
i was rather annoyed that the screen always turned off, i wanted to disable that feature, but now that i got used to it i find it rather useful to prevent accidental drop calls
personally i browse and write notes a lot during a phone call to look up info and take down customer orders
so having the screen on/off automatically was a pain in the royal highness, but i found a great solution
switch to BT headset whenever i need to check for info and browse on the phone, then it wont go on/off automtically as it's not near my face
thanks for the info!
This is a very common problem caused by positioning sensor overriding proximity sensor when the phone is placed horizontally or close to it. So if you tilt your head during a call the screen will turn on and you could disconnect/place on hold etc. I saw this feature/feature was fixed for other devices by adding an option to disable positioning sensor in calls (changing dialer.apk file), but could not find anything for i9000

I know my wife's hero is not natively designed to behave like my EVO in regards to in-call sleeping/waking of the display screen but I wondered if there is an app or hack available?
My phone shuts off the screen when I hold it up to my ear (talking on the phone) and when I lower it during a call to say, enter a PIN number or "choose 1 for English" the screen wakes up and allows to to do what I want, and then shuts off again once it is held up to my ear.
The wife's Hero does not know when the phone is up to her ear, and the display simply times out based on the time-out setting. When she lowers the phone to "choose 1 for English" she has to hit the menu button first to wake the display.
Is there a hack or app (other that the "proximity sensor app" that uses the light sensor) that uses the G sensor to turn the display on/off during calls?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!
So does anyone else have this issue... when I have smart display on and put my phone in the cup holder of my car, the screen never turns off.... it thinks I'm holding the phone...
As it uses the motion sensors, this should be normal. Standing upright and moving makes it appear to be in active use.
Is it possible not to turn screen on when I rise my hand? When I ride bike the watch turns screen on rather frequently and it causes huge battery drain. Of course, I can enable theater mode but the watch stops notify of calls, messages, etc (vibration I mean). Is there any way to disable the gesture and have notifications at the same time (tasker, autowear, ...)?
The option to enable/disable 'Tilt to wake screen' is in the watch's settings in the Android Wear app on your phone.
Wow, I've never seen this option before Thanks!
I noticed that whenever I make a phone call, I have to actually press my S10 on my ears in order to make the screen go off. It never happened on any of my phones. I also did a Sensor test with an app and it also showed me that I have to press on the upper screen instead of just floating above it.
Anyone else? Or may I have a faulty device?
I have been wrestling with Samsung and Runtastic about the proximity sensor, which no longer works on my S10 for doing push-ups. It seems that the sensor is now under the screen, and is only made active when a phone call is on. This is probably why they are having issues with the phone coming on in people's pockets. The most interesting thing is that when you do a *#0*# diagnostic and press the 'sensor' button, the proximity sensor does not even appear. On my old S7 you can cover the proximity sensor with your hand and it will vibrate and the screen will go green. Seems to be crippled functionality and a poor call from Samsung if that is the case.
Im on the opposite side.. When im making a call, a put the phone away from my ear and the screen does not turn on. Im pressing the power button to turn on the screen.
Mine when I finish the call I ended in the search for Bluetooth devices with Bluetooth on or in some cases on the call screen but with the key numbers enabled and some numbers typed, that's very annoying, even when I press the phone to my ear.
I'm using with the free case on the box maybe I will try without the case and see if the problem still there.
My model it's s10e exynos
Yeah, something is wrong with it. My screen goes dark almost immediately during phone calls, even when it's sitting on a table using the speaker. I have to press the power button to turn the screen back on each time I make a call.
Yah. When I pull the phone from my ear my screen is always black. So I have to wake the phone.
since the last update (March 1st, 2020) I've noticed that the little proximity sensor light above the battery percentage is lighting up A LOT. Is it doing this for anyone else??
