Android Studio Difficulty - Android Studio

Hi Guys,
I'm new to the world of development. A mentor told me to download Android Studio and I'm having some issues and couldn't find customer support for them anywhere so I researched some forums and stumbled upon this site.
Anyways, I successfully downloaded Android Studio on High Sierra, but it was running really slow so I researched some potential fixes and found this article.
⚡ Is Your Android Studio Always Slow? 🚀Here’s How to Speed Up Immediately.
A very quick and effective trick to boost Android Studio
medium.com
I disabled all the things they were saying to disable in the article and when I went to restart the program it wouldn't launch at all.
I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it and it still won't launch.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for the quick reply !
I thought that was detailed ! LOL !
I'm not sure I have much else to report.
Maybe you can ask me a question about something you feels needs further clarification and that'll help me understand what you're looking for.
Thank you so much !

So your only issue is that its slow?
What’s your pc specs?

It being slow was my initial issue but now the app won't even launch. The 'not launching' is the issue I came on here for...not the slowness. Although if we figure out how to get the app launching again maybe you have some tips for that too.
I've attached my specs.

You don't get any error codes?
Sorry im a windows user not mac 0~0

No worries. There are no error codes. I double click the app and nothing happens. It's strange since I had downloaded it earlier today and had it working just fine (minus the slowness).

Doe’s macos have a task manager?

Yes, it's called activity monitor. Is there anything in particular you want to see?

Market issues ...

I am not sure how many others out there may have experienced the issues I am about to describe, but it is extremely annoying. So I am asking all devs out there to please hear out this issue. I have searched all over for a solution with no result.
ISSUE:
Every action I perform in the Market takes nearly about 1 minute. So for instance, just opening Market takes about 1 minute to load the default Market home screen. So then I see an app I am curious of and click on it. It then takes another minute before the content about the app is fully displayed. Then lets say I want to install the app and click install. If permissions are required, it then takes another minute before that dialog fully displays with the OK/Cancel buttons. Then when the install completes, I can see in the notification bar that the application installed successfully, but the status of the app in the Market remains in the Installing state until I reboot my phone.
Other issues I have noticed is that going to GAMES --> ALL GAMES or APPS --> ALL APPS, I do not see the top paid apps or top paid games.
I have seen this behavior for all apps purchased and free.
Here are other factors. I have experienced this issue on both stock and custom ROMS. I am a big fan of Cyanogen and have tried the various methods on his wiki with no success. I have experienced this issue on different phones as well (i.e. MyTouch & Nexus One). I called Nexus One support and ran through all of their usual troubleshooting methods with no success. They eventually gave up and told me it was a T-Mobile problem.
Here's the other odd issue is that if I wipe my phone and log in with my wife's account, I don't have this problem. Google suggested I setup a new account, but that is not happening. I have had my gmail account since the beginning of time when they first offered trials for gmail. I also have purchased around 70 apps through the market.
Here is a logcat output I captured while attempting to download an app:
http://pastebin.com/BXWkS8DJ
Any help would be greatly appreciated because I am now starting to lose interest in the Market because of this issue.
Thanks!
wrong section. q&a is where you wanna be
I am having the same issues and it sucks... sorry I cant help.. just wanted to let you know your not alone and it should be looked into
I understand where your going with that. I have posted the same in the newbie section with 0 responses. This section is where the magic happens. So I was hoping one of the devs out here might give a helping hand to figure out this issue. I have posted in the Market forums with 0 replys. I have contacted Google support directly with no luck other than directing me to T-Mobile blaming their service as the issue, even though I get the same problem over wireless.

Hey I appreciate the support man and I am glad to know that I am not the only one with this annoying issue. I have been a loyal customer to allot of these great devs out there and have purchased over 70 apps on my phone and then repaid for lots of those on my wifes phone just because I truly believe in supporting great talent. But ever since I have been having this issue (since moving from my G1 to the MyTouch and still with the Nexus), I haven't even had the interest to browse the market for new apps.

[Q] Screen shaking

Hi All,
I am very new to galaxy tab.
I am running on official gingerbread, flashed following the guidelines on the site. Other than a checksum error it went smoothly and working just fine.
I have another problem though. When I hold it in portrait mode, trying to move up and down with my finger causes the screen to shake.
Somerimes more sonetines a little less but it is always there.
In landscaepe mode it almost does not exist, working smooth.
I tried doing a lot of search but could.not find anything on it.
unfortunately I did not pay attenrion if it was hapening on stock froyo, did not stay on that long enough.
Charging or not does not affect it.
Being suspicious about screen protector I rwmoved it but no change
Did anyone else experience anyrhing similar?
Thanks in advance for help.
Same problem here
Hi, I have the same problem here, I did woked on froyo for about a day or two, and the problem was not there, I upgraded to Overcome 2.0 and the problem is now there.
Similar to you, on landscape the problem is less evident, but still there.
In my case, on you-tube application, I don't have any shacking.
I hope someone finds a solution, problem seems to be software-based.
I just checked it, you are right, youtube does not present the same problem.
Lets hope for a solution from the experts.
Cheers
anyone?
this shaking is driving me nuts......the screen shakes so much when held down down that it pretty much renders google maps unuseable.
HELP PLEASE!!!
is it a screen sensitivity issue that we can tweak or something?
i've been googling for a month for answers now but no luck...
please please...
Similar topic in XDA
Hi guys, there is a similar topic here in XDA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14354988&posted=1#post14354988
I have the same problem in my Galaxy Tab, and I show in a page in fgfaria.com
I now suspect it may be a deffect in some specific feature in some library used by some apps and not used in other apps.
I installed Android SDK in my PC, and created an simple app following a tutorial, with a list of countries that can be scrolled up and down. In this very simple app, the problem doesn't happen, just like youtube.
I've found an app that could potentially solve the problem, but my GT is not rooted, and can't use it. It's called "ILITEK Touch Utility" and it's available for free in Android Market.
Let me know if it's useful for any of you.
Regards,
Fabio
My tab does exactly the same thing as per your weblink.
The app i have download but once i hit the calibrate button, I somehow get denied access.
Any way around it? This shaking is getting old......sigh
Software, not hardware
Hi all,
In addition to touch test apps and youtube app, there are some other apps that don't present the problem. One specific interesting case is the one of the HelloListView tutorial presented in Android Developers website.
I've followed the tutorial, and created this illustrative app that just creates a list and allows you to scroll up and down. This specific app doesn't present the problem we've been discussing. I've made it available for download as apk file in the end of that same testing page (fgfaria.com)
That application being so simple and not presenting the problem, and the other apps that also don't present it, makes me think that the problem may appear when some specific library gets included in an app. Possibly something related to hardware acceleration, for example (just guessing, no specific reasons to believe that).
If only we could isolate the cause of the problem, we could notify Google and/or Samsung and influence a new patch release.
This is as far as I have gone so far. Ideas, reactions?
Regards,
Fabio

Hi Chris, I believe the denied access is because the GT is not rooted. The app must need access to pretty low level adjustments, and only rooting the device would make that possible.
I have the same messages in my GT, but rooting is kind of my last option to solve this.
My current options are:
1) Wait for an official Gingerbread update
2) If that doesn't solve, I'll contact my factory warranty
3) If they deny this is a problem, or if they can't fix it, I'll try rooting and using this app
While the first option is not available, I'll continue my search for another fix.
Cheers,
Fabio

Another possible explanation for the problem not happening in the app from the tutorial is that libraries being used include some kind of filter not used in problematic apps...
mine shakes but not noticable,.. i didn't notice this on froyo
Hi,
Thank you all for responses. I have been searching too but did not find anything.
However I have a theory.
The screen shaking phenomenon does not happen (or unnoticably little) when you are on a dark screen. Web browser included.
Is this your observation too?
Cheers
mine do shake even if its dark, originally i found this "bug" couple of days ago, when im in bed late at night, i initially thought that the shaking was via my finger, and was surprised to see this post a while ago
Note: My tab is rooted because I'm currently running the Overcome 2.0 RC1 rom.
*major headache *
Fully agree! Mine shakes only in light background! Same problem, but in this case, it looks more like a hardware issue than software (intuitively, at least, hardware is more likely to be affected by screen luminosity than software). The solution though, could be a software filter of fast screen movements...
Anyone? There is a solution for Galaxy S (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=844216&page=3#). There must be a solution for Galaxy Tab 7 too...
Hi everyone,
Is the same problem happening in the new 2.3.3 asia roms?
Do you have any experience?
Cheers.

[Q] Working version of Words with Friends?

Hi guys, long time lurker first time poster
Trying to get Words with Friends working on my new NST, I've tried a few versions and it will start and login, and show my games, but when I try to enter a game the app restarts.
I've seen a few posts mentioning people having it working to various degrees, but they're from eg. Feb 2012, and if I try a version that old it demands to update.
Anyone know a version that works? Cheers!

I am guessing do to the silence in replies to this old post, that few have found the answer, but I was wondering if anyone else has figured out a way to run wwf. I have tried multiple versions, and I get them to install, but then when each loads the game, it fails every time. I was just wondering if anyone has gottne words to run.
I have tried running dmseg and logcat, but I need to learn how to use them a bit better on the nst, because the output is a bit more dense than what I am used to.

In need of a Store xap/cab

Does anyone have an xap/cab for the Store for Windows 8 or 10? That may be the key to getting 10 fully functioning on some unsupported devices. If anyone has an idea for sideloading the Store, please let me know.
EDIT: Another thing that would be useful is the URI for Update.

I am looking for the same thing, so giving this thread a bump. This is necessary for those of us on unsupported devices because we're stuck in a catch 22: when we install W10, wifi doesn't work - to get it to work we have to do a hard reset, but when we do that, our devices fail to install the core apps (no settings, no store, etc.). Hopefully if we can at least figure out how to sideload the store, we'll be able to get the other apps by finding them on the store.
Help me, XDA... you're my only hope!

I was able to get to 10 without breaking WiFi by doing a hard reset at 8.1.1 before updating to 10166. Then I updated to 10512 and installed my apps individually. I was able to update to 10536 too. Still can't safely hard reset. I'm considering trying again since you can now go directly to 10536 from 8.1.1. Let me know if you try anything else.

Interesting. How does that work? Doesn't the hard reset get rid of all the changes you made to the registry to make Windows Insider offer Windows 10 Preview enrollment? If so, do you do a hard reset and then do the bare minimum to make the registry changes, and then do the upgrade? Should I go with Insider Slow first, and then switch to Insider Fast after confirming that wifi works?
Would really appreciate it if you could provide some more detail. Thanks!

Yes, I do the bare minimum to receive the update after doing a hard reset. I'm moving into a new place this week so I can't spend time on my phone, but if you try this out please let me know your results. I want to make sure this method is a solution.
Attempting now. Will provide an update shortly.

Pixel / Daydream / VR Apps

Hey everyone,
So I've been trying to "modernize" my phone, since I'm under the impression that I can get another 2-3 years out of it. So far I have:
-Running 7.1.1 stock rooted w/Franco kernel
-Hacked to include Pixel launcher (works great)
-Hacked to include Assistant (works great)
-Hacked to run Daydream (works great(ish)) -These tutorials are all available online and are pretty simple if you kinda know what you're doing
I bought a Daydream headset and have been playing with the apps. Some seem to work fine, and some won't run, some won't install. This seems like pretty fresh territory, so I haven't found much help online.
I know our phone supposedly doesn't meet the intended hardware specs (thermal characteristics, and GPU speed?), but it sure seems capable enough to me.
-Home screen and remote - works no problem.
-Playstore - works no problem.
-Netflix VR - works no problem.
-Arts & Culture - works no problem.
-Asteroids - This is pretty awesome. It's a demo of an animated episode (not the old game). It has 3D sound, which I wasn't expecting since the Netflix VR app didn't have it.
-Youtube VR - won't install (sideload). A little research, and it sounds like this app won't run on our phone's architecture. As far as I know, I can't force it to run. I'm very interested in getting this to work though.
-NextVR - Launches to blank screen.
-Hello Mars - works no problem. Lacking content it seems.
-JauntVR - works no problem.
-Littlestar - opens to non-side-by-side screen.
-InceptionVR - opens to non-side-by-side screen.
-Etc.. haven't tried very many yet.
For some of these, I wonder... I have my phone "posing" as a Pixel XL. I wonder if it would make a difference if I changed it to Pixel regular instead.
Anyhow, there must be others out there who are interested in exploring Daydream on our Nexus 6. Please share your experiences/expertise or point to relevant threads I may have missed!
Unfortunately I am in the same situation as you are, but I am just as interested in getting it resolved. The Daydream UI and the apps that are working actually work very well. What I found is the apps that are opening single screen are doing so because of our device info. I can go into the build.prop and edit the ro.product.device to marlin instead of shamu the app will open in a side by side screen. The only problem is that my phone reboots after running for a few minutes (even if I am not in daydream). I emailed the app developer of "AFFECTED:The Manor" and he said they will adjust the app requirements in their next update, but we can't expect everyone to be so helpful. We need to come up with a way to edit the build.prop info without causing rebooting. Keep me posted and I will do the same ...
Very cool, glad I'm not alone here.
I did notice that Netflix seemed to have picked out that my device was a Shamu, but luckily at least that app doesn't care.
FYI it looks like a bunch more apps just got added to the in-Daydream app-store. Going to try a few of those, and also trying to get google photos working.
Having trouble with Google Pictures in daydream. I get a message saying there is no daydream content for this app. I tried the same build.prop mod you mentioned, and it did not help with that app. I can confirm it did fix the others which didn't previously work. It threw off my kernel though, so I set it back to Shamu. I didn't experience reboots, but I had it set that way for about 10 minutes only.
Guys remember that there is a reason the nexus 6 didnt make the cut. One of the main reasons being that it wont be getting the vulcan drivers that daydream will need. By forcing it you could damage your device beyond repair. Its a high risk for something that will most likely die out over the next few years.

That is going to be the key to getting those apps working, it is pulling info from the build.prop to verify it should run in the dual screen mode. I just can't figure out how to make the edit and have my device run correctly. I noticed when I changed shamu to marlin even some of my apps updated (like camera) to the pixel camera, but it is supposed to run on 64 bit system so it crashed. I think the change will have to take place on the app side, which is unfortunate.

It's kinda old, but it sounds like there's more lines that may need to be changed besides [ro.product.device].

Yea, I had tried all combinations one at a time and all at once and my device would always reboot. I found during the trial and error that only the ro.product.device was what the app was reading, but could not stop the rebooting.
