I am presently retired after 24 years as an Administrative Assistant for a property management company.
Cutbacks caught me 3 yrs before official retirement. Just the way it is, the technology changes so fast the kids
know the computer like we knew longhand division. But, I am enjoying my family. And my husband has a few
more years. And this is the time to enjoy the family and travel. Camp and fishing, etc. Thank you for the opportunity
to hopefully find some help. My son told me "Mom, you raised us by yourself and for that. Here is your phone with
a cover with "You are my sunshine" picked out by my grandkids. The song they still sing with me.
" We don't want you to think about paying for your phone, ever." I was very moved.
They realize times were tight, but I have 2 wonderful and successful sons, that I am so proud of.
And four (4) wonderful grandkids Harley she is 16- Wesslee he is 14.
And my younger son has 3-year-old twins a boy and a girl. Quade and Olivia. So I enjoy the best of both worlds. Sports, etc,
and then babies all over again. Life is wonderful. In the middle of all that I found a Very good man. Neither of us was EVER going to marry again.
And that was 16 yrs ago. He is my daughter-in-law's Uncle. Now I am not so mad about my phone but I hope for some help somewhere.

yes...major league baseball...since this is the off topic forum, and spring exhibition games are just days away!
I invite all baseball fans to talk about their teams, likes, dislikes, views on specific players
..as everyon can see from my avatar, I am an AVID yankee fan, and am fairly confident 2009 = 27
even if we 'bought' our team, its the yankees being the yankees, hate it or love it (i love it)
and NO I am not a fan because of there extensive pay roll or all-star lineup

You are hereby expelled from Red Sox Nation and have 30 days to move out of R I .
Even with your " bought team ", I will make some predictions. Burnett will turn into the Burnett the Jays wasted millions on. Sabathia will wilt under the pressure and media glare of New York ( ala Randy Johnson ), Hal and Hank are just idiots and will never measure up to Dad, No matter how much money they spend.
Joba will never live up to the hype, too much too soon. Alex will be dogged and distracted all year by steroids and Madonna. We will see how Teixeira plays now that he is a rich man, set for life and really has everything to prove, but nothing to play for anymore. Posada is done, Matsui is done. Damon is done.
And Girardi won't be able to keep the circus together, like Torre did.
Watching the RED SOX in the World Series will be tough for N.Y. but hey they must be getting used to it by now. Go Sox

nothing can be said on burnette and sabathia, except that ..YOUR WRONG haha...we will have to wait until the season begins, however, Burnette will be getting better run support which will lead to more wins, giving him better confidence, and check his stats, last year, 35 games 231SO 86BB, not so shabby, that 18w 10L will translate to 21-9, and sabathia, im going to say 23w - 7L
damon, done. this is true, cabrera will step up his season, if he doesnt then he goes bye bye, and he wants to stay in NY.
Matsui is still a quality hitter, if we already have a DH he will be a valuable trade option, perhaps up the bullpen. Joba has pretty much already proven himself. Phil Hughes, should take his job as set up man, unless there is a injury to the starting rotation. and Giradi has already done a hell of a job last season with the mess he was brought into
hank + hals dicks will never be as big as Georgey boy, this is true
and p.s I excommunicated myself from R.S nation a long time ago...born a yankee fan
..anything i miss lol
Do you have Manila 2D on your Tilt w/ HD IV ?

wow..thats sweet..thanks a lot man!
not so bad for a redsox fan lol
Red Sox are going all the way this year ! NYY spent tons of $$$ just to lose again this year....
Sorry, I had to.....
i know this is a bit outdated...however to my 2 friendly redsox fans above me id like to remind you A-Rod, first at bat HOMER BABY! =]
I've got a friend who I've known for about 14 years. We're like brothers. For the sake of simplicity, I'll refer to him as Boy, going forward.
Boy has been dating this girl (refered to as Girl, going forward) for 7 years.
They're both age 29.
Girl wants to get married. Wants to take the next step in their relationship. Wants to start a family.
Boy does not want to get married.
My loyalty is skewed towards Boy because, like I said, we're like brothers. Girl and I are not exactly friends. We've met several times at gatherings and had some short chats, but we're nothing more than aquaintences.
The correct thing for me to do is absolutely nothing. Someone else's relationship is none of my business. And besides, if my friend doesn't want to get married, it's his decision and I should stand by him.
But I must say that if I were friends with Girl instead of Boy, the "correct thing" for me to do would be very different. I would tell her to break it off and move on in life. If Boy is not committed to her at age 29 after 7 years of dating, then he likely won't ever be committed to her. Plus I know of an unforgivable sin that Boy has committed.
Basically, Boy is a jerk. But he's my friend. Girl is rather innocent in all this. She is going to be hurt either way. If Boy doesn't marry Girl, she will be hurt. If Boy does marry Girl, their marriage will not be one built on a stable foundation of trust and honesty (Girl does not know this, of course).
So what do you guys think?
Stay loyal to my friend and just don't do anything?
Try to help their relationship by trying to convince Boy to accept marriage?
Save Girl from herself by exposing Boy as the jerk that he is?
Have him watch the "wedding singer."
Even the villian knows at some point you have to sh** or get off the pot.
He's been with her seven yrs.
He can always divorce her. I'm a divorce lawyer. I'll hook him up.
If he's rich tell him to get a prenup (without upsetting her -- it should be on a day he bought her something or did something nice for her -- not on the day before they get married.

Although there's no way for me to know for certain, but I highly doubt he's resisting marriage because he's concerned about losing his wealth. He doesn't have much wealth that is legally his. His family is well off so he lives a good life. Lives with his family in an expensive home, drives nice cars, etc. But these luxuries are not his. It's his family's. So if he gets married and then divorces without a prenup, he has nothing to lose.
Plus, it's not like Girl is leeching off of him. She's employed and fairly financially dependent.
I never expected to see this here lol, but anyway
If you want to save yourself a headache, don't get involved. If it was me, however, i'd just straight out tell my friend my opinion.
This is my nephew: http://i.imgur.com/01aY7.png . He has lived with me & my parents (his grandparents) for most of his 2 year old life. For a time he lived with his step-father and mother. My parents got custody of him because he was badly abused by them. His step-father would lock him in rooms for 12 hours at a time (when he was less than 1 year old), he would scream loudly and curse at him, he wouldn't let his mother hold or feed him. His mother would smoke around him (marijuana and cigarettes), take him to random men's houses and leave him unattended. She would also drink around him, and drive with him while she was drunk. She would never watch or play with him; he accidentally injured himself badly several times because of this neglect. She also tested positive for methamphetamines, amphetamines, adderall, vyvanse, and several other drugs I can't remember.
Myself & my parents have been fighting with them in court for almost two years. They (my parents) have had temporary custody up until now. Tomorrow morning is our final court date which will decide on who gets custody. Please pray for my parents, his grandparents, to get permanent custody of him. If you don't pray, please wish us luck & keep him in your thoughts.
Thank you.
Geez...the fact that that handsome little guy can smile for a photo is beyond my comprension.
Best of luck to all those looking out for him, and I hope justice is on his grandparents side.
Please post back with an update.

me too,Good luck
Good luck tomorrow. Sounds like he'll be much happier and better off with you and your parents. Make sure you let us know what happens.
Thank you all for your support. We were in court all day, the biological father knows how bad things are and is actually on our side, but he didn't show up, so it was just my parents & I vs my sister (child's mother). The judge previously ordered a no-contact order between the child & the step-father, the mother acted like she had divorced him by bringing in legal separation papers, but they were all fake.
As of now she is getting unsupervised visits twice a week. But thankfully he is residing with me & my parents the rest of the time.
She's trying to act like she's changed now, it's all fake. The story behind this whole thing is unbelievable, I'm not allowed to give out details, I'll write about it once it's all over.
We're not sure the next court date yet, I'll post about it once it's close.
Once again, thank you all for your prayers & support, they helped very much.

That picture was taken after we got him back, it was a few months before he would smile again. Before they had him, he would kiss us all the time, after we got him back he would never let us kiss him, thankfully now he is doing much better. He still is suffering from some mental abuse, we're taking him to therapy classes and he is improving.

This is all sounding good sofar for the child...your sister's case seems to be weakening very quickly.
And the last part you wrote just breaks my heart. I am a father of two girls, one 6, other is almost 2. My wife and I have struggled in our 10 years of marriage, but we do everything we can every day to make our kids feel safe and loved. Why have kids for any other reason?
Thanks for the update, and best of luck in the next round

Hi.
Trent here. 32 years old living in Eastern Virginia. At a young age my mom knew to hide old electronics. VCRs, DVD players, television remote controls. Literally anything that had a microchip; my mother couldn't leave around around without it getting taken apart and totally RUINED. I did that with about, realistically, 12 of my mother's electronics.
Long story when I was 14 in 7th grade, my father bought me my first gaming computer. Usually prior to that I was ALL about nature and still am. But - the first time I pressed the power button on that alien faced computer tower. I instantly fell in love.
Back to 7th grade. There was this guy that literally rode my bus everyday from school on our usual bus route. He was very reclusive, and would sit on the bus seats with his legs tucked against the back rest in front of him. I was intrigued by this guy as he seemed like the type to be into electronics, so one day on the bus; I talked to him.
His name is Jonathan and he is still around today. Jonathan was a very quiet (and still is) loving, caring, super SUPER intelligent guy. When I first sat to him on this bus I'd asked him, if he played runescape. Mind you, this was in 2004 which every early MMO gamer knows; was in its PRIME at the time. There were no better years on RS between 2004-2008. Anyways.
Jonathan is an extremely quiet loving caring guy. Our first conversation is when I'd asked him that. He replied with no, I play KoL. I reply what is kol? He goes Kingdom of Loathing. So, he goes into what type of game it is. That is when our friendship turned into lifelong brotherhood. (As I am native American with dreadlocks, and Jonathan is Alaskan Caucasian descent with an eccentric afro. A literal afro. Trust me, he goes many stares where he went, but in a good way because he does have a distinct look.
ANYWAYS - as we get older we shy away from gaming and he gets more into IT stuff. He's building computers and everything at this time. At this point, is where is starts to teach me everything he knew about electronics and computers. Oh you me, and it sure was alot of information at the time!
Long story short, now I am 32 years old engaged with 2 beautiful children. 2 boys. I was reminded recently from a thought of mine, of Jonathan. I remembered a time he was first discovered jailbreaking, again teaching me all I knew. Now here I am! Trying to teach myself by learning from you guys and reading. Here goes nothing!
Thanks for having me!

Hello o/
Thank you for having me!
Born in District Six, Cape Town, 69 years ago. Self- taught flute player/composer. www.soundcloud.com/brian-douglas-erasmus
Of limited means, subsisting via a state old age grant and the patronage of family and friends. Unmarried. Having escaped the tender trap?, still trying to figure out whether to be sad or glad.
Life journey to date, probably a mirror image of the sojourn of my fellow travelers. Days spent practicing the flute, drinking red wine, watching television. Interested in politics. Given the current international circumstances, who wouldn't be. Not much more to tell, I suppose...
Welcome to the xda family.
Cheers.
Thanks. Hopefully some kind soul will help me fix my phone.
