Carrier aggregation - Samsung Galaxy S10 Questions & Answers

Hi everybody, i bought an s10 snapdragon and im using it in europe, i ve problems with carrier aggregation. I d already known that the snap version doesnt match band20 with the others. The problem is that it doenst aggregate any lte band. Is there a way to modify the carrier aggregation without root? I ve read some guide on this forum but im not sure they work with s10. Thanks

So what version of S10 you have bought? US version do not support example combinations used in Europe.

Nothing you can do - sell and buy European version. Here listed supported combinations: https://cacombos.com/device/SM-G977U

Carrier Aggregation combinations are compiled to modem firmware so you can't edit these. To update these need source code of modem firmware and then need sign key to sign firmware otherwise your phone modem will brick. On cacombos.com have listed hardware defined combinations.

Galaxy Note 9 Developer Ecition

Is there any news on Samsung doing a Developer Edition of their Note 9 Verizon models like they did for the Note 4 and the Note Edge? I really want to get my hands on that 512gb phone, but cant see myself committing to the locked bootloaders.
no, there isn't.

? just buy a exynos F or N or SD 9600
problem solved.
After a bit of googling and searching amazon I was only able to find AT&T compatible international versions, I remember someone saying the other CDMA phones worked on a different band then the US Verizon bands. When I google Exynos CDMA I get told Exynos isn't compatible with CDMA because the radios for it aren't installed on those phones.
Not gonna happen
There is no talk of a Developer Edition and is unlikely as none of the recent Notes have had one. The Exynos models don't have the proper LTE bands for Verizon. The N9600 is a Snapdragon, but I'm not sure if it runs the correct bands for Verizon either.

The n9600 works fine, with all lte bands and cdma on vzw. I'm using one now. No volte or ca YET. Once I get root, I should at least be able to get volte.

Where did you get your SM-N9600? The ones listed on Amazon claim to be the 9600 international version but they all say GSM only no CDMA.
EDIT: I found this: https://www.techwalls.com/samsung-galaxy-note-9-sm-n960-model-number-differences/
It lists the different model numbers. it seems the 9600/9608 have all the bands listed under the 960U*** versions that are important to Verizon.

Amazon. They always list the international version has no CDMA. No clue why they do, but they are wrong.

Awesome, thanks for the heads up, I will make my way right on over there and get me one on Thursday when I get paid. One question, when you select language does it give the option for US English or only Brittish English? Not really a problem, just curious as I have never bought an international version.

It was defaulted to UK English, but reg English is available. Make sure to ask the seller if it has Latin fw. You NEED that for vzw.

I only see one on amazon, I checked ebay also and they look pretty much the same situation over there. none of them mention if it has the latin firmware with 1 exception. there is one being resold on ebay and the guy mentioned it was the hong kong version. Is yours the dual sim one? and if it is the right model with the snapdragon processor, couldn't I just flash the Latin Firmware via Odin?

Xiaomi MI9 China Edition supports Band 20

Hi Guys,
reffering to the below blog the Mi9 China version supports LTE Band 20
https://www.chinamobilemag.de/news/xiaomi-mi-9-china-band-20-lte.html
That would be pretty cool so european users can buy a chinese Explorer Edition or the 8/256 GB China versions too without lacking Band 20 Support.
I have just bought China version one yesterday, hoping to support B20, but surprise me it seems not having B20.
I refer to Mi website itself does not support B20,
China version: https://www.mi.com/mi9/specs/
Global version: https://www.mi.com/global/mi9/specs/
Without a proper screenshot of Network cell info application with band 20 working, i don't trust him.
how we can check this?

Someone with the Chinese device would have to download LTE discovery from the Play Store & see if the mast they connect to supports band 20, & see if they connect to it..

I think you need to change the title, all information we have so far suggests that it doesn't support Band 20, including Xiaomi's official website.
The 2 latest devices from them, Pocophone & Mix 3 both have hardware locked Band's so it seems flashing Global would be useless too.
I think the blog is wrong...

only having the phone in hand (8GB version at this point, since it's the only difference from other users with 6GB and B20 LTE not working) and under B20 only network coverage.

You could try this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.simplyadvanced.ltediscovery
Not sure if your carrier supports Band 20 or not, this is something you'd have to find out from them I believe, or Google.

You don't need root, as long as you give it permissions it will work fine

Try this one
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wilysis.cellinfolite
you can use Cellular-Z from Playstore.
it shows the network you are currently connected to at the top and all other networks that your phone detects at the bottom.
you can also switch between both sim cards (slots at the top)
for example in my screenshots it shows that I'm currently using a band 20 network. and there are some others in the area.
both suggested apps are similar but I find cellular z to be more user friendly.
as a side note: I have a Redme note 5 (china) variant that does not have Band 20. the same phone is able to connect to LTE network where I live but it uses a different cell tower B3. you should check your providers cell tower map to see if there are any band 20s in your area.

Galaxy S10 5G SM-G977N

Hi,
I bought this off Gumtree and unbeknown to me it was not the UK version. Is there anyway to flash this onto the UK firmware and get rid of the korean apps etc? If I click a number even thought the dialer is set to system it pops up a Korean one which it then states is not supported.
Thanks
Why did you choose this model ?
I think there is a different model released for Europe? G977B if I am not wrong!, the issues you mentioned could be resolved by away or another but you will not be able to activate the 5G capability of the device!. furthermore, as far as I know, no one has proved successful flashing of other models firmware to this Korean model!.
If 5G network is not important for you, then you may be able to customize the phone to meet some of your required customisation.

When I bought it I didn't know it was not the UK model. It's only when you use it more that the differences come up.
My situation might be similar to yours!. however, I was somehow aware of the model and it's possibly shortcomings!, but I was able to modify a lot of features until it becomes almost whats I want except the ability to use 5G feature!.
BTW: Although the phone is KT oriented still you can use it and do some changes that meet your local settings. nevertheless, ultimate changes/customization could be achieved if you can root the device and install custom ROM.
Same Problem of G977N in Qatar

Question Can changing firmware enable bands?

Hi all,
I have a US bought S21 Ultra that i bought and used in the USA. I have now moved to the UK. The g998u1 Is not able to use UK 5G bands. My question is whether flashing the phone g998b or g998w will enable the bands that i need or, is there a physical difference on the phone that will negate this?
Thanks in advance.
PK
Devices sold in different regions often have hardware differences. Samsung in particular is known for doing this. I would think that it would be generally cheaper to use one radio chipset across all markets and just use software to define its capabilities, but this often isn't the case.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...22-series-including-sub-6-and-mmwave.4488435/ works. Just skip the steps you don't need (i.e., if your csc is xaa, there's no need to change csc).
It works on my u1 xaa and other than band 28 for 5G, all the bands are there.

The next software version could always break this. Do you ever use it with AT&T or Verizon or their MVNOs sims or esims? Does the *#73# still work for band selection for them? Thanks
