Hey,
Received an "old" s2 sm-t810 wifi version with Nougat running on it and want to make it usable in the household.
What is my best best? Looking at the devices list I see gts210wifi is not supported but gts210wifi (2016) is.
My questions are:
I am able to verify it is a wifi version (looking at the icons in the slidedown panel) but I am not sure which codename (gts210wifi or gts210wifi) this tablet is. How can I verify? Ideally I don't want to enable wifi on this unsafe (android version 7) tablet and install something from the play store.
Is it correct that gts210vewifi is supported by lineageOS and if so which version can I install on this tablet. How can I verify which is the latest lineageOS version this tablet is able to run?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or help.
Undersound
I have an SM-T810 and am running Lineage (Android 9) with no problems. The Lineage thread is hers:

@walts thanks for your reply. Good to hear android 9 is running smooth on it.
Question about security/safety regarding custom roms. How do you check if this custom rom is safe to use. I don't want to suggest this rom has been tampered with but I would like to know how and if this can be checked.
If not, I guess building one yourself is the only option?

Maybe someone with some skills can fork it to the our Mi 11 phones?
The Mi 11 still doesn't have custom roms =(
I wish more devs will get the Mi 11
Yh it is sad that the mi 11x has such a variety of ROMs but it's mainly due to the fact that it's more accessible as it's half the price of the mi11.
Personnaly i'm not waiting so much Lineage or Other ROM until there always a looooot of bugs (especialy data or APN) and by experience we back always to a stock rom or custom stock rom for stability.
I had root/test a lot ROMS on all my devices since 2012, now i'm done, and MIUI 13 arrived.
I would like to prolong the life of my Tab S2 SM-T719 (8 inch LTE, 2016), which is running Android 7, not rooted
I have done a fair bit of reading through the various threads, but I have a couple of questions about the install
- apologies if these questions have been asked before
- and also if this is in the wrong thread / forum
1) How to find out what is fixed and what is working
At the beginning of the thread
[GUIDE/TUTORIAL/HOWTO] Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 stock to Android 10
[GUIDE/TUTORIAL/HOWTO] Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 stock to Android 10 [GUIDE/TUTORIAL/HOWTO] Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 (models SM-T713, T719, T813, T819) stock to Android 10 Q / LineageOS 17.1 Supported models: - SM-T713 (gts28vewifi) - SM-T719...
forum.xda-developers.com
there is a warning
### Camera doesn't work, 3G/Data network doesn't work
I currently use the Tab S2 as my mobile phone (both over 4G and with WhatsApp calls) and also with the App PolarSteps to take pictures when travelling
- so both of the 'Not working' items are crucial
In general, is there a way to find out what is working and what is not fixed without trawling through the 50 odd pages in
[ROM][UNOFFICIAL][10] LineageOS 17.1 [T713][T719][T813][T819]

Specifically, with the latest build
a) is the camera working ?
b) can I make calls over 4G ?
c) can I make WhatsApp calls ?
2) How to recover a bricked phone or revert
The disclaimers say 'not responsible if you end up bricking your phone' - which is fair enough
However, is there any help or a HOWTO revert to a stock Android in the event of a bricked phone
- or even if I just change my mind and want to go back to the original Samsung Android ?
I found the following article for the Tab S2 10 inch LTE or 8 inch wifi (couldn't find anything similar for Tab S2 8 inch LTE)
Install LineageOS on gts210ltexx | LineageOS Wiki
wiki.lineageos.org
Install LineageOS on gts28vewifi | LineageOS Wiki
wiki.lineageos.org
in which there is a section
Installing a custom recovery using heimdall
Is this a recovery process or part of the actual LineageOS installation ?
Thanks to all who have contributed to the development, for reading this and any suggestions
I've done a bit more reading and now better appreciate the install process
For query 2 I now understand the need for the custom recovery
Any help with identifying which issues still exist would be appreciated - particularly

Is there any good kernel for gaming for samsung m20 SM-M205G with sakura project 5.1/lineage os 18.1 (i use sakura project but since it based on lineage os so i though it would be the same) or a kernel with good memory management because with the stock kernel its hard to multitasking because the background apps always got closed even though i leave it for only 5s.

try gear kernel
The A8 is pretty much the perfect tablet for me so far, I use it mostly to browse and read, but the battery is not holding up very well, and it takes well over two minutes to start.
This is the SM-X205 with Android 13. Hardware is CPU Unisoc T618 with 3GB RAM and the Mali G52 GPU (according to DevCheck).
Tried to disable/uninstall lots of things, but it is kinda tedious to mess with that all the time. I am out of date with what I could use for a custom ROM, haven't used any in years.
Would it even be a better solution? I read CyanogenMod was replace by LineageOS. Would that be an improvement?
Other suggestions?
Had a peek over here for tips and will look in to that meanwhile: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/discontinued-samsung-galaxy-one-ui-optimization-guide.4376755/
Install the Lineage OS 20 or 19 GSI Rom, it runs way Smoother than the Stock OneUI 5. Though I am not sure about battery life.
Wipe the tablet and flash LOS 20 ASAP
Install a Kernel Manager and change CPU governor to "Performance"
Magisk Modules
- Disable Client Composition Cache
- STune Boost Tweak
- WiFi Boost&Opt
@kevinco1 Would you be so kind as to elaborate on the Kernel Manager, and if relevant, which to use, once I get LOS 20 up and running?
It may take some days since I need to read up a bit on how to install.
Meanwhile I only see the older version of A8 on the LOS site.

Will it be ok with the LTE/WiFi device I have?
Hmm, some info here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/gsi-12-unofficial-lineageos-19-sm-x200.4495865/
Need to read up a bit more.

Samsung Tab A8 Supports only GSI roms, you can download Lineage OS GSI from Andy Yan's Soureforge https://sourceforge.net/projects/andyyan-gsi/files/
OK checking that.
Treble info tells me I should use system-arm64-ab.img.xz .
Hm, what's the diff with or without superuser (s or n build)
I guess this is where to read..

Oh, I think I need a refresher on the flashing process, so I guess that would still be the basic instructions provided on the LOS pages? Does GSI differ significantly?
Seems Odin is still around and updated.

I use EX Kernel Manager which gives you a lot of different ways to tweak CPU/GPU/memory but unfortunately with the SM-X200 all you can do is change the CPU governor since it's the stock kernel and not custom. So it's not hard to set up at all

How Much Performance Benefit will there be If we set the CPU Governor to Performance? Will it significant enough to even notice?

I can't provide before and after numbers, Geekbench will not install. But together with those modules there is a significant boost for sure, otherwise I wouldn't have mentioned it. Try it out for yourself, just takes a few seconds to change the setting
And like you said before, switching out OneUI for LOS 20 in itself will make things faster for sure
Reading LOS setup info it really looks a whole lot more complex that I have seen before.
But it uses Odin so that's something...

I ran Geekbench (PrimeLabs?)with the following result BEFORE any messing with other roms
I did do some attempts at uninstalling stuff, but do not see any big perfomance gains ..
TensorFlow CPU score was 162
