I have rooted Exynos s21 ultra Netflix is installed and opened even logged in but when I try to play anything it just keeps on loading
Is this because of I am rooted ?, Is there any solution
Netflix won't run because you compromised the security of the phone. You have to hide root with magisk or some s**t like that.

I tried this but it flags my DRM to widevine L3
It was working when I initially rooted, only stopped working after I tried to upgrade to a new firmware (still rooted)

Once you're rooted the only way to watch netflix is with widevine L3, as of today there's still no way to watch in higher quality and probably never will be... that's why i stepped away from rooting as i need to fix more things than it has any benefit to me

Hello All,
So, I have been away from Android for a bit (not my choice ), and it seems that I am unable to play movies and tv show from Google Play if I am rooted, or even using a permissive kernel. I just get the try again later, restart, blah blah error. Is this the norm nowadays? I googled/searched XDA and only found a thread about the HTC M8 where this was discussed (with no solution other than rootcloaker). I thought Google had had stopped that a while back?
Any informed input appreciated, as I like to use my own ROMs/kernels. I will logcat/dive deeper if no-one knows, and see how far that gets me...
Thanks!
Steve
I have never used Google Play for music or movies but I was wondering if you could still install apps or use gmail. Curious if its related to account. I'm sure it would be mentioned more often if it was a common problem , so very possible a setup issue!?

I am thinking along the same lines, as a search turned up basically nada, but I just wanted to rule out the obvious. Thanks!

Sure. You could always try a kernel or rom from the development section as a test and narrow it down. Wish I knew more of the inner workings, but still learning. hope you get it back on track. Its a very nice device.

Okay. Just restored this tab to stock. Google play movies worked fine. Then redid the root process and Google play movies don't work. Did some searching and apparently root breaks google play movies. Anyone?
I'm having the same issue... also couldn't get hulu to play anything. Twitch and Netflix work fine.. google play and hulu, no bueno. My Nexus 6p is rooted though and it plays hulu and google play movies just fine... so it's not necessarily root.. it's something with this tablet and root.
Suggested in the T917T Root thread: if you're running Xposed, give root cloaking a shot.

I think you're correct. I have a rooted LG G4 and play movies works fine on it. I'll see if I can get exposed and root cloak going.
Edit: no luck with root cloak.
Just an idea, no idea if it will work, but has anyone tried downloading a movie from google play movies while the device is rooted, and seeing if it plays? I'd do it myself, but my device currently isn't rooted, so could someone test that for me?

Yes. It seems to be this tablet, and perhaps Samsung generally...
I have been busy, but will root my tablet and try to figure it out.

It may work as android pay also apparently works.

Do I have to be rooted already before I use the systemless root? Or will that root my device on its own? I'm a little bit confused on how to go about installing this.

System partition needs to be complete stock so no previous root.
Just install as you would any other supersu zip.
It will unpack and patch the boot.img on the fly and install systemless root.
Have a backup ready.

It should work on 5.1.1. Are you sure you didn't have root before? The system needs to be clean. When supersu installed did it say systemless root?
If everything was as it should be then you need to make a bug report in the supersu thread to Chainfire.

If You have root! Best Way to bypass It root Your phone with Magisk root
...
cmmx said:
I don't have root, and can't see why that would affect it, because what it says is the certification is for the device's hw (not sw), so it shouldn't matter if it's rooted or a custom rom or whatever (and I'm on stock Emui, anyway).
And it has nothing to do with Safety net either, because Magisk Manager (now) says it passes both cts and basic integrity (a week ago, the same version (other install) only passed basic integrity, and a couple months ago (other version) it didn't pass either one, with someone on Magisk thread even telling me that's because Magisk itself wasn't installed - guess what: it still isn't, yet it now passes both...).
Either way, I haven't noticed any problems from it, so far, so I'm just puzzled.

Hi peoole, today i found my netflix not working on my rooted N9. I can login and browse through but when i try to play anything, it gets stuck at loading? Does it have anything to do with a rooted device? I checked magisk for safety pass and it did pass. Plz help !
Most custom roms include a Netflix fix. Yo could try to hide it with magisk, see if that does anything.
I'm using custom rom based on Samsung's with root, and Netflix can't play in hd + widevine level 3.
Is it normal? What caused it from l1 to l3- root or custom rom or bl unlocked?
i have the same problem but i used the old version of Netflix.. the problem was resolved for me ...
this version is worded for me

Don't go back to stock, there is a module on Magisk that allows you to play Netflix.. See this thread..

That should fix it.
I can't install the netflix app from the google play store any more. I'm sure this worked before but after I rooted my phone the device is marked as incompatible. I unrooted it and flashed the stock rom (did not look the boot loader), but still can't install the netflix app. I can’t tell if this was really caused by rooting the phone or something else because I did not checked immediately after rooting my phone.
Is this normal? Was this even caused by rooting the phone? Can I fix the isseue with or without root?
Not sure if this is relevant but I also have issues with the google pay app since I rooted the phone. I Found some instruction to fix that but was not able to test it.

You can download the latest Netflix APK from the apkmirror website. Apparently you need to have a locked bootloader to get it listed back on playstore
I already assumed this but did not try, because this was not a issue on my old phone.
Loading it from apk mirror is fine for me. So I belive I will not check if locking the bootloder will actually fix the issue.

SO I guess I will try to lock the bootloader.
Is it easy to lock it? Will it be possible to unlock it later?

With my rom don't lose l1 certification netflix have to work at max quality, but if you are rooted you have to set netflix on magisk app and then have to clear data app of netflix see previous links
So I installed Netflix on my rooted device after changing device fingerprint and fixing safety net and hiding root using Zygisk + Shamiko (Enforce Disabled) + LSPosed + Hide My Applist + Universal Safetynet Fix. The app runs and logs in, but whenever I try playing ANY video it gives me an error "5.7.6" and says "There is a problem playing this video. Please try again". I am convinced this is a root issue as my sister has the exact same phone I have and it's working fine with her (She is not rooted). Does anyone have any idea what's going on?
I am using a Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S device, Running Android 11 + Custom ROM (LiteE 1.3) + MIUI 12.5
Note: I have done extensive modifications and gone out of my way to hide my root status. I edited the device fingerprint to a Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus and I now pass Safetynet perfectly and Netflix shows up in my Playstore, and I am able to install it and log in fine. My banking apps work, My device shows as certified in Playstore and I even have Widevine L1. So I don't understand why it won't let me play videos. (Screenshot attached)

Oh that's what I did, but for some reason SNF only doesn't really work, My banking apps never worked until I did all the steps I mentioned.
have you tried this:

clear netflix data after installing
Warning (from readme.md)
A consequence of using this module is that Widevine DRM will fall back to using L3 instead of L1, which means that Netflix will not display content in HD or higher quality, regardless of your subscription type. Of course, without this module, Netflix will not play at all on a rooted device. If this is important to you, you will need to unroot your device.
